HMG: Seems kinda pointless against both bugs and to an extent against bots despise a few advantages in comparison to the regular mg. Not even a backpack machine gun which is mostly what i assume most people want. Feels redudant and useless.

Honestly I've been fricking around with it in Helldive, that charge up time can and will frick you over in moments where you really need to take a hulk out. Ditto with precise aiming on anything moving because the distortion from the barrel fricks up your sights.
The quasar is still crazy good and they should have probably given it some type of ammo consumption. Maybe like 4 shots before the heat sink wears out and needs to be replaced or something.

Ice planets don't actually help it fire more often because you literally cannot fire it for 10 or so seconds regardless of it's heat value. Even when your heat is at 0 the game won't let you fire it again.

For some reason the ice planet's effect on the heatsink isn't being factored in. The heatsink always hits 0 a few seconds before the quasar cannon lets you fire again, so on ice planets the CD should be even shorter.

Honestly i prefer the Dagger and Senator to the Redeemer against bots. Against bugs you might as well cave in and take the only good option. But overall the dagger is in a similar situation than the scythe if not worse because it doesn't seem nearly as accurate on top. It's paying too much of a price for no reason if the sickle is considered balanced. The quasar cannon is just adding more fuel to the fire.

Quasar is OP and desperately needs a nerf, it is literally the Recoilless Rifle but infinite ammo, no backpack slot, and faster reload while you can still move.
The heavy machine gun is actually balanced solely because you have no hipfire reticle and have to rely on the funky ass first person ADS to control recoil instead.

The low rank lower difficulties should be all in mostly conventional armor, and after more content releases and time, the higher ranked people on high difficulties should be wearing exoskeleton power armor with guns that shoot pure liberty. This isn't a surprising thing.
Considering that the first game had 15 difficulties they'll probably just add more. Frankly the currently Helldiver difficulty bugs feels like difficulty 7 bugs used to so I hope they do.

I don't care about fighting fairly against bugs and bots. It's not a PVP game. The new Quasar cannon is definitely a straight upgrade over EAT and recoilless rifle. HMG is a slight side grade towards more firepower, it's so cumbersome to use compared to MG and Stalwart. If you use the jetpack, you can reload in midair, so whatever.
I don't think they realize how little assisted reload matters in HD2 compared to HD1. You're no longer forced to stay together due to the camera, then there's the fact you need to have the assister equip the backpack which is stupid.
Yeah, the backpack ruins it. It would be useful and fun as frick to be able to just attach to a guy who's already wearing everything and help him kick twice as much ass for a moment without needing to cripple myself.
I think you’re just going to have one guy running Quasar+backpack forever in addition to you and the lads with autos. I wish more people liked reload assisting so the recoilless can really shine.
Team reloading sucks because it means you either lose your ammo supply and force someone else to take a backpack they can't use 90% of the time, or the other person has to stick to you like glue, limiting your agility. You can team reload if two people bring the same weapon, but save for the RR that's sacrificing your own ability to fire your gun to let the other person fire faster.
As other people have also said, it makes no sense to contort your hand to grab ammo from your backpack to feed into someone else's gun while it makes much more sense to take ammo from THEIR backpack and feed it into their gun. That's how team reload should work.

quasar is pretty good. the charge up time doesn't feel egregious and the cd seems very generous. EATs still have a lot of strengths, the main one being you always have them if you die, but it's nice to have something else to play with and use that strategem slot for another orbital or eagle.
Bots need to take more severe vision and accuracy penalties from sight-obscuring weather. It's moronic how far they can see through the fog on Troost when it's just a white wall to the player.
Yes, its part of its balance, you cannot hip fire the thing and have to rely on the weird as frick first person reticle to roughly guess where the recoil is taking your shots.

Honestly using EAT/RR and then shooting 1 second at their leg was good enough, and it would have still been a one shot by shooting their ass after waiting a bit.
The whole change basically did nothing but made good weapons even stronger. Even the flamethrower before the buff killed them fast so they effectively only made the kings stronger, and the other weapons just as useless or niche.
You do understand that an anti tank weapon is specifically and precisely designed to pierce heavy thick armor, right? And that most things die when their brain is destroyed? Also, having to set up and get a shot off just before/right as the charger is charging is exhilerating and fricks you up if you frick it up. Way more rewarding than just sidestepping and shooting its butt.

