I tell the sincere truth - while I read a lot ABOUT books, ideas and themes, I only actually read only couple of books - few Discworld novels, Canticle for Leibowitz and Le Guin books since I absolutely can't stand unnecessary text like long and detailed descriptions that bring nothing significant to the story. This is where Le Guin shines - if it doesn't matter if character have grey, red or black hair, you don't need to waste time on describing their haircut, reader is not a moron and can imagine just fine and if their vision is different, it's okay too. Too many authors thinks that bloating their stories makes them smart. Same for dialogues that brings nothing. And I prefer almost exclusively sci-fi or fantasy.
I don't have time to read story books, actually. Work (including constant updating my education and checking scientific articles) and hobbies leave no time for that and reading during bus travel is impossible when you barely have space to move your arm and have at least 3 different people making loud phone call over your head with loudspeaker. I do check authors and books with selection based on plot summaries and opinions since my mother loves to read and I want to supply her with new books (and you have no idea how fricking hard it is to find optimistic sci-fi or fantasy these days, everything MUST be grimderp, post-apo, dystopian, cyberpunk and so on).
Somehow, this approach is enough to call me "troglodyte" by book fanatics but I don't care. Whatever floats your boat.
