i remember people loved those in 2000s. especially mods that replaced cars with modern variants. in retrospect i understand how tasteless that actually was
I'm playing the pc Mario64 plus version and it´s so fucking good... It's been yeats since I played it and I'm actually liking it more this time. The 60 fps really make a different, the movement is just butter smooth.
Guys… someone poured hundreds of hours into this to make YOU smile. They just wanted to give you an improved experience, so they rolled away in Photoshop on every little detail. They did it for free, they did not want anything in return but the thought you enjoyed replaying your favorite childhood game in a different way. Be nice!
I just Googled this and watched a video having never heard of it. What's weird to me is that as someone who doesn't play many 5th gen 3D games, this is how I actually remember the game looking as a kid. This is in my mind how it always looked, to the extent that the original looks jarring next to it. I don't remember Mario being so low poly, I remember him being smooth and round and detailed. Maybe that's just the magic of playing on CRT at low resolution.
How further are they now or has the project succumbed to the apparent drama? Last I asked someone involved, something about how the walls would need some work to add the brick joints to make the walls looks better with the new texture and etc. they said it was in the plans

The point is to make it looks like the magazine, manual, etc. renders as much as possible
I don't usually approve of re-texturing, but in the case of n64 games. Something needs to be done. There is a certain threshold of acceptability, and n64 texture resolution misses that mark.
For me an increase in texture resolution shouldn't be so far outside of what the original already was. Putting 4k textures in a N64 game is as ridiculous as if it had been done for New Vegas or what have you.
I think a simple 2x should suffice. Along with cleaning up any errors.
I would agree 4k is not needed. However x2 is still a little insufficient for n64. I have seen some screen shots of Mario64 with texture smoothing disabled, and the pixels of a wall texture were half the height of Mario.
Basically, as a rule of thumb, if your game is unacceptable with texture smoothing disabled, then your texture resolution is too low.
I disagree, the extremely low resolution of N64 textures has its charm. It's so low res that the presentation practically becomes abstract and dreamlike. Games like OOT just wouldn't hit the mark anymore if you upscaled the textures since the merit comes mostly from its atmosphere.
Taking that away would just make N64 games look like low budget Dreamcast titles.
hd texture pack. I got your hd texture pack right her bro!
HD texture? I hardly know 'er!
Thanks bro
I love when they add those horrid reshade effects

Wasn't mean to be played like that. Looks like shit
I play in 15 fps and it makes the game look twice as good

Isn't this just the normal game emulated at higher res
Zelda if he fable
These need a HD CRT filter, it was never intended to be seen like that.
looks really comfy
just look at the sheer terror in his eyes
Sometimes, dead is better.
He took too many mushrooms
But i thought hd texture packs removed the need for remakes!

>Be nice!
You yourself know its bad.
It looks fine. It’s a different take on the classic we all love. Makes it unique.
I want them to be nice too but remember where you are anon
it looks fine
No thanks bro, I already got one
This one actually looks alright, I still wouldn't add it to my game but I see what they are trying to achieve here.

That one image probably took 20 hours to render.
>he doesn't adjust the scene complexity until it takes exactly 64 hours to complete
ngmi
That's actually pretty good
>here's your free thing you can use if you want or it's cool if you don't
>AHHHHHH I'M GOING INSANE