Because it's not a weak spot, it's just the only part of the charger that's considered to be a squishy bit you can deal damage to through conventional means. However squishy bits take 90% reduced damage from projectiles outside of explosives, which deal normal damage. So even if you shoot it with an explosive weapon it's still not a weak spot because you're just dealing normal damage.

What I mean by use your heights is that you have aiming advantage. You have to kill bots quickly or else they'll overwhelm you. Do not fight a hulk unless you know you can kill it quickly. Their eyes are their weakpoints. All bots have them. Learn to aim quickly at them.
Who knows. At the very least all of the machine gun strats should have 3 mag capacity. Stalwart has something like 400 round mags doesn't it? LMG has 150 and mag capacity gets cut down to 2 and then the HMG mags get cut in half again. But with the HMG you also have to ADS to get a crosshair.
devs should go the opposite direction on team reload. you want to use ac, rr, or spear? have to use team reload only. they are meant to be crew served weapons. get friendly with your squad.

IMO Recoilless may be obsolete but EAT's are still goat for one reason: There's a charge up on the bazooka. I almost rather have an EAT that I can fling two shots at the enemy instantly than a single charge up shot even if I don't need to call it in.
That said I think Recoilless still has its uses because it's instant fire as well.
As an EAT chad dont forget its hidden power. EAT seems to stick to chargers, so call EATs down ontop of a charger, it will track them, drop onto them and kill them, then yuou still get 2 shots.

No, it was nerfed because it was a catch all weapon that did everything with literally no draw back.
It could be left in safe more and core hulks, chargers, devestators, everything.
The only nerf they did was make it so that you need to over charge it to pierce heavy armor, over charge still does the same amount of damage.

It doesn't really penetrate heavy armor anymore anywhere below 90% and thats IMO way too long. way better to just take EATs now and you get the same effect.
There is a little line on the charge meter once it crosses it you are good. It will still one shot a hulk and 1 shot devestators. It also reloads on the move, has 20 shots, no backpack either.
Before it was filling the role of AT weapons like the RR and EAT, now its more like a bigger version of the AMR. Which is what it should be.

Quasar is probably too strong with its infinite ammo but that's easily fixed with longer charge time/ longer cooldown time
IMO Quasar would be fine if it had 3 ICE canisters like the other energy weapons that it ejected each shot.
At least then it's not constant flow of endless shooting.
I don't think they can meaningfully nerf the Quasar in a way that doesn't ruin the concept. If you give it ammo, you're either reinforcing the idea that it's a better RR (no backpack, and you can take the supply backpack for much better ammo reserves), or a worse EAT (if you only get get 1-2 shots).
What they need to do is buff the RR in a way that gives you a reason to use it instead. The foremost thing would be letting anyone reload-assist you from your own ammo backpack, rather than forcing them to equip it. But the RR should probably get twice as many missiles back from ammo/supply packs as it does now, or even have its overall capacity increased.
The only way to meaningfully nerf the Quasar without it becoming just a better/worse version of another weapon like you said is to increase the time it takes for it to charge. But as a side note, make it so releasing the button doesn't instantly empty your charge back to zero, so you can essentially "edge" the weapon until you want to actually fire it, but with no visible way of telling when its close to firing you run the risk of an early shoot and now have to wait until its done cooling down.

its already too slow a charge on high difficulties, when you got 3+ elite robots bearing down on you, you're lucky to get off 1 shot before taking damage from one of the others, its a great opener and finisher weapon, and great for sniping elites from a long distance, but so was the autocannon.
Important to remember that a lot of the initial reviews for the quasar cannon probably come from Vandalon, which was cold and so made it cool down faster.
Nah I was on the new bot planet who's name I forgot and it's temperate, it's kickass for hulks and turrets, also necessary because it has atmospheric interference, so EATs take twice as long to come down.
An oversized hulk mounted onto a tank, weapons are either;
Left arm - Autocannon or Flamethrower
Right arm - Machine Gun or Grenade Launcher
Oh and it literally shits out stratagem jammer turrets while it drives around.

Reminder that the railgun nerf was made solely because of this bug making the weapon seem busted when in reality it wasn't, and yet the bug still exists.

