The termicide mutates the bugs, creating flying bugs (who didn't see that coming). Eventually they'll develop a resistance to the poison, so the scientists who made the termicide are being investigated for treason. Bots will also get flying units at the same time.
Bots invade Cyberstan, as the remaining cyborgs from the previous war are imprisoned there, implying the bots' main goal in this war is to free the cyborgs. However, it's still unknown where the bots main manufacturing world is.
Super Earth scientists quickly develop a planet-destroying weapon called "dark fluid", which basically collapses all matter it touches into a infinite singularity.
Meridia gets turned into a super bug hive, so the Helldivers are deployed to dispense dark fluid all around planet. Meridia is then completely wiped from the map and is now turned into a black hole.
Bugs create element 710, which is needed to power the our FTL drives. When a planet-sized amount of element 710 gets compressed into an infinite singularity, it essentially creates a wormhole. This wormhole has unknown spacetime readings according to the ship master. The ship's democracy officer says we must wait for this "threat" to unravel further, and it's heavily implied that Illuminates will start pouring out of it.
Ship announcement voice lines are found warning of us an incoming Illuminate invasion. There's also a voiceline with Pelican-1 saying "Squid outpost destroyed."
TL;DR Illuminates are coming a lot sooner rather than later

I don't think Super Earth is nefarious enough to cause an outbreak themselves. Farming animals in a controlled environment seems way more efficient than just starting an outbreak then throwing millions of elite soldiers away and spending trillions of dollars in collateral. Especially when they're competent enough to imprison cyborgs without an outbreak.
I think incompetency combined with rebel sabotage seems more logically the cause.

No, there's a lot of surfaces that have really moronic glancing angles for stratagem beacons.
You can try dropping one into sliiiiightly sloped ground, and the game will suddenly decide "nope, bounce off and miss by 15 meters" for no fricking reason. Though it feels like its way more common with sentries and fortifications.
it's the detector towers, those are borked and there is some sort of no-strategems-here volume around them you have to learn

If you are fighting bugs, both of you should be running EAT's the EAT is basically the anti charger stratagem, the thing absolutly mogs them.
Make sure some one is also running a grenade launcher to help horde clear and take out bile spewers easy.
The Mech is also really good against bugs when things start to get spicy.

What are you bringing between you? For bugs I usually carry grenade launcher, supply backpack, EMS Orbital and Liberator. More often than not everyone else is packing 500KG and Railcanon orbital. Liberator is a budget stalward for close or danger close situations and the GL can delete an entire screen of bugs.

So i have been playing with the sickle lately and holy shit, this thing is stupid good.
Its more or less a stalwart in primary form, and on normal and cold planets has the same and or better ammo economy then the stalwart does even if you are mogging on the trigger the whole time.
This stupid fricking gun basically turns you into a power house commando, ammo pack, GL, EAT, and you can take care of anything and just lay on the trigger the whole time and never worry about ammo.
Only thing i notice that it sucks at is stalkers.
Why cant the other weapons be this good and appealing.

MY first TCS mission was on helldive (I set it for d7) and we all split up to take a different tower and worked a treat.
Am I the only one using the orbital gatling? That shit has very low cooldown and cleans entire waves of Bugs. It has a 6 second area denial.
I personally just like using the airburst more due to the VFX and SFX and it achieves basically the same effect.

You can actually combine Demoman and Cleanup crew into one now.
Take the sickle GL and ammo pack, you can do both, the sickle is pretty much the same thing as the stalwart.

Well, if it's manually aimed it might not be the death sentence to your team that the mortar sentry sometimes just decides to be. They could also balance it by making it more powerful and having different shell types like napalm, EMS, mini nuke etc.

also doesn't work most of the time, as soon as there's an enemy in the tesla's tower's kill range you also become a viable target. If there's no enemies in range then being prone works.
I've tested it multiple times because I always thought the tower killed me by arcing from the enemy.

It's too bad that all deployables instantly aggro everything around them and their expected lifespan in a difficulty 7+ mission is about five seconds. This applies especially to the tesla tower because it needs to be deployed in the thick of enemies to do its job.

Nobody would enjoy that. Guerilla warfare and vietcong tactics are specifically designed around frustrating the enemy and never allowing them a pitched battle. If you play with a group of friends it could be fun but with randoms it would be unplayable because would just run into traps all day, get picked off while they're away from the group and get frustrated at elite enemies disappearing before you can kill them.
Funnily enough, in 40k Lore, the Tau did that to the Orkz and one of the Codices mentioned how Farsight fought so fricking lame that even Orkz couldn't enjoy war against him.
There real loss with not being able to mod this game is not being able to replace the orbital gas impact SFX with a reverb fart.

The Scorcher from the end of the Helldivers Mobilize warbond is good, it can plink through Strider shields and such. Steeled Veterans is just more underwhelming by comparison outside of the Revolver.
Too clunky despite being an underwhelming Scorcher, invest medals elsewhere unless it's the last thing you have to buy or gets buffed.
I hate the terminite tower missions, I can't wait for them to be permanently cycled out.

The towers can take a lot of damage. Either they've got some armor or a shitload of health, because they can survive a bile titan spewing on them for a while.
This assumes your team isn't dropping 500kg bombs or orbital lasers near the silos, of course.

If they add new factions i assume it would be infestation like enemies and/or demons of sort. Of course both would be born from super earth fricking around.

The change to steering hellpods near cliffs is so buttfricking moronic. If there's anything the playerbase should be complaining about, it should be this "fix" for what was a non-problem.
Half the time I'm respawned near these things I'm railroaded to the wrong side and/or right into a pack of bugs for instant death.
