I'd have rather they made the actual anti-tank not suck (killing chargers in one hit to face or ass) than reduce the spawns. Railgun would remain excellent at killing bots and hive guard or other mid-tier bugs, and usable against big bugs, so it'd stay the generalist support weapon
I'd prefer they did that, but also greatly increase the amount of enemies on screen in higher difficulties, rather than just throwing 10 heavily armored bugs at you. Give me a sea of bugs to blow apart with a MG or something, man. Let the game be fun I don't give a frick if the PS5 has limitations.

This is the easiest popular PvE game by a country fricking mile. Do you really think this game would be as popular as it is if it was hard? If you want a real challenge go play some fricking C3DW VT2 with real chads like me. Where you actually have to git gud at the game instead of sprinting from objective to objective.

This post is accurate. The game is full of dogshit and the railgun was a sort of, "shut up moron" gun so you can actually experiment with the different backpacks. Now post patch I just do the same because the devs have failed to address the actual issues of the game and I'm using autocannon instead. Sometimes I'll consider AMR, but autocannon works almost everywhere, sort of like the Railgun.
If this game is just dicking around like a headless chicken then it has no staying power. The devs themselves are shitters and only play diff 5 which I could solo with EAT-17 and no railgun or ac.

The game is incredibly popular and well received, it's really the guys spending all day on reddit (or in the /vg/ thread lol) complaining who are the contrarians.
It's just nonsense that you can play smart around a charger and unload a whole shotgun mag point blank into their weak point, for it to have such little effect. If that is how strong they are meant to be, then they are spawning too much (at least below impossible/helldive difficulty)

nah chargers are the entire problem with bugs. Its spawns a lot of them and they take way too much damage, the reason the railgun was meta was because it could kill them fast, but it was still spawning too many and they still had a lot of health if you didnt specifically shoot their leg off
The weak spot on their back should not be doing 10% dmage, it should be doing full. The game is effectively punishing you for play the game well by getting around chargers.

Their thorax/butt took normal damage, but you're encouraged to use your heavy weapons to blow chunks of their carapace off and wipe them out in a single magazine. I like that design choice myself, if you come prepared you can take one out, otherwise you gotta focus fire on their ass and play the long game
The trouble was that there can legit be like 4-5 of the things coming at you at once which only perpetuated the need for Railgun overuse, less of them spawning means more weapon variety. I just hope there's still enough Chargers to make a difference since the bugs are all about keeping you on the move and never in one place, and Chargers do it second best to Titans

Chargers need a bit of an HP nerf or something. I saw one tank one of those big orbital lasers and it was ridiculous considering they're not even the top tier bug enemy.

I might add, destiny did the same mistake when designing champion enemies as "difficulty"

They can't just take away combat options via global debuffs like increased "Orbital Stratagem cooldowns by 50%" and expect people to not race towards the most convenient solutions
Don't tell players the energy shield is a braindead option "that takes autonomy away from the player making choices" when the only other protective choice is the incredibly ass Ballistic Shield that only operates with select one-handed weapons

I have 3170 and not even grinding, youre playing on higher difficulties where its harder to scour the map, the tradeoff being you can get rare materials. If you want SC play 6 or 5, not 7 and up, otherwise you are just trying to finis the mission as fast as possible because there are more enemies.
Also play on bots, bugs are really badly tuned. I am starting to hate how people act like there is only bugs in this, play the fricking bot maps they are better.

bro makes a point here ive played about 100 hours and dont have all the primaries yet, I have however unlocked the premium bullshit which isn't very good it adds like one useable fricking weapon and thats the revolver. premium currency and samples are the only thing that really matters and their really easy to get though.

This is my complaint, there should be downtimes after a bit, i don't wanna have to just bolt it because i'll run out of ammo before they run out of bugs.
What difficulty are you on? If it's not 7+ then fair enough, its fine to enjoy the scenery. Suicide mission and above though a lot of people want to secure the super samples, do the primaries and then get the frick out of dodge before the timer runs down and spawns get really dangerous for evac.
I just got the game like 2 days ago, I'm still working through the difficulties and learning the game. Yet every player I meet on fricking diff 4-5 missions just wants to speedrun the mission and gtfo
The devs are dogshit, i don't know how but somehow they managed to break the fricking BALLISTIC SHIELD to where it just locks you into the hug emote if you try to use it and keeps you from using your guns.
The CEO stated that they are intentionally making primary weapons bad so that you are required to use stratagems to deal with bigger threats and bigger hordes.
That's all fine and dandy, but you only get four stratagems. One is your obligatory "support" weapon, one is most likely a backpack, and that leaves two for turrets and bombardments that have fairly long cooldowns. This isn't even stopping to consider the hazards that restrict you to three stratagems, randomize your stratagems, and etc.
I'm not saying that focusing on stratagems is wrong, but they need to do something to make them more available more often, if they want them to be your primary tool for dealing with enemies and objectives. God forbid, if you die and your "support" weapon and backpack are lost to a massive horde and you have no option, but to abandon them and wait for your cooldowns, leaving you with your garbage primary.

