Nah. I’m 10 hours in and realizing this game isn’t very fun. Quite pretty but there’s not many interesting things to progress to. Gets very grindy and repetitive quickly, and also not worth buying unless you have 3 competent friends to roll with.
I can't get a feel of the arc thrower. At times it seems like it takes several shots to down a medium target like a broodguard, and at other times it seems like it kills one in a single hit AND the other one next to it.
I know the chaining is chance based, but is the actual damage done on an RNG scale as well?
damage is consistent but since the arc path is randomized it deals less damage if it rngs onto armor, shreds if you lucky shot into a bug joint or soft spot.

Just use the join trick if on steam or the launch from dashboard quick play on ps5. There are no queues. There is only a horde of people trying to push through a door all at once, and using these methods allow you to try getting through more often. If you queue the normal way, there is no line and limiting you to turning that door handle once a minute to see if you have a spot means you will likely be there a while waiting.

Fighting bots it more fun than fighting bugs
they feel way more fair, they keep a reasonable distance instead of crowding around you, and the big guys like hulks and rocket devastators are more manageable than charges, bile titans and bile spewers that sneak up behind you and spray their puke perfectly tracking you

spewers lock on in a roughly 90° cone that locks in aiming to their left or right, if you read the telegraph you can juke to the opposite side and the spew cant reach you. i agree bots are the most fun though.
This. Bugs just need to be nuked. Planet aint worth it. Bug holes also seem far worse than factories. Creditsto side objective for bugs like spore towers and illegal broadcasts. Shit is almost too easy with a recoiless
The only problem with bugs are chargers. Big armored enemy that you can't get away from and demands you pay attention to it until it's dead. Fighting multiple chargers + all the other bugs at the same time is not fun.
Chargers would be fine if their weak spot was their ass. Instead they made it their legs and you STILL need heavy weapons to pop the leg. It would make proper awareness and proper dodging mean something. Dodge their charge turn around and shoot.
Hulks on the other hand can be rendered impotent by blowing off their arms, you can kill them by shooting them in the eyes, AND they have a weak spot on their back that can easily down them with sustained fire. Then if worst comes to worst you can actually get away from them because they move slower than you.
Chargers are the only enemy in the game that feel unfair and the intuitive response to deal with them just does not work. Even Bile Titans feel fair and are manageable and they are supposed to be bigger threats.
Don't forget that literally all the bugs stun lock your shit forever.
The little spitters will slow you down, the jumpers stop you from running away and force you to turn around and shoot. Then you have the big spitters and chargers. On higher difficulties, if anything gets close to you, and you have to reload, you may as well drop an airstrike at your feet.
The amount of stun locking is so fricking annoying.

I guess it depends on what kind of role you are taking. you've got to have a more balanced team in higher levels. There should be a big gun, a horde clearer, and some support.
I say autocannon, it may eat up the backpack slot which imo for bugs isn't as needed vs bots you kinda need the shield pack. But it has 10 shots, they pierce the hive guards, can 1 shot the spewers with a nice shot down their throat, can cripple titans if you shoot their ass, stops them from spewing, you CAN kill chargers with it if you hit specifically behind their leg armor. and can plug holes with lots of ammo. carry EAT for support oh shits and boom
I just saw a video of a guy playing helldivers difficulty wearing a shield backpack and only using the grenade launcher to clear out big hives and the madman did it with no deaths.
But he was always moving, never stayed still, would retreat the entire time and just did hit and runs.
If you feel like you need to sit down and defend an objective for more than a few minutes then you'll need heavy weapons. But outside of that the grenade launcher is undisputably S tier because you can reload while sprinting, can clear out enemy outposts with it from a distance, and it can still do massive damage to virtually every enemy type including heavily armored ones. The only shit you'd have a problem with would be chargers and bile titans. But a grenade launcher is valuable at all levels.
It's gotta be some strange tangled issue. I always want to read the behind the scenes when they fix it. it's gunna be tied to "oops bugs actually had 1 hp too many which somehow made armor non functional"
Yeah this doesn't make sense to me but I also know nothing about coding. I'm assuming they decided to dump all their resources on figuring out the servers, but the devs also said they have other teams working on stuff like mechs, which are supposedly already good to go.
It's honestly insane. Like you can just assume "Oh maybe they just fricked up a few lines of codes or something" but at this point it's almost like they just didn't have armor figured out at all. It's been nearly three weaks of every armor but light armor being basically fricking useless.
the best heavy armor has only 90points more armor than the light except, you're much slower. Do you think any of it matters when you can't outrun a pack of bugs or tank a shot from multiple droids?

