The range is fine, all the flamethrower needs to be 'good' is to apply some sort of panic or slowing effect to bugs. The only real problem with it is that hunters and pouncers can sprint through the inferno like it's not even there and set you on fire for a gorrillion DOT, if it did something to stop that it would be the absolute best chaff horde deletion weapon in the game.

100 flamethrower kills was my very first challenge. You dont even get it til level 10. And yeah the range is trash and it's too easy to set yourself on fire with it.
Rover is incredible because of its ability to thin out and clear fodder closing in on you. Autocannon is pretty cool in general but also cuz it can close bug holes. EAT is fantastic cuz you can hit a charger's leg and then finish it off with your primary.
You can spam shoot it after your first shot at only 1/3rd of the charge. Basically constant shooting once you get the timing down. And if you aim above the enemy you avoid shots disappearing cause they hit the floor in front of you.
It's fricking great against bugs, not least because it can deal with Hunters in a way that doesn't make them immediately leap horizontally to avoid your aim.
One more tip for you, against heavy enemies you need to concentrate your fire. It can kill a charger in 8 shots, which is only about 6 seconds, but you have to hit the head, meaning it must be facing you. Any shots to the back or side are basically wasted going towards an entirely separate HP pool
when you're not playing with your brothers in gaming, some bullshit with certain players who like to do every single task no matter how bullshit it is for the situation, you will become fond of the kick option when you see some moron randomly run away from the extract to deal with a light enemy camp for the sake of securing one common sample and maybe costing you 3-5 reinforcements... these motherfrickers become more annoying in difficulties 6 and up and a lot of the time will cost you the entire mission, leading to a loss of time and no medals in the end to secure that sweet sweet premium pass armor. I hate completionist spergs so much bros, why don't they listen?,

I have been kicked several times a day for the last few days before I even get in a pod; I do not know if they did not like I was a 50 or a Super Citizen. Whatever missions I did join (level 7) have been cluster fricks. I make more medals and super credits (only thing I am not capped on) doing trivials solo.

Why does the number of player matter? It a stupid excuse. it's percentages. If you want the players to only make 0.05% progress per hour set the decay rate to always be 0.05% less than what the player are doing at any given hour, you don't even need a human to do this.

its great if you are quickjoining randoms and rush the map objectives while they die to patrols. Thats because you are not using it anyway, and you do not have to worry about ammo if you do.
What enemy do you prefer? Robots all the way for me, much more dynamic and interesting enemies than bugs. Bug fights are always tedious backpedal and shoot endlessly kind of deal.

I've been bringing EMS strike when in a full squad, and it's fantastic for bug beaches. Everything that pops up gets stunned, and then you drop artillery on it. It's always off cooldown before the next bug breach.
Plus you can throw it into your squad without worrying about friendly fire. It's basically a shield against bugs without ranged attacks.
I'm worried that they're gonna be adding so many strategems, enemies, difficulty levels, etc that 4 strategem slots might not be a enough at a certain point.
Maybe if they made the other options less shit people would pick them. Nobody is going to use the pump action ever again after unlocking the breaker. Give it armor piercing slugs and I'll bring that instead.
Man, some of the grenades are so useful but the explosive ones are too good for closing holes. I wish they would let you set more than one grenade type. For example, set it so you have half of them being smoke, other half explosive, etc.

Its a benefit on the "micro" scale, as the second anon said - having new dynamic events and stuff pop up, reactions etc. However on the "macro" scale its a problem given they advertise it to players as a >player controlled narrative! Your success in combat means a different outcome than a failure! Work together and change the campaign
yet it its really being switched out to go along a predetermined path behind the scenes, that is an issue. I noticed yesterday that "we' failed the whole "defend 8 planets in X days" missions, but it sure as hell felt like there weren't ENOUGH defend missions (at some time, i remember looking for another defend mission planet but one wasn't open) and/or the ones they did have seemed the automatons were winning for some in reason despite players seemingly focusing on that planet and doing well. So yeah, if its a "professional wrestling" level kayfabe that need to go right to hell.
There should a "Game Master" for each Faction instead of one overarching GM imo. One handles the Terminids, one handles the Automatons, and one handles the Illuminate when they get added.

