I still love all the conspiracies surrounding how "EA TOTALLY BOUGHT THE AWARD," even though by that point, Hazelight would've entirely paid off the their contract and EA would receive no money from the game's sales aside from Origin's general sales cut.
It was much more simple than that. Geoff took a liking to Josef Fares ever since the frick the Oscars skit. He has made him a regular at the event since, they are friends. And IT2 made the bias obvious
I like the part where I could tell just from the approximate position of your lone "good game" rating that you were going to be a FromSimp. Get some taste and an actual personality, please.
>dark souls, but in feudal japan, better combat, funner tools, better designed bosses, more concise story, better exploration, better platforming and movement, and a skill system instead of a generic stat system >good game
Yes, that's correct.
>must have been a weak year
It kinda was. Most releases were overshadowed by Kojimbo's spooky demo.
2014 had Alien Isolation, Bayonetta 2, SP Stick of Truth, DKC Tropical Freeze, Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, MGS Ground Zeroes, inFamous Second Son, Shovel Knight, and Dark Souls II. All of those games have their issues but every single one would've been better a GOTY than Inquisition.
Compared to 1 yes, but it's a pretty good game nonetheless and its art & sound were gorgeous. Better pick than Inquisition for sure (and it was actually nominated too so it could've won).
Literally only Titanfall and MGS Ground Zeroes were good games on your list anon and Ground Zeroes is a glorified demo Dragon Age fricking sucks to but 2014 sucked
>Alien Isolation is a really fun 6 hour game that takes 20 to finish >Bayo 2

The game itself is very mediocre but DS2gays are so fricking annoying I’m glad they were never rewarded for it.
>Also some wonky balance (smart pistol).
Nothing is broken about a weapon that wants you to look into enemy for 5 seconds before firing. If someone kills you with smart pistol they could've killed you with a regular assault rifle too.
>Also ruined the kino of inFamous 2
How are there people who can like this piece of shit that was InFamous 2?
This game destroyed everything good that the 1st game had.
>Good game but I’m glad it didn’t win. Looking back on it SK was the focal point of that weird indie kickstarter incestuous crossover shit that I can’t stand.
Could there be a worse opinion? You don't like game because of some trend that other games tried doing? What happened to evaluating the actual fricking game you NPC?

NTA but Prey was the System Shock 3 a lot of people dreamed of. It’s an excellent game.
I remain convinced that BotW’s popularity was largely from tendies discovering what physics were for the first time. It wouldn’t be the first time consolegays were wowed by ancient PC tech though.
Thats fake, the real results are at the vga and for example Witcher 3 and NieR Automata won in their respective years.
The sources for your competition are simply not reliable, so they are not the true results of Ganker
I would say its barely good, like barely reaches the 7.5/10 score.
Just from its year i would say, Sekiro, Pathologic 2, Outer Wilds, Resident Evil 2 and DMC5 are better games.
Outer Wilds was easily the better indie, it was an actual good game with strong game design and innovative space systems, its a genuine miracle of an indie game, then you have Pathologic 2 which was more artisitc and atmosphere and even more immersive and interesting to play than that dialogue slog that is called Disco Elysium, just because its the biggest im14andthisisdeep material doesnt make it game of the year.
Choosing DE over a game like Outer Wilds is instant failure in evaluating game design and merits on game quality.

empty slot for ghost of sushi 2 but i very much doubt its comimg out this year
Nominations are absolutely going to be: >FF7 Rebirth >Infinite Wealth >Helldivers II >Dragon's Dogma II >Balatro >some Ubi game (might be PoP Lost Crown given the backlash against Outlaws)
Plus a decent chance of them just nominating Shadow of the Erdtree and opening the floodgates for DLCs winning GOTY
Helldivers is only winning the online/community awards, closely beating Palworld. And honestly Tekken 8 should take FF7's spot. Let fighting games shake up the weeb market more.
T8 is getting dogged right now for pulling a "the big microtransaction come in at Month 2 so the reviews don't deduct points for it and the word of mouth isn't bad" and it being PvP focused hurts its chances at GOTY ambitions. It'll take Best Fighting Game (even though UNI 2 is better, and I say that liking T8 more than 6 & 7 combined) and MAYBE one of the other minor awards.
At least the results were legitimate, i dont agree with all of them but at least you know its not botted to oblivion and back. Its indeed what Ganker thought was the best game at the time.
And im talking about actual Ganker poster not the tourists and trolls.

Any game can be a GOTY because some random even gives them an award. Their all equally as prominent and give you an exacuse to say you won a GOTY.

well at that point you can add just about any publisher because that's kind of the idea behind it
but what does that show?
BG3 cost 150 million dollars or so.
^this
plus they were selling the game at full price before it even launched
> BG3 cost 150 million dollars or so.
This can’t be true?
You think that much fully voiced dialogue is cheap?
The credits list almost 4000 people, how cheap do you think it was to make?
they all pay out the ass when it comes to marketing except for larian you all did it for free.
It's funny that the only smaller "indie" game that ever managed to win isn't even technically a indie game and actually published by EA

I don’t remember 2018 being that bad but second place went to a game that cost 60k to make. Would of been funny if it beat 100 million GoW.
I just remember my GotY was the Octo Expansion that year. I also had fun with MHW and DBFZ but both of those games had a mountain of issues.
