with the patch they changed a type of mission to have more enemies, people have realized that has fricked with the global spawn rate of elites across all modes and difficulty, people are getting 3+ tanks on a single drop ship on difficulty 4 which is not intended

first charge needs to be a 100% and it stays "spooled" for a while after that, when its like this you can fire it off at 60% ish charge for a bit less damage, there's a sound queue you can listen for to know when a shot can be fired

The devs really only have themselves to blame, they've been way too slow in adding new content and every time they actually do add new things something ends up totally broken like those fricking inferno bugs breaking the game if they ever fire on a spawn bunker. Each mech comes with 14 rockets, and 1000 rounds for the mini gun, the minigun is akin to a slug shotgun so it will penetrate medium armor, and go through things. LEARN TO BURST FIRE WITH IT.
Its great against bugs, sucks against bots.
you get 2 charges, 600 second cooldown. So dont be a tard and drop them at the start, Drop it when you are about to hit a lot of nests/big nests /the fight is starting to turn to shit. You will need support.
In mech you should be focusing on chargers, rocket their leg and gun it down. Same goes for biles. After that prioritize medium threats, hunters will just have you wasting ammo.
A heavy devastator means you're dead.
A laser tower means you're dead.
When the mech has low HP it doesn't tell you to get out like in hd1,you die with it.
They're trash.
Devs have made it clear they don't want players to get their fun from the game or the tools we're provided but from short term lulz from explosions and ragdoll physics.

Honestly this is worse than the guys who would run non-stop in Left4Dead coop campaigns where the front guy kept spawning enemies and having them peel onto his teammates behind him.
It's not even fun doing that type of gameplay. Left4Dead was fun staying together with your team and clearing as you go. It's straight up griefing at that point and it's now a common thing to do in hell divers.
They need to add deterrents to stop players in HD2 from copying the Left4Dead constantly run, create more enemy aggro, and peel them off onto rest of teammates.

I tried that and the most pro epic gamer of the group kept doing the 24/7 running shit. I told them to stop abandoning the team and even showed him that we can quickly clear bug breaches but they refused to listen.
If I fricking see someone sprinting away from me during massive mob aggro I will peel all the mobs onto them and purposefully not shoot the mobs or help them while just observing them. Game became incredibly unfun with the constant abandonment. It's not even me who is spawning the bug breaches.

It's still a core gameplay problem inherent to HD2 when it happens in public lobbies as well as friend groups.
People do it because it works and rewards who ever is the best team abandoner. It has massive incentives for them so why wouldn't they do it? There is no deterrent at all for people to abandon their team.

If you see someone running away from a group and separated then it should be a no brainer that they're an easy kill where you can easily divide & conquer.
There's no kiting when players aren't even shooting and just keep sprinting, regen their sprint meter while jogging, then sprint again.

Helldivers 1 Diff 8-9 was all about stealth and deleting a patrol before it could react. In HD1, if enemies are alerted and spawning in, you're running away or dying pointlessly with hardly ever any middle ground.
This game is meant to be like the first.

With bug patrols they won't call in bug breaches until they're 6 ft away from you if you remain crouch/prone and still. Not sure if it's a bug with the stealth system or intended.
But this never works in lobbies because players love jogging so damn much.

In HD1 you had an isometric view to see if teammates were abandoning and running away. Also they were literally blocked from running away because they have to stay in isometric view of the rest of the players where you would run into an invisible wall if you got too far away. This provides incentive to stop players for constantly running and actually shoot back once they hit the edge of the screen.

People weren't actively averse to working together, and used the call outs way more. Why they replaced "Move" with "follow me" Idk what it is but I swear people hear the "follow me" and then actively refuse to out of spite.
Meanwhile I could run to the edge of screen hitting "MOOOVE" and I have 3 guys immediately turning to follow me.

The freezing in place and all those things seem to be related to server stability and population. They've been happening intermittently since launch.
Protip: having a teammate punch you will end the freezing bit.