Are you still using the railgun or did you switch to something else? Was never a fan of the railgun myself (I always used the arc thrower on bugs), but ever since the change to charger armor I've been bringing the RR every time and it feela great.
Making the quasar cannon too weak to one-shot hulks and chargers would mean it isn't worth taking, due to the low rate of fire and charge-up time. But as it is, it's strictly better than the RR in almost every circumstance.
The solution, clearly, is to buff the RR. And also change how crew-assisted loading works so the wielder carries the backpack rather than the assistant.
Letting the wielder carry the backpack for crew-assisted loading would already be a significant buff, because then you can have allies help out opportunistically rather than needing to premeditate it.
Beyond that, let the RR overpenetrate through chaff so they can't block your LoS to heavy targets, and let it recover twice as much ammo from ammo/resupply packs (2/4 instead of 1/2).
the extra hp and armour are worth in eradication missions you know when get shot a lot and don't run much.
when the bikes and cars drop will be viable on other missions.
Is the autocannon good? It kinda makes me just want to use EATs since things like chargers or whatever take a lot of shots. I'm probably missing their critical weakspots though, which seems mandatory to make the AC actually good.

The autocannon is my favorite weapon. It's extremely versatile. The only thing you can't do with it is kill a Bile Titan. Maybe you could with enough ammo, but don't bother. You can 2 or 3 shot a charger from the rear, though.
It can't pierce heavy armor, so if you want to oneshot things use EATs instead. You'll need to aim for weakpoints on those. However, it does stagger what it hits, its shots explode, letting you seal nests/factories, and it reloads relatively quickly and chambers lots of rounds. Against Chargers aim for its ass or the rear legs, not the head.
they need to fix the 500kg kill hitbox, i've more than twice seen it fall on top of a hulk and some bots for it to kill only one or two and leave the hulk and a little scout bot alive.
So the bile titan is supposed to be the ultimate bug right? Like it makes you go "oh shit" in every encounter, I don't feel the same way with hulks since I can just 1 shot railgun them in the eye, the same way you deal with every other automatons, so when do we get a bot that make your ass cheeks clench as hard as bile titans? No, the upcoming giant robot dog don't count.
The analogue of bile titans are tanks/ifvs, not hulks. Hulks are the equivalent of a charger, right down to having a glowing ass and a vulnerable forehead.
Its a pure upgrade if you're ranging out solo, but I reckon EATs are still overall better if you're sticking with the group and hunkering down for big fights, especially so if multiple people in said group also brought EATs as that completely nullifies its only weakness.
I think the Quasar is in a good place relative to EATs. The problem is mostly that it invalidates the RR, but that speaks more to the glaring problems with the RR.
Depends on what you're fighting. If bugs the EAT oneshots Chargers, but the Machine Gun works too if you magdump into its ass. If bots use the anti-material rifle and aim for weakpoints.
Eagle airstrike is the best eagle strat.
You can get it early and it's the one thing that you'll want to bring to every game.
Orb Laser is the best against bots, mid against bugs.

Honestly I've been fricking around with it in Helldive, that charge up time can and will frick you over in moments where you really need to take a hulk out. Ditto with precise aiming on anything moving because the distortion from the barrel fricks up your sights.

Ice planets don't actually help it fire more often because you literally cannot fire it for 10 or so seconds regardless of it's heat value. Even when your heat is at 0 the game won't let you fire it again.

For some reason the ice planet's effect on the heatsink isn't being factored in. The heatsink always hits 0 a few seconds before the quasar cannon lets you fire again, so on ice planets the CD should be even shorter.

Honestly i prefer the Dagger and Senator to the Redeemer against bots. Against bugs you might as well cave in and take the only good option. But overall the dagger is in a similar situation than the scythe if not worse because it doesn't seem nearly as accurate on top. It's like playing XCOM and being mad that starter ballistic rifles aren't balanced with the endgame plasma rifles.
The low rank lower difficulties should be all in mostly conventional armor, and after more content releases and time, the higher ranked people on high difficulties should be wearing exoskeleton power armor with guns that shoot pure liberty. This isn't a surprising thing.
Where does the power creep ends? Too much of it and you ruin the game. Seen it many times before.
Considering that the first game had 15 difficulties they'll probably just add more. Frankly the currently Helldiver difficulty bugs feels like difficulty 7 bugs used to so I hope they do.

I don't care about fighting fairly against bugs and bots. It's not a PVP game. The new Quasar cannon is definitely a straight upgrade over EAT and recoilless rifle. HMG is a slight side grade towards more firepower, it's so cumbersome to use compared to MG and Stalwart. If you use the jetpack, you can reload in midair, so whatever.
I don't think they realize how little assisted reload matters in HD2 compared to HD1. You're no longer forced to stay together due to the camera, then there's the fact you need to have the assister equip the backpack which is stupid.
Yeah, the backpack ruins it. It would be useful and fun as frick to be able to just attach to a guy who's already wearing everything and help him kick twice as much ass for a moment without needing to cripple myself.

