bravo, mustards. you rolled over and accepted china riot's kernel level anti-cheat, so now it's becoming industry standard. want to play a game on PC? accept that you're giving unfettered access to your system to anyone that can publish a game with NO way of knowing how that access is actually used. "we promise not to do anything bad" is literally all you get
>nProtect
it's like I'm back in the early 2000's playing Gunbound again
This game is directly connect playstation/sony and automatically disqualifies from ever being purchased by me.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
I do not like.
I do not want.
You're disgusting snoyslop on my fricking platform.
Take your shitty games back.
Please. I'm begging you. Frick off forever snoy. Take your games with you. Begone! You'll never get a dime from me.
>Is GameGuard a kernel-level / administrator-privilege anti-cheat?
>Yes,
Glad we cleared that up, it's not touching my system. Nobody needs root access to my personal effects.
>anon discounts things out of hand because of who funded them
>probably applies this asinine childish mindset retroactively too
>uses meme parlance like slop so obviously he's an election tourist, meaning he b***hes about trannies every day
Do you see the irony in the way you act? You're a troony at heart, you fricking idiot.
I don't give singular frick what you think.
Sony doesn't make games. They fund propaganda wrapped in a shitty game. Never ever getting a single dime from me, no exceptions. If I were president. Sony's company and all sony products would be entirely banned in my country. Expelled. Gone. Forever.
Now to play your shitty spiderman games. The fridge ain't gonna lift itself you dog.

>You're
Sorry but I can't read the rest of your post. Shame too, because I liked the direction it was going in.
The reddit *teleports behind u* emphasis spacing is okay though?
Nice, another snoyslop garbage I'll never install on my pc
FPBP
disgusting practice
isn't this a pve coop game
why does that need anticheat?
ummm sweetie too many questions why do you care don't you hate cheaters??? take your meds
probably because they want to introduce mxt, season pass, ranked matchmaking, all that bullshit.
Enjoy your GAAS
The first game had a strategic layer that actions of all players affected. Pushing back the enemy or letting super earth fall. I assume they are using anticheat for that reason. Despite the global war being something no one cares about.
>he thinks it's actually anti-cheat
It's to combat modding of any kind, not just "cheating". They don't want you changing anything about the software, adding or replacing assets or unlocking deprecated or experimental features, and they'll lock down your machine to make sure you can't do it.
Crapcom had a board meeting about how mods cause damage to franchises, and apparently so did everyone else. You can bet it's the same ~~*people*~~ behind it all.
Anti-modder corpos disgust me. The biggest names in gaming started out as mods. So "damaging the franchise" translates to "someone else made DOTA and make billions instead of us".
>It's to combat modding of any kind, not just "cheating". They don't want you changing anything about the software, adding or replacing assets or unlocking deprecated or experimental features, and they'll lock down your machine to make sure you can't do it.
Very likely this is the case. If the user is able to twist the game in a way that extracts more fun without paying another dime that is considered theft in their eyes. The moment another product in their lineup comes down the pipe they want a surefire way to wipe out the previous game to stop any sales cannibalization.
Darktide did the same shit and they pretty much outright stated its just to prevent you from cheating in the cash shop cosmetics.
It has nothing to do with “protecting” you from cheaters, they just happily frick you over so they can make slightly more money off of mtx.
lmao snoy rootkits are back
>"Yes, it is in fact a rootkit."
Y'know, for the Player$!
Everyone was so worried about Xbox monopolizing the market, but then Sony doublebacked to the time when they tried to install malware on their customer's PCs and get away with it. What a strange little company they are.
MS doesn't need any of that shit since they already have Windows. Sony, since they don't have a place in the PC market, needs to do this.
>lmao snoy rootkits are back
denuvo never left
Denuvo is executable obfuscation, it doesn't install any process monitoring software.
It doesn't frick with the kernel, either.
>he doesn't know about denuvo's other tools
It will fix itself cuz this trash will bomb
Frick Snoy though
>rootkit anticheat
>in a pve game
why are they so FRICKING STUPID HOLY SHIT
>sony rootkit
two words that ensure HD2 will never touch my PC
Wait what the actual frick why? Isnt this game pve only? Why invasive anti cheat? Also i like how he openly calls it rootkit at least hes honest but it also shows that people will eat any shit nowadays.
and why does a helldivers sequel need 100GB of space? the frick did they do to this game?
probably to protect their planned 999+ microtransactions
I still want it
>yup, it's a rootkit
>--dev
how moronic do you have to be to outright state this
I mean they're stupid enough to have an anti-cheat in a PvE game.
because ESEA and Valorant both use it to combat cheaters and it works significantly better than other solutions.
fantastic, frick cheaterswkn8
>Zoomers normalized kernel level anti-cheat with valorant and LoL
>This is now the industry standard
LMAO! Frick zoomers WW3 needs to happen sooner rather than later.
