The helldivers only get called in for shit behind enemy lines. There are regular infantry, they are packed into meatcubes on bot planets and presumably inside the nests on bug planets

I think it would be a neat thing if they let you set a preset of armors that is shuffled each time you respawn. They already do this with the voices, so it would fit well in my opinion.

There are dozens if not hundreds of helldivers frozen on the ship.
It's a destroyer and it's not yours, it's for every single cryofrozen butthole also on board once you die
its yours (for as long as you live, which probably wont be long, then the next guy gets it and so on)
Your average guardsmen are those SEAF corpses scattered about outposts and such. Helldivers are just nutcases sent on 40 minute hit and run missions, pulling the battle cluster back before the main force of whatever occupying force arrives. It's why the enemies spawn more often the longer you linger.
helldivers are just better equipped soldiers with their own personal destroyers on call 24/7 to nuke whatever they want. the only difference between them and normal soldiers is probably zealotry, given helldiver recruits are 90+% patriotic and willing to do crazy shit even if it kills them

You play as a ship, helldivers is about meatwaves. That's why default voice is random, reinforcements are new recruits.
No, you play as the democracy officer sending helldivers on mission. Purchases of strategims and ship modules are all pre-chosen by the democracy officer, and the actual gameplay is just an advanced spectator mode.

6 stims is really good, other than that the heavy one that lowers recoil is pretty good. dont feel a difference going from heavy to light though, even if its something as hard to see as making you harder to hit while diving, because i cant tell a difference with stamina. being able to ping multiple enemies and for longer is worth it with the scout stuff though
Light saves lives on deserts, heavy saves you from bot lasers
I can't go back to anything else after light armor for the increased speed and stamina
The snow trooper armor from the "p2w" store with 30% better recoil control when crouched or prone (for that sweet full auto on auto cannon fire) and 50% explosive resistance (amazing in vietnam).

Oh, I know. I just liked the look of the thing. My buddy had this issue of not wanting to waste super credits and then was delighted to see that the heavy armor on the second track had the exact same perks. He was a bit confused, as he genuinely thought the game had better perks in the SC store.

Yes. You can tank a rocket launcher to the face. Also, I really enjoy ragdolling around on a heated battlefield. Makes the "cinematic" moments happen more frequently.

Me and my buddies just run what ever looks the best to them, but if you want to minmax, I think the added mobility and detection range reduction would be more useful as the bugs are always in your face.

its medium actually if i remember right, which is the only difference between it and the normal one you can get with medals. so i guess you can have a bit more stamina with the cash shop one or more armor with the normal one

mortar turret is pretty good from what i've seen, just put it behind you so the enemies cant rush it
eagle upgrades first, it's Insanely good and if you only bring the 500kg bomb then it autoresupplies itself, giving you a positionable hellbomb

So you didn't sprint directly into them instead of going around. But you're right you were going to do that anyway.
Is it just me, but on difficulty Challenging (I think it's 4?) it becomes pretty much impossible to solo? If you trigger even a single patrol, from this difficulty on, it becomes an endless loop of bug breach/dropships. I know that you aren't supposed to fight patrols, but you can only dodge them until so much, eventually you will run into frickers around the objective, since they seem to be heading towards you anyway even if they don't "see" you.
Literally git gud at killing chaff.
The stronger enemies don't call in reinforcements, and you can wipe out patrols of weaker enemies before they call reinforcements unless one of them is hidden behind cover or terrain.
It works on 7 for me(against bots) and I'm a shitter.
i think only the bots with red heads call for dropships but dont quote me on it
Ahh okay, I didn't know only the smaller ones call in. I'll try to focus them on, but it feels like the reinforcements are called in within seconds of engagement, is it really realisitc to kill them all consistently before they call in?

Enemies enter an alerted state when they first notice you, but that doesn't instantly start a fight, just divert course and get behind something or further away from them. The light armor that lowers detection rate makes it even easier.

The actual gameplay is just that good. They nailed perfectly the gunplay, how the enemies respond to being damaged, it never gets old dismembering bugs, or blowing heads off bots, and don't even get me started about the various airstrikes and orbital strikes, when they hit and take out several enemies, or big ones, not even porn can make me cum that much.
And the entire game has a tongue in cheek self aware satire vibe, constantly spewing shit about democracy and liberty, that they got perfectly so they are funny but not annoying.

