The helldivers only get called in for shit behind enemy lines. There are regular infantry, they are packed into meatcubes on bot planets and presumably inside the nests on bug planets

they were very slow in HD1 and more like mechwarrior assault mechs. Slow to turn, have to position them at the enemy or you'll get flanked easily

In HD1 mechs felt op until difficulty 12 where their only use was escort/defense crutch. People had to haul ass otherwise they'd get overrun quickly

I think the idea is that there are many divers on a ship (or your clones) but one runs it at a time or the democracy officer runs it

It's probably one helldiver+clones with the democracy officer being a spy that will take control if any treason is found.

I think it would be a neat thing if they let you set a preset of armors that is shuffled each time you respawn. They already do this with the voices, so it would fit well in my opinion.

Your average guardsmen are those SEAF corpses scattered about outposts and such. Helldivers are just nutcases sent on 40 minute hit and run missions, pulling the battle cluster back before the main force of whatever occupying force arrives. It's why the enemies spawn more often the longer you linger.

        Anonymous

helldivers are just better equipped soldiers with their own personal destroyers on call 24/7 to nuke whatever they want. the only difference between them and normal soldiers is probably zealotry, given helldiver recruits are 90+% patriotic and willing to do crazy shit even if it kills them

        >Main force arrives
        >90% of the planet is nuked
I wonder if the main military has hatred/rivalry with the helldivers since they basically frick everything up and take the glory. I wonder how many SE citizens dream about becoming a helldiver while disrespecting the regular armed forces despite most of them having a longer expiration date than a helldiver.

You play as a ship, helldivers is about meatwaves. That's why default voice is random, reinforcements are new recruits.

They're not, it's a starship troopers film pastiche which means humanity is kind of moronic. Everyone and everything is disposable and their tactics aren't all that effective. You dump dozens of human beings at a problem and an absurd amount of fire support and munitions and you solve .00002 percent of the problem if you're lucky.

6 stims is really good, other than that the heavy one that lowers recoil is pretty good. dont feel a difference going from heavy to light though, even if its something as hard to see as making you harder to hit while diving, because i cant tell a difference with stamina. being able to ping multiple enemies and for longer is worth it with the scout stuff though

        Unfortunately, it's Medium-Heavy.

        Medium armor is:
        > Armor 100
        > Speed 500

        But that snowtrooper plate is
        > Armor 125

Is it just me, but on difficulty Challenging (I think it's 4?) it becomes pretty much impossible to solo? If you trigger even a single patrol, from this difficulty on, it becomes an endless loop of bug breach/dropships. I know that you aren't supposed to fight patrols, but you can only dodge them until so much, eventually you will run into frickers around the objective, since they seem to be heading towards you anyway even if they don't "see" you.

Literally git gud at killing chaff.

Enemies enter an alerted state when they first notice you, but that doesn't instantly start a fight, just divert course and get behind something or further away from them. The light armor that lowers detection rate makes it even easier.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NProtect_GameGuard
      >nProtect GameGuard (sometimes called GG) is an anti-cheating rootkit developed by INCA Internet. It is widely installed in many online games to block possibly malicious applications and prevent common methods of cheating.[1][2][3] nProtect GameGuard provides B2B2C (Business to Business to Consumer) security services for online game companies and portal sites. The software is considered to be one of three software programs which "dominate the online game security market".[4]
      >GameGuard uses rootkits to proactively prevent cheat software from running.[5] GameGuard hides the game application process, monitors the entire memory range, terminates applications defined by the game vendor and INCA Internet to be cheats (QIP for example[citation needed]), blocks certain calls to Direct X functions and Windows APIs, keylogs keyboard input[citation needed], and auto-updates itself to change as new possible threats surface.[1]
It's a rootkit and arguably a hardware-level rootkit since it tends to get out of control and frick up shit it ought not to be fricking with.