I think you’re just going to have one guy running Quasar+backpack forever in addition to you and the lads with autos. I wish more people liked reload assisting so the recoilless can really shine.
Team reloading sucks because it means you either lose your ammo supply and force someone else to take a backpack they can't use 90% of the time, or the other person has to stick to you like glue, limiting your agility. You can team reload if two people bring the same weapon, but save for the RR that's sacrificing your own ability to fire your gun to let the other person fire faster.
As other people have also said, it makes no sense to contort your hand to grab ammo from your backpack to feed into someone else's gun while it makes much more sense to take ammo from THEIR backpack and feed it into their gun. That's how team reload should work.

quasar is pretty good. the charge up time doesn't feel egregious and the cd seems very generous. EATs still have a lot of strengths, the main one being you always have them if you die, but it's nice to have something else to play with and use that strategem slot for another orbital or eagle.

The best change to charger would have been to nerf the health pool of the ass and make some explosive weapons like the dominator or Lib C (previously EXPLOSIVE and should have followed through with this design) able to dispatch them fast using this new improved vulnerability. Honestly using EAT/RR and then shooting 1 second at their leg was good enough, and it would have still been a one shot by shooting their ass after waiting a bit.
The whole change basically did nothing but made good weapons even stronger. Even the flamethrower before the buff killed them fast so they effectively only made the kings stronger, and the other weapons just as useless or niche.
It was just to appease r*dditors babies after they shat their diapers with the railgun nerf.
You do understand that an anti tank weapon is specifically and precisely designed to pierce heavy thick armor, right? And that most things die when their brain is destroyed? Also, having to set up and get a shot off just before/right as the charger is charging is exhilerating and fricks you up if you frick it up. Way more rewarding than just sidestepping and shooting its butt.
They honestly should have kept the spawn amount the same, but gone through with the same nerfs

The Charger's ass is badly designed all around, its somehow the worst spot you can aim for despite it being the designated weak spot.
Because it's not a weak spot, it's just the only part of the charger that's considered to be a squishy bit you can deal damage to through conventional means. However squishy bits take 90% reduced damage from projectiles outside of explosives, which deal normal damage. So even if you shoot it with an explosive weapon it's still not a weak spot because you're just dealing normal damage.

What I mean by use your heights is that you have aiming advantage. You have to kill bots quickly or else they'll overwhelm you. Do not fight a hulk unless you know you can kill it quickly. Their eyes are their weakpoints. All bots have them. Learn to aim quickly at them.

Who knows. At the very least all of the machine gun strats should have 3 mag capacity. Stalwart has something like 400 round mags doesn't it? LMG has 150 and mag capacity gets cut down to 2 and then the HMG mags get cut in half again. But with the HMG you also have to ADS to get a crosshair.

IMO Recoilless may be obsolete but EAT's are still goat for one reason: There's a charge up on the bazooka. I almost rather have an EAT that I can fling two shots at the enemy instantly than a single charge up shot even if I don't need to call it in.
That said I think Recoilless still has its uses because it's instant fire as well.
As an EAT chad dont forget its hidden power. EAT seems to stick to chargers, so call EATs down ontop of a charger, it will track them, drop onto them and kill them, then yuou still get 2 shots.

No, it was nerfed because it was a catch all weapon that did everything with literally no draw back.
It could be left in safe more and core hulks, chargers, devestators, everything.

It doesn't really penetrate heavy armor anymore anywhere below 90% and thats IMO way too long. way better to just take EATs now and you get the same effect.
There is a little line on the charge meter once it crosses it you are good. It will still one shot a hulk and 1 shot devestators. It also reloads on the move, has 20 shots, no backpack either.
Before it was filling the role of AT weapons like the RR and EAT, now its more like a bigger version of the AMR. Which is what it should be.

