It's like how back in the day there were several towns sprinkled along the Transcontinental Railroad and others criss-crossing from the east to the west coast, to service trains and stuff. But instead of also being an actual town with residences and services for farms and whatever else nearby we just skip all that entirely and keep the rest stops.
In a way, maybe stopping at one of these places is a final vestige of the old frontier spirit!

The reason why our cars have gotten so big is because of EPA regulations on emissions have gotten so strict on sedans that all of the largest manufactures have killed most of their less fuel efficient and dirtier sedans in favor of the even less fuel efficient and dirtier SUVs and pickup trucks because they have less strict regulations.

That's why I stopped renting. Is the pathing for the ai on the escort missions fricked for anyone else? A friend and I tried playing a mission a few times and the people keep running into a rock that's right next to the door they're supposed to enter. We just end up executing them and then killing all the robots.

How are you guys crashing? I haven't crashed once in my 8 hours (1 hr actual gameplay) but these threads make it seem like it's the most broken shit ever cheapass servers aside.
Known issue with specific graphics cards. Sucks because I get about 120 FPS pretty consistently but have crashed to the desktop like four times in the two and a half hours I have managed to play so far. Turning off reflections or whatever helped but didn’t fully solve it.

No. You can skip it when it asks. You can still use crossplay without it as well. Linking a PSN account is only for having the game on both PC and console, and you want to switch between the two while keeping your progress.

I issued a refund ticket just now. The game literally doesn't work for me. It keeps shutting off my PC, and it's done so about 5 times in a 2 hour playtime. None of the other games I own do this.

It's a long global campaign. Basically certain planets under attack by robots have a timer and a blue + red bar and every time we successfully win one of those planets that mission progress will increase by 1.

Anything besides the Autocannon and the Railgun isnt worth slotting in
being severely underperforming in the current no individual weapon upgrades status quo which sees them missing a lot of damage and ease of heat management as a result, and unfortunately niche deprived in a world in which medium sized enemies can also do the job of scouts in a patrol so you can't preempt alerts the same way as in Helldivers

yeah i feel that, i just use it to destroy buildings mostly since the railgun takes care of most armored targets. plus im running medic armor, if i switch back to servo armor for the throw distance i would probably use cluster the most. in general my ordinance is there to kill bile titans, tanks, chargers, cannons and buildings. i can take out hulks and other armored stuff with my railgun. at least up to difficulty 6 (7 wont unlock thx devs)
cluster bomb and 500kg are for two completely different roles and aren't comparable. cluster wipes out hordes of light armour while 500kg is for pinpoint destruction of a single structure of heavy armour enemy.
does the walking barrage actually have intelligent targeting like the laser? i like it since i can throw it into a robot camp and it'll clean the entire camp up.
Nah, the tradeoff is that it covers a much larger area. Drop it in the right spot and it can clear a large nest.
Plus if you're being chased you can throw it at your feet and it'll follow behind you deleting the horde (just make sure you don't accidentally graduate from the Prometheus school of running away from things.)
the lasers movement speed with the tracking hunts down all sorts of enemies and will home onto buildings in the robot camps so it'll clear heavy bases easily unless there's a shitload of cannons and tanks. ill try out the walking barrage in addition to it i guess.
jetpack, machine gun, orbital laser or cluster, some kind of turret. i kind of wish backpacks and support weapons had their own slot. 4 doesn't feel like enough.
It's a South Korean one that has a decade of bad rep. I'm talking about it monitoring your PC on startup to requiring you to fricking edit your registry to fully remove it. i can solo bugs up to difficulty 7, meaning i can unlock everything without having to see another player, and with new battlepasses it'll probably get even easier
There's matchmaking and the game's difficulty scales by throwing more enemies at you combined with enemies that have heavy armor. Your basic guns do no damage against enemies with heavy armor. So when there's hundreds of enemies swarming at you, there's only so much you can do solo.
Whereas if you play with randoms in a full squad, it's fun as hell.
What difficulty? because the higher up you go the more enemy variety it spawns in the game. Where suddenly literal bio titans become as plentiful as medium armor enemies. It becomes an entirely different game on Helldive mode
Railgun lets you survive without a friend easier, getting 2 recoiless shots off to kill a charger is much harder. 2 shots on front leg with Railgun, blast with Breaker.
I don't know how much extra damage fully charging the railgun does
ive been messing around with the strategems but i havent really found one i really like. ive been using jetpack and antimat rifle but im waiting to swap to railgun when i get it. what has everyone been using?
strafing run is slept on vs bots. has the potential to get 20x+ kills per use if you know what you're doing. not worth the slot vs bugs but if you don't understand the difference in loadouts between the two at this point then you're ngmi.
my default bug loadout is eagle bombing run/cluster/ORC/shoulder-mounted autocannon. bombing run lets me soften a nest with a chance of outright killing it, with the upgrade I get three shots at that. cluster bomb is a great wave/patrol clear, slaughters everything below a bile nurse, which can be oneshot by a direct hit from an impact grenade btw. ORC onehsots chargers outright, armor strips one half of a titan. oneshots basically any bot until as well. with the upgrades it's on a 3m cd, very very useful get out of jail free card. autocannon can close bug holes, same as the grenade launcher with similar effective angle but with way more ammunition and a fast reload as long as you hit it halfway through. twoshots bile sewers spewers if you connect with the sac, threeshot anywhere else otherwise.

