It isn't "overrated" just because 99% of the infantile population perceives it as a piece of pop culture, as opposed to the world-defining piece of literature that it really is.

Oh man, that'd actually be a cool tone to go for, for a Zelda movie. I always thought it was cool how "First Steps Towards War" was sorta the theme song of the Ys I OVA and I can picture music in Zelda being used to the same effect.

Had its neat moments and its one of the few pure high fantasy shows japan has ever done, but yeah i still wouldn't call it amazing.
I wouldn't call Grancrest good, but it's relatively straightforward and earnest. If you've been wishing for a more straightforward fantasy series I'd say give it a shot.