I really do not give a single shit if a planet is defended, won or lost.
Would be way more engaging if when a planet is saved, you get some rewards based on your participation, maybe if you reach a milestone you get a positive mission modifier, or those free strategem testings for a few days.
And if a planet is lost ALL divers get some negative modifiers on all missions vs the faction for a time.
Then you would actually be incentivized to check on planets, help a failing one and so on.
This is probably not going to happen. Mechs are most likely next update (2nd Tuesday of March) but that's also not confirmed. Illuminates have only been mentioned in a news reel at the bottom of one of the ship TV segments and there's no gameplay of them or updates from the developers at all regarding them.

Why the frick are there no vehicles? You have at most 30 minutes a mission and you have to go through an entire map on foot? All those fricking outposts, enemy bases, points of intrest full of wandering patrols that call reinforcements and you can only move on foot? Where the fucj are the troop transport cars, ATV's and even tanks of our own? Why do the robots get the Leman Russ' but not us?
We know vehicles are coming, we just dont know how many and how they will be balanced because it would be busted as frick if its just a strat you can keep calling in. Theres also more enemies coming, you can see the flying bugs in the splash screen, and there is a giant AT AT the robos get.
You can see the hulls of humvees with mountd guns around some maps, just like these mechs.
I'd say make it a limited use call in, after that it is a dead slot.
But it also is dreadfully slow so may balance out. you don't want it for traversal.

They'll drop the mech which can barely fricking move but has devastating offense and defense and those missions will become easy for anyone calling them in.
It shouldn't be too difficult to keep it balanced if they follow the same mechanics as the first game.
All vehicles including mechs should be single time use and have very limited ammunition.
For me it was always a blitz method instead of a different way to conquer an area.
When your ammo runs out that's it. You're a moving target. Jump ship and start fricking running again.
And you bet your ass if you jump out while that vehicle is moving you're gonna bust your ankles and take fall damage.
I managed to complete a quick lvl6 op against robots with 3 randoms who were ten ranks below me, but I fricking did almost everything in a mission right after with two of them. They just fricking stood there fighting bug breaches and dying repeatedly - what the hell is wrong with people? How do you get to level 15 and not realize you can just RUN AWAY?

The literal first armor in the warbonds is what you want. Armor stats are broken but the effects work I think.

You get your samples from scouting for points of interest. Grenade open sealed containers, check all glowing lights, don't die and drop your loot.
You'll find warbonds and requisition in those loots sometimes too.

It's in the free warbonds you rubber baby buggy bumper and the premium warbond is also free.
The only thing that is not free is the support the developer package with a few items that have the same effects you'd get otherwise just from playing.
I've pretty much gone with medium since the start since I like the look of the default armor, but I haven't really noticed too much of fatal slowdown, especially if you bring along the stamina booster. Who knows, maybe I just haven't been accustomed enough another weight class to notice the difference yet.

Two impact grenades anywhere on the top turret kills them, sometimes takes three with the big cannon variant but it's consistent with the machine turret one. This is probably a unintended feature so abuse it as much as you can now.

There is a armour that gives you 2 extra stimpacks, you can theoretically stim teammates, but thats not realistic in a self defense situation.

There are too many people at 7+ who don't touch samples at all, just zerg the main objective.
No wonder people are complaining about 9's difficulty, they're walking into it with no module upgrades and dogshit stratagems designed to handle medium-light enemies, but don't have any heavy armor solutions.
My ship's difficulties are stuck at Medium. I can play at Impossible no problem with my friends but this shit sucks for farming samples solo.
At least I'm swimming in green samples for now, but this sucks.

