I refunded it, just felt like a charismatic Division without the looting, but with more reloading, disconnects and less customization. Maybe I'll try it out in a few years when it has more going for it and the game is actually playable, and doesn't disconnect as often.

Higher difficulties, particularly 6 and above, are really fun. I pretty much only run 7-9 anymore. The game gets way better around account level 15, which is maybe 10-12 hours of gameplay. You start unlocking really nasty stratagems.

Breaker does nothing to armour, every weapon can deal with chaff. Its the armoured or partially armoured enemies that are always the threat, if youre using autocannon or railgun, or even the MG, the breaker is just eating your ammo pickups for those weapons. Its preference really, do you want to plap striders the moment you see them with a railgun stratagem main, or try and run around the back of them in every encounter to shoot them because you are using airstrikes and not stratagem weapons.
Plasma rifle can three-shot striders from the front. It's my preferred weapon when fighting bots, since it's very accurate at any range but still counts as an explosive for the weak point vents on tanks, hulks, and cannon towers.
A benefit of the plasma weapon is that it never ricochets off armor. As a result, you can shoot the front of the armored AT-ST the robots use and it will explode on the visor, killing the driver in three shots despite not technically penetrating.
By contrast, the Dominator shells will ricochet off the armor and do nothing.
Really, the Penetrator is that weak? I was pushing through to unlock it just so I could have a standard weapon that has penetration for fighting bots

Not really, SMG is great for that, the laser doesnt use ammo and the pump shotguns reload per shot, rather than the whole mag, which makes they great for just shooting smaller enemies without worrying about wasting ammo. The marksman rifles are fine too if you can aim.
I snuggle my MG to deal with bots right now, and as much as I like the SMG, I end up just using the MG more so I'd hoped the Penetrator would be a good standard weapon for how armored even the heavy automaton infantry is
if you're going for headshots vs bots, the Med Pen is fricked since it staggers them

It's damn difficult, maybe doable if you have a crack group. I tried 4ish times before I joined the turret group
it's not defense missions, it's CAMPAIGNS. if you look at a planet where the defense mission is active you will see a blue bar, a red bar and a timer. to win a campaign the playerbase needs to get that blue bar higher than the red bar within the time limit.
as another anon said, this might be impossible to do without great effort in order to give an in-game excuse for mechs and tanks. whether that is true or not, idk. just keep killing tin cans and do the hardest missions possible.

I really don't get why they included the ballistic shield save that it was in the first game. The directional energy shield (SH-32) would have been a much better option to fill that role.

Its actually really good for damage, the problem is that it makes the area around you a hazard. Its a liability until they add a "take reduced/no damage from fire effects" booster or you can pick your opportunities better
Takes like 3/4 a canister of direct shot on a heavy charger to kill it, which is really good actually considering you can pick up regular ammo to replinish the flamethrower, and on things like evac if you spray down a chokepoint you can delete a whole wave, and have the wave behind them has to walk through fire and take damage before getting close.

It takes about half a second to charge a shot that will kill fodder bugs, ignores armor, spreads through a crown, and will pop the heads of brood guardians if you aim it right.
Yes you do still have to aim the arc rifle and you also have to learn how to avoid getting its trajectory caught on corpses.

Okay I'll be honest, I abuse my teammates drawing aggro and the 1 wave spawn limit to survive on my own. Thinking on it, it's probably way more effecient to have one player at least draw out 1 wave spawn across the map so the other three can rush an objective.
Most games on Helldive that I play, we have two people drawing all the swarms at a single objective while the other two people go solo roving to get the other objectives and collect materials.

Just keep upping difficulty and if you fail, stay there and try again. Eventually you hit Helldive. Watch what your teammates do while you're dead.

In my games SPEAR seems to consistantly take down bile titans in 1-2 shots, the finicky part is if there are two heavy units close to each other, which screws with the lockon. I've started using the first person aiming mode and so far it's been a bit better.
IMO, when you need precision, take recoilless, but if you're up against a ton of heavies take SPEAR

I haven't fought robots yet since I just started playing but from what I've gathered is that you need to make separate loadouts as certain weapons are useless against certain enemy types and vice versa, most morons probably haven't realized this yet so they go into bot missions with bug loadouts and get wiped as a result as they do no damage.
Helldive, everyone brings mortars and sits up top near the tower. Game basically plays itself.
Good way to get all the gear and still be a shitter with no idea how to handle swarms at level 50.
We really need more uses for Requisition Slips
What they need is consumables. Something like boosters except you have to pay requisition for them every time. Otherwise you'll have everyone sitting on 50k forever once they unlock everything.
I suggested a community resource sink a while back in the discord but we'll see if they go through with it. Might be fun to use as a community goal to unlock new guns or armor for the playerbase.
For me, it'd be applying temporary stratagems like those incendiary mines. Something unique would be nice if they have the assets but not sure what. Unlocks are temporary, modifiers that go away after a set time would be a forever sink.