Slugger is wack against bugs especially in permutations with tons of Hunter Black folk (though it is pretty good against Bile Spewers), get the Punisher instead.
Can't tell if you're joking or not. The slugger is fricking great and I use it 90% of the time now that it has more ammo. It's biggest weakness is hordes because of the pump-action fire rate, but it one-shots all unarmored enemies, can kill every bot in one shot except for hulks and tank (and can stunlock hulks from behind), and can kill every bug except for bile titans. Bring the machine pistol and use it if you're getting swarmed, otherwise just pop heads from medium range.

All the trannies I've played with have been chill and good at the game. I even added a couple on steam because they actually know how to play as a squad.
My patience is just about out. Which is fine for them really, I already played beyond the point I can refund. But with the new login issues and the CONSTANT crashes the game is quickly becoming not even worth the effort to play.
It'd be one thing if the crashes were being worked on, but if anything they're getting WORSE with every minor change on their end. A friend I play with literally crashes 10+ times per mission, with the game literally BSODing his entire PC once, where I'm "lucky" enough to "only" crash at LEAST twice per mission.

I'm running heavy armor in Helldive, it's very useful. You're not going to be going sanic fast in every situation. Sometimes you'll be bogged down or swarmed and that extra padding gives you 3x more health than light armor
I always carry a Supply pack anyway so the 2+ stims aren't necessary when I'm just resupplying myself on the go. there's a lot of bullshit in 7+ that insta kill you and being able to tank a rocket is important.

yes, it's an instant kill for any other armor, the heavy armor now does what it's supposed to. I can't give specifics but I know it's significant. if a rocket explodes near you then it only takes a small bite of health, if it's a direct attack then you will survive granted you aren't being peppered continually and can health immedietely.
I haven't tried it with a shield backpack but I know you'll be genuinely tanky with this strategy.

you have no idea how many times I've killed myself because I shot my autocannon point blank at my teammate's shield which I can barely fricking see with all the fog.
Anyone else getting stuck after a mission where it should have the "press X to return to ship" but it's just a greyed out screen and you can't do anything?
Here's my concept for targeting binoculars.
Make it a secondary (you lose your sidearm)
and it allows you can mark stuff for an eagle strike /orbital from far away.
Obviously it'll expend your stratagems like normal
The rocket launchers, I guess. And kind of the autocannon (it's my favorite gun but it still kind of useless against heavy stuff and is slow to reload)
Expendable anti tank, recoilless rigle, arc thrower and (surprisingly) flamethrower
Or you can just keep using the railgun on unsafe if you're not a pussy
railgun is dead, you can't hold button for 5 seconds doing nothing while it charges, it's unviable. And if you don't, it can't even kill brood commanders. You're just dragging your team down if you bring it.
The railgun is still better than the anti-material sniper. It's basically a sniper and has its situational usefulness.

I never had that problem, I enjoy creating gimmicky setups that are fun.
2 setups: >jetpack (jump on cliffs/mountains), anti-material sniper, regular sniper, sentry [sit on mountain sniping for your team while having a sentry below you shooting the bugs crawling along your cliff] >flamethrower, EMS orbital, gas, napalm
Obviously you can add whatever variations like tesla gun. But it's fun in trying to create builds that are underutilized and gimmicky.

Here's how I think they should fix bugs.
Crank the enemy density up to 12.
remove chargers and bile titans from the small hole breach (have bile titans patrol instead and aggro if they see firefights from a distance not full aggro) and give chargers a unique spawn animation that when 2 or 3 smaller enemies are calling at once it causes bigger breach.
I feel like bugs should be more about getting overwhelmed by tons of enemies than having armored units stop the gameplay in its tracks.

They are both heavies. Tanks and hulks are heavies.
Hulks come in 2 flavors, buzz saw and flame thrower or laser gun and rocket pod, both have the same weak points, in the back or visor.
the heavies can also just spawn with a giant laser cannon or rocket launcher, its 3 variants of the same enemy. if you aim REALLY GOOD there's weapons you can use to hit the red visor slit on the front enough time to kill it, railgun/autocannon/am rifle etc. you can also shoot the arms off and break its legs but you need heavy armor AP weapons for that. heatsink weakpoint on the back needs medium armor pen I think? they get flinched by a slugger shot to the back so its actually pretty easy to kill them with that if they're chasing after someone else.