What kind of defense? Plain extermination missions actually seem reasonable in that everyone can spam stratagems at the start and you can still contribute to the objective by killing weak enemies while being overwhelmed, and then get out as soon as it's done.

if you ever get stuck in a loading screen after completing a mission just dc your Internet and it will boot you straight to the ship with mission completion intact.

I appreciate how they dropped me into a mission with no primary or secondary weapons. I don’t need more challenge as I barely scrape by doing solo medium difficulty missions at level 8 so this was pretty scummy. And subsequent respawns resulted in no weapons and I now get the question mark back on my ship.
Straight up, eagle strafing run, grenade launcher, autocanon, watch dog ROVER (the lazer gun version)
These are objectively the best options for every mission. They'll carry you to the end game.
Once you get further the next thing you want is the mortar sentry.
That's worst case scenario shit. They'll never close the distance if you know what you're doing. If you want to clear out an enemy base drop the mortar behind cover. If you want to defend and objective they'll never close the distance. It's only risky on bug planets, but the watch dog will cover your ass

Use that and EAT to farm 7s, use orbitals for the rare bile titan (EAT handles chargers)
I genuinely would not suggest 9 until you have railgun/railcannon/500kg, you just see too many bile titans to manage with your earlier toolsets

All studios should have a big part of their budget reserved for ensuring server stability in case their game becomes FOTM. Then, if it takes off, they can enjoy perhaps more than a single month of earnings. Or people with shitty fricked up toasters. The game has crashed on me once in 150 hours. I have no problems playing now that I know how to bypass the queue bullshit and once I'm playing I have stable solo sessions and sessions with my friends.
People are going on and on about hanging on login, crashing, glitches, disconnects and I can only imagine the garbage PCs they must be playing on when my experience with the game has been buttery smooth and I don't even have a top of the line rig.

I agree, if you are having problems you're still entitled to a negative review. Much still needs to be fixed.
It's both FotM and worthwhile. There's certainly some temporary inflation of the numbers since it's the big new thing in a period without much competition, but I can definitely see the playerbase retaining 80k+ people when popular attention drifts elsewhere.

I played a bot mission for the first time on Trivial by myself, the one where you have to open doors I guess and civilians run out to anther building and I got completely merked.
What the hell? Is this game really not made solo on the easiest difficulty? The robots kept spawning and I didn't get a single second for a breather. or to call in equipment.

I noticed the game ran worse after I tried using the in game fps cap option, even with the fps still capped by Nvidia control panel.

The reload speed is almost instant with a second person, it's just a lot of the times assisted reload would be helpful, having that person shooting from a second angle is more significant in terms of damage

I wouldn't say botted, but a mix of buttholes that afk'd (which has been fixed), and the fact that steam will say someone sitting at the full capacity screen is technically playing the game. So there is a slight fluff of numbers, which seems to be averaging out to healthy numbers.
my 'Hours Played' on Steam increased, not by actually playing the game, but by being stuck on the login screen. Their system counted wait time as play time kek. Truly masterful.

bots are harder than bugs of equal mission level. mortar turret is based (against bots). shoot down dropships when you can to help alleviate the swarm. don't worry about protecting the idiots just let them out the door and run for the next door.
There needs to be armor health, like in drg. Otherwise I don't see how sustainable this game can get if 90% of the robots are some variation of marauders or hulks.

Hunters. Probably the most dangerous terminid. People will point to the bile titan or stalkers, but the former can be kited and the latter you can just wipe out their lair.
Hunters come in packs of ~20 and will just jump on top of you, slow you, and rape you.

randos can obviously be hit or miss, but 90% of my games with randos have worked out fine. not as efficient or quick as if i had a premade using comms but good enough. plus playing with randos adds that possibility of getting into silly situations which is always fun if you have the right mindset
You can have a more thin body shape and give your character a female voice if you want.
It's doable but it can be frustrating if people going by themselves and dying or, even worse, reinforcing where they are dragging away teammates from their old positions. It really really blows when you try to do an objective, you die and all of a sudden you're on the other side of the map because you're "reinforcing" the dead weight on your team.

