What the frick went wrong here? This looks like a huge flop in the making.

Oh yeah, it will also have rootkit anti-cheat (nProtect Game Guard) even though the first had nothing
jheesuz. what investor bullshit causes any dev team to think this is a good idea?
P@lwor1d took any momentum away
Like many indie sequels, the talent and vision of the original devs is completely diluted in the pool of new hires and investors who haven't the faintest knowledge of the original property.
I felt 1 was pretty fun, but it was a little too restrictive in terms of loadouts for each mission. That sound right, or was I just shit at it?
just shit at it
on difficulties 1-12, basically everything is viable, running wild loadouts is half the reason I still come back to the game
Figures. Would've put more time into it if my friends didn't all dump it after we finished the missions on the default difficulty.
I don't even know what you're talking about, the game has no "default" difficulty.
Also same, my friends dropped it right quick too, but unlike all other games, the shared camera gives playing with randoms a unique feel.
There will be shitters, but it's fun even with randoms, and if you're hosting you can just kick trolls/cheaters.
It's a straightforward game, you play it, you get better at it, you eventually start dominating everything.
Man it's been like 10 fricking years, pardon me if I haven't memorized the fricking UI.
>It's a straightforward game, you play it, you get better at it, you eventually start dominating everything.
Yeah, it's a good feeling. Got that with Vermintide 2.
You are 1000% right on high difficulties. When a cyborg mission is swarming with tanks and armored warlords - you simply won't have enough ammo for them all if you decide to use the anti-tank mech for example, even if you fill all 4 of your stratagem slots with them. You'll HAVE to use redeployables or a Rumbler with a supply drop.
>Spyware DRM
>Forced PlayStation Account
>Female community manager
>PS account
For what purpose, for what fricking benefit
Sony made demands for crossplay access, and possibly gave them some money, that's all there is to that gay 3rd party bullshit.
>Female community manager
Absolutely dogshit
>implementing anti-cheat in a co-op game
Why do devs keep falling into this trap? Do they really want to preserve the leaderboards and campaigns that badly?
On one hand I despise their decision to add invasive anti cheat.
On the other, the first game, for the longest period, had an absolute infestation of cheaters.
People would frick up your save file by "finding" infinite samples for the whole team, and other shit like that, they had to implement reset options due to that.
As long as the monkey paw moments are kept outside the game like with psn/anti cheat here, I'm happy, just want a good game in a sea of slop.
Will definitely wait a while hoping they remove it tho.
>join a MHW hunt
> instant kill target with cheat engine
WY U MAD ITS JUST A COOP GAME
fricking moron
This is very different from
Either getting 1 hunts worth of loot, or being sent back 1 hunt is completely different from being sent to the 'end' of progression, or else restarting progression from the start.
This stuff is silly though. It's always online now. They can impose sanity checks for this kind of thing. Hitting us with a dated rootkit will solve nothing but it will introduce more problems.
first one is a goofy coop game about shooting each other
2 is going to be a live service game because sony owns the IP and thats how they want it to be
>Forced PlayStation Account
Ah damn, I didn't notice that. Whelp, into the trash it goes.
yeah, not getting a game with that rootkit
What in tarnation
Gotta focus on the last of us 2 remastered
Didn't they change the genre to tps or something?
>no illuminates
Anon, no one ever wanted to fight anything but bugs
They might be in the game, one of the trailers had a whole section of the galaxy map where they could be
I sorta liked illumis outside of the highest difficulties. They were exceptionally overwhelming thanks to all the bullshit teleports and offscreen oneshots, but at least their gimmicks were fun unlike cyborgs.
Every 2d or isometric game that ever went 3d suffered for it immensely. look at risk of rain 1 vs 2
Honestly, the gameplay looks like a fricking tech demo of Unreal. They didn't even try to stylize the graphics or make the gameplay look compelling, its basically just dudes running around shooting stuff in third person for 8 minutes.
morons on Ganker doomposting about games that will quite obviously be great will never stop being funny.
Just from the snippets of gameplay we've seen:
-giant, open, sandbox levels with kino atmosphere due to various extreme weather patterns
-immersive and fun recoil system where your crosshair has 2 layers, where you're aiming, and where your gun is actually pointed at the moment due to jumping from recoil or movement
-first person shooting/sniping and confirmed firefights with cyborgs
-coop mechanics are back like assisted reloads
-cool miniboss battles done better than the first game
-jetpack and possibly other mobility options which will be more fun in third person
-armor adds to your playstyle and isn't just cosmetic this time
Like yeah, don't let me stop you from pre-emptively shitting on it due to bullshit like their anti cheat rootkit, but just like Dragon's Dogma 2, it's a guaranteed hit, no stopping it.
