Anyone remember those old green text threads from the Bad Company 2 days? Just dudes posting their most fun/funny/cool/etc moments from their games that they had happen naturally? That's how this game feels to play. Everything going on just creates so many cool and fun moments that stick out in your mind because it's all totally happening unscripted (for the most part) in front of you. Doing a team reload with someone on the big bolter rifle is so satisfying and cool, playing with the machine pistol and running around diving between bugs spraying them down is so good.
Worthless amateur devs. Should have increased servers' cap to 1milion slots the very first time this issue became a thing. But instead, they've been applying more and more bandages while things are clearly not working.
I would tell you how to get in with <2 minutes of waiting but if youre too stupid to figure it out at this point, I dont think you deserve to. Plus youre a europoor and I dont want to accidentally get matched with you, the mexicans are bad enough.

I hope we get planets that are under invasion from both Terminids and Automatons and as you do operations on these planets you will occasionally see ongoing firefights between the Automatons and the Terminids which will be opportunities to sneak past or engage them. Kind of like Halo
Any trick to skip the stupid "queue"? I tried joining on my friend via Steam, but that seams to cause the game to completely shit itself, the Retrying in countdown stops, and I can only Alt + F4 from the game. I just want to play and not deal with this horseshit.

Is the revolver worth getting? I want to use the credit ive earned to unlock the premium but the only thing I really wanted was the first new armour, so wondering if theres anything else to grab.
It's accurate at long range, hits hard, and can penetrate armor decently, but it takes a long time to reload and is bad for dealing with anything that's in your face.
The revolver is pretty powerful for a sidearm. There's other good stuff in it too. There are a couple of explosive variants of the basic rifle and shotgun that can be useful, but the big thing may be the 3rd page Dominator which has Medium Armor penetration and is a fast way (though not the only way) to get a primary rifle that does that. So overall if you have the tokens from loot to unlock the premium battle pass, its worthwhile. I generally think its best to unlock the warbonds and then use leftover/bonus super credits for armors from the rotating store if you find one you really like, but realize that their bonuses are typically found elsewhere in the warbonds etc.
My thoughts exactly. We have all this future tech but nobody figured out how to load a revolver faster? Shit takes 20 seconds to reload to full and has only 6 bullets with mediocre damage and barely any armor penetration.

The problem all cross platform games face, they have to liason with all platforms to do anything. Im actually surprised they are updating this face honestly.
You can't just add more servers, you gotta make your server infrastructure actually scale well.
Lets say a server runs on a protocol where each server connected to it accounts for 10% of its total capacity in traffic. 1 server will have 100% of its resources available, 2 servers 90% per, 180% in total. With 5 servers you will only have 250% in total and with 10 servers the traffic between the servers is completely blocking out anything else.
Of course there's more nuance to the issue but you should see the general problem

Honestly I don't know how people can play shooters with controllers. I play on keyboard and mouse - feels fine to me.
When the emphasis is shootan, I'll always use mouse and keyboard. Seems fine. Keybinds are a bit wacky but nothing too bad. The dive to prone key is in the wrong spot. I keep getting in firefights then swan diving on a mine. But like yeah, shooting is fine but I'm not a sniper homosexual so maybe the transition between a proper scope and third person is a little more jarring.

It's very good against the robots, mediocre against the bugs. It's very useful for killing spore trees and egg clusters, as well as making spitters explode, but it can't deal with hordes well.
I don't even recall the PLAS-1 being in the original Helldivers, but it's my favorite weapon in Helldivers 2. Basically a battle rifle that fires explosive energy balls. Accurate at range, good for killing spore trees from a distance and scout striders through their armor, has trouble dealing with bugs though due to a limited magazine capacity.
Also terrible for use up close because you'll have a nice day with the explosion.

You can skip the queue by trying to join a lobby. If nobody has posted a lobby code, go to the steam forums and check profiles until you find somebody with a public profile that is playing, then just click join game. You will get a black screen for a minute or two, then you will either join their lobby or it will error out and kick you back to your ship.
If you are in and want to do your part, go online and set your game to public (it is by default). On Steam go to your profile and right click -> copy link address where it says "join game" and post it here. In my experience, Ganker lobbies are a lot more fun than randoms.