I can't get a feel of the arc thrower. At times it seems like it takes several shots to down a medium target like a broodguard, and at other times it seems like it kills one in a single hit AND the other one next to it.
I know the chaining is chance based, but is the actual damage done on an RNG scale as well?
damage is consistent but since the arc path is randomized it deals less damage if it rngs onto armor, shreds if you lucky shot into a bug joint or soft spot.
Infinite ammo, great damage, the only downside is the arc tracks onto corpses or foliage. Also sounds baller, love the thunderclap

Just use the join trick if on steam or the launch from dashboard quick play on ps5. There are no queues. There is only a horde of people trying to push through a door all at once, and using these methods allow you to try getting through more often. If you queue the normal way, there is no line and limiting you to turning that door handle once a minute to see if you have a spot means you will likely be there a while waiting.

they feel way more fair, they keep a reasonable distance instead of crowding around you, and the big guys like hulks and rocket devastators are more manageable than charges, bile titans and bile spewers that sneak up behind you and spray their puke perfectly tracking you
I feel the exact opposite. Bots have so many more ranged options, they're a lot more armored, and you need specific weapons, whereas it feels like you can kill bugs with anything as long as you keep moving.

This. Bugs just need to be nuked. Planet aint worth it. Bug holes also seem far worse than factories. Creditsto side objective for bugs like spore towers and illegal broadcasts. Shit is almost too easy with a recoiless
the bug holes connect to tunnels underground, every time you close bug holes in a sector someone on 7+ difficulty gets bugs coming out faster
The only problem with bugs are chargers. Big armored enemy that you can't get away from and demands you pay attention to it until it's dead. Fighting multiple chargers + all the other bugs at the same time is not fun.
Chargers would be fine if their weak spot was their ass. Instead they made it their legs and you STILL need heavy weapons to pop the leg. It would make proper awareness and proper dodging mean something. Dodge their charge turn around and shoot.
Hulks on the other hand can be rendered impotent by blowing off their arms, you can kill them by shooting them in the eyes, AND they have a weak spot on their back that can easily down them with sustained fire. Then if worst comes to worst you can actually get away from them because they move slower than you.
Chargers are the only enemy in the game that feel unfair and the intuitive response to deal with them just does not work. Even Bile Titans feel fair and are manageable and they are supposed to be bigger threats.
You don't need heavy weapons to pop the legs. Medium penetration weapons will create holes that low penetration can use to damage.
Don't forget that literally all the bugs stun lock your shit forever.
The little spitters will slow you down, the jumpers stop you from running away and force you to turn around and shoot. Then you have the big spitters and chargers. On higher difficulties, if anything gets close to you, and you have to reload, you may as well drop an airstrike at your feet.
The amount of stun locking is so fricking annoying.

I guess it depends on what kind of role you are taking. you've got to have a more balanced team in higher levels. There should be a big gun, a horde clearer, and some support.
I say autocannon, it may eat up the backpack slot which imo for bugs isn't as needed vs bots you kinda need the shield pack. But it has 10 shots, they pierce the hive guards, can 1 shot the spewers with a nice shot down their throat, can cripple titans if you shoot their ass, stops them from spewing, you CAN kill chargers with it if you hit specifically behind their leg armor. and can plug holes with lots of ammo. carry EAT for support oh shits and boom
I just saw a video of a guy playing helldivers difficulty wearing a shield backpack and only using the grenade launcher to clear out big hives and the madman did it with no deaths.
But he was always moving, never stayed still, would retreat the entire time and just did hit and runs.
If you feel like you need to sit down and defend an objective for more than a few minutes then you'll need heavy weapons. But outside of that the grenade launcher is undisputably S tier because you can reload while sprinting, can clear out enemy outposts with it from a distance, and it can still do massive damage to virtually every enemy type including heavily armored ones. The only shit you'd have a problem with would be chargers and bile titans. But a grenade launcher is valuable at all levels.