Not sure how good it'll be but it has goty potential.
shill post
that was quick, almost like you're getting paid to do it haha!
jk I know Gankertards get off on talking shit about games, but somehow nintendo's kiddie shit always gets a pass here
I missed one point btw
-tearing off armor from enemies, an improvement over the first game's piercing mechanic
Sorry doomposters, it's gonna be a hit.
im excited for this too but the system reqs have me worried. 100GB is unacceptable for a helldivers sequel
>What the frick went wrong here?
nothing but a rootkit on a coop game.
I was pumped for it. Haven't experience such hype whiplash in decades of gaming.
American developers.
Every single inde studio that accepts money from sony makes a shitty game, im on the fence about it and after doubling down on a drm while not showing any actual gameplay of character building im basically just waiting for post launch to watch a review.
You mean... like they did with the first game?
lol
Yeah the game is basically a technology demonstrator for the DS4's sticks, so if you're itching for a twin stick shooter, few are as satisfying as Helldivers.
I think you made a mistake by dropping it just because your friends didn't want to play, but I understand them sadly, just like mine, they didn't have the patience to learn, or the appreciation for the beauty of twin stick isometric gameplay.
Yeah, possibly. Coop games are an easy sell.
>Requires a playstation account
no thank you. I'm not inflating Sony's 6 BAGGILLION PLAYERS LOGGED ON PSN LAST WEEK statistics so the analyst can jerk themselves off to shareholders.
99% of crossplay games do not require you to make xbox or psn accounts so obviously they're just being moronic.
Fingers crossed that this game turns out to be the Lost Planet 3 we never got.
The first game always looked fun to me, I wanted to get it and play with my friends but it has that ongoing campaign shit that locks you out of the game content. Plus DLC frickery. Shame about all that because it looks like a blast, but I'll never play it.
>not buying the deluxe edition once all the dlc is out and development is confirmed complete
someone didn't adapt to the modern israelitery in gaming
That didn't fix the other problem of half the game's content being completed at any given time because people always play the fun missions until the campaign is up. What a moronic system.
true, being timegated sucks, but most of the time all 3 are available, especially after the playerbase settles down again, campaigns will be failing left and right and all 3 enemy types will always be on.
they seem to be doubling down on the moronation in the 2nd one, or maybe they've improved it, we'll see
ps
you can play offline mode to get a fake campaign with all the factions, good choice for a private session if you're doing local coop with friends
just how many games are you shazamBlack folk going to accidentally advertise in the next year or so
Can I still troll people by bringing two stratagems of AT mines?
Would it be wrong to feel like they're going after the destiny crowd?
No
but it is wrong of them for doing so
it's pretty jarring, this is the first i've heard of it or thought of the title since me and a friend played it back at launch for 20 hours straight and the rest of the weekend. I'm normally not a fan of topdowns but it felt like they nailed it and had a pretty iconic look to it.
Why not just Helldivers 1 but in third person (as in, keep the same style and graphics, but in Unreal Engine if they have to insist) and just add more enemies, more setpieces, objectives, more perks, stratagems and maybe expand more on the galactic campaign dynamics? Why spend precious time and money on upgraded assets fidelity when it's all about the gameplay?
Helldivers 1 looks completely serviceable even in third-person. The explosion effects looks great too. If anything they should have implemented terrain-changing features up to a certain depth from bombs if they want something novel.
Sony execs demanded it.
looks like sloptide but instead of zombi- i mean nurgle cultists it's bugs. i think where they went wrong with this game being a flop is the fact that they only showed the same recycled gameplay footy from like 6 months ago. and that there isn't any information out about the game. sure a anonymous poster can make bullet points and tell you stuff he was told from the Helldiver 2 discord but those are just words and not a Youtube video detailing what you can do in the game.
difference between this and Dong Dogma 2 is that they've been periodically releasing vidya gameplay footage every couple weeks/months. not the same footage from 8 months ago.
>Helldivers 2 sucks at launch
>takes multiple updates to fix game
>finally good right around the time Earth Defense Force 6 is out
I don't like doomposting but I'm anxious. I don't have shit to play.
I hope the game is fun and not a mtx nightmare and it still has players by the time I buy it on sale
I honestly wasn't excited since day one. The perspective shift is already shonky, and what artstyle there was seems to have been lost for what looks like generic UE assets. For it to have worked, I would want to see some EDF-tier amount of bugs/cyborgs, explosions, and armored units, and we just haven't seen that. Then I get to hear about stuff like the DRM and PS Account nonsense, and it's hard for me to really care at all.
At least the original and Alien Swarm are still replayable as frick, but damnit I wanted something new from Helldivers. Instead all there is on the horizon is that Alien Swarm ripoff that GSG is publishing
>Boy howdy, I'm sure they learned a lot from the first game and will balance the vehicles to be actually useful in the seque-
>No vehicles at all
Grim. And they're not including the most interesting race to fight either? They should've gotten rid of the fricking cyborgs instead, fricking gay garbage enemies that some c**t gave armored scouts to for some star-forsaken reason.