The illuminate are the psychic guys as some of their units can mid control you and reverse your controls. The parasite aliens could actually be a thing considering in the leaks their was evidence that a rebel faction is planned

Orbital laser is cool but it will spend half its duration on a single crusher to kill it. And you have like 4 or 5 non orbitals firing at the crushers in that webm and none of them are doing damage most of the time.
i love running across the map, lobbing airstrikes and 500k bombs on outposts and nests and seeing the explosions across my screen, these missions are the best and the worst ones are the ones where they just make you kill a certain amount of the opposing faction, nothing to blow up 🙁
even if the breaker's numbers get nerfed and the other weapon numbers go up, it'll stay top tier due to the simple fact it's an automatic shotgun in a game where you get swarmed by lots of approaching melees. it's made for it

Moving on into the game, the amount of fun relies entirely on how quickly can you dispatch chargers, their presence is extremely oppressive and any encounter relies entirely on not letting two of them get together
Very early on, you have the eat17 callins, two well placed rockets let you break a leg and do actual damage but in harder difficulty there's simply not enough to deal with everything, later on you get the flamethrower, lets you cook them in their own shells (along with your squad)
And then there's the recoilless rifle,a single shot breaks charger's heavy armor, but I really dont like it, you're sitting still for too long to recharge.
Then there's the autocannon, mostly reliable, good amount of ammo, but doesnt pierce through heavy armor,the trick here is that is the only weapon that can do actual damage to their "weak" spot and kill one in 3-4 shots
And then there's the golden solo, the abominable Railgun, people hate it because it's meta, but its only meta because it is the only actual answer against chargers,and again, killing chargers early define wether you live an assault or not, charge two shots against the same spot, preferable one of the front legs,and the heavy armor peels off
I like the slugger. It knocks medium enemies back A LOT. Often when theres a swarm I will keep switching around shooting whatever is closest once, pushing it back and switching
its not permanent, its just sometimes shitty and needs to be manually uninstalled; it doen't always come out with the game. its nProtect GameGuard which is a Korean MMO from a decade or two ago style anticheat. Its kernel mode, but yet its not very "good at it' and as you can see the work arounds allow for cheating. The thing itself is kind of cumbersome and has some issues, but the best thing for them to do is to just have server side checks to prevent that kind of shit. Honestly I was pleasant surprised that Linux/SteamOS doesn't get fricked up b it.
The concern now is that the devs will see people pulling the kind of bullshit in this thread (modded shit here and there) an either force more draconian anticheat instead of doing the smart thing that's actually effective -server side sanity checks. The game checks in online for all progression, choices, campaign etc.. so it should be easy to see if a character went in wit 100 resources to a mission that had a maximum of 50 more resources if you collected them all, yet at the end of the mission the player has fricking 9999 resources, that something shitty happened and overwriting of that parameter shoud be done all without client side anticheats.
Genuinely the worst part about growing up especially when some of the friends become parents.

I understand disliking normal mortars, but stuns can destroy any bug advancement easily and lock them in place for 20 seconds. Especially useful at extractions when 3 Bile Titans start swarming the area and you really don't have time to deal with other bugs - just let the titan kill all stunned bugs because he's fricking stupid.
Having friends to play with is the best, it lets you get away with dumb fun shit like going full Flame Lord against the bugs even at higher difficulties.
Its 8 shots to the head. The problem is shots to the back or sides do not count at all. Its probably 15+ on either of those targets, and shooting them wont contribute to a head kill
I don't really trust to fight by shooting many times at a creature that wants to move in and around all your team mates with a gun that kills your team mates. If you could very reliably kill them before they reach you, then sure.
You CAN kill it before it reaches you, but you need a clean line of fire, a decent distance and no distractions. So not reliable. Thats fine though, if there are teammates around to worry about team killing, they can worry about the chargers while you jus spam the swarm. If they also have Arcs, then the combined firepower will kill chargers reliably, otherwise they probably have rails or EATs. If you are alone, you don't need to worry about teamkilling and can kill the charger on the second pass
Im pretty sure the Dominator is bugged and doesn't actually do explosive. I just unlocked the Scorcher last night and that thing will 1 shot you if you hit something too close I cannot make the Dominator self-damage at all.
I want to love this game but the crashes and disconnects are making it hard. The absolute worst thing for me though is the traversal speed on just basic infantry weapons. I don't know whether it was just a really weird intentional balance decision or the devs have just never handled a real life weapon and think they all weigh 50lbs, but it's horrible. It almost makes me want to uninstall.