I really do not give a single shit if a planet is defended, won or lost.
Would be way more engaging if when a planet is saved, you get some rewards based on your participation, maybe if you reach a milestone you get a positive mission modifier, or those free strategem testings for a few days.
And if a planet is lost ALL divers get some negative modifiers on all missions vs the faction for a time.
Then you would actually be incentivized to check on planets, help a failing one and so on.

This is probably not going to happen. Mechs are most likely next update (2nd Tuesday of March) but that's also not confirmed. Illuminates have only been mentioned in a news reel at the bottom of one of the ship TV segments and there's no gameplay of them or updates from the developers at all regarding them.

Why the frick are there no vehicles? You have at most 30 minutes a mission and you have to go through an entire map on foot? All those fricking outposts, enemy bases, points of intrest full of wandering patrols that call reinforcements and you can only move on foot? Where the fucj are the troop transport cars, ATV's and even tanks of our own? Why do the robots get the Leman Russ' but not us?
We know vehicles are coming, we just dont know how many and how they will be balanced because it would be busted as frick if its just a strat you can keep calling in. Theres also more enemies coming, you can see the flying bugs in the splash screen, and there is a giant AT AT the robos get.
You can see the hulls of humvees with mountd guns around some maps, just like these mechs.
I'd say make it a limited use call in, after that it is a dead slot.
But it also is dreadfully slow so may balance out. you don't want it for traversal.

They'll drop the mech which can barely fricking move but has devastating offense and defense and those missions will become easy for anyone calling them in.

When your ammo runs out that's it. You're a moving target. Jump ship and start fricking running again.
And you bet your ass if you jump out while that vehicle is moving you're gonna bust your ankles and take fall damage.

You get your samples from scouting for points of interest. Grenade open sealed containers, check all glowing lights, don't die and drop your loot.
You'll find warbonds and requisition in those loots sometimes too.

It's in the free warbonds you rubber baby buggy bumper and the premium warbond is also free.
The only thing that is not free is the support the developer package with a few items that have the same effects you'd get otherwise just from playing.
I've pretty much gone with medium since the start since I like the look of the default armor, but I haven't really noticed too much of fatal slowdown, especially if you bring along the stamina booster. Who knows, maybe I just haven't been accustomed enough another weight class to notice the difference yet.

you pretty much got to go to the side objectives. Main objectives have a few, but the majority of them are out in the field

You can use the railgun on the turret, but it takes like 6 or 7 shots from the fronts/sides
Two impact grenades anywhere on the top turret kills them, sometimes takes three with the big cannon variant but it's consistent with the machine turret one. This is probably a unintended feature so abuse it as much as you can now.

The munitions cost for 1 spear missile is way too high. I just stick with RR so I can get shots off in a pinch.
As a Spear addict here's some tips.
>Spear always always works best at long range, preferably more than 50m
>within 20m or so it'll refuse to lock on at all, and in the rare occasions that it does it'll overshoot the target
>try and get the entire target within the circle if possible
>smoke/dust and other environmental factors can gum up targeting
>try and have at least 90% of the target visible
>try and kinda curve the missile into where you want it to go, if it allows
>much better on bots than bugs
>sometimes Spear-chan just don't wanna work even when you do everything right
tl;dr engage at as long a range as able, sometimes things are just fricked anyway

My ship's difficulties are stuck at Medium. I can play at Impossible no problem with my friends but this shit sucks for farming samples solo.

It does feel like as armor scales up and armored enemies become more common, everything but stratagems stop being useful.
That's because nearly all of the weapons are dogshit, and the anti-armor stuff has very limited ammo.

I don’t need more challenge as I barely scrape by doing solo medium difficulty missions at level 8 so this was pretty scummy. And subsequent respawns resulted in no weapons and I now get the question mark back on my ship.