The default assault rifle kicks Automaton ass in my experience so idk where the "bad" is.
Personally i find the Plas 1 better against bots, and the slugger is better against bugs since bugs have such huge weak points its easy to dome them and drop them in 1 - 3 hits, also slugger stunns bugs, and the plas stuns bots.

The legs and hips of at-st's are medium armor but its still pretty hard to hit those consistently. 3-4 shots will cause the walker to topple over. You can do the same thing with the anti-material rifle in 1 shot if you are lucky.
GL bounces off too many things, save it for bugs where you can use it to turn the spewer (and to a lesser extent chargers) butt weak point into an actual weak point, and to clear out masses of chaff.

Arc cannon, laser bot, orbital rail, 110m air strike, you’ll kill every bug small bug on the map and can take down several chargers and titans. 2 teammates with rail guns and another with whatever. Literally cleared everything head on in helldive. Almost no deaths.
I was in an impossible mission with 4 guys until 2 decided to dip out after being overrun by bugs, leaving some guy and I to finish the mission. We did everything but extract. Point is, don't rage quit and frick over the squad

really the ideal way to play with 4 people who know what they're doing is to just have either 2+2 or a 4 way split of everyone clearing different parts of the map
Machine Gun - good and fun to use
Anti-Material Rifle - worthless, boring, and lacks any functionality that isn't done better and faster by other weapons
Stalwart - worse machine gun. should just be nerfed into a primary weapon
EAT - mediocre tool, boring to use, has a delay before you can shoot it like the flamethrower
RR - mediocre, underwhelming tool. worse than the EAT for the lack of mobility and cooldown. dedicating 2 people to 1 weapon is a meme that looked fun and interesting on paper, but in reality is ignored for good reason as an additional person dealing damage is universally better and more fun
Flamethrower - gimmick weapon. useful for killing chargers and janky/unreliable for everything else
autocannon - good and sort-of fun to use
railgun - pre-nerf: absurd and obscene. why was this gun even in the game. it split the game in half; one half having no trouble with anything ever and one half being mil-sim larpers. post-nerf: still great and the most versatile, fun weapon in the game
Spear - never used it
my main issue with this game is that it's extremely easy, and being treated as if it's not. the railgun does trivialize a lot and honestly has a negative impact on the game, but the limp-dick energy of almost every other option in the game, as well as the stupidity of the 2-person reload system (hundreds of development man-hours for healbawd inclusivity) is making me bored quick.
also the new "jingle - super earth mantra" things they added are gay and less funny than the other stuff in the game
why bother stealthing when I can just call in an airstrike and clean up the 1-2 remaining enemies in less than 10 seconds with a pistol. re-read: "the game is extremely easy" and "mil-sim larping"

Doesn't it have a larger ammo pool? If its got the same RPM toggles as the MG I'd try it.
It does, I think the RPMs may be slightly different though. The main benefit of the Stalwart is the ability to reload on the move. The drawback is the lower damage-per-shot. I still prefer the basic b***h bend-me-over-I'm-reloading LMG for that reason.
Anti-Material Rifle is great vs robots, with good aim it outdoes the railgun, it one taps devastators and two taps dreadnoughts or whatever you call the bigger versions. A great weapon considering how the railgun nerfs bring them mostly in line
It does pen armour and it can kill 6 devastators faster then a rail gun can. It can two tap a hulk faster then you can shoot it and reload.
It has more mobility then the railgun which slows down when you are charging. What the frick are you talking about?
Grenade Launcher - great gun. probably the best gun in the game aside from the railgun when paired with an ammo pack

Wow the devs finally got it through their fricking head that the railgun meta was only a symptom and the problem is actually the ceaseless conga line of armored bugs.
they killed me before but it was with a barrage. i was killed 7 times and they didnt barrage me — the ones that DID barrage missed me. sometimes they'd just be like a mile away and suddenly im directly sniped by a single missile from them.
My only death to a stock is when they hit me mid dive, ragdolled me several hunfread feet into one of those open pits killing me instantly.
It's the second most owned I've ever been.

I dont know what to tell you man, the armour definately works and you can feel the difference. Youre not going to take 3 shots from a mortar blast but you will survive getting lit up by light arms and rockets quite handily.