I'd rather take all the map aggro and frick around than feed reinforcements to bugs 24/7. Works like well-oiled machine once you figure out that bugs (and bots) can't signal the alarm in two places at the same time, as soon as they use it at some bumfrick place they cannot use it again for around 30-60 seconds which allows main group to do objectives for free.

Bug tunnel breaches are OP. It's impossible to stop them outside of making sure every small bug is already dead which is not feasible. At least bots have a short period where you can prevent the drop.

there's a superstore armour that gives -30% recoil on crouch/prone and +2 grenade capacity that has the same speed as the trailblazer set. i run it with the trailblazer helmet

the engineer armor for the regular warbonds store has the same effect, but I don't know if the other stats work on either, you're pretty slow but nades are really really useful in this game. especially for green bugs, unless you bring the nade launcher and ammo pack of course.
Currently armor stats are broken so speed is quite literally the only aspect of armor that matters and basically you're griefing if you dont use that armor.

The recoiless rifle is better in almost every way. The spear is better like maybe 2% of situations, and worse in about 60% of situations. That's being generous.
are you playing in HDR? The resetting is a widespread bug. 11 is like 350 nits and 8 is 200 nits. A lot of games frick up and have some particle effects etc. tied to UI brightness settings, so I put my UI brightness to 8 each time I boot the game because HDR is supposed to have a paper white of 203 nits when properly calibrated
the game is fixed at a 1000 nit peak, so if you're using a display that only outputs a peak of 400 or 800, then you're going to get clipping with intensely bright elements
but to answer your question, no, mine doesn't look like that. I'm using an AW3423DW and it has a 1060 nit peak display.
Tell me about the EAT. It's the only anti-armor thing I've got at level 5 and stratagems can't catch those fat frick charger buttholes. How do I kill them reliably with the two shots I get?
Use the glitch: shoit it's legs with primary/ secondary when it finishes charging and is turning around. I always use grenade launcher and airstrike/cluster so I kill them that way. I let teammates deal with titans since they bugbreached anyways.

In MAG, the battles won actaully impacted the overall war, because it's all PvP. In this game, the fatfrick dev just goes "um ok, i'll let them have this planet in the bug side, but then I'm gonna take a planet on the bot side." It's all made up as they feel.

Difficulty in this game does not increase enemy HP or Damage. All it does is make more armored enemies spawn. Higher difficulty means you have to bring gear with you to counter armor. Its that simple.
The yellowish spot on the charger but is not actually a weak spot. It's considered a "fleshy" spot which means bullet damage is reduced to 10%, but explosives deal full damage. Either hit it with explosives, or crack open to armor to expose a proper weakspot. Hit a front leg with an EAT, recoilless, or 2 railgun shots to crack it open and expose a weakspot which will kill it in under a mag of any primary weapon.
if you're still a beginner my advice is don't dive out of their way unless it's absolutely necessary at the last half second. just run to the side when they approach, you're fast enough, then unload into their ass
if you've got something that can strip armor like the recoilless or EAT then strip armor from its leg, then shoot the leg with a primary
Recoilless Rifles on the front charger legs when they're looking at you straight on and then pump maybe 5-10 shotgun rounds into the armor stripped foot and they're dead. Same for the disposable rocket launcher.
I honestly wouldn't grind or do Hard and above until you're level 20 and have access to a full compliment of enemy armor fricking gear like the Rail Guns and others, Challenging is also very consistent so you'll rack up a lot of samples.
Hard is easily doable without max level gear. It's only when you go above that and shit like bile titans starts spawning as regular enemies that you really need that sort of gear for.
If you have a bunch of broskis ya Hard is fine. The problem is that I've had quickplay Hard land nearby a secondary objective multiple times now where we'll have 1+ stalkers and 2-3 chargers immediately all over our shit, which isn't a problem if you have the gear but most people don't and half the fricks bring some meme backpack instead of armor piercing anything anyway.
Challenging is the perfect medal + sample lower level quickplay option because you can still have fun when you get morons not carrying armor piercing anything so long as you brought your own. I literally never leave home without my Recoilless Rifle that has survived atmospheric re-entry twice.
Why does the arc thrower sometimes just decide to not shoot? Even when there's an enemy right infront of me there's a chance it will just not send out an arc.
welcome to playing with unupgraded laser weaponry, it was similarly bad in HD1 but you don't get any upgrades yet. they'll be better patrol sweepers later but will still struggle a bit during alerts.