Content-farming and something to b***h about. personally what I think matters is the business/publisher using this kernel-level access. I'd be more suspicious of some no-name rando publisher with their own anti-cheat. In this case it's Sony, I'd say the complaints are overblown.
What's kinda funny is that Sony has a past with drm abuse, going back to the days of cd-roms, notably music CDs. However, I don't think this anti-cheat has any nefarious things going on in the background.

The actual gameplay is just that good. They nailed perfectly the gunplay, how the enemies respond to being damaged, it never gets old dismembering bugs, or blowing heads off bots, and don't even get me started about the various airstrikes and orbital strikes, when they hit and take out several enemies, or big ones, not even porn can make me cum that much.
And the entire game has a tongue in cheek self aware satire vibe, constantly spewing shit about democracy and liberty, that they got perfectly so they are funny but not annoying.

A true co-op game. There are crew fired weapons. Because of the limited air strikes and weapons each person can bring there's no chance one guy carries the whole team. Calling things out (even if it's just pings) and coordinating fire is important. It's a real "strive together or die together" experience.

Besides the occasional one guy fricking off to the other side of the map, even randoms stick together without the shared screen. People are pretty respondent to pinging a location and knowing we're all moving there.

        >It's a real "strive together or die together" experience.
Joke's on you, when I play with randoms I always frick off to do objectives and collect samples alone, because people don't know how to avoid patrols and just farm bugs until they're overrun. While doing this I've also noticed there's a mob count limit, so eventually randos attract all bugs and even patrols stop spamming, making my work easy.

splitting up is a valid way to do missions tbh. especially for shit like launching an ICBM which requires 2 sub objectives first, just send two guys to one and yourself and another to another and save the time

Its just a solid shoot game. I like that even when you die its not a big deal, in most coop shooters dying is a huge frick up and you are aiming for flawless runs. In HD2 someone will whiff an airstrike and get cartwheeled across the map, and the reaction is to just laugh, not get upset.

Im actually surprised by the competency of teammates too, it seems they found a good way to get people to actually work together via gameplay, people actually stick together, gives supplies, wait for airstrikes and tandem reload, far too often in coop games it feels like you are just playing in the same game as other people, and not really playing with them.

Easier than you would think, stealth is an entirely valid option in this game, its just that with randoms they tend to shoot anything in sight.
          t. Cleared solo on Helldive, wear scout set so you can use radar on your map for patrols

            >t. Cleared solo on Helldive, wear scout set so you can use radar on your map for patrols
But isn't stealth impossible once you get to needing to evac? How do you manage that solo?

              Anonymous

Depending on how long you take on the mission is how bad the evac is, remember the mission is to extract, not get kills, even if you die with materials just run around and pick them up and keep running. As long as you completed the objectives even if you run out of lives the mission is still a success by the way, you just dont get to keep the materials you gathered.

Try soloing any mission and just do the main objectives, youll see what I mean. Its also the only time youll really get use out of stratagems like the mine fields, tesla coil and that stratagem that bombards a huge area with random fire, since you wont have to worry about friendly coordination.

wearing a cape would probably cause many problems, like it getting caught in something or it getting in the way of whatever you're doing, or if it gets caught up in your gun while it cycles. but the benefits of wearing a cape and feeling like a god among men far outweighs those trivialities

The game takes place on a galactic map with different planets, where players have to push the enemy factions off the table by liberating the affected planets, that is the goal to push for.

