Hack attempts and breeches are becoming increasingly more serious as the industry perpetually lags behind in security. Hostile agents are becoming more numerous in addition to having faster brute force hardware and AI based tools that I expect will become a huge problem in the next few years if not already. Having a rootkit based anti-cheat means that any vulnerability in that software becomes free external access to everyone using it.
Anticheat will have to become more invasive as cheating tools utilise near impossible to detect techniques. there's already virtual mouse inputs with an external screen based detection.

here's some advice, if you have a web browser that isnt some super niche autism shit, have any form of social media, use any store front (including shit like steam and amazon), use windows, and a ton of other things, your data and private information has already been sold to thousands if not hundreds of thousands of other companies.
If they do monetization the way they mentioned it , it may not suck. Emphasis on MAY, mostly predicated on the amount of currency you can get at a rate just by playing the game vs the costs of items and battle passes. If they do it right, the fundamental seem better than most other games -

The only possible issue is above. They've giving one warbond catalog free to everyone it seems and the Super Citizen / deluxe version owners get the first one they intend for you to unlock/pay too.

This is my yearly scam game coop purchase like Darktide and Payday 3 the past two years where I get FRICKED
Darktide is better now. I felt the exact same way at launch but i've enjoyed it a lot more now that I put some time into understanding the gameplay because I wasn't too into Vermintide.
The biggest problem was lack of content at launch and grindy as frick weapon acquisition. Those things haven't changed, but in another year when there are 3 more missions it will be worthwhile

It's a little more than DRM. You are not allowed to even HAVE reverse engineering tools on your PC, the initial GameGuard scan will pick them up and block the game from working. This is very different than EAC, which will only stop the game if it detects those applications running.
For false positives, this can turn ugly fast. Utility programs like SuperF4 (which allows for finer control on forced application closes) are being flagged by NProtect, so you need to compromise your personal Windows setup to play the game.
Also, NProtect has poor compatibility for Linux/SteamOS. Even when it was enabled for PSO2, it would cause issues loading the game from an SSD that took months to fix. A small part of the community sure, but worth mentioning as the Deck continues to find modest success.
What's worse is the dishonesty. The use of NProtect was announced only 2 weeks before launch, with Arrowhead's community team largely dancing around any potential issues it may cause. All of this could be avoided if Arrowhead just paid a little extra for EAC.

I'm pretty sure they already did. They're more worried about cheaters going into games and instantly killing bosses or teleporting around to collect samples. You can earn premium currency in this game by just playing the game, so you're effectively 'stealing money' by cheating in their eyes (more incentive to hack the game imo)

For false positives, this can turn ugly fast. Utility programs like SuperF4 (which allows for finer control on forced application closes) are being flagged by NProtect, so you need to compromise your personal Windows setup to play the game.
Also, NProtect has poor compatibility for Linux/SteamOS. Even when it was enabled for PSO2, it would cause issues loading the game from an SSD that took months to fix. A small part of the community sure, but worth mentioning as the Deck continues to find modest success.
What's worse is the dishonesty. The use of NProtect was announced only 2 weeks before launch, with Arrowhead's community team largely dancing around any potential issues it may cause. All of this could be avoided if Arrowhead just paid a little extra for EAC.
Tl;dr It scans your filesystem for potential modding programs. Unlike EAC, just having them installed will cause the game to fail. False positives include popular utility apps, so you need to "clean" your PC just to play.

They may not have been thinking about it and/or they were told that it would be easy to support post-launch because other anticheats like EAC and Battleye made it capable to enable on Linux if the devs wished , be it native or Proton/Wine. Even GameGuard supposedly did so in the past with Linux support for Phantasy Star Online 2 (though even that gacha garbage style monetization laden game dumped gamegard for other anticheats). The devs can try and put their head in the sand about people complaining about shit like performance (oh its not the anticheat) or other stuff, but lack of support on Deck / Linux, prominently displayed especially with as well as the Decks sell, gets them to pay attention because its a very visible, undeniable limitation of the software and its costing them sales; even short term greedy bean counter types can see that as a problem.

