help me find a gpu for starfield

since Ganker was no help, on which gpu should I spend 300$? I want to play starfield next month, and people are telling me to get a 3060 rather than a 4060, because the extra 4gb of vram are supposedly crucial for bethesda games. others are saying it's a nothingburger though.

why not get the rx 7600? equal raster performance to the 4060 at a lower cost and you get starfield for free. The extra 4gb on the 3060 might matter, but at 1080p medium (which is prob what you will be playing at with these cards) it should be fine.
Also check the used market, a 3070 or 6700XT are like 300 on ebay

Listen to this guy. You won't be using ray tracing on a RTX 4060 anyway, better to save some money and get an RX 7600.

      Anonymous

      >equal raster performance to the 4060
Lol no, it's slightly weaker and much more power hungry. Also there's no DLSS. Starfield will get a DLSS mod soon after the launch date, so yes even if AMD refuses it, you'll get to use it. For something merely $30 cheaper 7600 is a piece of shit. 4060 could use some overclocking to outgun the 7600 and 3060 ti easily.

Enjoy your 4050 piece of shit, anyone who bought a 7600 gets Starfield for free.

      >3070
I own a 3070 and I want to sell it as soon as the new ones come out, the 8GB is horrible and most modern games struggle with it.

      the 4060 is actually a 4050
nvidia cut the 4080 and 4080TI this gen, bumped every model below it up a notch in name only and increased prices

If you're planning to buy a 4060, you're not gonna use RT anyways, this gpu is not strong enough. Just go for AMD.

I got a 7900xt, its running fine so far. The only thing I experienced is the drivers crashing while starting Guild Wars 2, and only once since I alt+tabbed while it was loading, worked fine otherwise and the card is a beast.

Nah im being serious, as far as i remember (skyrim, fo4) the engine would shit itself if you mod it for higher fps.

              Anonymous

you never had to mod them for higher framerate did you? i had 120hz in 2010 and im sure i played skyrim at 90~fps or so on launch

                >The game is capped at 60fps, because the physics engine is tied to the framerate. Exceeding the 60fps cap causes all sorts of bugs and glitches with the game's physics.
You could frick around with .ini file but Havok/engine would shit itself.

Fallout 76 had physics tied to the framerate so if you looked down you could literally run faster than you were supposed to, but i never had an issue at high frame rates in their other games

As others have said, at $300 the 6700 XT is unbeatable by far. Nvidia enthusiasts will tell you that it sucks at raytracing, but a card in this range is NOT going to be good at raytracing no matter what. The only actual advantage (in gaming) an Nvidia card will have over it is DLSS, but in the vast majority of games you shouldn't need to use it.

don't get anything less than a 4080. it won't be worth it. alternatively, wait until the next gen gpu's come out next year and then get a used 4090 on ebay.

If you’re gonna want a GPU that isn’t third world country tier, you will need to spend at least double what your current budget is. A series S is only $300 and guaranteed to run starfield.

nta but never had an issue with my 3080 at 1440p yet outside of raytracing. on a 4k tv DLSS saves the day.

we'll see, Bethesda games have never been cutting edge technology and from the gameplay shown it looks outdated. I'll take a guess and say it'll be more single thread CPU heavy especially with that shit engine.

They are just trying to scam you, I've checked a couple of stores in Slovakia I've figured out it's where you live for you and even though your prices are high there it's not as bad.
But I don't know what big retailers are there.