A true co-op game. There are crew fired weapons. Because of the limited air strikes and weapons each person can bring there's no chance one guy carries the whole team. Calling things out (even if it's just pings) and coordinating fire is important. It's a real "strive together or die together" experience.

Besides the occasional one guy fricking off to the other side of the map, even randoms stick together without the shared screen. People are pretty respondent to pinging a location and knowing we're all moving there.

I play like an engineer/ Forward Fire Controller with my shotgun and turret/minelayer load out.

Joke's on you, when I play with randoms I always frick off to do objectives and collect samples alone, because people don't know how to avoid patrols and just farm bugs until they're overrun. While doing this I've also noticed there's a mob count limit, so eventually randos attract all bugs and even patrols stop spamming, making my work easy.
splitting up is a valid way to do missions tbh. especially for shit like launching an ICBM which requires 2 sub objectives first, just send two guys to one and yourself and another to another and save the time

Im actually surprised by the competency of teammates too, it seems they found a good way to get people to actually work together via gameplay, people actually stick together, gives supplies, wait for airstrikes and tandem reload, far too often in coop games it feels like you are just playing in the same game as other people, and not really playing with them.

But isn't stealth impossible once you get to needing to evac? How do you manage that solo?
Depending on how long you take on the mission is how bad the evac is, remember the mission is to extract, not get kills, even if you die with materials just run around and pick them up and keep running. As long as you completed the objectives even if you run out of lives the mission is still a success by the way, you just dont get to keep the materials you gathered.
Try soloing any mission and just do the main objectives, youll see what I mean. Its also the only time youll really get use out of stratagems like the mine fields, tesla coil and that stratagem that bombards a huge area with random fire, since you wont have to worry about friendly coordination.

Full face helmets and capes have to pass the pencil pushers that care about budgets so that won't happen. Only capeless military fatigues and weak chin exposing helmets for you
Capes are gonna get dirty, caught in things, wet, weigh you down, slow you down.
Fully covering masks are gonna stifle you, make it hard to cool down and are gonna get grimy and gross extremely quickly.
As a soldier you want as little redundant shit as possible weighing you down, or blocking your vision. Rule of cool doesn't apply when you're getting shot at irl

No, you will have to farm green samples on level 1 missions anyway (because on higher difficulties you find too many orange and not enough green) and while doing it, you will easily farm 1000 credits in 2 days.
I do easy missions when running solo cause when people join you, you can all just frick off in separate directions and find shit with minimal risk of death. Also I'm surprised at how easy to find super credits are given the 2nd battle pass things cost them and you can buy them with real money. I've already got enough to buy it just from playing.

Honestly I've never had issues with Stalkers. Aim for their limbs or try and take their head off.

the missions are called blitz, have a tiny timer, and are all about finding holes and sealing them as fast as possible. yet people still sit and fight instead of realizing that every enemy in this game except a specific few special types of enemies are literally slower than you and you can just walk away from them even in heavy armor

The only thing I've seen that maybe kills them in one hit is a close range rpg to the neck joint. Did it once, blew the head clean off. Direct shots don't work, or top down. Where the head attaches to the neck
There is a chance the bomb hits the titan, and since the bomb has pen value it embeds itself in the titan, and damn is it kino when that happens

the only downside is like with all team weapons, someone helping you use it means one less gun actively firing, so the weapon itself has to be good enough to justify it. that and you can solo stuff like the autocannon, the reload time isnt that bad if you're using it to snipe

It's because progression is tied to resources that are on your corpse when you die. People get pissy as frick whenever you lose those because they want their rewards for playing.

