You'd be surprised how many people think you should be level 20 to fight the bugs since they're overtuned on purpose. Some people think the enemy factions are going to get progressively harder yo fight against for the "challenge", as if fighting the bots is entirely optional and the community just forever losing against them is fine because "lol who cares about the war map"
Start outside the base. One player goes to push the buttons. Others cause a ruckus outside the base, drawing all bots there away from the evacuation. Occasionally you may need to pull back from the base to clear it out, and then go back in.
How the frick are you supposed to do the rescue scientists mission on anything above Hard?
The best way to cheese it is to have 3/4 of the team AWAY from the objective, they should be slowly rotating in a circle around the map to keep the enemies away.
The last guy should be the only one on the objective hidden somewhere so he can complete it. It'll take you 15 minutes tops this way.
this, you basically need to kite with 3 guys around the edge of the map constantly while one guy just rushes the buttons ASAP. I also think that 2-3 guys spamming recoilless/disposable antitank could shoot down most of the dropships if they're positioned correctly and have good aim, but if they fall behind/run out of ammo it'll probably spiral out of control
When people do this the maps go so flawlessly but what really ends up happening is one group of three doing nothing or fighting breaches and one guy finding all the shit then dying with the samples.

Bots are working as intended in other maps. It’s why people think it’s glitched, even on the invasion planets, all other missions are fine. It’s just the event.
The whole conversation chain is about the glitched bot event. If you thought it was overtuned, turns out you’re moronic and it was just glitched on the event mission.
I saw someone mention that the timer in the menu for the extraction says 40 minutes but the time limit in game is only 15, so it seems like the game is spawning 40 minutes worth of bots in a 15 minute match.
i think the bot spawns have something to do with pressing the buttons. if you rush to press all the buttons, it spawns a frick ton of bots. if you press one at a time there seem to be less. I haven't really tested this yet though, just an observation.

I didn't think it was glitched, I think they purposely just overtuned it so the war has some back and forth. I do wonder what would have happened if we liberated the two planets behind them, one is like 70% and Creek is far off. Based on the first major order, they definitely slow/speed the rate at which operations feed into those bars.
Modern Ganker is in fact legendarily bad at video games and if you join any of the upcoming weekend/friday game nights you'll see for yourself. HOWEVER there is a legitimate complaint about the defense missions being overtuned. They are possible if you and your team is good at the game but that's up to chance.

Medals or SC make a lot more sense, also it seems like a lot of people I'm matching with at level 10-15ish still don't know that you're supposed to bring AT to knock down the dropships so we're getting consistently overrun because I'm the only one actually shooting them down.
I'm having a ton of fun fighting bots, I probably prefer fighting bots over bugs tbh. I don't get the hate for defend missions either, me and the boys were consistently clearing Draupnir defend missions on Suicidal.
So the SMG is the best weapon for robots right? For some reason it has more damage and accuracy than the assault rifle. Only like 20 less than the DMR.
You've gotta be fairly fast, it can be missed when you're in the middle of other things but there's a warning before the ship arrives, and its model is visible flying in a long ways away.
As soon as it starts slowing down you should already have seen it, and started tracking where it's going to stop, you only need to hit one of it's engines with the antitank or recoilless (I've not seen it or used it but I think maybe the AT cannon too?) and if you hit it before the bots start dropping they will all instantly die in the ship crash even if they're heavy units.
The arc thrower deals with dropships for real?
I should clarify, the disposable antitank, or recoilless. Bare minimum I'd say two people should have the DAT or Recoilless on bot defense. With good aim two people with DATs should be able to wipe four dropships, and by the time four have arrived the cooldown for reloads should be over too. Throw in orbitals, airstrikes, and the mortar and cannon turrets and I can see bots being cleaned up fairly easily.
My problem so far has been matching with people who don't think about this much and either bring weapons to directly kill individual bots or just bring their bug loadout or whatever without realizing that bots require different tactics.

