It very recently got a significant buff.
Laser dog is great (though tends to sweep teammates and can pick unfortunate targets with you/teammates in the way), the laser cannon itself is great against everything except chargers/bile titans. So it can feel bad if you can't count on your teammate to soften those targets for you to finish, and that's the problem most people encounter. Either bad teammates or just plain hectic situations where everyone is scattered and you're stuck solo against two chargers.
All of these problems are easily solved by one person dropping EATs like candy though (which can be you if you don't mind losing another stratagem slot to a support weapon), just kite to the drop, grab an EAT for 3 seconds to soften the target, then back to your laser to wrap it up.

It's really good if you can aim worth a damn, but the reload time is rough. Kinda bad vs bugs though, there's just too many for 6 shots to be worth it. Also the Redeemer is better in every way. But sidearms are supposed to be a backup anyway so I still take revolver on every mission for cool factor.

The 10 minute cooldown kind of limits them to the most extreme of situations since you can get 1 or 2 a mission, I haven't really given them a fair enough try at assaulting stuff with no support though. If they can manage an objective alone I'd probably call them worth a slot for a roamer. As is the only real use I've gotten out of them is being an AC + minigun sentry that won't accidentally kill teammates.
They added one and it's pretty neat. It fricks up the bugs and can be good against bots if you are careful. The bots have a lot of anti-tank weapons built into their arsenal that frick the mechs up so it can be a short-lived experience spending on what situations you get yourself into.
They have their niche. It was a good move making them so the shitters can be filtered by them. Once the free period goes away the only people using them will be the ones who use as point defense for bugs as intended.

i've really been giving these homies a free pass for the longest time because i really like the game but the amount of issues i've had with it is ridiculous.
I spent way too many hours on Sunday experimenting with the game to see what causes the issues. It is a very long list of weird shit, ranging from the CPU affinity settings on task manager, the planet you are at, whether cross-play is enabled or not and so on. Even the FPS limiter can reduce performance. And god knows how many other quirks are way too obscure for me to find.
I can't even begin to imagine what the spaghetti code looks like, and it is hard to believe that these amateur developers are good enough to put the fire out.
Worse part are the fanboys that that say it werks on my machine whenever you mention that the game is putting extra load for no reason other than to combat cheaters that already littered the game.

yeah when things are hectic the speed and accuracy of the breaker is too valuable.
The slugger can punch through medium armor and stagger lock enemies like devastators, hive guard, and brood commanders. Its got a much longer effective range than the breaker. Your aim sways pretty violently in a vertical line every time you shoot so it can be hard to target the same spot on a single enemy multiple times. It gets aim -wise iffy for clearing out scavenger variants so I just switch to my secondary to shoot those. Overall I prefer it for busting through armor especially on dangerous medium enemies like devastators and acid spitters.