Gameguard has been around for eons and nobody has ever done anything malicious with it
why is helldivers using a korean anti cheat?
gee I wonder what happened the last time Sony was putting rootkits with kernel-level access on people's systems
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_copy_protection_rootkit_scandal
>most effective ways to combat cheating
>cheaters in day 1 beta
Shame, I was actually kinda excited to play this game. Also why the frick do you need an anti-cheat in a PvE game? If someone's cheating and griefing you just leave and start a new mission. Fricking clowns.
If you control group policy/Intune for your organization, be sure to shitlist all kernel-mode anticheat drivers.
People widely being unable to play video games on their work computers will cause a backlash, and if that backlash is towards IT, no CEO/CTO on earth is going to side with running video games on corporate equipment.
My rationale is that it's a security risk. Even if the game isn't installed, a threat actor can load any signed kernel modules, and then exploit vulnerabilities in them.
>anticheat for a fricking pve coop game
can't have people cheating in those dlc items
Damn, really? Can't they at least make it so you can actually play Helldivers 1 singleplayer?
>Cheating
>In a PvE game
Im out
>nProtect in 2024
Did no one ever play any KMMO in the last 20 years?
Segas MMO in 2024 also uses Gameguard
Watching this makes me incredibly angry for some reason.
Bob would've had none of that. Drew probably gets a kick from it seeing how he was once the "improv comedy" guy.
Helldivers 1 is a shit game
DRG and EDF are far better bug-squashing with the bros simulators
That's a shame, I liked the first one. Already skipped the new Tribes game since its anti-cheat won't run if you have driver signing disabled, so I'm likely going to skip this one too.
Why are there so many homosexuals that act like cheating doesn't run rampant in PVE games?
Not my problem. Theres no cheating problem when I play with my friends.
why are you pretending like anyone cheating pve is a problem? who cares.
I care. I have to deal with cheating homosexuals all the time.
vote to kick. Its a feature designed over 20 years ago.
A grossly neglected one. 9 times out of 10 if you aren't the host you aren't kicking anyone.
>well then always host lol
How about cheating homosexuals get fricked so I don't have to go out of my way to ensure a good experience?
literally complaining about something that rarely happens, people dont cheat in pve games tard. Shill harder
>people dont cheat in pve games
Yes they do. All the fricking time. I can't count how many times I've had to quit mid-mission in EDF because some homosexual has infinite health/ammo/energy.
>Playing PVE game with pubs
But why
nofriends
pls unnastan
very autism
also trans uwu
who the frick has 3 whole friends to play video games with? Most people solo queue
Just kick them then or make your lobby private. There's dozens of ways to get a squad made before starting your game.
Shit just make a thread on Ganker and post your lobby and I bet people would join.
>just inconvenience yourself because of some moronic homosexuals
No, I'd rather not do extra work because of some cheating homosexuals.
a man who sacrifices safety or sovereignty for convenience deserves none of them.
eat a turd u buttburgl
>>just inconvenience yourself because of some moronic homosexuals
That's exactly what the developers are doing now. I don't want to have to jump through their hoops just to play the game legitimately with friends of mine who also play legitimately just because people I don't even play with, might potentially cheat in a co-op game.
Good news, you don't have to do anything extra.
If it's anything like this
I'd have to dual boot just to play their game. That's inconvenient and unnecessary.
The game has day 1 crossplay with the ps5. Im not surprised this was required. I don't like this crap in my games, but it rarely affects anything.
>I don't want to inconvenience myself
>literally wants corporations to have unlimited access to all of his personal information
you deserve what you get
Missed the point moron.
Enlighten me
People cheat in PVE games all the time.
Games have other ways to deal with cheaters all the time.
One of those being anti-cheat. You can say that they're going to far all you want, but to claim that no one ever cheats in PVE games is absurd.