also you can oneshot 2/3+ walkers with a single impact grenade. if you haven't cleared a full helldive bot mission solo then stop fricking (You)ing me.

It’s just bugged, they’ve said they’re fixing it. My theory is that all armor is currently treated as 100 armor, and that once the system is fixed all these guys running around in light are gonna find themselves dying a lot more often.
i hope your theory is wrong. i really hope that our armor works the same as enemy armor and that attacks below a certain caliber/strength get straight up deflected the same they do on enemies. that would be fricking awesome.
Doubtful seeing as at highest difficulty you just run from point to point finishing objectives as fast as possible because the waves become overwhelming, with the exception of defense maps theres no real advantage to being slower and having more stamina
Against the bugs sure, mobility is king, but if the lasers from the bots end up hurting even more light armor is gonna start looking a lot less attractive

you can three shot a bile titan down the throat with unsafe railgun if you time it when he rears up to spew his puke, as long as you aim it perfectly at 90% charge. ORC into eagle CB is very consistent and will clear adds as well. eagle cb is an incredibly useful trash clear in general, and with 5 uses in an upgraded destroyer it's basically a no brainer for literally any bug mission.
It was a solo helldive so any reqs, SCs and medals you can find from exploring are kinda off the table here. A good team that can do the secondaries and explore a little will rake in much more.
I know. However one time a patrol I was stealthing was on the extraction and during the last ten seconds the game had them aggro me, like 8 berserkers, 2 hulks, 4 rocket devastators.
Until the game pulled the rug, it was pretty funny watching them run around looking for me. I think the enemies get 'mad' because sometimes they just shoot randomly and yell out insults.

The shield drop stratagem is so fricking good on bot missions. I don't see people bringing it much but it's extremely useful when your squad is getting overwhelmed. It also has a quick CD so you can call it pretty consistently.
I am enjoying the game. I am at level 10 and taking on level 6 challenges. However, it really is starting to feel samey. I think this game desperately needs the mechs and vehicles soon.
Yeah I doubt they'll drop them THAT soon for the first wave of players to not drop off. Would be sick to keep momentum going but I'll likely take a break and come back later.
Cluster and airstrike are my favorites. Cluster for clearing swarms, airstrike for armored enemies. I want to replace airstrike with rockets, but the rockets do not actually seem to do much.
there's zero drop to the railgun. there is a little bit of sway introduced at every level of aiming, reduced to the maximum while prone. the armor bonus that gives you increased stability while crouching seems to help with your first shot stability even though it says it affects recoil, though i haven't done testing on this.
If I wanted to farm purple samples, is bots or bugs easier? It feels like bots are missing their bile titan tier annoying shit, and chargers are infinitely more annoying than hulks.
bugs are a lot easier to kite at higher difficulties. 90% of my supers have been from suicide missions on the moon planet, really easy to spot the buttplug rock there and bug patrols/guards at PoI are a lot more manageable than bots ime.
did a level 7 with randies earlier, not too awful, but you'll need to actually be good/play with good gamers AND get good tank RNG for level 9 and 3 doors
all four people need to bring mortar, and least two need to bring smoke and keep that smoke up in the middle of the zone. bots are defeated by cc, the moment you frick with their vision or movement even a little they clump up and shut down. you don't fight bots like bugs, you have to gun them down before they find a foothold. bugs can be winnowed, bots only get stronger when they can coordinate.

Known issue with specific graphics cards. Sucks because I get about 120 FPS pretty consistently but have crashed to the desktop like four times in the two and a half hours I have managed to play so far. Turning off reflections or whatever helped but didn’t fully solve it.
If you're on amd 7000, just turn the graphics down. The lower the less crashes

The community as a whole needs to complete 8 of the planet defense missions.
It's a long global campaign. Basically certain planets under attack by robots have a timer and a blue + red bar and every time we successfully win one of those planets that mission progress will increase by 1.