. Airstrike for anything armored, 500kg for tanks, shield gen is busted, railgun can 1-shot hulks if you headshot. Have every button camped by a person and one dude's flex, always keep 3 of them going. It's actually easy if you don't overthink it and have the gear for it.
You must be playing on challenging or medium. This is such moronic advice. Listen to the anons talking about turrets and recoiless on dropsips, they are the ones onto something.
I can beat them on 7 provided I have a full team. Have 3 guys each pressing their buttons off cooldown while the 4th guy shoots dropships with a recoilless rifle. It WILL get messy but thats why you need to spam the button as much as possible early on. Keep sending civs until the bots run out of bullets.
Where do you shoot the dropships and with what weapon? Can the Autocannon do it? I've found that's the only support weapon so far that has enough bang and enough bullets to be worth using in the defense mission.
Expendable or recoilless rifle. Both can take it out, and both are the best at punching through armor. Autocannon definitely has more flexibility elsewhere, though.
You must be fast as frick. Ive never been able to shoot them down with the recoilless. I havent spent much time with the eat, maybe il pick that next time i play.
I wish guns and explosives did a bit more damage to armored guys. Even medium armor tanks fricking everything.

Who else here is a gas airstrike+flamethrower chad? Fricking locks down bug eruptions and chokepoints like no other, bonus if a mortar turrent is nearby too. My complaint though is there isn't really enough chokepoints on these open world savannah and jungle maps. Hoping theres a map with lots of canyons and gorges to funnel enemies better
Is the gas strike any good for the Bot rescue mission? it's got a low cooldown and can be placed at a bot landing zone, but it doesn't seem to deal that much damage.
also, it seems like turrets other than the mortar are just shit for bots, they just shoot the things.
Gas is good if you're firing at the enemies at the same time, it's not really strong enough to delete enemies on its own. It helps conserve ammo when holding a chokepoint or spawn

Odds of it bricking your computer? Low, however people ARE having issues with game guard some people are BSOD'ing when they try and run it. Which if applications are causing BSOD thats a big fricking red flag.
The bigger issues is, look what happened to genshin impact about 2 years ago with their dicy anti cheat software. Same issue is possible here because of this horrid literally who anti cheat.
I am 30+ hours in and I've only experienced just one (1) app crash, which wasn't Nprotect related, as it gave me a Playstation PC crash report message.
Lineage 1 & 2 have used GameGuard for over a decade and they're some of the biggest MMOs on the Asian market. If GameGuard bricked PCs we'd know about it by now.
What causes some bases and nests to almost overwhelm you with enemies while on some you just fight stuff for maybe half a minute-minute? Still haven't understood that.
Some of the small bugs can spray fart pheromones which summon more bugs, which then can summon more bugs. I think you're supposed to try to kill them all at once to prevent that.
Same with robots except they fire flares.

This game really isn’t a casual solo game is it? I can clear Haz 4 on DRG solo with little issue but I’m getting wrecked on medium
most of the harder enemies are made so they are going for someone else and you shoot them behind. watch out for the bots as well they have no chill, I can do solo bugs dif-5 but bots barely dif-4 with hard RNG
Once you start getting squads who are actually competent and stick together and cover each other, the game gets much easier. I have a more difficult time in missions 6 and under than I do 7-9 for this reason. Most people in the upper difficulties will see someone getting swarmed, save them, and immediately run to the next objective as a team while avoiding patrols. At lower difficulties people just tunnel vision and shoot aimlessly at everything that moves. It should be obvious to people that kills don't matter at all, but hey it is fun to shoot stuff.

Anon just the mission timer alone is evidence of a bug. There is no way it's intended to be this ass rapingly hard unless it's truly just dogshit design philosophy. It's not even about it being hard, it's about the difficulty being utterly incomparable to the difficulty of the other defense missions. Unless you're just jumping into random 1 off games, you have to select a GROUP of missions. I shouldn't be punished having to play a mind numbingly easy mission (or two) just because one of the three missions has an utterly egregious spike in difficulty. If they were singular missions that'd be one thing, but as is you either have to play two missions that are piss easy or one mission that's ass rapingly hard.
Also I don't like the idea that we "need" mechs to win. You never "needed" mechs to win in helldivers 1 and I don't like the idea of going forward the mech being basically mandatory.