The citizen extraction missions are impossible. It spawns half a dozen tanks and hulks on you at once so the citizens can barely walk 10 feet before getting killed, and destroying them is pretty much pointless since there's always more dropping in anyway. It's like they didn't even play test them.

They are in fact possible but it requires everyone to be coordinated and on top of their game to a monstrous degree compared to any other mission at the same difficulty. The issue is primarily that the drop ships deploy on the fricking evacuation routes instead of outside the facility, meaning you have no way to respond to them.
Compounded by the fact that shooting down a dropship does nothing to the passengers. Fairly certain that's a bug.
I've been clearing the evacuation missions pretty consistently with random at difficulty 7-9, mostly 7
The trick is a frick ton of mortars, my setup is:
Railgun
Eagle airstrike
Ems Mortar
Mortar
If everyone else runs mortars too, the mission goes quite smoothly, sometimes I get guys running EATs Spears and Autocannons to shoot down the dropships, but it's inconsistent, sometimes all the bots die with the drop ship, sometimes the dropship blows up and the bots literally just teleport down to where they would land, completely unharmed
1 guy on each door, hitting the button on cooldown, only time it gets sketchy is when the bots drop directly on top of the path to the shuttle bay, especially if it's a tank, some civic die, extending the mission
I managed to do it once with a full squad of randos on impossible. Went back later that day with a different squad and we couldn't even extract half of the citizens and seemed like more bots were spawning than before but maybe we just weren't killing them fast enough.

I usually run around in light armor, but I use heavy in defense missions. You do have more HP and the substats like recoil reduction can be felt if you're switching between light and heavy. I don't use medium, so it might be that there's less of a jump from medium to heavy or light than light to heavy

Comparable to DRG, but more focus on the action. Everyone I play with is competant the higher difficulty you go having learned the objectives and no voice necessary. I wish travseral was as interesting as in DRG but you can't have much verticality with airstrike gameplay.
High difficulties are unplayable since you have to actively avoid patrols while randoms shoot at everything that moves.
Middle of the pack difficulties are doable but frustrating.

Flood/necromorphs. But only as like a 3rd special enemy who appears alongside the main factions occasionally. The more corpses left on the field, the more they'd multiply. All those human corpses you find in robocamps can be used that way contextually. Would eventually establish a meat base who'd produce more parasites and coordinate a snowball to go after the team. The units would go down easy but get back up after some time unless exploded, burnt, or lasered thoroughly. Not sure it'd be enough gameplay variety from bugs though.

when do strategem flares stick to enemies and when don't they? Is it distance based? Strategem specific? I'd like to consistently use precision orbital strike or weapon drops as a way to deal with armored enemies but i can't tell when the flare is going to bounce or be sticky.

I'd say so. It's very fun even as an autistic sologay who mostly does drop in multi. Some weapons benefit from coordination you probably won't find in pubs, but you can always just take the ammo backpack yourself to reload your big funny gun
The matchmaking is iffy now with some connection errors, but it doesn't take me more than a minute of fumbling through errors to find a match. Monetization is also "generous" wherein you likely won't have to spend any further to see anything as long as you play half often since the premium currency is a common loot find. Deliberate griefing friendly fire is also much rarer than these threads would leave you thinking, and in seventeen hours I've only had one pubbie blast me to test his new support gun before apologizing

Trivial and Easy are basically tutorials, you have frick-all for air strikes and only basic unarmored enemies show up.
Difficulty 4 feels like the real baseline of the game, it's where you'll actually see all the different enemy types and regularly run into patrols
Also laser rover is OP as frick against bugs, GL/Rover/EAT for chargers/Orbital Laser for large hives has been an excellent loadout for me so far

The game servers, which are all listen servers hosted by the PC of the guy who chose the mission, run fine. It's the auth/progress servers that are overloaded with requests because they built a framework for 50k concurrent users and got 300k

The defense missions are going breasts up because they're way overtuned and everyone is failing. Dropships come with the strongest units allowed on your difficulty at a rate of about 1 per 15 seconds per person

Great video. Had something happen with bugs, too, where all of a sudden I was knocked down by a charger after turning by back. I figured it was spawning in out of no where right behind me, and this confirms it.
It has to be yet another bug. This is why it's near impossible to not trigger a patrol when in the first game if you watched your radar and moved purposefully you could avoid patrols.