>I can't trust people to not cheat in a pve game
>the existing ways to stop this require extra button presses and that's too much to expect
>therefore the solution is to give total control over to a faceless corporation
You're a fricking Black person moron and deserve everything bad that ever happens to you.
This. I played deep rock galactic for years and never had an issue with cheaters despite how popular the game was. And even if there were cheaters I would have just kicked them out of my lobby.
It's a 4 player coop game, just let people make their own lobby and kick troublemakers, it's not that hard.
Looks like SecuROMs back on the menu, boys.
why does a coop shooter require a rootkit anticheat?
Does EDF have rootkit anticheat? No. So I will stick to that.
If a dev cares about cheating in their coop game, it's a very, very, very, very bad sign of where priorities lie.
>even thinking of buying it after it was revealed to be over the shoulder slop
yikes
another failure from Sony game ? everyone expects that.
it's not even PVP why would they need anticheat
That's a good thing, and I wish more games would do this. Imagine how much better the more hardcore games like Escape from Tarkov would be if they actually started taking harsher measures against cheaters like this. If you store any of your important information on your gaming PC then you're a complete fricking idiot in the first place.
>hate cheater homosexuals
>hate corporations and they're attempts to rootkit people
cleanbros, we lost
>saw the news on reddit
>moron redditors are already defending this shit
how are normies so whipped
Isn't Helldivers a PVE game?
Why the frick does it need an anticheat at all
Based. If you play a online game with the others. You do NOT have the right to be a cheater ruined others games. Every game should bring this anticheat prevent all the cheaters.
Damn, I was actually looking forward to it too.
Shit like this is why I’ll spam snoy threads and bump famitsu threads for 200 more years, I want this board 100% misery for snoys to browse
Isn't there literally dozens of popular online games with anti-cheat like this, like Fortnite and Fall Guys, and you guys make a big stink out of it every time and then literally nothing happens? Still, nothing has happened.
I have played pve games since like 2008 and I have never once ran into a cheater
if anything the biggest problem are morons and people purposefully throwing
I have no idea why "cheating" suddenly became a problem in coop games but holy shit this must be a shill tactic to get chinese spyware on my computer
as hard as this suddenly popped up it feels like one of those boardroom memes that the fricking empty suits at the top picked up on, like the moronation that spawned those
>YOU WOULDNT DOWNLOAD A CAR!
type shits.
like, "AMAGERB CHEATING IS DAMAGING THE BRAND" is the new NFT/BlOcKcHaInZ/etc spergout by corporate.
You almost certainly did but were too stupid to realize it.
Is there anyone that actually cares about cheaters in a pve game?
>china
he says everyone does the same thing
So much complaining from people who were never going to buy in the first place. Yeah it sucks, but this has been pc gaming since 2015. We can complain if it truly does impact performance or stay active after we shut the game off. For now though crying and saying things like "Nice, another snoyslop garbage I'll never install on my pc" is stupid. I got it on fanatical for 29$ and I just hope it's fun.
>it's CURRENT YEAR chuds
>you're only allowed to complain if it goes past the rectum
>NOT if it only penetrates an inch
get fricked shoelicking homosexual
Frick off gay. I didn't say "current year" I said you homosexuals are just complaining about everything. The enigma crap didn't mess with my resident evil or monster hunter performance. Denuvo hasn't ruined any games for me. And I doubt this crap will affect helldivers. Modern pc gamers are just a bunch of whiny homosexuals now.
>it's only a kernel level botnet, nobody should complain
Were you born that way or did you just recently assume the mantle of the king of morons?
You're just looking for outrage. You don't buy or care about games. It's the same crap from you people. You can complain if it causes harm or hurts game performance. As is though you are just complaining and fighting online over something that was never going to affect you because you don't buy games. I've been a pc gamer since the early 2000s and now a days there's so much b***hing over nothing.
>games use Starforce-tier chink botnets for "anticheat" when they don't even need them
>UR JUST FARMING OUTRAGE ABLOO BLOO BLOO
Go suck a israelite, you're not gonna get rich shitposting here.
Cry some more homosexual. I buy and play my games, and I'll have fun with these releases. I'll look forward to helldivers, tekken and dragons dogma while you're still b***hing about denuvo and other crap on Ganker.
>it's not a problem for me so why is it a problem for you?
Doesn't work for me.
Then go play your amazing chink botnet trash you dogshit-leather chewing mongoloid.