I don't like it either, but they have learned nothing from HD1 and the higher difficulties are still spammed full of armor enemies and there simply aren't enough reliable anti armor options. The game is going to devolve into 1 or 2 metas just like the first game did (it already has tbh). It's particularly egregious since many of the anti armor options feel nerfed in this game

I m interested as well. Got 1 friend only playing, unreliable frequency however. On PC, lvl 11, not a shitter; played bots a few times already, haven't won the extraction mission as I only played with randos and we got swarmed, best we did was 20/30 (difficulty 3)
The extraction mission is as simple as splitting up and spamming the 3 buttons. The bots can't shoot you if they are too busy shooting scientists. Remember, you are Super Earth's finest. Scientists can be replaced at the push of a button.
All four are working on the same thing. Splitting up on anything but the lower difficulties will get you killed.

It's ALWAYS been like that ever since the first game. People just want to larp Starship Troopers and mow down piss easy bug enemies forever. I've seen campaigns where we we're sieging the Illuminate homeworld, only for them to not only repel it, but push back all the way to Earth and conquer it, all the while HALF of the playerbase were playing with their dicks in the bug sector, not even close to finishing it because obviously they were only doing low level missions.

The cyborgs are the most fun faction to fight, shit feels like a real warzone. Running up into a stratagem jammer base with just your guns, with bullets and missiles flying everywhere, is pure kino.
To be fair right now, I think a lot of people aren't fighting the bots because shit feels broken. The difficulty is too inconsistent between missions of the same difficulty level for this to be intended. Even the first game's ball crushing defense missions weren't THIS punishing. The bots being able to just destroy the cover buildings is so brutal.
Also I was the guy in HD1 that was always helldiving against illuminates. I understand like their entire kit and gimmick doesn't really translate to 3rd person instead of top down, but I miss blasting those cameras with my punisher or annihilating tripods with my obliterator

I use a Creative Sound Blaster card and Beyerdynamic headphones. I always know when enemies are nearby and their general direction. It actually helps a lot. While my friends aren’t bad at the game and often get more kills than I do, it’s typically up to me to survive because they get jumped so easily.

Anon the fact is that the scientist rescue mission should be roughly the same difficulty as the other two missions its grouped with, not wildly more difficult thus making me have to endure two piss easy missions just to survive that one. We already reached the point in all co-op games where it's easier at higher difficulties. I was looking for a chill difficulty 6 game and it threw me in with a level 25 that couldn't dodge chargers and would keep shooting their ass after I degolved them. Also watched him run INTO a heavy nest to try and point blank bug holes with his autocannon and die to like 5 basic warriors so that was funny.

Penetrator Liberator is honestly not that great. It does so little damage and the medium pen only works on a couple of enemies. Also you can only do burst or semi auto with it. The semi auto rifle you unlock earlier hits harder. Hell even the normal Liberator you start with is better.

What should my 3rd strategem be outside of the 500kg bomb and the orbital railgun? I always pick the portable shield for bots and the guard dog laser for bugs. Should i grab a sentry or another orbital?I figure with the three ship buffs to sentries the machine gun turret could be good as long as a charger doesn't run it down (which is what the railgun is for anyway)
Orbital laser is top tier against bots at least, it can clear entire medium and sometimes heavy outposts in one go; it's also pretty good as last resort if you get swarmed. I've also killed bile titans with it if you like bugs missions more

Man it was a fricking pain in the ass having to recover my old PSN account just to play the game on PC, especially with Sony's shit servers that take 20 minutes and 5 attempts just to get a single password reset email. After playing one mission though I can tell it was worth the hassle.
Any vets of HD1 not really vibing with HD2? It was fun because it was new, but I honestly much prefer HD1. The top down view and fixed camera made cooperating and mayhem much better imo. In HD2 everybody pretty much does their thing. And the lack of content compared to HD1 makes it very repetitive and boring very quickly too to me.
You’re just not playing hard enough missions. Good squads play close and coordinated. I have 300 hours in HD1 and almost 100 in HD2 and I feel like they play surprisingly similarly at high difficulties.