That game went through the same thing with metagays kicking you from groups because you weren't playing specific classes. This is unironically the same situation we are experiencing.
And like that game, you occasionally got a group of randoms that knew what they were doing, played whatever class, and cleared high level missions easily.
These games are all about cooperation and understanding the mechanics.
I think helldivers' biggest problem is that people are going up the difficulties too quickly because of the progression mechanics.
Medium is pretty gentle but people would be better if they played that until they understood how to approach all of the objectives at least

I just did a d6 robot mission on the moon and it's cancer, low visibility with long sights for the bots, this is the first time I don't wanna play bots, and I used to spam them on d7 with relative ease, frick rocket spam in this big ass open map, and the showers occasionally force me out of cover, frick that moon planet

I think that when several bile titans can spawn at once on a tiny fricking defense map then you probably have a problem with the spawn algorithm.

This post is accurate. The game is full of dogshit and the railgun was a sort of, "shut up moron" gun so you can actually experiment with the different backpacks. Now post patch I just do the same because the devs have failed to address the actual issues of the game and I'm using autocannon instead. Sometimes I'll consider AMR, but autocannon works almost everywhere, sort of like the Railgun.
If this game is just dicking around like a headless chicken then it has no staying power. The devs themselves are shitters and only play diff 5 which I could solo with EAT-17 and no railgun or ac.

nah chargers are the entire problem with bugs. Its spawns a lot of them and they take way too much damage, the reason the railgun was meta was because it could kill them fast, but it was still spawning too many and they still had a lot of health if you didnt specifically shoot their leg off
The weak spot on their back should not be doing 10% dmage, it should be doing full. The game is effectively punishing you for play the game well by getting around chargers.

Their thorax/butt took normal damage, but you're encouraged to use your heavy weapons to blow chunks of their carapace off and wipe them out in a single magazine. I like that design choice myself, if you come prepared you can take one out, otherwise you gotta focus fire on their ass and play the long game
The trouble was that there can legit be like 4-5 of the things coming at you at once which only perpetuated the need for Railgun overuse, less of them spawning means more weapon variety. I just hope there's still enough Chargers to make a difference since the bugs are all about keeping you on the move and never in one place, and Chargers do it second best to Titans

I have 3170 and not even grinding, youre playing on higher difficulties where its harder to scour the map, the tradeoff being you can get rare materials. If you want SC play 6 or 5, not 7 and up, otherwise you are just trying to finis the mission as fast as possible because there are more enemies.
Also play on bots, bugs are really badly tuned. I am starting to hate how people act like there is only bugs in this, play the fricking bot maps they are better.

Lascannon max range is about 100 meters. Past that the beam just stops.
I've killed it with the scythe from half the map away. Guess I haven't tested the lascannon enough but that seems silly if so.

What difficulty are you on? If it's not 7+ then fair enough, its fine to enjoy the scenery. Suicide mission and above though a lot of people want to secure the super samples, do the primaries and then get the frick out of dodge before the timer runs down and spawns get really dangerous for evac.

The devs are dogshit, i don't know how but somehow they managed to break the fricking BALLISTIC SHIELD to where it just locks you into the hug emote if you try to use it and keeps you from using your guns.
The CEO stated that they are intentionally making primary weapons bad so that you are required to use stratagems to deal with bigger threats and bigger hordes.
That's all fine and dandy, but you only get four stratagems. One is your obligatory "support" weapon, one is most likely a backpack, and that leaves two for turrets and bombardments that have fairly long cooldowns. This isn't even stopping to consider the hazards that restrict you to three stratagems, randomize your stratagems, and etc.
I'm not saying that focusing on stratagems is wrong, but they need to do something to make them more available more often, if they want them to be your primary tool for dealing with enemies and objectives. God forbid, if you die and your "support" weapon and backpack are lost to a massive horde and you have no option, but to abandon them and wait for your cooldowns, leaving you with your garbage primary.

Slugger fricks bots up the arse. One-shots devestators on head shot, but they're a bit difficult to land from a distance.
Personally i find the Plas 1 better against bots, and the slugger is better against bugs since bugs have such huge weak points its easy to dome them and drop them in 1 - 3 hits, also slugger stunns bugs, and the plas stuns bots.

The legs and hips of at-st's are medium armor but its still pretty hard to hit those consistently. 3-4 shots will cause the walker to topple over. You can do the same thing with the anti-material rifle in 1 shot if you are lucky.
A pelvis shot with an autocannon is a oneshot
In my experience a hit anywhere with the autocannon takes out a strider because the explosion pops the bot piloting it.