There's something that I've been dying to figure out if there's even any info on it. So, armor is broken, and all three tiers function the same in terms of TTK. What I really want to know is what the current armor value is based on.
If everything is modeled after medium armor right now, heavy will get buffed, and light will get nerfed once fixed. If it's all based on light, then medium and heavy will get buffed. The worst-case scenario is that everything is functioning like heavy armor right now, and both light and medium will see a nerf. Anyone have any idea on this?
i think that armor is just reduces damage by a negligible amount since like 90% of the times when you die it's gonna be to a one shot of some kind you might as well just use the lightest one
People have tested light versus medium on small enemies and they both kill you in like 6 hits.

I don't have any friends to play with and I'm having fun. Gunplay is chewy and the enemies get their bits shot off in satisfying ways. The core of shooting guys is solid and fun, the maps feel more varied than starfield planets, and it rewards and encourages you to use all your firepower all the time. No pussy footing saving shit, just unload it all and unload it often. You'll get matched with morons sure, but just finish the mission and find a new party, you'll be fine. If they're not morons, stay in as long as you can
I mean I still don't see how that's better than World War Z. Is it just the gunplay is it amazing or something
It has more open world missions. World War Z is just a left 4 dead like. You're not calling in constant air strikes, artillery strikes, and laying down mine fields, turrets etc. Plus there's the team based weapons. You can tell by the thread that weapon penetration is something important, the enemy variety is good with both factions, and there's going to be two more in time
It's worth emphasizing how good the gunplay feels and how well enemies react to shots with individual pieces flying off, armor getting ripped off, limbs flying, etc.
How do I get this fricking game to stop crashing as soon as my guy gets out of the pod?

Pro tip: Stop wasting bullets on butchers, melee them back.
I've seen people beat it by starting far from the base and having one guy run to it and extract the civilians while the other three kite around the map so 3/4 of the spawns don't show up in the middle
People have just turned to ignoring them, speculation is that we are suppose to lose.
I have won it twice, and on one of them people were using the "4 orbital lasers" exploit.
I won ONE so far, all four players know what they're doing, all of us had at least one turret, more than one of us had AT or Recoilless to knock down dropships so at least half of them never even made it to their deployment.
What I don't like about bots so far is that they combine ranged and melee rushers, some of whom either explode or are just armored so they become damage sponges.
Yeah it's hard, but it's hard in a way that the only solution I've found so far is to just hope that your team take enough anti-armor to knock down the dropships and kill all the bots before they even get a chance to attack you.

They're much scarier. I can take cover from lasers and rockets but I can't outrun the bugs forever if I'm caught with my pants down. Send my ass back to the creek.
Light Armor is key to fighting the bugs
Also once you get the laser guard dog backpack Bugs become way way easier to manage
Like armor with the stim perk would be god like for me.
llight armor is a buff already if they make light armor with more nade or stim slots it'll unbalanced. same with heavy armor. i don't think they'll ever do that or if they do it will cost super credits

Bugs you get uses to just dealing with getting rushed and staying out if melee range
Then you go to robots and they're using tactics and hitting you from a distance
With bots you also have a random chance to get blasted by a rocket or the big turrets
I just noticed you can pick up their grenades and throw it back but I'm too nervous to try
Ive heard that heavy armour doesnt do anything right now, but I swear I am a lot more survivable with it, like there has been times where I got plugged multiple times and it was next to no damage when using heavy armour with the extra padding trait, yet a stray bullet will drop you when wearing lighter armour. Is this a confirmed thing?
feels like no one ever uses the EMS mortar despite it being extremely useful for bug breaches/defenses

But EMS mortar doesn’t kill so that isn’t a problem. Just dive.
I like to use it to defend the extraction position. Teammates have a hard time getting themselves blown up because they don't leave the dropship landing pad.
You do realize there are stuff on the map other than the objective right... you know, the specimens that upgrade your ship... medals to unlock more... credits for the social credit points...
Rushing objective and gettnig out as quickly as possible gives more XP, doing all the side stuff gets more upgrade materials. I always do full clears, but I understand why people rush
I do too, but congrats i guess, you are level 30+ and don't have any ship upgrade to make that level worth a damn is all
Do you get medals for leveling up? They could be just rushing to get the stuff they want
they will have a decent amount of medals just by completing more missions, but they don't get samples, which seems to be a pretty important part of making your strategems work to their fullest.
Game won't stop crashing every 2 matches. All the dicussion is rebbit tier metagaming trash instead of fun nonsense. Anticheat is cancer. Easiest refund of my life.
