Drive Rush yes because it's like turbo SFV forward dash which also gives you plus frames on anything out of it. It's not armoured or anything though.
But I thought we were talking about Drive Impact, which is more akin to fully charging and letting rip a SFIV Focus Attack. Only really scary in the corner and does change the mental stack a lot when your back is to the wall.

Drive Impact is definitely a Hail Mary. It's the level 3 focus attack of the game (easier to land than lv3 focus though)
Hail Mary's don't change the metagame of football. Teams don't modify their plans to avoid hail mary's.
Mediums and Heavies are only punish tools now because they're too slow to let you stop DI on reaction. Frame traps might as well not exist. Light confirms are absolutely everything in 6 because of DI and DR

I want to believe you when you say you're a fan, cause it isn't like every copypasta you post is wrong. The faces on characters like Kimberly, Chun, and Manon are all definitely off, and the lighting hurts the look more often than it helps. I think the issue is trying to stylize the RE engine, which was design with realism in mind, over it being a budgeting problem. I can't say I agree with much else though. I think it's weird that an 09'er would complain so much about DI and DR's color splashes when their game is the one that started Street Fighter's showy ink blot effects. It also made defense way easier with FADC letting you cancel your dp and be unpunished. It also allowed insane damage numbers allowing you cancel for damage too, FADC into an ultra almost always lead to huge damage. This isn't even going into character balance, with lauch Sagat and Elena being far worse than what Guile has shown us so far outside of his TOD which I don't want in the game either. That game also had a slew of newcomers like El Fuerte, Rufus, and Hakan who are complete jokes(I say this despite loving Hakan and Rufus), but having someone like Marisa isn't okay? There's more to go into but I'll leave it there because nothing you've posted has lead me to believe you have played Street Fighter before.
I wish I was the 6chizo. If I put the same amount of effort into learning a fighting game the way this guy does shitposting the million would be mine with no effort.

if nothing else I'll quickly say that i very much realize that SF4 was the beginning of the inky/fluid particle effects, but i think there's a big difference between the subdued, tasteful, uniformly colored and Japanese calligraphy inspired black FA ink from SF4, and the Splatoon paint in 6. particularly for Drive Rush, because it has characters like Ken and Ryu throwing green particles all over the screen which they've never done before and which is wildly incohesive with the rest of their color palette. as far as the newcomers in 4, i fucking hate Rufus. Fuerte gets a pass cause i had a Rey Mysterio faze in like 2007 and fuck with luchadors, and Hakan grew on me because doing that combo where you back to back two Focus Attacks and it puts them into a juggle state that procs his anti-air Ultra 2 is fucking hilarious.

Yeah! It took a little practice and using Hori's Device Manager to adjust the diagonals, but I haven't had a problem with it since. Honestly it's holding up better than any of the FC4s I've used.
How do people hold these things? Just the same as you would a normal Dualshock controller? The six buttons on the face of it always seemed weird to me, I get it on an arcade stick because you're pressing the buttons with more than just your thumbs, but with this you'd either only be pressing the face buttons with your thumbs, which seems weird, or you'd be pressing the D-pad and using the stick with more than just your thumb, and that seems weird too.
It's a little bit of a pain. You have to disconnect every single button to do it. It took me about 20 minutes all in all. It wasn't so bad once I found a good way to grab and remove the wires from each button. I used pliers to grab onto the metal part of them and used the edge of the case as a point of leverage. That made it quite smooth.

i have same complaint but different reason, new pc/laptops etc are expensive, i enjoy whatever fighting game i play, and i want to play it regularly but everytime a new fighter gets released my already small pool of people gets smaller, it sucks, i was even willing to learn new fighters like i bought melty blood tl, i even kind of learned mbaacc and would play it daily, i learned garou, and also bought ggxx and ggxrd but by the time i get there, everyone is already moved to new stuff, and my shitty laptops cannot handle these new games, one thing i don't understand about people i know a little, why do they even need so many fighting games when the real fun comes from playing from other people, as long as the person you are playing against is trying as hard as you, it becomes same fun, fighting game hardly matters, yet i still have to keep chasing my friends when new fighters come out, one game hasn't failed me yet is ironically 3rd strike, i get to play some new arabs some time and other arabs that i play against also still play, i have made some vietnamese and fun malaysian friends, but i am scared they will leave too, when sf6 releases.

the breakdown is that they outsource their modeling to western ip mills that work on mobile games. say what you will about scamco but at least they make their own fucking models
watching high level games it feels like the matches are dominated by drive rush and impact and that the characters unique playstyles aren't really allowed to shine cause everyone has access to insanely powerful drive rush and impact which are better than all their own tools.

I didn't say that they were a non-issue. They're simply easy to exploit, to the point where you can do so either on reaction or by complete accident. The way the mechanics themselves work can fuck them over (see: DR's freezing the entire world which means hitboxes stay extended, leading to a guaranteed counter hit)

The throw break window is huge and can even be done once the animation has started. But even without those he got hit twice, once on counter hit so was mashing. Could've just combo'd into super off that one and won right there.

