A terrible first laptop considering the price. Even if it was cheap, those specs are way too frail nowadays, specially if the kid needs to have online classes.
What kind of online classes need more than a display and a video decoder? Like, it's kids, kids don't do Machine Learning or compile a hundred thousand lines of code.

He loves it, plays minecraft and roblox great, plus emulation works well.
For the price you might as well get a used Thinkpad that’s going to have better specs and build quality

People didn't need to care about specs, when they're getting the same homogenized computer.
But now the people who bought those are parents and probably didn't care enough to know about such things.
They don't even know about phone specs. Most people think a 100 dollar smartphone is the same as any other smartphone and get confused when their chinaphone overheats running whatever mobile game they downloaded.
I have three friends who studied game development. None of them have a PC. They even refused when I tried to gift them my old pc parts for them to complete a build. I'm convinced that this is why indie pixelshit needs a 7th generation i5, 8gb ram and a 1060. Because they don't have computers and don't know what the frick they are asking from the customers.
And I can't even tell if they are overcharging for that pc. That i5 can be generation 3 for all I know.

thats another huge part about why these builds are a scam. the average person who maybe knows a bit about cpus because they bought a laptop before may think an i5 or i7 must be good because its better than an i3, but they have no idea what generation it is or how old it actually is. its their own fault for not doing research but its very clearly intentionally misleading by these scam pc sellers