That is the 'max' estimation assuming at least one catch of SC per match
POI have a chance to drop bundles of 10, so you could get a god roll and have every POI with 10 SC and leave a well-explored map with like 60-100 SC
My highest yet was about 50 from a Suicide 7 bug mission, though only because we were constantly running and finding POI bunkers/shipping crates

              No
World pickups do not increase in value, its just that bigger worlds have more places to spawn POI
Of course, this does mean you can run Tier 1 missions and sprint around the small maps rolling the dice on POI for quick five-minute returns on medals/SC per time spent

          no it's fricking not

The difference between 7 and helldive is enormous. Light armor for bugs only, 500kg honestly seems to fall off here. Maybe if I had the ship upgrade to get another use out of it? But it is really only good for nests. If you whiff you're fricked for 3 minutes, I just roll cluster bomb, orbital railgun, personal rail gun, and maybe laser drone depending on the group. Breaker or dominator depending. Can't even really use the recoilless rocket on helldive because it takes too long to reload

I love the autocannon but it feels so flimsy against chargers. Maybe it's their hitboxes but it just bounces off most of the time on the soft parts. Even the underside of a Bio Titan bounces more often than not.

I think I'll just get the railgun and put it on unsafe mode to charge up shots.

      Anonymous

Autocannon cannot pierce the heavy vehicle armor of tanks/hulks/chargers/bile titans
It can still hit weakpoints, and having one on a team when facing the bots is helpful for sweeping up the smaller devestators/chainsawmen/ATST
Or just pack a railgun since that also can 100-0 Hulks with a headshot

Is there any downside of using CAS compare to using orbital support?
it said that there is limited number of use?

      Anonymous

depending on the mission parameters, orbital or eagle strikes could have a longer delay before landing on higher difficulties so you have to choose between the two unlike lower difficulties where you can have both. other than that eagle strikes are generally better than orbital ones

Hellbros, the flamer kills chargers extremely easily but it's bad against stalkers (the railgun is still supreme against these). I'm personally going jetpack + flamer to get distance from stalkers and sniping them with the marksman rifle and using it to juke and burn chargers.

      Anonymous

Why does the jetpack feel so anemic? You barely get any height or distance with it.

        Anonymous

It was too good in 1, but they nerfed it too hard.

It's purpose is supposed to be a get out of jail free card to being swarmed with melee enemies, but outside of that it's not satisfying to use or worth it taking up a back slot

        Anonymous

As a jetpack veteran, here is why:
        - Jetpack jump distance is based on your velocity, so you get the furthest jumps by using light armor. This is so heavy and medium armor can't use it to negate their armor movement speed disadvantage but can still use it to get on rooftops, I assume
        - Jumping off cliffs and slopes allows you to get extra distance, so try to sprint up slopes while it's charging and jetpack down them to maximize your FAST
        - Bind your 'climb' key to alt and your 'dive' key to spacebar, so you can use spacebar to dive in combat and alt to jetpack when it's ready, holding sprint auto-climbs so there's not really a reason to put climb on spacebar instead of dive which you should be using way more (it was like this in HD1, no clue why they changed it)

In a perfect would it would be the flamethrower if it didn't suck ass

Actually insane how much of a game changer the railgun is against bots
        >can cut in half all the Devestator units

Do the Bugs have an equivalent gun that trivializes them as much? I’ve been in the Binary Jungles and haven’t bounced back to try out the insecticide yet

Yeah, it would be flamer if it didn't have such a slow turn radius when you're aiming it. It aims as slow as a heavy machine gun when you need it to be really agile in close quarters, so I hope they fix this aspect of it. It's really powerful outside of that

          Anonymous

Thanks, I was looking for a good key to put dive on. Kept pressing alt + shift and accidentally typing in moonrunes

its pretty much good for cheesing the bugs by jumping on a high area they cannot pathfind into, though the flying bugs might still get you
i rather have the fuel version like in the first game, because the cooldown is way too long

        Anonymous

Its cause its a jump pack not a jetpack. I think if it actually was a jet pack and you had to manage heat or self-destruct like the railgun it would function better.

        pretty much
if you spam the interact button the items can glitch out and you cant grab them, so just pick it up slow and let the animation finish / dont let multiple people grab for items together

most i've made in a single mission was 80 SC and it took about 20 min total. if you get lucky and have a scanner it could be faster