We still don’t know how modern will affect the meta, that’s not something that will be determined for a few months. At the very least M Gief and M cammy will be strong
We've had multiple betas, lots of tournaments and not seen them do anything crazy. Characters with DPs are the biggest threat with them yet it has amounted to fuck all. For grapplers it means nothing, any decent player (or shit one on hitbox) can do a standing 360 on demand. Who will also get varied grab range. I mean half the idea was always what if they have an itchy trigger finger for 1 button supers. As if you wouldn't just start playing more conservatively robbing them of their only advantage.

the amount of mental exertion required to do a 270 is always, always going to require a micro instant of hesitation, even among pros. At midranks it's going to be bad, you'll have scrubs with snake eyes tier spd reaction.

the President at Capcom expects SF6 to move 10M units in its lifetime based on SFV having moved 7M units in 7 years. that would mean they're hoping for something like 1.5M units sold per year, and that means SF6 would need to sell 750k in the first 6 months to be on target. that's a big ask. especially since we know the new Mortal Kombat comes out just 3 months later in September now. DBFZ only recently passed 10M units sold after 5 years, and that's a licensed Dragon Ball Z game that caught a HUGE wave off the back of MVCI shooting itself in the foot. if a FREE Beta for SF6 that INCLUDES ONLINE PLAY is only pulling 32k players peak on PC, i think it's safe to say that's not a good sign. especially since 1/3rd of those players didn't bother to log back in on Saturday or Sunday.
if SF6 were launching with an F2P version that rotated between Ryu and Kimberly, Chun-Li and Luke, and Jaime and Ken as the two playable characters you have available, i think this game would do astronomical numbers day 1. even looking like utter garbage.

KOF and most anime fighters have extra movement options and their neutral works different. SF6 reminds me more to Granblue vs and DNF duel.

just practice. my P2 is pretty sloppy compared to my P1 because all of my training mode is done on P1. so you pretty much just need to force yourself to play the other way. training mode P1, play matches P1 and etc. if you end up thinking it's more your wrist than just being lack of training then it's time to think about a leverless controller like a pad or hitbox.

Drive Impact is definitely a Hail Mary. It's the level 3 focus attack of the game (easier to land than lv3 focus though)
Hail Mary's don't change the metagame of football. Teams don't modify their plans to avoid hail mary's.
Mediums and Heavies are only punish tools now because they're too slow to let you stop DI on reaction. Frame traps might as well not exist. Light confirms are absolutely everything in 6 because of DI and DR

I want to believe you when you say you're a fan, cause it isn't like every copypasta you post is wrong. The faces on characters like Kimberly, Chun, and Manon are all definitely off, and the lighting hurts the look more often than it helps. I think the issue is trying to stylize the RE engine, which was design with realism in mind, over it being a budgeting problem. I can't say I agree with much else though. I think it's weird that an 09'er would complain so much about DI and DR's color splashes when their game is the one that started Street Fighter's showy ink blot effects. It also made defense way easier with FADC letting you cancel your dp and be unpunished. It also allowed insane damage numbers allowing you cancel for damage too, FADC into an ultra almost always lead to huge damage. This isn't even going into character balance, with lauch Sagat and Elena being far worse than what Guile has shown us so far outside of his TOD which I don't want in the game either. That game also had a slew of newcomers like El Fuerte, Rufus, and Hakan who are complete jokes(I say this despite loving Hakan and Rufus), but having someone like Marisa isn't okay? There's more to go into but I'll leave it there because nothing you've posted has lead me to believe you have played Street Fighter before.

if nothing else I'll quickly say that i very much realize that SF4 was the beginning of the inky/fluid particle effects, but i think there's a big difference between the subdued, tasteful, uniformly colored and Japanese calligraphy inspired black FA ink from SF4, and the Splatoon paint in 6. particularly for Drive Rush, because it has characters like Ken and Ryu throwing green particles all over the screen which they've never done before and which is wildly incohesive with the rest of their color palette. as far as the newcomers in 4, i fucking hate Rufus. Fuerte gets a pass cause i had a Rey Mysterio faze in like 2007 and fuck with luchadors, and Hakan grew on me because doing that combo where you back to back two Focus Attacks and it puts them into a juggle state that procs his anti-air Ultra 2 is fucking hilarious.

Yeah! It took a little practice and using Hori's Device Manager to adjust the diagonals, but I haven't had a problem with it since. Honestly it's holding up better than any of the FC4s I've used.

How do people hold these things? Just the same as you would a normal Dualshock controller? The six buttons on the face of it always seemed weird to me, I get it on an arcade stick because you're pressing the buttons with more than just your thumbs, but with this you'd either only be pressing the face buttons with your thumbs, which seems weird, or you'd be pressing the D-pad and using the stick with more than just your thumb, and that seems weird too.

It's a little bit of a pain. You have to disconnect every single button to do it. It took me about 20 minutes all in all. It wasn't so bad once I found a good way to grab and remove the wires from each button. I used pliers to grab onto the metal part of them and used the edge of the case as a point of leverage. That made it quite smooth.

For grapplers it means nothing, any decent player (or shit one on hitbox) can do a standing 360 on demand. Who will also get varied grab range. I mean half the idea was always what if they have an itchy trigger finger for 1 button supers. As if you wouldn't just start playing more conservatively robbing them of their only advantage.

This is specifically why I say the only character where modern controls might be mandatory is Zangief. A 1 button SPD and 1 button level 3 (720) is really difficult to convey how much better that is, even at the loss of damage.

just practice. my P2 is pretty sloppy compared to my P1 because all of my training mode is done on P1. so you pretty much just need to force yourself to play the other way. training mode P1, play matches P1 and etc. if you end up thinking it's more your wrist than just being lack of training then it's time to think about a leverless controller like a pad or hitbox.
