This show has really lucked out that it was kind of "the first of it's kind" with Netflix "anime" productions so people just ignore how bad it actually is and direct all the criticism to the other "anime" shows that followed after it.

It also has to do with the first batch of episodes being pretty promising because they don't attempt to rock the boat too much with it. People got excited for the 2nd season and those same people have no backbone to admit that it's not the same show that was first released.
Media literacy is generally pretty terrible, especially now that binge and parallel watching are mainstream activities. Can't really say you watch a show or movie in any sort of attentive manner when you had it running in a tab in your browser while you did one or two other things.

Which is crazy since the visual designs for Richter and Maria are fine, it's just literally everything else that's fricked beyond belief. Essentially SotN was a reboot to the entire series in terms of lore, gameplay, and artstyle. So since the original RoB didn't properly fit into SotN canon or IGA CV-verse, they had to remake it in order to give it the "approved IGA treatment" by having it look more gothic and have all the characters be redesigned by Kojima. So DXC ultimately became the real canonical entry while RoB became it's own non-canon thing.
However when the time came for Castlevania titles be remastered, Konami was too lazy to properly port DXC to the PS4, so they just took the original RoB and slap it on the PSN store. But since Kojima artstyle is the look of the series now thanks to IGA, they had to use DXC art so it wouldn't look out of place next to SotN art and that there's still a few homosexuals out there that get triggered if a CV entry doesn't have Kojima artstyle.

SOTN was not a reboot, just was popular and then every port will had the Ayami Kojima boring style. Konami knows that remake is not as popular as Rondo. Anyway, Iga didn't bring Kojima to the project, that was Toru Hagihara.
SotN never rewrote the canon, anon. Literally the only thing that happened was the art style differed from Rondo, and thus the Rondo characters were depicted in a different style from Rondo.

Essentially SotN was a reboot to the entire series in terms of lore, gameplay, and artstyle. So since the original RoB didn't properly fit into SotN canon or IGA CV-verse, they had to remake it in order to give it the "approved IGA treatment" by having it look more gothic and have all the characters be redesigned by Kojima. So DXC ultimately became the real canonical entry while RoB became it's own non-canon thing.
However when the time came for Castlevania titles be remastered, Konami was too lazy to properly port DXC to the PS4, so they just took the original RoB and slap it on the PSN store. But since Kojima artstyle is the look of the series now thanks to IGA, they had to use DXC art so it wouldn't look out of place next to SotN art and that there's still a few homosexuals out there that get triggered if a CV entry doesn't have Kojima artstyle.

Annette is a core reason for Richter to get involved in his campaign against Dracula. in Rondo. Her character is somewhat well known. Deciding to make her not only black, but very specifically strong waman revolutionary black stereotype is odd Blacks yelling about the impact of the french revolution and who to support or whatnot afterward is historically accurate, but Annette was not one of them. Out of all what's listed thus far this is the most objectionable.

I'm guessing its inspired by him having a giant lizard form rather than turning into bats or whatever in SotN.