Actually the punisher and breaker have the same range, and the breaker has 16 rounds with 5 mags, so 80 rounds, which is twice as much as the punisher, the punisher has a measly 30 more damage, 80 more recoil, and 220 less firerate.
Even if you're reloading with half a mag left every time with the breaker, you'd still have just as much ammo as you would with the punisher.
You still one shot basic enemies, and the punisher doesn't really do enough extra damage for the lower firerate trade off. The absolute only reason to use the punisher is if you simply like pump shotties (which is fine, I like to use the slugger occasionally.) or if you just can't stand leaving your magazine half empty and NEED to reload. But trying to say that the punisher has anything over the breaker besides the non-magazine reload (which can actually become an issue in scenarios where you're trying to quickly reload while running from a horde.) is just not true.
I play 6-9 diff and I can reload a ton without running out of ammo because of all the ammo drops in POIs, plus the punisher just feels way too slow at clearing trash for when I've got said trash jumping on top of me.
If I had it my way, I'd buff the other weapons to the level of the breaker (Especially the diligence), but as of right now, unless I want some variety, the breaker feels simply too good to not use.
I dont get the appeal, I feel like it eats the ammo I would rather than for my stratagem weapon. being able to kill unarmoured enemies is quickly is not great, infact, I would argue the marksman rifle and the pump do it better, one because it can hit weak points on armoured enemies much better, and the other becuase it reloads per shot, meaning you can fire on trash enemies without having to worry about mag swaps or if you are wasting ammo.
The penetrator is the only weapon I would say is useless right now, but all need some rebalancing.

Retreating is a good thing, especially if it means funneling your enemies into a choke point. The thing that will get you killed the most is being surrounded.
Heading off to your next objective is better than standing and fighting. You'll be able to thin any herd chasing you as you move, and again they're not all coming from one direction, which makes them a lot easier to shoot and drop stratagems on.

Start outside the base. One player goes to push the buttons. Others cause a ruckus outside the base, drawing all bots there away from the evacuation. Occasionally you may need to pull back from the base to clear it out, and then go back in.

The best way to cheese it is to have 3/4 of the team AWAY from the objective, they should be slowly rotating in a circle around the map to keep the enemies away.
The last guy should be the only one on the objective hidden somewhere so he can complete it. It'll take you 15 minutes tops this way.
this, you basically need to kite with 3 guys around the edge of the map constantly while one guy just rushes the buttons ASAP. I also think that 2-3 guys spamming recoilless/disposable antitank could shoot down most of the dropships if they're positioned correctly and have good aim, but if they fall behind/run out of ammo it'll probably spiral out of control

I saw someone mention that the timer in the menu for the extraction says 40 minutes but the time limit in game is only 15, so it seems like the game is spawning 40 minutes worth of bots in a 15 minute match.
It does say 40 minutes on the mission description. That would be a good theory. 40 mins worth of bots15 could explain it.
i think the bot spawns have something to do with pressing the buttons. if you rush to press all the buttons, it spawns a frick ton of bots. if you press one at a time there seem to be less. I haven't really tested this yet though, just an observation.

I do wonder what would have happened if we liberated the two planets behind them, one is like 70% and Creek is far off. Based on the first major order, they definitely slow/speed the rate at which operations feed into those bars.

Modern Ganker is in fact legendarily bad at video games and if you join any of the upcoming weekend/friday game nights you'll see for yourself. HOWEVER there is a legitimate complaint about the defense missions being overtuned. They are possible if you and your team is good at the game but that's up to chance.

You've gotta be fairly fast, it can be missed when you're in the middle of other things but there's a warning before the ship arrives, and its model is visible flying in a long ways away.
As soon as it starts slowing down you should already have seen it, and started tracking where it's going to stop, you only need to hit one of it's engines with the antitank or recoilless (I've not seen it or used it but I think maybe the AT cannon too?) and if you hit it before the bots start dropping they will all instantly die in the ship crash even if they're heavy units.
I should clarify, the disposable antitank, or recoilless. Bare minimum I'd say two people should have the DAT or Recoilless on bot defense. With good aim two people with DATs should be able to wipe four dropships, and by the time four have arrived the cooldown for reloads should be over too. Throw in orbitals, airstrikes, and the mortar and cannon turrets and I can see bots being cleaned up fairly easily.
My problem so far has been matching with people who don't think about this much and either bring weapons to directly kill individual bots or just bring their bug loadout or whatever without realizing that bots require different tactics.