I've been going Eagle Cluster over 500kg. More consistant both bugs and bots. 500kg is pretty damn tiny.
yeah i feel that, i just use it to destroy buildings mostly since the railgun takes care of most armored targets. plus im running medic armor, if i switch back to servo armor for the throw distance i would probably use cluster the most. in general my ordinance is there to kill bile titans, tanks, chargers, cannons and buildings. i can take out hulks and other armored stuff with my railgun. at least up to difficulty 6 (7 wont unlock thx devs)
cluster bomb and 500kg are for two completely different roles and aren't comparable. cluster wipes out hordes of light armour while 500kg is for pinpoint destruction of a single structure of heavy armour enemy.
I take the walking barrage over the laser, and I usually take the mortar turret now that I have the extra 50% ammo for it
does the walking barrage actually have intelligent targeting like the laser? i like it since i can throw it into a robot camp and it'll clean the entire camp up.
Nah, the tradeoff is that it covers a much larger area. Drop it in the right spot and it can clear a large nest.
Plus if you're being chased you can throw it at your feet and it'll follow behind you deleting the horde (just make sure you don't accidentally graduate from the Prometheus school of running away from things.)
the lasers movement speed with the tracking hunts down all sorts of enemies and will home onto buildings in the robot camps so it'll clear heavy bases easily unless there's a shitload of cannons and tanks. ill try out the walking barrage in addition to it i guess.

It's a South Korean one that has a decade of bad rep. I'm talking about it monitoring your PC on startup to requiring you to fricking edit your registry to fully remove it. As soon as you find out they are on the map, drop everything to take out their nest

Look from which direction they're coming from and the nest shouldn't be far.
It's in the direction they come from/retreat to.
It doesn't actually do that much damage, it's just that it keeps shooting while you're doing other shit.
Their weak point is their face.
Laser. Gun is dogshit, laser is crazy strong and basically never overheats.
The personal shield is much stronger vs bots once you unlock it though.

Playing with randoms is almost, if not just as, fun as playing with friends.

It's a crapshoot until you get to difficulty 7, by then almost all of the shitters have been filtered.
It's borderline impossible solo beyond the absolute easiest difficulties, there are just too many enemies since everything is scaled to four players
i can solo bugs up to difficulty 7, meaning i can unlock everything without having to see another player, and with new battlepasses it'll probably get even easier
There's matchmaking and the game's difficulty scales by throwing more enemies at you combined with enemies that have heavy armor. Your basic guns do no damage against enemies with heavy armor. So when there's hundreds of enemies swarming at you, there's only so much you can do solo.
Whereas if you play with randoms in a full squad, it's fun as hell.
i've had no problems with randoms playing on highest difficulty
you can play it solo don't listen to the other anons. when you get to the higher difficulties you can only stealth half of it

What difficulty? because the higher up you go the more enemy variety it spawns in the game. Where suddenly literal bio titans become as plentiful as medium armor enemies. It becomes an entirely different game on Helldive mode

Railgun lets you survive without a friend easier, getting 2 recoiless shots off to kill a charger is much harder. 2 shots on front leg with Railgun, blast with Breaker.
I don't know how much extra damage fully charging the railgun does

strafing run is slept on vs bots. has the potential to get 20x+ kills per use if you know what you're doing. not worth the slot vs bugs but if you don't understand the difference in loadouts between the two at this point then you're ngmi.
Damn. I was doing the opposite since it seems like chaff clearing is more useful vs bugs while strafing run can't really damage armored bots.
my default bug loadout is eagle bombing run/cluster/ORC/shoulder-mounted autocannon. bombing run lets me soften a nest with a chance of outright killing it, with the upgrade I get three shots at that. cluster bomb is a great wave/patrol clear, slaughters everything below a bile nurse, which can be oneshot by a direct hit from an impact grenade btw. ORC onehsots chargers outright, armor strips one half of a titan. oneshots basically any bot until as well. with the upgrades it's on a 3m cd, very very useful get out of jail free card. autocannon can close bug holes, same as the grenade launcher with similar effective angle but with way more ammunition and a fast reload as long as you hit it halfway through. twoshots bile sewers spewers if you connect with the sac, threeshot anywhere else otherwise.

strafing run kills walkers straight up, save your railgun for tanks/towers/hulks. actually you should be using the 110mm rockets for bots, but if you didn't know that then you should probably shut your fricking mouth and not speak to me, maybe log another 40 hours to catch up.

