random crits on melee are good game design for encouraging hyper aggression and clutch plays
random gun crits are gay, promoting mindless spamming and passive play
random crits break stalemates when both teams are constantly being healed by medics and not overextending. the team that does more damage to the enemy team has a higher chance to roll crits. the better team will have better accuracy which will lead to a higher chance of those rolled crits to actually hit and kill an enemy or more and finally allow the better team to attack.
If random crits were 100% random they would have been pretty lame. But you can earn random crits by being a better player.

Uber exists so this is irrelevant. I don't even know why you dumbass critgays bring it up all the time when a crocket isn't gonna save the game nearly as often as an uber push will.
So? It's still inherently random, even if it's not "truly" random, so you can't plan around it like an uber, it doesn't last a specific duration if it's not a flamethrower/minigun, and it can't affect multiple people at once. An uber is significantly better at pushing through a tough defense than a crit ever will be outside the luckiest of circumstances. You can like crits all you want, just don't pretend they benefit the gameplay.

It's forever a missed opportunity that Heavy is the class with the least variation in primaries. Just give him a cannon or a railgun or something, it's not hard to think of other huge fricking weapons that shit out damage that he could use.

you barely EVER see a pyro top scoring, there's a reason for that
>you barely EVER see a pyro top scoring
It depends of the map. A pyro with phlog and scorch shot will dominate if he knows how to ambush. Even a regular flamethrower and shotgun can be formidable
funny you say that because i'm the complete opposite. heavy takes some brain power to actually ambush players and make use of the minigun. on the other hand, i can just play pyro with my brain turned off and walk at people and ocassionally press m2 when there's a soldier/demo and completely deny their damage.

Seriously, on your average pub using uber on a pyro is a guranteed way of pushing through certain points. Just sentry block with your body during the uber and you are golden.
When people say heavy is bad its when they talk about KoTH where all of the maps are one big sniper sightline and 5CP because compgays nerfed his speed boost item that made him a monster there. On Payload aka peak TF2 the heavy is the easiest class to reach triple digit score with
I see people claiming heavy sucks in pubs pretty consistently, probably because they take compgay tierlists as gospel without understanding the context behind them

dude, every single gamemode besides Arena is either spam fests or rolls if you're trying to play the objective
homies are gonna build sentries once they hold any objective
if you just like to DM in CTF, KoTH, Payload Race or whatever that's fine, but don't act like that is what those gamemodes are
No matter what side of the random crit aisle you are on, CTF rewarding crits on capture is fricking stupid if for some miracle you end up on a serious CTF server.
it's barely ever a problem
most smart players hide somewhere like spawn or behind a sentry when they know their intel is about to be captured
the most is does is allow you to snag a kill on oblivious players
like random crits, it being in the game or not doesn't really make much of a difference and it's confusing why it was added to begin with, but ultimately doesn't matter
>playing melee heavy >get into a melee fight with a spy who can't trickstab me >kill him >turn around >immediately crit powerjacked across the map by a Pyro I didn't know was there

Counterstrike has random crits too with headshots and bullet spread. Go pick up a P90 and roll the dice on 50% odds instead of 1% odds

Having to switch between attacking and holding automatically gives it more complexity
You play the game to ultimately kill enemies and asymmetrical gamemodes are an absolute mockery of the core gameplay, reducing it to mere spam and uber pushes
You don't have to "hold" the point once it's capped, you just kill anyone who goes nearby who's not on your team. You're pretending there's depth where there isn't any because you're so focused on "muh kills" that the "best gamemode" in TEAM Fortress 2 for you is the one where you hardly need to act like a team at all if you're good at killing.
No one is playing this game to stand on the cap
No one is playing this game to sit on the payload
The best thing you can do is make the death match fair and wrap some objective around it instead of completely devaluing it and hoping shitters will cope by thinking that turning red into blue matters
>No one is playing TEAM fortress 2 to be in a TEAM and work together
I bet you're a scout main, or at least a soldier main.
Yes, no one is playing this game to play the objective
If capping was so rewarding by itself it wouldn't give so many points to delude shitters into thinking theyre contributing while going 1/10
You're acting like payload and AD don't involve your precious killing in it. I'm glad I can just ignore KoTH so I don't have to deal with morons like you who'd sooner kill a 10 hp spy running away from the point than actually cap it despite nobody being on it.
Good, stay away moron
Keep pretending that payload and ad aren't just brainless grinders
I'm not pretending anything, you literally can't win a match of payload or AD if you never kill even with BLU's respawn times unless the enemy isn't fighting back whatsoever. You're just so autistically focused on DMing that you can't admit that's all you want to do in a game called TEAM Fortress 2.
You literally can't read
My point is that payload and ad are anti skill anti fun grinders where death match is so lopsided you're discouraged from treating the enemy as your equal
They punish you hard for not being a fricking brainless golem that spams from the cap as red and not being a reckless moron on blu
Symmetrical gamemodes actually reward you for being better and smarter than your enemy
dude, every single gamemode besides Arena is either spam fests or rolls if you're trying to play the objective
homies are gonna build sentries once they hold any objective
if you just like to DM in CTF, KoTH, Payload Race or whatever that's fine, but don't act like that is what those gamemodes are
CTF > Koth > PD > killing bots on itemtest > every other gamemode except Payload > meme unofficial gamemodes > Payload
>2023
>still no official matchmaking for Arena
>heavy, weapons guy
No matter what side of the random crit aisle you are on, CTF rewarding crits on capture is fricking stupid if for some miracle you end up on a serious CTF server.
it's barely ever a problem
most smart players hide somewhere like spawn or behind a sentry when they know their intel is about to be captured
the most is does is allow you to snag a kill on oblivious players
like random crits, it being in the game or not doesn't really make much of a difference and it's confusing why it was added to begin with, but ultimately doesn't matter
Brass Beast is the best minigun
>catch overconfident people off guard
>slow walk baits rushers
>more damage makes wiener huge
I love people coming in and thinking im a f2p noob for my gun selection then mopping the floor with them
Based Brass Beast appreciater. I run it with the family business so I have some damage in a pinch. Highly underrated.
>playing melee heavy
>get into a melee fight with a spy who can't trickstab me
>kill him
>turn around
>immediately crit powerjacked across the map by a Pyro I didn't know was there
why is TF2 the only game where dying can still be funny