The DMR and Counter-Sniper are bad weapons. The Anti-Materiel rifle is what they should be - which ironically makes it a bad support weapon since it's only as good as a primary "should be."
The assault rifle is just better. Wait until you get the SMG, it is the assault rifle, but slightly lower fire rate and slightly higher damage making it a lot more reload efficient. I was expecting the exact opposite.
The good weapons are the Liberator, the Breaker, the Defender, and the PLAS-1. The Slugger is also decent and makes a better sniper rifle than the DMR or Counter-Sniper.
The DMR does kill in one hit though, up to suicidal it also kills regular bots in one hit. The counter sniper isnt worth it though, the damage increase is marginal and its better to just have 5 more rounds in a mag.

I have played on maps where people just fight bug partols, I say frick it and work my way into an objective to try and complete it, and the moment I do an eagle strike is called right on my position. Literally the same guy did this to me several times.

nProtect is virtually the worst thing you can put into your machine. Shit can disable your cooling, it can hurt AMD CPUs, it can reinstall itself even after the game is gone, etc. Shit is fricking insane, just like the sheer amount of people who got fricked in the ass because of it. The current frickery with game being unplayable is by a part caused by it as well.
Of course, it doesn't help against actual cheats at all.
But seemingly Gankereddit doesn't care, because it must consoom.

Gameguard has been around for 20 years. It's used in Lineage 1 & 2, some of the biggest MMO's on the Korean market. We'd know by now if it ate up 90% CPU. It's the game doing that, not the anti-cheat.

I dont think server capacity is the issue. on friday they left things uncapped and it made it so mission rewards were delayed or lost, and you couldnt unlock anything.

helldive can be paradoxically easier, feels like the spawn governor weights it more heavily towards titans and larger swarms of trash which are both way easier to manage than big waves of medium-size heavily armored enemies.

have you tried when they're already in game? I've noticed that helps a lot because it skips entire lobby/hub section just loads you up straight into the game
You need to enable crossplay to use friend codes, even if you only play with PC players. The "Social" menu is fricking moronic and basically disables the Friends section if you turn off Crossplay.
When the "fix" involves spending money on more servers yeah, they probably won't. The numbers are inflated while the game is new, but it wouldn't surprise me if their plan is to just ride out this wave of launch window players (remember, they already got your money lol) and then their servers will be able to handle the player count once it falls and evens out a bit after launch. There will still be plenty left over for the in game shop
Seems like they would be missing out on sales by doing this, though. The game's word of mouth hype was growing fast, if it wasn't for these issues I bet it would have hit 500k at least.

If they deliver content as promised, and with their expanding dev team it looks like they will, yes game will still be good. For max level + end game, it is indeed kinda stale. If you LOVE the gameplay, you get more of that on helldiver with ZOMGWTFBBQ number of mobs. Mechs are coming soon, but if you're not into the galactic war I could see burnout occuring.

maxed out ship makes eagles really strong and fun, ORC is a great meta stratagem, railgun feels fun to use + you can solo heavies. difficulties 7-9 are a lot of fun to run, very chaotic. the endgame is that it's fun to play and you want to keep playing it because of how fun it is. that's it.

Anons who don't know, the first game although had a dedicated fanbase it was relatively small.
They were expecting 20k-50k maximum across both platforms (PC and PS5) and are at 300k on both PS5 and PC concurrent players and it keeps growing.
The servers are burning.
By 300k players I mean 300k on PS5 and another 330k players on PC at the same time for over 600k concurrent players. For a game that had a predicated player base of 20k.
The first upgrades for most of the strats are probably some of the outright strongest, I'd prioritize the ones that speed up the refresh rate first, then the ones that increase damage for strikes and orbitals next

Think of it as starting the mission with one Eagle overhead loaded with all the weapons you bring for it. Each use takes one use away until the Eagle rearms. You can either wait until all the Eagle stratagem are used at which point it will auto-rearm which takes around 3 minutes and returns all the uses, or you can manually rearm it at any point which starts that 3 minute timer and makes it so you cannot use any Eagle stratagems until the timer is done.

More aggressive enemies, more enemies, harder types for example the Bile Titan. It's fricking scary.
Robots have tanks and mechs that appear as well, so more enemy variation. But again they are far more aggressive and yes harder to kill (more health).