Its not the same kind of game as EDF, I dont know why people keep making this comparison. Its as similar to EDF as Killing Floor is to CoD Zombies, they are just not the same kind of game just because there are lots of enemies.
Its fun but I would wait for a sale if you dont know what HD is going for, not because the game is bad but because they are still adding content and balancing.
Whatever works, hope you have fun. Youll probably not unlock anything meaningful to use in the 2 hours though, if youre going to do that try and play on harder difficulties because low diff does not spawn very many enmies. Between 5 and 7 is the sweet spot for fun.
Get the EATs and MG and a supply pack, last strategem is player's choice.
Be your squad's support gunner for trash/fodder since you won't have much big dicc options for armor. Keep the boys with big dicc weapons topped off. Drop the clutch EATs (only support weapon so far with sub-2 minute cooldown) to take out armor when everyone's out of their anti-armor options.
It's so much fricknig fun and I can't wait for the heavy machine gun to drop to do it in Diff 8.
This is my build but I am going to change supply pack for mechs. Last strat is my main weapon of course. The freedom ringing GL. I keep the MG in reserve incase I die and my GL is on cooldown or a teammate needs a primary. EAT is on such a low cooldown you can typically just hurl it on the next objective so its ready and waiting for the heavies. GL kills trash like no other and is great for closing bug holes.

I've started using it for bugs and I like it. Flamethrower also felt fricking good as fuark picking it up off a dead diver while getting chased by bugs and letting them all get a taste of spicy democracy.
instead of generic "classes" you have 4 statagems to choose before every mission. These include >support weapon or backpack >Orbital/Eagle Strike (aka your super attack) >Sentry that covers your defenses
It's better than having a game balanced around everybody having the perfect ratio in classes. Because that never works in any game.
Now it's still new so the balance for weapons is still off. there's a few guns that desperately need buffs because nobody uses them. Some needed nerfs.
But overall this is better than having shit arbitrarily gated off because this and that aren't "your class". Everyone can throw nukes, purge xenos in flames or go vietnam with a MG

It's like the difference between Dark Souls and something like Lords of the Fallen or something. There's a lot about them similar, but they both play very differently. Think of it as you always play as a base health Ranger but with Air Raider options.
Would really recommend getting it on sale, tbh. Like it's fun with friends and shit, but it's not really worth $40 at the moment, just not a lot of content.

You only have access to very limited equipment when you start, you unlock more stuff as you play so don't worry about it >What difficulty level do I start playing at?
You have no choice but to work your way up from difficulty 1, higher modes are locked until you complete an operation in your current highest one
The punisher shotgun you unlock pretty early and it recently got buffed with more ammo and damage.
When you reach about difficulty 4 consider purchasing the expendable anti tank stratagem. It allows you to call in 2 single use AT rockets on a very short cooldown. Bots at lower levels are harder than bugs imo so make sure you bring things that can penetrate armor. The anti material rifle and autocannon both work against medium armor bots.
If you have a friend in voip try out the recoilless rifle and have him hold your ammo bag.

Yeah it's great when you have a teammate to distract them so you don't have to get in range of the flamethrower version. Flanking bots actually makes a bunch of their strengths easy to overcome.
Slugger can also stunlock hulks if you hit them in the rear weakpoint.

If a mob summoned a dropship or bug breach + you're done with an objective and have nor reason to stay in the area + there's a patrol walking up to you, then there's objectively no reason for you to sit still and wait to get overrun when you have an escape route. if you have enemy artillary on your locaation no shit you have to keep sprinting, you're storming the beaches of normandy.
You're not an armored battalion, you're penetrating behind enemy lines. Stealth is an important part of Helldviers that people ignore. You can't fight every enemy you see.

I played on helldive before and after the patch and it's just less fun now
The railgun nerf doesn't bother me too much but the armor nerf paired with insane enemy spawns turned every missions into dash to objective -> throw all your stratagems -> pray the area is clear long enough to complete the objective -> dash to next objective
I also enjoy a good hard mode but having a game like this and not being able to fight back at all because everything kills you in one hit is moronic. It feels like the game is missing its own point

Anon, they obviously did testing, because pre-patch mechs that cheaters spawned appeared to be better. They did prior testing and decided they were not bad enough, and nerfed them.