Real life grenade launchers most certainly do have a minimum arming distance, usually determined by the grenade's rotation after it leaves the barrel. The only change I'd like to see with the GL is JUST ONE MORE MOTHERFRICKING BELT JESUS CHRIST.
Oh, and for the HD1 vets, was stratagem customisation a thing or was that just for weapons? I'd like to be able to fit different types of grenades in the future.

In a game like Armored Core, letting the autism graphs come out is a really good thing since half the game is putting together and tweaking your set up.

I need some clarification on the armours. Before release it was described as what you see if what you get, so armour with say a big ol' pauldron will offer a greater area of protection than armour with no pauldron. I'm assuming this is still a thing but the armour values are just fricked?
I feel like I've noticed shots glancing off of me when I'm wearing thiccer armour and I have 100% seen shots hit backpacks I'm wearing and glance off.

I really hope the "armor is bugged into everyone having 0 defense" thing isn't true. Players right now are just as tanky as they should be, except for maybe heavy armor being too squishy. If even light armor becomes far more resilient than it now is, it'll unironically be bad for the game. Big part of the fun is how easily you can die.
Its apparently that enemies seem to have 100% armor penetration right now. The reason they havent fixed it is because they need to go in and manually set values for each enemies armour penetration, this isnt that difficult either, but its definately harder to balance.
I suspect they are compiling a bunch of feedback and observations from the playerbase dealing with the game and want to do one big balance patch instead of a bunch of smaller tweaks over time.
Heavy armor makes you slow as frick, making you prime busy material for hunters. Some extra protection would help at least fighting them off you since you can't run.

Enemies do X damage, and have an AP rating attached to that attack. Lighter armor will take 'full' damage from more enemies, thus existing as it does in game right now. By fixing enemy AP values, only the floor will raise to varying levels based on how heavy your armor is, there will still be plenty of 'eat shit' attacks.

It's not consistent. You can aim right at a Bile titan and have nothing happen until it suddenly works. Pretty sure the bug hive terrain fricks up the lock-on
Spear can one shot biotitans if it hits their head and generally two shot chargers, when it decides to actually lock on and you're far enough away that it doesn't arc over the target and miss

The main advantage anti materiel rifle has over other support weapons is accuracy at long range. if you find a good sniping spot far away from an enemy group you can kill a lot of them before they get to you

one good thing about flamethrower is that is damages every part of a large armored target at once, so no matter what part of the enemy your team is focusing, you're helping.

Use medic armor for extra liberty juice. Occasional hits aren't even a big problem, real problem is hunters jumping to your side and applying poison. But with some practice you learn to fire flamethrower mid jump just like you would with shotty or smg. Though sometimes this causes you to ignite, but again it is solved buy medic armor.
If it's anything like the lightning shotgun support weapon from HD1, it'll hit everything in a wide but relatively short cone. Kind of like a lightning flamethrower.

In fairness, I think people saw that there was a reward and just piled in. The problem with the automaton defense is that it was specifically with defense missions, which are fricking awful to play let alone win. All people had to do this time was just win their normal games.

What was the internal logic in making the flamethrower so shit? Did they genuinely think it was okay during playtesting? Was it overpowered during playtesting and nerfed too hard? Is it intentionally bad?
needs to have about triple the range, to bring it in line with real life flamethrowers and to make it actually viable. every other weapon is so well done, staged reloads, reload animations changing on stance, some of the best feeling shotguns ive ever used in a game. wild how hard they dropped the ball on flamethrower.
They need to increase fire DOT damage to enemies across the board. Not just the flamethrower, every fire source is way too weak.
I don't mind the range. My problem is the dot on fire. Why does it do so much to players, but next to nothing against bugs?