. Airstrike for anything armored, 500kg for tanks, shield gen is busted, railgun can 1-shot hulks if you headshot. Have every button camped by a person and one dude's flex, always keep 3 of them going. It's actually easy if you don't overthink it and have the gear for it.

I can beat them on 7 provided I have a full team. Have 3 guys each pressing their buttons off cooldown while the 4th guy shoots dropships with a recoilless rifle. It WILL get messy but thats why you need to spam the button as much as possible early on. Keep sending civs until the bots run out of bullets.

Where do you shoot the dropships and with what weapon? Can the Autocannon do it? I've found that's the only support weapon so far that has enough bang and enough bullets to be worth using in the defense mission.

you shoot the hover jets/engines on the dropship with any anti tank launcher weapon
Expendable or recoilless rifle. Both can take it out, and both are the best at punching through armor. Autocannon definitely has more flexibility elsewhere, though.

Who else here is a gas airstrike+flamethrower chad? Fricking locks down bug eruptions and chokepoints like no other, bonus if a mortar turrent is nearby too. My complaint though is there isn't really enough chokepoints on these open world savannah and jungle maps. Hoping theres a map with lots of canyons and gorges to funnel enemies better
Is the gas strike any good for the Bot rescue mission? it's got a low cooldown and can be placed at a bot landing zone, but it doesn't seem to deal that much damage.
also, it seems like turrets other than the mortar are just shit for bots, they just shoot the things.
Gas is good if you're firing at the enemies at the same time, it's not really strong enough to delete enemies on its own. It helps conserve ammo when holding a chokepoint or spawn

I am 30+ hours in and I've only experienced just one (1) app crash, which wasn't Nprotect related, as it gave me a Playstation PC crash report message.

This game really isn’t a casual solo game is it? I can clear Haz 4 on DRG solo with little issue but I’m getting wrecked on medium
most of the harder enemies are made so they are going for someone else and you shoot them behind. watch out for the bots as well they have no chill, I can do solo bugs dif-5 but bots barely dif-4 with hard RNG
Once you start getting squads who are actually competent and stick together and cover each other, the game gets much easier. I have a more difficult time in missions 6 and under than I do 7-9 for this reason. Most people in the upper difficulties will see someone getting swarmed, save them, and immediately run to the next objective as a team while avoiding patrols. At lower difficulties people just tunnel vision and shoot aimlessly at everything that moves. It should be obvious to people that kills don't matter at all, but hey it is fun to shoot stuff.

Unless you're just jumping into random 1 off games, you have to select a GROUP of missions. I shouldn't be punished having to play a mind numbingly easy mission (or two) just because one of the three missions has an utterly egregious spike in difficulty. If they were singular missions that'd be one thing, but as is you either have to play two missions that are piss easy or one mission that's ass rapingly hard.

I don't like it either, but they have learned nothing from HD1 and the higher difficulties are still spammed full of armor enemies and there simply aren't enough reliable anti armor options. The game is going to devolve into 1 or 2 metas just like the first game did (it already has tbh). It's particularly egregious since many of the anti armor options feel nerfed in this game

I m interested as well. Got 1 friend only playing, unreliable frequency however. On PC, lvl 11, not a shitter; played bots a few times already, haven't won the extraction mission as I only played with randos and we got swarmed, best we did was 20/30 (difficulty 3)
The extraction mission is as simple as splitting up and spamming the 3 buttons. The bots can't shoot you if they are too busy shooting scientists. Remember, you are Super Earth's finest. Scientists can be replaced at the push of a button.

So probably the best thing DRG does that separates it from every other horde shooter is that each person has a "job" and a distinct identity.

You communicate with your team on who is bringing what. That's sort of a "job" but there's no hard classes.

All four are working on the same thing. Splitting up on anything but the lower difficulties will get you killed.
There are crew fired weapons as well as events like the radar station where one player is at a computer terminal and has to tell another what way to turn the dish.
Any player can run off and do objectives themselves. Splitting up for clearing smaller bug nests/bot factories is a valuable time saver for example.