Some thought Ganker couldn't get any worse, but then you showed up and shilled your gutter oil and anal discharge flavored hot pockets like they're pure "good" normalhomosexualry.
Motherfricking cancer incarnate, get your subhuman insectoid ass off my board.
You have no idea what a botnet is. Yes this anticheat sucks but you are an overly emotional homosexual and thus all your posts should be ignored.
Don't be so confident this isn't a botnet until you audit it yourself.
You caught me. I don't buy games and just post on Ganker to complain.
Trusting game developers to install kernel-level software is insane. They can't even make their games bug free and now you're letting them graft on a piece of software into your system that has the highest level of access. It doesn't even matter if you trust the developers themselves to not do anything intentionally malicious, it's a vector for other software to exploit.
>while you play we're replacing your front door with a new one that has a faulty lock
>we'll put it back when you quit so it's no big deal
>just hope nobody enters during that time frame
It's a stability concern too. Buggy kernel services can do any kind of frickery. Considering it's all extra too it's just one more point of failure.
>Oopsie whoopsie the anti-cheat service had a frickey-wucky and can't update 🙁
>Hope you didn't want to play today! Just reinstall your OS or something idk 🙂
>not our problem, we make games
>Buying sonyslop
lmao just blacklist anything that comes from them
Just lost five sales from my group.
A fricking Sw*de
Why the frick do they insist on doing this shit when Valorant proved this shit doesn't fricking work and Genshit proved cheat developers will use this shit as an attack vector
Just play palworld
The funny thing is cheat on game that uses gameguard. It's useless. I have no programming knowledge.
>give players the ability to host servers themselves
>let them moderate it and share blacklists
vs
>hope the anti-cheat actually works when the cat and mouse game typically doesn't in most games
>don't give the players any way to deal with cheaters themselves if they encounter one
https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/19dp2qw/comment/kj85zl6/
tl;dr: A developer says: THIS NPROTECT ISN'T A ROOTKIT KEYLOGGER THAT RUNS WHEN THE GAME'S CLOSED THAT YOU CAN'T UNINSTALL—JUST TRUST US GUYS!
>Snoy
>pozzed
>100+GB size
Already set it on ignore months ago.
They must have added a gacha/online casino system for weapon, or gear acquisition, in general. They try to prolong people playing the game artificially through an insane grind, just like Darktide did.
I kind of hated helldivers 1. Way too easy for one gay to ruin everyrhing, even on accident
I think that's the point of the game, kinda like Magicka
if everyone is on their shit you can beat anything but it only takes one mistake to kill the party
Yeah just not my thing I guess. I enjoyed magicka though. Oh well, I still have EDF (6 cant come soon enough)
homosexuals willing to put up with this have done irreversible damage
These moronic Swedes were responsible for Magicka. Just like that game, they can be both geniuses and utter morons at once.
I played the shit out of the first game. I want this game to be good but this is just one reason to not buy it day one. I think I'll wait for a review and see how it plays out because they dont even have vehicles either.
Your pic reminded me that the MCC anti-cheat doesn't seem to work when the game is on a case-sensitive file system. So in order to run it I have to clear hundreds of gigabytes off my NVME and copy it over, instead of running it from my multi-TB NAS.
Very annoying.
I hate online cheatBlack folk so much I almost dont care.
Every cheatBlack person is scum of the earth and deserves death. You might think "lol its just a video game who cares", but cheaters have a rot that goes to the very soul, the type of person who just wants to see everyone around them suffer
Damn, that sucks. I was all hyped for HD2.
I didn't even know anything about this game
but no game exists that can make me install that shit, homie
All anticheats are kernel level. They have to be in order to function.
Guess I'll be skipping this until they cave and remove it.
gameguard really takes me back, and i mean really far back. every mmo had it from ragnarok to lineage, that shit was everywhere. and here is the kicker, it never fricking worked.
also wasn't there a scandal where one of those mmo rootkit programs had a back door in it? just not sure if that was gameguard, there were many companies running this grift back then
Everything has a backdoor. The fight for privacy was lost years ago so b***hing about it now is childish.
not b***hing about anything, just mentioned it never worked and was easily bypassed, the only way for it to work is for it to run since boot like vanguard. anything else is just a burden placed on the product that is nothing but a smoke screen to claim you are doing something.
I was talking about the thread as a whole.
defeatist
