The idea that some Pokemon get evolutions that veer too far off into another direction to the point where everything you like about the original Pokemon is gone, and the idea that certain Pokemon get evolutions so close to their original they're essentially pointless, are two ideas that can absolutely co-exist. There are tons of Pokemon and tons of designs in them, trying to claim every single person should feel the same about every single evolution is idiotic.
I don't like Dudunsparce because it's a no effort meme evolution that copypastes. I don't like Ryhperior because it completely misses the appeal of Rhydon and turns a cool kaiju into a shitty jobmon. Both designs are on opposite ends of a spectrum and therefore both are shit.

What the frick? It's not a natural continuation, it's literally the same thing but played as a shitty meme. A continuation would be taking the multiple aspects that make Dunsparce an attractive design and expanding upon them like 90% of evolutions do.

>focus on the hermit aspect, make some hikki mode really fat snake that lost the ability to dig tunnels or something, pure normal with a bunch of recovery moves
Instead we got quite literally dunspace with extra body parts copypasted, I feel like the joke is that Dunsparce is a rare and unremarkable Pokemon, so now we have an even rarer and more pointless 3 segment form, which would probably be cool if they literally did anything else with the design instead of hitting CTR:+C then CTRL+V for the body parts, even the name is just Dunsparce+Du.