The range is fine, all the flamethrower needs to be 'good' is to apply some sort of panic or slowing effect to bugs. The only real problem with it is that hunters and pouncers can sprint through the inferno like it's not even there and set you on fire for a gorrillion DOT, if it did something to stop that it would be the absolute best chaff horde deletion weapon in the game.
This is true with every video game flame thrower ever. Weak, but also with a 5 foot range instead of 30-40

100 flamethrower kills was my very first challenge. You dont even get it til level 10. And yeah the range is trash and it's too easy to set yourself on fire with it.

Rover is incredible because of its ability to thin out and clear fodder closing in on you. Autocannon is pretty cool in general but also cuz it can close bug holes. EAT is fantastic cuz you can hit a charger's leg and then finish it off with your primary.

You can spam shoot it after your first shot at only 1/3rd of the charge. Basically constant shooting once you get the timing down. And if you aim above the enemy you avoid shots disappearing cause they hit the floor in front of you.

It's fricking great against bugs, not least because it can deal with Hunters in a way that doesn't make them immediately leap horizontally to avoid your aim.
One more tip for you, against heavy enemies you need to concentrate your fire. It can kill a charger in 8 shots, which is only about 6 seconds, but you have to hit the head, meaning it must be facing you. Any shots to the back or side are basically wasted going towards an entirely separate HP pool

I have been kicked several times a day for the last few days before I even get in a pod; I do not know if they did not like I was a 50 or a Super Citizen. Whatever missions I did join (level 7) have been cluster fricks. I make more medals and super credits (only thing I am not capped on) doing trivials solo.
I've noticed that it's either the host being pissy about the fact that someone breathes, or they leave after one mission

I believe their "best case scenario" projections were around 100k, and they've had to up server capacity to 700k.
Why does the number of player matter? It a stupid excuse. it's percentages. If you want the players to only make 0.05% progress per hour set the decay rate to always be 0.05% less than what the player are doing at any given hour, you don't even need a human to do this.
so what's going to happen when the fotm ends and the playerbase drops to 10k

I've been bringing EMS strike when in a full squad, and it's fantastic for bug beaches. Everything that pops up gets stunned, and then you drop artillery on it. It's always off cooldown before the next bug breach.
Plus you can throw it into your squad without worrying about friendly fire. It's basically a shield against bugs without ranged attacks.
I'm worried that they're gonna be adding so many strategems, enemies, difficulty levels, etc that 4 strategem slots might not be a enough at a certain point.

Moving on into the game, the amount of fun relies entirely on how quickly can you dispatch chargers, their presence is extremely oppressive and any encounter relies entirely on not letting two of them get together
Very early on, you have the eat17 callins, two well placed rockets let you break a leg and do actual damage but in harder difficulty there's simply not enough to deal with everything, later on you get the flamethrower, lets you cook them in their own shells (along with your squad)
And then there's the recoilless rifle,a single shot breaks charger's heavy armor, but I really dont like it, you're sitting still for too long to recharge.
Then there's the autocannon, mostly reliable, good amount of ammo, but doesnt pierce through heavy armor,the trick here is that is the only weapon that can do actual damage to their "weak" spot and kill one in 3-4 shots
And then there's the golden solo, the abominable Railgun, people hate it because it's meta, but its only meta because it is the only actual answer against chargers,and again, killing chargers early define wether you live an assault or not, charge two shots against the same spot, preferable one of the front legs,and the heavy armor peels off
I like the slugger. It knocks medium enemies back A LOT. Often when theres a swarm I will keep switching around shooting whatever is closest once, pushing it back and switching

How bad is the anti-cheat for this game? I hear it’s permanently installed on your system
its not permanent, its just sometimes shitty and needs to be manually uninstalled; it doen't always come out with the game. its nProtect GameGuard which is a Korean MMO from a decade or two ago style anticheat. Its kernel mode, but yet its not very "good at it' and as you can see the work arounds allow for cheating. The thing itself is kind of cumbersome and has some issues, but the best thing for them to do is to just have server side checks to prevent that kind of shit. Honestly I was pleasant surprised that Linux/SteamOS doesn't get fricked up b it.
The concern now is that the devs will see people pulling the kind of bullshit in this thread (modded shit here and there) an either force more draconian anticheat instead of doing the smart thing that's actually effective -server side sanity checks. The game checks in online for all progression, choices, campaign etc.. so it should be easy to see if a character went in wit 100 resources to a mission that had a maximum of 50 more resources if you collected them all, yet at the end of the mission the player has fricking 9999 resources, that something shitty happened and overwriting of that parameter shoud be done all without client side anticheats.