Currently no. If it follows the path of the first game, they'll add quite a bit of stuff post launch.
The endgame would be winning the wars, every battle makes a bit of progress to liberate various worlds, but every defeat makes the enemy gain progress. So people getting slaughtered in space vietnam actually makes it harder to conquer
Not yet. At the climax of every war though there are extra hard/long missions on the enemy home planets
Different armors give different perks but that's about. On the flipside, you're limited in what stratagems and gear you can bring along so having someone bring down dedicated backpacks/support weapons is a good plan.

It's ALWAYS been like that ever since the first game. People just want to larp Starship Troopers and mow down piss easy bug enemies forever. I've seen campaigns where we we're sieging the Illuminate homeworld, only for them to not only repel it, but push back all the way to Earth and conquer it, all the while HALF of the playerbase were playing with their dicks in the bug sector, not even close to finishing it because obviously they were only doing low level missions.
I get it. I get the appeal of playing a mindless wave shooter with le alien bugs. But it's tiresome when that game also depends on community effort.

Yeah in the first game everyone just fought bugs whereas the level 35+ people only ran difficulty 15 cyborgs over and over. Idk why it’s the same with this one, I’ve see posts on here where people say they have 40+ hours in the game and haven’t even seen borgs yet.
The cyborgs are the most fun faction to fight, shit feels like a real warzone. Running up into a stratagem jammer base with just your guns, with bullets and missiles flying everywhere, is pure kino.
To be fair right now, I think a lot of people aren't fighting the bots because shit feels broken. The difficulty is too inconsistent between missions of the same difficulty level for this to be intended. Even the first game's ball crushing defense missions weren't THIS punishing. The bots being able to just destroy the cover buildings is so brutal.
Also I was the guy in HD1 that was always helldiving against illuminates. I understand like their entire kit and gimmick doesn't really translate to 3rd person instead of top down, but I miss blasting those cameras with my punisher or annihilating tripods with my obliterator

I use a Creative Sound Blaster card and Beyerdynamic headphones. I always know when enemies are nearby and their general direction. It actually helps a lot. While my friends aren’t bad at the game and often get more kills than I do, it’s typically up to me to survive because they get jumped so easily.

Anon the fact is that the scientist rescue mission should be roughly the same difficulty as the other two missions its grouped with, not wildly more difficult thus making me have to endure two piss easy missions just to survive that one. It's bugged. Just because you did it with a cheese strat and by letting 80% of the civs you let out die doesn't mean that's how it's suppose to be going down.

We already reached the point in all co-op games where it's easier at higher difficulties. I was looking for a chill difficulty 6 game and it threw me in with a level 25 that couldn't dodge chargers and would keep shooting their ass after I degolved them. Also watched him run INTO a heavy nest to try and point blank bug holes with his autocannon and die to like 5 basic warriors so that was funny.
Never mind, joined a diff7 and the host kicked me presumably for being only level 18.

Penetrator Liberator is honestly not that great. It does so little damage and the medium pen only works on a couple of enemies. Also you can only do burst or semi auto with it. The semi auto rifle you unlock earlier hits harder. Hell even the normal Liberator you start with is better.
is shooting down the dropships supposed to be a 50/50 on whether or not the bots onboard get nuked? because i cant consistently kill them when shooting down the dropship. sometimes they just appear on the ground unharmed.

well see it seems to be random because ive shot down dropships when the bots are halfway on the ground and they still get killed but sometimes when i shoot it down while theyre still attached nothing happens to them
That's because if the dropship smashes into them when they're on the ground, it might kill some. It's different from the instagib.

not accurate. Sometimes the explosion kills half. Sometimes they do actually survive but get stuck on the downed dropship and don't attack, rendering them effectively dead. Always shoot the dropships when you are able, even if they dropped their payload.