My highest yet was about 50 from a Suicide 7 bug mission, though only because we were constantly running and finding POI bunkers/shipping crates

Bugs I've been running light armor,500kg bomb, shield bp, rail cannon and auto cannon turret by myself. You need mobility to deal with them and you are always dealing with 2 bile titans, 4 chargers and hordes.
Guns I use is the breaker and the secondary sub machine gun.
Robots, I use heavy armor with explosion resistance, still rolling with rail cannon, orbital laser, mortar turret and auto cannon turret. 500kg bomb does frick all damage against robos.
I swap my secondary with the revolver
The difference between 7 and helldive is enormous. Light armor for bugs only, 500kg honestly seems to fall off here. Maybe if I had the ship upgrade to get another use out of it? But it is really only good for nests. If you whiff you're fricked for 3 minutes, I just roll cluster bomb, orbital railgun, personal rail gun, and maybe laser drone depending on the group. Breaker or dominator depending. Can't even really use the recoilless rocket on helldive because it takes too long to reload

Spear fricks robots all day but I can't get it to work on chargers closer than 50 feet or so, so I just roll railgun with the safety off

You have to get out and actually do the mission at some point. Vehicles were all garbage in 1 because of that, and because you can't reload them, so when the gun runs out of ammo you're just fricked

Laser is simply better. Not as high dps, doesn't need to reload, and people can see the beam to avoid it rather than just getting domed

I love the autocannon but it feels so flimsy against chargers. Maybe it's their hitboxes but it just bounces off most of the time on the soft parts. Even the underside of a Bio Titan bounces more often than not.
I think I'll just get the railgun and put it on unsafe mode to charge up shots.

depending on the mission parameters, orbital or eagle strikes could have a longer delay before landing on higher difficulties so you have to choose between the two unlike lower difficulties where you can have both. other than that eagle strikes are generally better than orbital ones

i can't be the only one who thought this was an E.Y.E thread at first glance because holy frick that looks like a culter dei.
Hellbros, the flamer kills chargers extremely easily but it's bad against stalkers (the railgun is still supreme against these). I'm personally going jetpack + flamer to get distance from stalkers and sniping them with the marksman rifle and using it to juke and burn chargers.
Why does the jetpack feel so anemic? You barely get any height or distance with it.
It was too good in 1, but they nerfed it too hard.
It's purpose is supposed to be a get out of jail free card to being swarmed with melee enemies, but outside of that it's not satisfying to use or worth it taking up a back slot
As a jetpack veteran, here is why:
- Jetpack jump distance is based on your velocity, so you get the furthest jumps by using light armor. This is so heavy and medium armor can't use it to negate their armor movement speed disadvantage but can still use it to get on rooftops, I assume
- Jumping off cliffs and slopes allows you to get extra distance, so try to sprint up slopes while it's charging and jetpack down them to maximize your FAST
- Bind your 'climb' key to alt and your 'dive' key to spacebar, so you can use spacebar to dive in combat and alt to jetpack when it's ready, holding sprint auto-climbs so there's not really a reason to put climb on spacebar instead of dive which you should be using way more (it was like this in HD1, no clue why they changed it)
Yeah, it would be flamer if it didn't have such a slow turn radius when you're aiming it. It aims as slow as a heavy machine gun when you need it to be really agile in close quarters, so I hope they fix this aspect of it. It's really powerful outside of that

Its cause its a jump pack not a jetpack. I think if it actually was a jet pack and you had to manage heat or self-destruct like the railgun it would function better.

if you spam the interact button the items can glitch out and you cant grab them, so just pick it up slow and let the animation finish / dont let multiple people grab for items together
most i've made in a single mission was 80 SC and it took about 20 min total. if you get lucky and have a scanner it could be faster
NTA but more or less. I've bought two armor sets and I'm sitting at 850 SC right now, was hitting difficulty 2-3 for common samples with a friend, both with light armor and covering as much of the map as possible.

Would this game benefit from base/defensive outpost building? Feel as though it's lacking something when compared to DRG. They have the added benefit of mining and all the additional strategies which come with that.

Helldivers meta is about completing the objectives as fast as possible, not triggering alarms (avoiding patrols or killing asap). Mechs are situational, only good for "defence" situations, they're essentially just player-controlled mobile turrets.
90% of time in HD is spent running from obj to another obj, and avoiding combat unless you need to protect something.
Based on rough terrain I wonder how well they will actually play too.
if it's like HD1 which most shit is, they will move through snow and plants at full speed but have no options for mobility beyond that

I'm not sure about this light armor with explosion protection, the one from supercredit store, light armor is great with bugs, but explosion protection is great with robots, for high difficulty robots, heavy armor with explosion protection is best, right?