I'm really not surprised by the performance of the mech. In a game where enemies shit out obscene amounts of damage and can get on top of you quickly, your best defence is always going to be getting the frick out of the way. Same principle in EDF which made the only mechs worth taking in that game the ones that had a good leap so you could hippity hop out of the danger zone, and most of the big slow stuff that didnt have a brazillion health like the battle barga was meme garbage because the most basic enemies on inferno could melt them in seconds.

“Kiting” is barely a thing, it’s called managing the enemies aggro and is an integral part of the game. Drawing fire so your teammate can get the objective is a legitimate tactical maneuver. Before the patch it was boring, now there’s enough enemies to where you can’t just run in circles, you have to fight through shit while shit is chasing you.

I'd say autocannon is decent, but I am not sure how are you supposed to fit a reloading backpack in your loadout when energy shield is now a mandatory pick because of moronic armor neffs, increased spewer spawns and all enemies doing critical hits that deal double damage at like 30% chance.
and now, unsafe mode still has armor penetration nerfs to it, dumbass, but nobody cares about railgun, they fricked the game spawns, the credits, the servers, they fricked everything

first charge needs to be a 100% and it stays "spooled" for a while after that, when its like this you can fire it off at 60% ish charge for a bit less damage, there's a sound queue you can listen for to know when a shot can be fired

Each mech comes with 14 rockets, and 1000 rounds for the mini gun, the minigun is akin to a slug shotgun so it will penetrate medium armor, and go through things. LEARN TO BURST FIRE WITH IT.
Its great against bugs, sucks against bots.
you get 2 charges, 600 second cooldown. So dont be a tard and drop them at the start, Drop it when you are about to hit a lot of nests/big nests /the fight is starting to turn to shit. You will need support.
In mech you should be focusing on chargers, rocket their leg and gun it down. Same goes for biles. After that prioritize medium threats, hunters will just have you wasting ammo.

Honestly this is worse than the guys who would run non-stop in Left4Dead coop campaigns where the front guy kept spawning enemies and having them peel onto his teammates behind him.
It's not even fun doing that type of gameplay. Left4Dead was fun staying together with your team and clearing as you go. It's straight up griefing at that point and it's now a common thing to do in hell divers.

I tried that and the most pro epic gamer of the group kept doing the 24/7 running shit. I told them to stop abandoning the team and even showed him that we can quickly clear bug breaches but they refused to listen.
If I fricking see someone sprinting away from me during massive mob aggro I will peel all the mobs onto them and purposefully not shoot the mobs or help them while just observing them. Game became incredibly unfun with the constant abandonment. It's not even me who is spawning the bug breaches.

Helldivers 1 Diff 8-9 was all about stealth and deleting a patrol before it could react. In HD1, if enemies are alerted and spawning in, you're running away or dying pointlessly with hardly ever any middle ground.

With bug patrols they won't call in bug breaches until they're 6 ft away from you if you remain crouch/prone and still. Not sure if it's a bug with the stealth system or intended.
But this never works in lobbies because players love jogging so damn much.

Maybe if you could reasonably prevent bug breaches, but I've literally had a Black person call in reinforcements after I shot his head off, since bugs still live for like 4 seconds.

In HD1 you had an isometric view to see if teammates were abandoning and running away. Also they were literally blocked from running away because they have to stay in isometric view of the rest of the players where you would run into an invisible wall if you got too far away. This provides incentive to stop players for constantly running and actually shoot back once they hit the edge of the screen.

