I don't recall MGS1-3 being two full hours before you're allowed to freely play.
MGS3 has an opening codec conversation that's like 45 mins plus cutscenes and tutorials. Also each MGS game's cutscene lenght is relative to it's hardware and basically crams as much cutscenes as possible on the disc. For 2001 MGS2's cutscene to ratio gameplay is basically unheard of until MGS3 and so on.
nah its actually genius the use of levity and comedy to make the serious moments of mgs hit even harder. Comedy makes things so much more digestible than le serious gamer bs like the last of us.

on Ganker when this game first came out every american poster loved the game most europeans and latin americans seemed to be mixed on the game, german and swedish anons seemed to hate it the most. it should also be mentioned that the us ign review came from an australian not an american.

So? Its your reward for toiling for so long and you have to set up ziplines carefully to maximize their reach. They do a good job making it hard, like the windfarm area can be ziplined to but setting them up is a process. Every game has "late game broken stuff" in it.