NTA but more or less. I've bought two armor sets and I'm sitting at 850 SC right now, was hitting difficulty 2-3 for common samples with a friend, both with light armor and covering as much of the map as possible.

that's around 90 per hour. Still a bit too low for my taste, considering they can release stuff with 400 SC now. There's no telling if they won't release stuff at 600 or 800 SC later.

might be possible to do it faster if I keep optimizing

I don't entirely understand this, it's a miracle that we get actual variety in co-op games (especially shooters) nowadays but people just want the games to copy each other.

all I want is better wave missions, haven't even played DRG
they're quite lazy compared to the rest of the game

they could've made the wave missions waaay better with what they have right now
they could've even copied the literal Starship Troopers game with wall fortification and such

Why has no one tested out if GG is harmful or not?

Me and many other potential buyers are waiting until they fix the early issues. Did gameguard frick up your PC? Does it stop running after exiting game?

Dude GG has existed for a whole damn decade before HD2, if there was a serious fault or security fault with it, it would have been exposed far before HD2.

Like it's not good its the cheapest asain slop on the market but its not nefarious.

I really don't like that armor isn't cosmetic. Standard issue armor is peak, but this trailblazer scout set is exactly what I like. Bullshit.

      Anonymous

They really should move armor perks to its own perk slot. But that would stop whales from seeing armor in the cash shop with a perk they like and blowing $6 ($4 plus you just have to have the matching helmet!).

        Anonymous

Yeah, won't happen. That scout set with Fortify for instance shows that niches are filled by certain armors. I'll be happy if there's ever a transmog. Wouldn't harm their monetary much. They're roping in meta slaves and cosmetic gays with this scheme.

How bad could the anticheat possibly be since the game actually runs fine on Proton? From what I understand any invasive anticheat just refuses to work on Linux.

install linux if it really bothers you that much. Shit if your clutching pearls about kernal level shit I'm extremely surpirsed you haven't done so already. You do know windoes 8 and up has an always running process for windows telemetry right? Microsoft has a text file with every single keystroke you've ever typed, and this shit bothers you?

cmon man I'm really sick of these questions shitting up HD2 threads

not him but I disabled everything "auto" and all telemetries upon wangblow 10 install. an average Ganker user should be able to do that

          Anonymous

This isn't the thread for this, but you can't disable the telemetry in 10. It's baked into the system, e.g. explorer.

As anon said your either ignorant and shitposting. It really is baked into the software. I tried myself, I have some ubuntu experience from working with casino software, and it's hardcoded into how your OS processes search requests, you CAN get rid of it but uhhh.... You can't really use search functions anymore just type into command fobs. Not sure what your talking about?

Maybe, might have to run into reggies and mess with LOD's but I think so. Worst offender for frames is post processing which I'm not sure you can fully disable without some things breaking gameplay wise.

    >Mechs
Once the novelty wears out, people will stop using it besides new players because omg mechs!!1!

Helldivers meta is about completing the objectives as fast as possible, not triggering alarms (avoiding patrols or killing asap). Mechs are situational, only good for "defence" situations, they're essentially just player-controlled mobile turrets.

90% of time in HD is spent running from obj to another obj, and avoiding combat unless you need to protect something.

you dont need to convince, i already love mechs.

      > 90% of time in HD is spent running from obj to another obj, and avoiding combat unless you need to protect something.

yes, but that's not where the fun is. the fun isnt in activating objectives. the fun is in working together as a team and have insane and stupid shit happen to you

        Anonymous

The "fun" you're describing gets old once you've played the game enough.

        >Weeee, whacky friendly fire! xD

Here's my prediction: zoomers and twitch streamers after a few months get bored of the bug-horde shooting and move on to the next flavor of the month game.

The only people who will continue playing HD2 are the hardcore who will fight at max level and master the stealth aspect of the game, figure out the meta and best loadouts.

As someone who prefers light armor, the explosion protection seemed like a good pick for me over map pings, and this is the only set with it so far