What should my 3rd strategem be outside of the 500kg bomb and the orbital railgun? I always pick the portable shield for bots and the guard dog laser for bugs. Should i grab a sentry or another orbital?I figure with the three ship buffs to sentries the machine gun turret could be good as long as a charger doesn't run it down (which is what the railgun is for anyway)
Orbital laser is top tier against bots at least, it can clear entire medium and sometimes heavy outposts in one go; it's also pretty good as last resort if you get swarmed. I've also killed bile titans with it if you like bugs missions more

Man it was a fricking pain in the ass having to recover my old PSN account just to play the game on PC, especially with Sony's shit servers that take 20 minutes and 5 attempts just to get a single password reset email. After playing one mission though I can tell it was worth the hassle.
Any vets of HD1 not really vibing with HD2? It was fun because it was new, but I honestly much prefer HD1. The top down view and fixed camera made cooperating and mayhem much better imo. In HD2 everybody pretty much does their thing. And the lack of content compared to HD1 makes it very repetitive and boring very quickly too to me.
You’re just not playing hard enough missions. Good squads play close and coordinated. I have 300 hours in HD1 and almost 100 in HD2 and I feel like they play surprisingly similarly at high difficulties.

The only bad weapon is the penetrator.
Actually the punisher and breaker have the same range, and the breaker has 16 rounds with 5 mags, so 80 rounds, which is twice as much as the punisher, the punisher has a measly 30 more damage, 80 more recoil, and 220 less firerate.
Even if you're reloading with half a mag left every time with the breaker, you'd still have just as much ammo as you would with the punisher.
You still one shot basic enemies, and the punisher doesn't really do enough extra damage for the lower firerate trade off. The absolute only reason to use the punisher is if you simply like pump shotties (which is fine, I like to use the slugger occasionally.) or if you just can't stand leaving your magazine half empty and NEED to reload. But trying to say that the punisher has anything over the breaker besides the non-magazine reload (which can actually become an issue in scenarios where you're trying to quickly reload while running from a horde.) is just not true.
I play 6-9 diff and I can reload a ton without running out of ammo because of all the ammo drops in POIs, plus the punisher just feels way too slow at clearing trash for when I've got said trash jumping on top of me.
If I had it my way, I'd buff the other weapons to the level of the breaker (Especially the diligence), but as of right now, unless I want some variety, the breaker feels simply too good to not use.
I dont get the appeal, I feel like it eats the ammo I would rather than for my stratagem weapon. being able to kill unarmoured enemies is quickly is not great, infact, I would argue the marksman rifle and the pump do it better, one because it can hit weak points on armoured enemies much better, and the other becuase it reloads per shot, meaning you can fire on trash enemies without having to worry about mag swaps or if you are wasting ammo.
The penetrator is the only weapon I would say is useless right now, but all need some rebalancing.

Im killing them with one tank per, the reason this is good is because regular ammo pickups replenish it.
They ignore the stagger but the damage goes straight through any armour.
It doesn't matter that you can recoup ammunition easily if you have to spend like ten seconds spewing fire at a charger to maybe kill it when you could just railgun it to death near instantly.
The main selling point of fire should be damage over time, and that is the weakest part of incendiary weapons at the moment.

You use flamers to hold chokes. The fires will burn many bugs simultaneously. Which compensates for longer time to kill.
grenades/airstrikes serve the same purpose with the added benefit of actually killing them
Airstrikes will lose you the choke 90% of the time as half your team gets wiped
and flamers will lose the game 100% of the time above difficulty 4

Yeah honestly I've tried it once and decided that the MG is much better for clearing trashmobs.
Much less chance of killing your teammates (since while mobs can take ten seconds to die from it, it'll nearly instakill your teammates or yourself if you get ignited and don't instantaneously stim)

If the flamer has to pressurize for a second before it fires, and it's going to do massive damage to your teammates, it should at least also do massive damage to unarmored enemies (so great for bugs, shit against bots) and it should fire in a long flat arc.
Real flamethrowers could send their fuel spraying as far as 100m, these should at least do half that distance.

Retreating is a good thing, especially if it means funneling your enemies into a choke point. The thing that will get you killed the most is being surrounded.
Heading off to your next objective is better than standing and fighting. You'll be able to thin any herd chasing you as you move, and again they're not all coming from one direction, which makes them a lot easier to shoot and drop stratagems on.