You start with small arms and work your way up to explosives and armor piercing. When you get to the challenging difficulty it adds light armored enemies and grenade throwing frickers. It isn't like farcry where you just mark targets and do an insta kill maneuver, or snipe them all without raising an alarm.
Yeah, you need to coordinate your sniping to make sure you take out all the ones who can raise an alarm, or else you'll have dropships arriving on top of your ass.

Is the revolver worth getting? I want to use the credit ive earned to unlock the premium but the only thing I really wanted was the first new armour, so wondering if theres anything else to grab.
It's accurate at long range, hits hard, and can penetrate armor decently, but it takes a long time to reload and is bad for dealing with anything that's in your face.

revolver is unbelievably bad, skip it.
The revolver is pretty powerful for a sidearm. There's other good stuff in it too. There are a couple of explosive variants of the basic rifle and shotgun that can be useful, but the big thing may be the 3rd page Dominator which has Medium Armor penetration and is a fast way (though not the only way) to get a primary rifle that does that. So overall if you have the tokens from loot to unlock the premium battle pass, its worthwhile. I generally think its best to unlock the warbonds and then use leftover/bonus super credits for armors from the rotating store if you find one you really like, but realize that their bonuses are typically found elsewhere in the warbonds etc.
The revolver needs to either deal twice as much damage or reload twice as fast, it's not worth using.
In the future there's no such thing as a speed loader.
My thoughts exactly. We have all this future tech but nobody figured out how to load a revolver faster? Shit takes 20 seconds to reload to full and has only 6 bullets with mediocre damage and barely any armor penetration.
Revolver and the DMR need medium armor penetration and better damage to be worth using.
It's a shame too because I fricking love the DMR.

You can't just add more servers, you gotta make your server infrastructure actually scale well.
Lets say a server runs on a protocol where each server connected to it accounts for 10% of its total capacity in traffic. 1 server will have 100% of its resources available, 2 servers 90% per, 180% in total. With 5 servers you will only have 250% in total and with 10 servers the traffic between the servers is completely blocking out anything else.
Of course there's more nuance to the issue but you should see the general problem

There’s no excuse for the sheer incompetence on display. It’s not the servers, it’s their backend—they didn’t account for this player count, so they just didn’t write their networking (accounts being updated post mission, accounts being updated after purchase, etc.) to scale.
They’ve increased the player cap by only 200k in a week. It’s disgusting that this game still gets shilled regardless. The gameplay is great, but that doesn’t matter if you have to crawl through shit to get there.

When the emphasis is shootan, I'll always use mouse and keyboard. Seems fine. Keybinds are a bit wacky but nothing too bad. The dive to prone key is in the wrong spot. I keep getting in firefights then swan diving on a mine. But like yeah, shooting is fine but I'm not a sniper homosexual so maybe the transition between a proper scope and third person is a little more jarring.

It's very good against the robots, mediocre against the bugs. It's very useful for killing spore trees and egg clusters, as well as making spitters explode, but it can't deal with hordes well.
I don't even recall the PLAS-1 being in the original Helldivers, but it's my favorite weapon in Helldivers 2. Basically a battle rifle that fires explosive energy balls. Accurate at range, good for killing spore trees from a distance and scout striders through their armor, has trouble dealing with bugs though due to a limited magazine capacity.
Also terrible for use up close because you'll have a nice day with the explosion.

You can skip the queue by trying to join a lobby. If nobody has posted a lobby code, go to the steam forums and check profiles until you find somebody with a public profile that is playing, then just click join game. You will get a black screen for a minute or two, then you will either join their lobby or it will error out and kick you back to your ship.
If you are in and want to do your part, go online and set your game to public (it is by default). On Steam go to your profile and right click -> copy link address where it says "join game" and post it here. In my experience, Ganker lobbies are a lot more fun than randoms.
Also note that lobbies often break after a match or two and you will need to restart your game to make people able to join you again.