The problem with the mortar is that if your team lets anything come near you might get your ass blown to bits. It's risky as frick.
That's worst case scenario shit. They'll never close the distance if you know what you're doing. If you want to clear out an enemy base drop the mortar behind cover. If you want to defend and objective they'll never close the distance. It's only risky on bug planets, but the watch dog will cover your ass

Use that and EAT to farm 7s, use orbitals for the rare bile titan (EAT handles chargers)
I genuinely would not suggest 9 until you have railgun/railcannon/500kg, you just see too many bile titans to manage with your earlier toolsets

I recommend playing bugs until you unlock some decent anti-tank options like the Expendable Anti-Tank tubes.

Most people don't have a reason to assist reloads outside of very specific situations, and even then it's usually better to do other things

I imagine they probably thought it would be better to half a slow self reload than no one ever using them, if it were up to me id buff them and have team reload or make it even slower(balance changes look like it might be a big ask with the armor shenanigans). Don't really mind the titan but the tank weak spot does encourage moron play until one knows better(or doesn't)

I can't really see how they could incentivize the buddy system without a straight up buff and even then most people outside of premades are probably still going to want to do their own thing.
The reload speed is almost instant with a second person, it's just a lot of the times assisted reload would be helpful, having that person shooting from a second angle is more significant in terms of damage
Being able to reload yourself was a fricking mistake, same for giving Bile Titans and Tanks a weak spot that can be hit by non-armor piercing weapons. No cooldown on reinforce is also just a step back from the first game.
I wouldn't say botted, but a mix of buttholes that afk'd (which has been fixed), and the fact that steam will say someone sitting at the full capacity screen is technically playing the game. So there is a slight fluff of numbers, which seems to be averaging out to healthy numbers.
my 'Hours Played' on Steam increased, not by actually playing the game, but by being stuck on the login screen. Their system counted wait time as play time kek. Truly masterful.

Protip: the dropship doesn't have a timer until the first person enters, then there's a 20 second window before it leaves.

I usually carry RR or Autogun, but the main issue is that there isn't much of an incentive for someone to be a buddy and follow me around the whole map, in the same way there's not much of a reason to give someone your stimpack instead of just waiting until there's a good time to use a resupply beacon or finding one at a location

bots are harder than bugs of equal mission level. mortar turret is based (against bots). shoot down dropships when you can to help alleviate the swarm. don't worry about protecting the idiots just let them out the door and run for the next door.

There needs to be armor health, like in drg. Otherwise I don't see how sustainable this game can get if 90% of the robots are some variation of marauders or hulks.

What's the difference between green and orange light armor bugs? Also I haven't seen blade chargers yet, are they exclusive to Suicide Mission/Helldive?
Green is toxin (damage over time), orange is acid that seems to be instant damage and destroys your limbs.
Green bugs explode when you kill them, orange don't.
Orange is instakall horseshit if you happen to round a corner or they get the drop on you.

Hunters. Probably the most dangerous terminid. People will point to the bile titan or stalkers, but the former can be kited and the latter you can just wipe out their lair.
Hunters come in packs of ~20 and will just jump on top of you, slow you, and rape you.
I understand stand it's coop focused. Is it fun enough with randos or should you really be playing with friends and mic? Like I've had fun joining random lobbies in TF2 but Dota2 is just misery in a random group.
randos can obviously be hit or miss, but 90% of my games with randos have worked out fine. not as efficient or quick as if i had a premade using comms but good enough. plus playing with randos adds that possibility of getting into silly situations which is always fun if you have the right mindset
You can have a more thin body shape and give your character a female voice if you want.
It's doable but it can be frustrating if people going by themselves and dying or, even worse, reinforcing where they are dragging away teammates from their old positions. It really really blows when you try to do an objective, you die and all of a sudden you're on the other side of the map because you're "reinforcing" the dead weight on your team.

The number of times I've cucked my reloads by performing some other action has really made me appreciate EDF's giant ass reloading bar in the middle of the screen. With that thing, you know exactly how long a reload will take.
