It's better to view games as toys or, well, games even if they can be classified as art depending on the definition used. Devs thinking of games as art, whether they are or not, has had disastrous consequences.
He only said this because people were just making up shit about the game and also got mad about elisa lamb being referenced in the game when there's a game about that one dad who abused his daughter for years and had multiple kids with her.
The guy's a dick but I do feel bad for him. The game is intrinsically linked to the last few weeks he got to spend with his mother and everybody shitting on him probably hit harder than it would otherwise.
But yeah, the game's bad. I'll say that they managed to squeeze a few good songs into it though, Alex's theme is great.
>But what about (game where character is kind of a meanie but still is ultimately cool and well meaning but makes some bad decisions) >That's definitely exploring the same subject matter as a schizo loser
If your game isn't a good game then it isn't a game that is art. That being said, his game wasn't good art, either. He's the definition of would never make it anywhere else indie dev.
Videogames are constantly considered art, people b***hing about it are just throwing a fit over others not engaging like they want to.
Which is a failure on their part, the audience gets the last word on how to deal with the work. Always.
>people don’t like my art >so I shit my pants >games actually aren’t art
Lol he’s just being a dramatic homosexual. He’s butthurt that his entire game got reduced down to being YICK.
>postmodern jrpg
Anything with more word than just the genre is pseudo intellectual homosexualry
I don't if videogames are art or not, I want to play them
On one hand I do think hes right. You see it in books too where people have a fricking meltdown if you make your character "bad" in the "wrong" way.
HOWEVER the fricking author of Yuck of all games isn't in a position to point this out considering everyone hated his character for reasons that had little to do with his intentions.
the definition of onism makes me wonder how much of yiiks plot is pure imagination
like he sees cluadio saying hes going to investigate the record and he wishes/imagines himself doing it with claudio.
Oh yeah the thing with Alex is we forget that him remembering being friends with micheal isn't true anymore because they hated each other after Michael moved away and how Sammy's name changes shit like that is quite suspect
No.
Maybe he just sucks at writing.
>people don't like your art
>get mad and throw a tantrum
he's definitely a real artist
You are not entitled to people viewing your game as art.
"art" doesn't mean "good"
>unlikable character
yes
>transforms
no
He "has to" but he fails because the minute you start engaging with the RPG delusion he's already lost.
Anything can be art, the thing is - not all art is "good" art. He produced a piece of shit so it was judged rightfully so.
Not all criticism is valid criticism.
Not sure why you're telling him this as if he claimed the contrary.
It's better to view games as toys or, well, games even if they can be classified as art depending on the definition used. Devs thinking of games as art, whether they are or not, has had disastrous consequences.
>implying devs thinking of games as just products hasn't had even more drastic consequences
Games are art, it's just that Andrew made shitty art.
Art=Entertainment=Toys
There is no distinction between any of those words, only pseuds think so.
>the Mona Lisa is my favorite toy
The Mona Lisa sucks.
It's a shitty toy.
He only said this because people were just making up shit about the game and also got mad about elisa lamb being referenced in the game when there's a game about that one dad who abused his daughter for years and had multiple kids with her.
>He's SUPPOSED to be shitty
>I wanted to make a game about a guy who's a piece of shit unlikable character, who by the end of the game has to transform.
Silly me. I guess I just imagined playing an RPG just like that over a decade before that homosexual made a shitty game.
Alex isn't that bad of a character and YIIK isn't that bad of a game
don't you have to spend hours of your time defending YIIK like a schizo, helkrai
That's not me
>I wanted to make a game about a guy who's a piece of shit unlikable character, who by the end of the game has to transform.
Silly me. I guess I just imagined playing an RPG just like that over a decade before that homosexual made a shitty game.
But there’s too much game there.
It’s only art if the actual game part is minimal so you can focus on the shitty characters and writing.
Should have gotten those fricking groceries then.

Why are the PS2 copies so fricking expensive?
no idea.
Especially now since the Last Recode collection exists
>But what about (game where character is kind of a meanie but still is ultimately cool and well meaning but makes some bad decisions)
>That's definitely exploring the same subject matter as a schizo loser
Alex is LITERALLY ME
He doesn't even change, he just starts crying for his friends in the last part of the game, its a complete character whiplash.
>a game about a guy who's a piece of shit unlikable character, who by the end of the game has to transform
>pic unrelated

Video games certainly contain art, but they also contain a non-art element (gameplay).
Modern """"""""""art"""""""""" is a fricking joke
toys are high art
>I made a thing people didn't like, and this is their fault, actually
Delusion.
Videogames are constantly considered art, people b***hing about it are just throwing a fit over others not engaging like they want to.

Anyone gonna play the update coming in January?
Isn't this like the 4th version of the game?
No, it's the 2nd revamp
>Anyone gonna play the update coming in January?
not really unless people who were critical about the first version actually go "this fixes everything".
Not falling for another Royal Edition type scam
never heard of yiik outside this place
will not hear of yiik outside this place
maybe write something that isnt shit you b***h
is this new? i've been to onism 1999 a number of times and never noticed
>postmodern jrpg

Author?
the same idiot who said the thing in OP's pic
No shit, but he isn't an author anon

Yeah onism is a pretty good name for a image forum that's supposed to be about conspiracy shit and supernatural stuff
onism sounds unpleasant
now onanism, on the other hand...