The DMR and Counter-Sniper are bad weapons. The Anti-Materiel rifle is what they should be - which ironically makes it a bad support weapon since it's only as good as a primary "should be."
The assault rifle is just better. Wait until you get the SMG, it is the assault rifle, but slightly lower fire rate and slightly higher damage making it a lot more reload efficient. I was expecting the exact opposite.
Click your scroll wheel to actually use the scope.
It does oneshot the little louse/flea bugs.
The good weapons are the Liberator, the Breaker, the Defender, and the PLAS-1. The Slugger is also decent and makes a better sniper rifle than the DMR or Counter-Sniper.
The DMR does kill in one hit though, up to suicidal it also kills regular bots in one hit. The counter sniper isnt worth it though, the damage increase is marginal and its better to just have 5 more rounds in a mag.

nProtect is virtually the worst thing you can put into your machine. Shit can disable your cooling, it can hurt AMD CPUs, it can reinstall itself even after the game is gone, etc. Shit is fricking insane, just like the sheer amount of people who got fricked in the ass because of it. The current frickery with game being unplayable is by a part caused by it as well.
Of course, it doesn't help against actual cheats at all.

You need to enable crossplay to use friend codes, even if you only play with PC players. The "Social" menu is fricking moronic and basically disables the Friends section if you turn off Crossplay.

When the "fix" involves spending money on more servers yeah, they probably won't. The numbers are inflated while the game is new, but it wouldn't surprise me if their plan is to just ride out this wave of launch window players (remember, they already got your money lol) and then their servers will be able to handle the player count once it falls and evens out a bit after launch. There will still be plenty left over for the in game shop
Seems like they would be missing out on sales by doing this, though. The game's word of mouth hype was growing fast, if it wasn't for these issues I bet it would have hit 500k at least.

If they deliver content as promised, and with their expanding dev team it looks like they will, yes game will still be good. For max level + end game, it is indeed kinda stale. If you LOVE the gameplay, you get more of that on helldiver with ZOMGWTFBBQ number of mobs. Mechs are coming soon, but if you're not into the galactic war I could see burnout occuring.

maxed out ship makes eagles really strong and fun, ORC is a great meta stratagem, railgun feels fun to use + you can solo heavies. difficulties 7-9 are a lot of fun to run, very chaotic. the endgame is that it's fun to play and you want to keep playing it because of how fun it is. that's it.

Anons who don't know, the first game although had a dedicated fanbase it was relatively small.
They were expecting 20k-50k maximum across both platforms (PC and PS5) and are at 300k on both PS5 and PC concurrent players and it keeps growing.
The servers are burning.
By 300k players I mean 300k on PS5 and another 330k players on PC at the same time for over 600k concurrent players. For a game that had a predicated player base of 20k.

Focus on bombing upgrades
The first upgrades for most of the strats are probably some of the outright strongest, I'd prioritize the ones that speed up the refresh rate first, then the ones that increase damage for strikes and orbitals next
the turret upgrades are insane
Going 4 different turrets as my strat loadout seems pretty fun, would I be fricking myself over though? I like the idea of being the guy that bunkers an area down.

Enemies prioritize them over you, so if a Charge or Titan go for them you better hope the rocket/autocannon ones kill them.
I want to try stacking 4 of the eagel strike abilities but i see they got limited uses. I also see theres a eagel reload. Is the reload unlimited so i can just keep getting charges back? Also whats your favorite ability?
Think of it as starting the mission with one Eagle overhead loaded with all the weapons you bring for it. Each use takes one use away until the Eagle rearms. You can either wait until all the Eagle stratagem are used at which point it will auto-rearm which takes around 3 minutes and returns all the uses, or you can manually rearm it at any point which starts that 3 minute timer and makes it so you cannot use any Eagle stratagems until the timer is done.
I had no idea you could reload eagle strats. I saw limited uses and never tried them out. appreciate you.

First match you play after getting in allows people to join. At some point your lobby will break and nobody will be able to join until you restart your game and there is no indication of when this happens.

You start with small arms and work your way up to explosives and armor piercing. When you get to the challenging difficulty it adds light armored enemies and grenade throwing frickers. It isn't like farcry where you just mark targets and do an insta kill maneuver, or snipe them all without raising an alarm.
Yeah, you need to coordinate your sniping to make sure you take out all the ones who can raise an alarm, or else you'll have dropships arriving on top of your ass.