The deluxe one includes some really busted gear, but no it's not a necessity.
They include an upgrade if you get the basic edition so just get that and upgrade down the line.
(PS make sure to buy on a keysite, it's under $30 on most)
If you like any of the stuff in the deluxe, get it. Just make sure to pick it up on a key site for a 20% discount or more. Note that it used to be the cost of the upgrade pack is significantly above the difference between the standard and deluxe, not sure if that was an error or not (it showed $35 USD vs the 20 itshoud be). Now the store page is fricked up o who knows, but this was during preorder etc.
If you get the Deluxe it, atop some unique cosmetics, you get Super Citizen status which not what that means exactly yet but people suggested its basically an XP/resource booster plus some other shit, and the first pay warbond (battlepass catalog that doesn't expire) . Also if you buy now you should get pre-order stuff if you're close enough from a vendor that has them. I've seen keysellers from legit sites (cdkeys, humble etc) selling the Deluxe for like 45 or so so its up to you if you think it may be worth it, but you save some cash either way if you can grab the discounts on either version

As I understand it, there is a single "premium" currency and you can both buy it, or get it by playing the game. Doing optional objective in missions and shit, point of interest...are supposed to grant it. The only question as above is how much you get per mission/POI vs the cost of items.

You might be too young to posses the memory of it, but there was a time when games were games and not services.
It's a little more than DRM. You are not allowed to even HAVE reverse engineering tools on your PC, the initial GameGuard scan will pick them up and block the game from working. This is very different than EAC, which will only stop the game if it detects those applications running.
For false positives, this can turn ugly fast. Utility programs like SuperF4 (which allows for finer control on forced application closes) are being flagged by NProtect, so you need to compromise your personal Windows setup to play the game.
Also, NProtect has poor compatibility for Linux/SteamOS. Even when it was enabled for PSO2, it would cause issues loading the game from an SSD that took months to fix. A small part of the community sure, but worth mentioning as the Deck continues to find modest success.
What's worse is the dishonesty. The use of NProtect was announced only 2 weeks before launch, with Arrowhead's community team largely dancing around any potential issues it may cause. All of this could be avoided if Arrowhead just paid a little extra for EAC.

I'm pretty sure they already did. They're more worried about cheaters going into games and instantly killing bosses or teleporting around to collect samples. You can earn premium currency in this game by just playing the game, so you're effectively 'stealing money' by cheating in their eyes (more incentive to hack the game imo)

The devs can try and put their head in the sand about people complaining about shit like performance (oh its not the anticheat) or other stuff, but lack of support on Deck / Linux, prominently displayed especially with as well as the Decks sell, gets them to pay attention because its a very visible, undeniable limitation of the software and its costing them sales; even short term greedy bean counter types can see that as a problem.

They include an upgrade if you get the basic edition so just get that and upgrade down the line.

If you like any of the stuff in the deluxe, get it. Just make sure to pick it up on a key site for a 20% discount or more. Note that it used to be the cost of the upgrade pack is significantly above the difference between the standard and deluxe, not sure if that was an error or not (it showed $35 USD vs the 20 itshoud be). Now the store page is fricked up o who knows, but this was during preorder etc.
If you get the Deluxe it, atop some unique cosmetics, you get Super Citizen status which not what that means exactly yet but people suggested its basically an XP/resource booster plus some other shit, and the first pay warbond (battlepass catalog that doesn't expire) . Also if you buy now you should get pre-order stuff if you're close enough from a vendor that has them. I've seen keysellers from legit sites (cdkeys, humble etc) selling the Deluxe for like 45 or so so its up to you if you think it may be worth it, but you save some cash either way if you can grab the discounts on either version

It's literally just Third Person Helldives and feels good to play the only issues is that Illuminates(The shit faction in one) got cut but they said new factions are possible in free update
Genuinely think it may be the best coop shooter just in terms of quality. The guns feel different, are fun as frick to use, enemies are dangerous and gib when you shoot off legs or blow their faces up, the explosions are absolutely 10/10.
I wish the god fricking quickplay worked. I already love it solo.

Hit play, nguard starts up, black screen loads in, then nothing. Play lights back up again on steam. Validating files now.

PS5 runs flawlessly for me, but medium settings for 60fps. If you turn it up, 30fps maximum.

They got in a massive lawsuit in korea (they were the choice of anticheat for pretty much every pub there) for scanning people's harddrives when games weren't running and banning them based on those scans.

since there's so much shitflinging I've been looking around. in your steamapps/common/helldivers2/tools there is a GGuninstaller exe.
I would assume this removes the rootkit, probably better to run this BEFORE, uninstalling helldivers2 thru steam.