Can't tell if you're joking or not. The slugger is fricking great and I use it 90% of the time now that it has more ammo. It's biggest weakness is hordes because of the pump-action fire rate, but it one-shots all unarmored enemies, can kill every bot in one shot except for hulks and tank (and can stunlock hulks from behind), and can kill every bug except for bile titans. Bring the machine pistol and use it if you're getting swarmed, otherwise just pop heads from medium range.
Don't let the memes fool you. It's still only light armor penetrating just like almost every normal gun

My patience is just about out. Which is fine for them really, I already played beyond the point I can refund. But with the new login issues and the CONSTANT crashes the game is quickly becoming not even worth the effort to play.
It'd be one thing if the crashes were being worked on, but if anything they're getting WORSE with every minor change on their end. A friend I play with literally crashes 10+ times per mission, with the game literally BSODing his entire PC once, where I'm "lucky" enough to "only" crash at LEAST twice per mission.
I hit this point last week. Whenever I think about how fun it is when it actually runs I'm instantly reminded of the servers.
I found using exclusive fullscreen and turning off any overlays (afterburner+rivia) reduces the crashing some if you haven't tried it.

I'm running heavy armor in Helldive, it's very useful. You're not going to be going sanic fast in every situation. Sometimes you'll be bogged down or swarmed and that extra padding gives you 3x more health than light armor

extra stim armor is better because the regen offsets the damage and makes stamina recharge
I always carry a Supply pack anyway so the 2+ stims aren't necessary when I'm just resupplying myself on the go. there's a lot of bullshit in 7+ that insta kill you and being able to tank a rocket is important.

yes, it's an instant kill for any other armor, the heavy armor now does what it's supposed to. I can't give specifics but I know it's significant. if a rocket explodes near you then it only takes a small bite of health, if it's a direct attack then you will survive granted you aren't being peppered continually and can health immedietely.
I haven't tried it with a shield backpack but I know you'll be genuinely tanky with this strategy.

The railgun is still better than the anti-material sniper. It's basically a sniper and has its situational usefulness.
Noone is using anything with "situation usefulness" when you have to pick a limited set of things to bring before the mission even starts. People just kick you if you aren't running meta at high level.
I never had that problem, I enjoy creating gimmicky setups that are fun.
2 setups:

It's pretty fun solo and with randos, but obviously for tackling tough missions and consistent fun, friends are best.
It is enjoyable just doing quick play. But its very buggy and I get constant crashes personally.
Here's how I think they should fix bugs.
Crank the enemy density up to 12.
remove chargers and bile titans from the small hole breach (have bile titans patrol instead and aggro if they see firefights from a distance not full aggro) and give chargers a unique spawn animation that when 2 or 3 smaller enemies are calling at once it causes bigger breach.
I feel like bugs should be more about getting overwhelmed by tons of enemies than having armored units stop the gameplay in its tracks.
Devs said they want to go that path and they will lower elite spawn but increase trash mob count, can't wait to be killed by 20 hunters
yeah I feel like bugs are too easy when they spawn in, you could drop a napalm or 500kg bomb and kill them all, there should be like 3 breaches going on at once but less big guys basically.

They are both heavies. Tanks and hulks are heavies.
Hulks come in 2 flavors, buzz saw and flame thrower or laser gun and rocket pod, both have the same weak points, in the back or visor.
the heavies can also just spawn with a giant laser cannon or rocket launcher, its 3 variants of the same enemy. if you aim REALLY GOOD there's weapons you can use to hit the red visor slit on the front enough time to kill it, railgun/autocannon/am rifle etc. you can also shoot the arms off and break its legs but you need heavy armor AP weapons for that. heatsink weakpoint on the back needs medium armor pen I think? they get flinched by a slugger shot to the back so its actually pretty easy to kill them with that if they're chasing after someone else.
Shoot them in the little visor slit with the Railgun/autocannon/Anti material rifle/laser cannon/rockets.
They also are weak to small arms fire to their glowing backpack

Whatever works, hope you have fun. Youll probably not unlock anything meaningful to use in the 2 hours though, if youre going to do that try and play on harder difficulties because low diff does not spawn very many enmies. Between 5 and 7 is the sweet spot for fun.
Get the EATs and MG and a supply pack, last strategem is player's choice.
Be your squad's support gunner for trash/fodder since you won't have much big dicc options for armor. Keep the boys with big dicc weapons topped off. Drop the clutch EATs (only support weapon so far with sub-2 minute cooldown) to take out armor when everyone's out of their anti-armor options.
It's so much fricknig fun and I can't wait for the heavy machine gun to drop to do it in Diff 8.
This is my build but I am going to change supply pack for mechs. Last strat is my main weapon of course. The freedom ringing GL. I keep the MG in reserve incase I die and my GL is on cooldown or a teammate needs a primary. EAT is on such a low cooldown you can typically just hurl it on the next objective so its ready and waiting for the heavies. GL kills trash like no other and is great for closing bug holes.