I don't really trust to fight by shooting many times at a creature that wants to move in and around all your team mates with a gun that kills your team mates. If you could very reliably kill them before they reach you, then sure.
You CAN kill it before it reaches you, but you need a clean line of fire, a decent distance and no distractions. So not reliable. Thats fine though, if there are teammates around to worry about team killing, they can worry about the chargers while you jus spam the swarm. If they also have Arcs, then the combined firepower will kill chargers reliably, otherwise they probably have rails or EATs. If you are alone, you don't need to worry about teamkilling and can kill the charger on the second pass
Which is why I wish they would fix armour values, I want to use the heavy armour just because it looks good, but it makes you move slow.
Im pretty sure the Dominator is bugged and doesn't actually do explosive. I just unlocked the Scorcher last night and that thing will 1 shot you if you hit something too close I cannot make the Dominator self-damage at all.

I want to love this game but the crashes and disconnects are making it hard. The absolute worst thing for me though is the traversal speed on just basic infantry weapons. I don't know whether it was just a really weird intentional balance decision or the devs have just never handled a real life weapon and think they all weigh 50lbs, but it's horrible. I'd rather take all the map aggro and frick around than feed reinforcements to bugs 24/7. Works like well-oiled machine once you figure out that bugs (and bots) can't signal the alarm in two places at the same time, as soon as they use it at some bumfrick place they cannot use it again for around 30-60 seconds which allows main group to do objectives for free.
I've been doing this for the past week and never been kicked. People love easy missions and free samples/medals/super credits.

Bug tunnel breaches are OP. It's impossible to stop them outside of making sure every small bug is already dead which is not feasible. At least bots have a short period where you can prevent the drop.
Big bugs can call them in too. If there's no small bugs the warriors do it instead.

Brood Commanders can call them in as well. Once I even saw one successfully summon a breach while missing its head, which was some bullshit.

there's a superstore armour that gives -30% recoil on crouch/prone and +2 grenade capacity that has the same speed as the trailblazer set. i run it with the trailblazer helmet
the engineer armor for the regular warbonds store has the same effect, but I don't know if the other stats work on either, you're pretty slow but nades are really really useful in this game. especially for green bugs, unless you bring the nade launcher and ammo pack of course.
Currently armor stats are broken so speed is quite literally the only aspect of armor that matters and basically you're griefing if you dont use that armor.
Sometimes I wear heavy armour just for the hell of it.

my ui brightness keeps resetting

are you playing in HDR? The resetting is a widespread bug. 11 is like 350 nits and 8 is 200 nits. A lot of games frick up and have some particle effects etc. tied to UI brightness settings, so I put my UI brightness to 8 each time I boot the game because HDR is supposed to have a paper white of 203 nits when properly calibrated

the game is fixed at a 1000 nit peak, so if you're using a display that only outputs a peak of 400 or 800, then you're going to get clipping with intensely bright elements
but to answer your question, no, mine doesn't look like that. I'm using an AW3423DW and it has a 1060 nit peak display.
Tell me about the EAT. It's the only anti-armor thing I've got at level 5 and stratagems can't catch those fat frick charger buttholes. How do I kill them reliably with the two shots I get?

Use the glitch: shoit it's legs with primary/ secondary when it finishes charging and is turning around. I always use grenade launcher and airstrike/cluster so I kill them that way. I let teammates deal with titans since they bugbreached anyways.

In MAG, the battles won actaully impacted the overall war, because it's all PvP. In this game, the fatfrick dev just goes "um ok, i'll let them have this planet in the bug side, but then I'm gonna take a planet on the bot side." It's all made up as they feel.