Autocannon can kill hulks from the front but the GL has better group clearing.
autocannon > grenade launcher > stalwart
GL bounces off too many things, save it for bugs where you can use it to turn the spewer (and to a lesser extent chargers) butt weak point into an actual weak point, and to clear out masses of chaff.
autocannon is the choice here

EAT - mediocre tool, boring to use, has a delay before you can shoot it like the flamethrower
RR - mediocre, underwhelming tool. worse than the EAT for the lack of mobility and cooldown. dedicating 2 people to 1 weapon is a meme that looked fun and interesting on paper, but in reality is ignored for good reason as an additional person dealing damage is universally better and more fun
Flamethrower - gimmick weapon. useful for killing chargers and janky/unreliable for everything else
autocannon - good and sort-of fun to use
railgun - pre-nerf: absurd and obscene. why was this gun even in the game. it split the game in half; one half having no trouble with anything ever and one half being mil-sim larpers. post-nerf: still great and the most versatile, fun weapon in the game

my main issue with this game is that it's extremely easy, and being treated as if it's not. the railgun does trivialize a lot and honestly has a negative impact on the game, but the limp-dick energy of almost every other option in the game, as well as the stupidity of the 2-person reload system (hundreds of development man-hours for healbawd inclusivity) is making me bored quick.
also the new "jingle - super earth mantra" things they added are gay and less funny than the other stuff in the game

It does, I think the RPMs may be slightly different though. The main benefit of the Stalwart is the ability to reload on the move. The drawback is the lower damage-per-shot. I still prefer the basic b***h bend-me-over-I'm-reloading LMG for that reason.
It's great for bugs.
Anti-Material Rifle is great vs robots, with good aim it outdoes the railgun, it one taps devastators and two taps dreadnoughts or whatever you call the bigger versions. A great weapon considering how the railgun nerfs bring them mostly in line

I was playing fine on high setting the whole time and now i lowered everything to medium and turned shit off and i get awful loading time, lot of freeze while dropping down the first time and occasional stutters here and here

Do not use it on bugs, its definately effective on bots. I have survive being shot by a fricking tank, granted it was with a sliver of health but normally I would be dead.
I got shot by a tank in light armor and lived. Albeit the armor had explosive resistance. Meanwhile when I wore heavy armor my cheeks were spread and the robotdick got me
I dont know what to tell you man, the armour definately works and you can feel the difference. Youre not going to take 3 shots from a mortar blast but you will survive getting lit up by light arms and rockets quite handily.

Medium armor is only playable if you use the padding perk
And heavy armor with extra padding (200) actually protects you a little bit

That game went through the same thing with metagays kicking you from groups because you weren't playing specific classes. This is unironically the same situation we are experiencing.
And like that game, you occasionally got a group of randoms that knew what they were doing, played whatever class, and cleared high level missions easily.
These games are all about cooperation and understanding the mechanics.
I think helldivers' biggest problem is that people are going up the difficulties too quickly because of the progression mechanics.
Medium is pretty gentle but people would be better if they played that until they understood how to approach all of the objectives at least

You can't really take anything they say as fact. The slugger said that it only pierced light armor but it punches through hive guards. I'm pretty sure that shitty green sniper rifle is the same
They've been on record explaining that some weapons will still pierce armor up to a point, but the damage is drastically reduced.

Gave solo a go and it's not worth it vs having a competent squad who clears everything but it's surprisingly just as fast on an objective by objective basis.
Kinda funny though because half of the 'stealth' is just running in circles until you drop aggro
most of the time when i'm grouped with randoms they can't make up their mind where to go. sometimes this isn't a problem because they'll follow a ping if you or someone else puts one out, but even then sometimes they'll just run in circles and i still cannot understand what they're doing unless they're just completely and utterly lost.

When playing with randoms you roll the lottery for getting something maybe better or maybe worse than going in solo
the absolute worst part about randoms is PS5 controllers have a mic that's on and open by default with no indicator that's the case unless you actually read the settings

The only thing hard about robots are the insane dropshit spawns. They're fine otherwise. Better designed than bugs.

For people playing on Helldive it's not the railgun that's an issue, it's the armor getting nerfed hard

Every time I see this charger count complaint, the number increases. Two days ago it was "how do you kill 3 chargers?" now it's "how do you kill 10 chargers?"

The issue is NOT the difficulty, I'm just seething that a DIRTY and SMELLY ape left me to watch his dumbass waddle for a few minutes.
The only thing I really want to see changed are chargers. They're not fun to fight. I've noticed most pubs completely ignore them and expect the other guys to take care of it, meanwhile on stuff like bot missions I've seen randoms go out of their way to knock out tanks and hulks for each other.

I just did a d6 robot mission on the moon and it's cancer, low visibility with long sights for the bots, this is the first time I don't wanna play bots, and I used to spam them on d7 with relative ease, frick rocket spam in this big ass open map, and the showers occasionally force me out of cover, frick that moon planet

Pretty sure it's just badly coded like half the other stuff in the game. I see the lights on the ground for maybe half of them. The others are just no sign at all.