I've started using it for bugs and I like it. Flamethrower also felt fricking good as fuark picking it up off a dead diver while getting chased by bugs and letting them all get a taste of spicy democracy.
They just buffed it. It used to be SHIT
instead of generic "classes" you have 4 statagems to choose before every mission. These include

>Orbital/Eagle Strike (aka your super attack)
>Sentry that covers your defenses
It's better than having a game balanced around everybody having the perfect ratio in classes. Because that never works in any game.
Now it's still new so the balance for weapons is still off. there's a few guns that desperately need buffs because nobody uses them. Some needed nerfs.
But overall this is better than having shit arbitrarily gated off because this and that aren't "your class". Everyone can throw nukes, purge xenos in flames or go vietnam with a MG

Difficulty 6 is the only difficulty you should be playing on anyway once you get all your super samples.

You only have access to very limited equipment when you start, you unlock more stuff as you play so don't worry about it

You have no choice but to work your way up from difficulty 1, higher modes are locked until you complete an operation in your current highest one
The punisher shotgun you unlock pretty early and it recently got buffed with more ammo and damage.
When you reach about difficulty 4 consider purchasing the expendable anti tank stratagem. It allows you to call in 2 single use AT rockets on a very short cooldown. Bots at lower levels are harder than bugs imo so make sure you bring things that can penetrate armor. The anti material rifle and autocannon both work against medium armor bots.
If you have a friend in voip try out the recoilless rifle and have him hold your ammo bag.
I've destroyed Hulks before by magdumping their weakspot in the back with the starting Liberator.
Yeah it's great when you have a teammate to distract them so you don't have to get in range of the flamethrower version. Flanking bots actually makes a bunch of their strengths easy to overcome.
Slugger can also stunlock hulks if you hit them in the rear weakpoint.

You're not an armored battalion, you're penetrating behind enemy lines. Stealth is an important part of Helldviers that people ignore. You can't fight every enemy you see.

I played on helldive before and after the patch and it's just less fun now
The railgun nerf doesn't bother me too much but the armor nerf paired with insane enemy spawns turned every missions into dash to objective -> throw all your stratagems -> pray the area is clear long enough to complete the objective -> dash to next objective
I also enjoy a good hard mode but having a game like this and not being able to fight back at all because everything kills you in one hit is moronic. It feels like the game is missing its own point

I'm really not surprised by the performance of the mech. In a game where enemies shit out obscene amounts of damage and can get on top of you quickly, your best defence is always going to be getting the frick out of the way. Same principle in EDF which made the only mechs worth taking in that game the ones that had a good leap so you could hippity hop out of the danger zone, and most of the big slow stuff that didnt have a brazillion health like the battle barga was meme garbage because the most basic enemies on inferno could melt them in seconds.

The servers are fricked, you can play but you get no rewards for completing missions and picking up account items mid mission(samples, req slips, sc)causes you to freeze in place.
Need a hand. I was using a bluetooth mic through TV and it worked just fine but the mic wouldn't fricking if I did it that way. Got a bluetooth thumb drive today. It connects. The mic works. It works on any other audio. Yet the moment I boot up I got nothing but silence. I know it didn't disconnect because I can see my mic indicator lighting up. When I close out I can immediately load up at audio and it functions. Any clues?

“Kiting” is barely a thing, it’s called managing the enemies aggro and is an integral part of the game. Drawing fire so your teammate can get the objective is a legitimate tactical maneuver. Before the patch it was boring, now there’s enough enemies to where you can’t just run in circles, you have to fight through shit while shit is chasing you.