Why does completing an operation on one difficulty not unlock the next difficulty despite the description saying this should happen.
Just to make sure, are you completing the full operation? Not just a mission, but all the missions in the yellow area after selecting one.
Tips for beginners? Stalkers are buttholes but chargers are worse. I dump three mags down his belly and they still just flop around like a dick.
Difficulty in this game does not increase enemy HP or Damage. All it does is make more armored enemies spawn. Higher difficulty means you have to bring gear with you to counter armor. Its that simple.
chargers just don't work, the physics simulations have no fricking idea what to do with those things
just avoid them because even if you fight them by the time you beat one there will be another right behind it
The yellowish spot on the charger but is not actually a weak spot. It's considered a "fleshy" spot which means bullet damage is reduced to 10%, but explosives deal full damage. Either hit it with explosives, or crack open to armor to expose a proper weakspot. Hit a front leg with an EAT, recoilless, or 2 railgun shots to crack it open and expose a weakspot which will kill it in under a mag of any primary weapon.
if you're still a beginner my advice is don't dive out of their way unless it's absolutely necessary at the last half second. just run to the side when they approach, you're fast enough, then unload into their ass
if you've got something that can strip armor like the recoilless or EAT then strip armor from its leg, then shoot the leg with a primary
Recoilless Rifles on the front charger legs when they're looking at you straight on and then pump maybe 5-10 shotgun rounds into the armor stripped foot and they're dead. Same for the disposable rocket launcher.
I honestly wouldn't grind or do Hard and above until you're level 20 and have access to a full compliment of enemy armor fricking gear like the Rail Guns and others, Challenging is also very consistent so you'll rack up a lot of samples.
Hard is easily doable without max level gear. It's only when you go above that and shit like bile titans starts spawning as regular enemies that you really need that sort of gear for.
If you have a bunch of broskis ya Hard is fine. The problem is that I've had quickplay Hard land nearby a secondary objective multiple times now where we'll have 1+ stalkers and 2-3 chargers immediately all over our shit, which isn't a problem if you have the gear but most people don't and half the fricks bring some meme backpack instead of armor piercing anything anyway.
Challenging is the perfect medal + sample lower level quickplay option because you can still have fun when you get morons not carrying armor piercing anything so long as you brought your own. I literally never leave home without my Recoilless Rifle that has survived atmospheric re-entry twice.
Why does the arc thrower sometimes just decide to not shoot? Even when there's an enemy right infront of me there's a chance it will just not send out an arc.

Real life grenade launchers most certainly do have a minimum arming distance, usually determined by the grenade's rotation after it leaves the barrel. The only change I'd like to see with the GL is JUST ONE MORE MOTHERFRICKING BELT JESUS CHRIST.
Oh, and for the HD1 vets, was stratagem customisation a thing or was that just for weapons? I'd like to be able to fit different types of grenades in the future.

I need some clarification on the armours. Before release it was described as what you see if what you get, so armour with say a big ol' pauldron will offer a greater area of protection than armour with no pauldron. I'm assuming this is still a thing but the armour values are just fricked?

I really hope the "armor is bugged into everyone having 0 defense" thing isn't true. Players right now are just as tanky as they should be, except for maybe heavy armor being too squishy. If even light armor becomes far more resilient than it now is, it'll unironically be bad for the game. Big part of the fun is how easily you can die.
Its apparently that enemies seem to have 100% armor penetration right now. The reason they havent fixed it is because they need to go in and manually set values for each enemies armour penetration, this isnt that difficult either, but its definately harder to balance.
I suspect they are compiling a bunch of feedback and observations from the playerbase dealing with the game and want to do one big balance patch instead of a bunch of smaller tweaks over time.
Heavy armor makes you slow as frick, making you prime busy material for hunters. Some extra protection would help at least fighting them off you since you can't run.
Look at
Enemies do X damage, and have an AP rating attached to that attack. Lighter armor will take 'full' damage from more enemies, thus existing as it does in game right now. By fixing enemy AP values, only the floor will raise to varying levels based on how heavy your armor is, there will still be plenty of 'eat shit' attacks.
Spear would be a lot more useful if it locked on more consistently
Flamethrower is better than you think, but hard to use. You can easily kill a charger if you know what you're doing

The main advantage anti materiel rifle has over other support weapons is accuracy at long range. if you find a good sniping spot far away from an enemy group you can kill a lot of them before they get to you

Use medic armor for extra liberty juice. Occasional hits aren't even a big problem, real problem is hunters jumping to your side and applying poison. But with some practice you learn to fire flamethrower mid jump just like you would with shotty or smg. Though sometimes this causes you to ignite, but again it is solved buy medic armor.

If it's anything like the lightning shotgun support weapon from HD1, it'll hit everything in a wide but relatively short cone. Kind of like a lightning flamethrower.