Quasar having a 3 shot limit refillable by ammo packs while also not taking a pack slot seems fair.
With an ammo pool that small you may as well take the EAT instead.
I don't think they can meaningfully nerf the Quasar in a way that doesn't ruin the concept. If you give it ammo, you're either reinforcing the idea that it's a better RR (no backpack, and you can take the supply backpack for much better ammo reserves), or a worse EAT (if you only get get 1-2 shots).
What they need to do is buff the RR in a way that gives you a reason to use it instead. The foremost thing would be letting anyone reload-assist you from your own ammo backpack, rather than forcing them to equip it. But the RR should probably get twice as many missiles back from ammo/supply packs as it does now, or even have its overall capacity increased.
The only way to meaningfully nerf the Quasar without it becoming just a better/worse version of another weapon like you said is to increase the time it takes for it to charge. But as a side note, make it so releasing the button doesn't instantly empty your charge back to zero, so you can essentially "edge" the weapon until you want to actually fire it, but with no visible way of telling when its close to firing you run the risk of an early shoot and now have to wait until its done cooling down.
I unironically think the better way to adjust it would be to let people start charging another shot before it cools down, so you can actually burn out heat sinks if you aren't careful, the same as other laser weapons.
its already too slow a charge on high difficulties, when you got 3+ elite robots bearing down on you, you're lucky to get off 1 shot before taking damage from one of the others, its a great opener and finisher weapon, and great for sniping elites from a long distance, but so was the autocannon.
Important to remember that a lot of the initial reviews for the quasar cannon probably come from Vandalon, which was cold and so made it cool down faster.

It's MG with two mags that has the penetration of the autocannon, that's a big difference.
If you're playing with a PS5 player, Bile Titans still take two Railgun shots to the head to die. If you're playing solo then they take 13 shots instead.
Reminder that the railgun nerf was made solely because of this bug making the weapon seem busted when in reality it wasn't, and yet the bug still exists.

Also while I know HD2 isn’t hard for people who have played plenty of games, for the average person it is very difficult. The mechanics of the game, even down to dropping full magazines, avoiding friendly fire, or using different weapons for different situations, are very complex for people who have pretty much only played shit like COD and FIFA.

Making the quasar cannon too weak to one-shot hulks and chargers would mean it isn't worth taking, due to the low rate of fire and charge-up time. But as it is, it's strictly better than the RR in almost every circumstance.
The solution, clearly, is to buff the RR. And also change how crew-assisted loading works so the wielder carries the backpack rather than the assistant.
The RR can already 1 shot hulks and chargers, how would you buff it any further? The enemies run away when they see you pointing the RR at them?
Letting the wielder carry the backpack for crew-assisted loading would already be a significant buff, because then you can have allies help out opportunistically rather than needing to premeditate it.
Beyond that, let the RR overpenetrate through chaff so they can't block your LoS to heavy targets, and let it recover twice as much ammo from ammo/resupply packs (2/4 instead of 1/2).
These two buffs alone would me cry, cum and shit myself.

The autocannon is my favorite weapon. It's extremely versatile. The only thing you can't do with it is kill a Bile Titan. Maybe you could with enough ammo, but don't bother. You can 2 or 3 shot a charger from the rear, though.
It can't pierce heavy armor, so if you want to oneshot things use EATs instead. You'll need to aim for weakpoints on those. However, it does stagger what it hits, its shots explode, letting you seal nests/factories, and it reloads relatively quickly and chambers lots of rounds. Against Chargers aim for its ass or the rear legs, not the head.
they need to fix the 500kg kill hitbox, i've more than twice seen it fall on top of a hulk and some bots for it to kill only one or two and leave the hulk and a little scout bot alive.

The analogue of bile titans are tanks/ifvs, not hulks. Hulks are the equivalent of a charger, right down to having a glowing ass and a vulnerable forehead.
The quasar is a pure sidegrade to the EAT. It's far less accurate and the charge time is a severe penalty.

Its a pure upgrade if you're ranging out solo, but I reckon EATs are still overall better if you're sticking with the group and hunkering down for big fights, especially so if multiple people in said group also brought EATs as that completely nullifies its only weakness.
On the other hand it's always with you and has a faster cooldown.
I think the Quasar is in a good place relative to EATs. The problem is mostly that it invalidates the RR, but that speaks more to the glaring problems with the RR.

When you get the stun grenade the orbital precision strike works well enough.

Depends on what you're fighting. If bugs the EAT oneshots Chargers, but the Machine Gun works too if you magdump into its ass. If bots use the anti-material rifle and aim for weakpoints.

You can get it early and it's the one thing that you'll want to bring to every game.

Extracting is optional, you win by completing the main objective 🙂

No, EAT and Quasar are side grades to each other, and really is about what do you want sustained fire over a longer period of time? Or do you want high burst. Its a dealers choice there.
The quasar is a direct upgrade to the RR or the Spear if you are running those weapons solo with their back packs.
I haven't played in a while. Has the recoilless rifle been buffed? I loved that shit, but the EAT was basically better in every way.