i always run railgun vs bots,it's essential for clearing the shield homies and for twoshotting hulks. never said don't bring railgun. why would you put words in my mouth and assume ugly things about me? 110mm rockets will oneshot tanks, towers and most fabricators. level 44 and i'm 4 super samples short of being fully upgraded, been at the 50k requisition cap since tuesday.
we're talking about you claiming strafing run is good for bots especially walkers, how often do you get spawns of walkers that line up in single file for you to get any value out of strafe?, the second they're seperated by more than 3m the skill is useless as frick
Never said especially walkers, though it is good for taking them out. have you actually used the strafing run? it has an impressive spread at the startup, and can be thrown right at your feet since it starts right on the beacon and walks up form there. with a 0-second start up time it's a great frick off option for when your thoroughly underwhelming guns fail to fend of the waves of lightly armored mooks. I don't bring it often for bots, I much prefer keeping the airstirike available for taking out fabs. but why pretend the gunrun isn't useful and trick newer players?
also you can oneshot 2/3+ walkers with a single impact grenade. if you haven't cleared a full helldive bot mission solo then stop fricking (You)ing me.
gatling is also the the single hardest aoe denial in the game besides mortar which has its obvious. drawbacks.

It’s just bugged, they’ve said they’re fixing it. My theory is that all armor is currently treated as 100 armor, and that once the system is fixed all these guys running around in light are gonna find themselves dying a lot more often.
i hope your theory is wrong. i really hope that our armor works the same as enemy armor and that attacks below a certain caliber/strength get straight up deflected the same they do on enemies. that would be fricking awesome.
Doubtful seeing as at highest difficulty you just run from point to point finishing objectives as fast as possible because the waves become overwhelming, with the exception of defense maps theres no real advantage to being slower and having more stamina
Against the bugs sure, mobility is king, but if the lasers from the bots end up hurting even more light armor is gonna start looking a lot less attractive

railcannon + 2 railgun shots to the mouth will kill it and the railgun gives you a constant way to delete chargers also
you can three shot a bile titan down the throat with unsafe railgun if you time it when he rears up to spew his puke, as long as you aim it perfectly at 90% charge. ORC into eagle CB is very consistent and will clear adds as well. eagle cb is an incredibly useful trash clear in general, and with 5 uses in an upgraded destroyer it's basically a no brainer for literally any bug mission.

It was a solo helldive so any reqs, SCs and medals you can find from exploring are kinda off the table here. A good team that can do the secondaries and explore a little will rake in much more.
you dont do solo for the farm, at least not on diff 9, a good group on diff 7 that map clears will be faster and get all the dosh
I know. However one time a patrol I was stealthing was on the extraction and during the last ten seconds the game had them aggro me, like 8 berserkers, 2 hulks, 4 rocket devastators.
Until the game pulled the rug, it was pretty funny watching them run around looking for me. I think the enemies get 'mad' because sometimes they just shoot randomly and yell out insults.

The shield drop stratagem is so fricking good on bot missions. I don't see people bringing it much but it's extremely useful when your squad is getting overwhelmed. It also has a quick CD so you can call it pretty consistently.
I am enjoying the game. I am at level 10 and taking on level 6 challenges. However, it really is starting to feel samey. I think this game desperately needs the mechs and vehicles soon.
Yeah I doubt they'll drop them THAT soon for the first wave of players to not drop off. Would be sick to keep momentum going but I'll likely take a break and come back later.

Cluster and airstrike are my favorites. Cluster for clearing swarms, airstrike for armored enemies. I want to replace airstrike with rockets, but the rockets do not actually seem to do much.
Rockets seem to auto aim like the ORC but don't do a ton of damage

Why is the railgun not pin point accurate? Even in ADS if I aim at a Hulk's eyes it will still not hit it half the time.

there's zero drop to the railgun. there is a little bit of sway introduced at every level of aiming, reduced to the maximum while prone. the armor bonus that gives you increased stability while crouching seems to help with your first shot stability even though it says it affects recoil, though i haven't done testing on this.
First person doesn't show your character's sway the way 3rd can.

If I wanted to farm purple samples, is bots or bugs easier? It feels like bots are missing their bile titan tier annoying shit, and chargers are infinitely more annoying than hulks.
bugs are a lot easier to kite at higher difficulties. 90% of my supers have been from suicide missions on the moon planet, really easy to spot the buttplug rock there and bug patrols/guards at PoI are a lot more manageable than bots ime.
They need to tone down escort scientists mission, the bot wave is too much.

did a level 7 with randies earlier, not too awful, but you'll need to actually be good/play with good gamers AND get good tank RNG for level 9
and 3 doors
all four people need to bring mortar, and least two need to bring smoke and keep that smoke up in the middle of the zone. bots are defeated by cc, the moment you frick with their vision or movement even a little they clump up and shut down. you don't fight bots like bugs, you have to gun them down before they find a foothold. bugs can be winnowed, bots only get stronger when they can coordinate.
