Hey folks, me and 3 of my pals are going to start an extended playthrough of Pokemon Red and Blue with the idea being to alternate every 6 hours. We plan on keeping our file open for the next 5 years, and I am anticipating we can catch on average 15 pokemon per hour. If we keep the game on 24/7 365 days a year, do you think we can realistically catch 5-6 million Pokemon?
there's a hard cap on your PC pokemon storage in Gen1. how are you gonna record catches if you can't keep the pokemon?
I mean we are planning to keep these records on paper
Why do any of this?
clearly autism, many such cases. SAD.
Gotta catch ´em all!
Five years are 43800 hours, if you are assuming 15 Pokemon per hour that amounts to 657000 Pokemon in five years.
If you want to manage five million in five years, you'll need to catch roughly two Pokemon per minute.
Even if you are going to use the Missingno. glitch to multiply pokeballs, as I don't think you can get enough money in-game to buy that many balls, you'd have to go for easy catches like Rattatas, as anything else would simply take too long. And even then, with all the animations for starting a wild encounter and actually catching them, it might still take too long.
You can bump up the speed if using an emulator. Don't get the point though.
>Even if you are going to use the Missingno. glitch to multiply pokeballs, as I don't think you can get enough money in-game to buy that many balls
>What's Elite Four?
Gaaaaay
Genuinely, all 4 of you need to seek help.
Absolutely depraved, OP. You don't have to catch literally all of them
It's the only way to make sure I guess
Imagine catching 5m rattatas and not have a full Pokedex
I think the japanese guy that left his sufami on for years is way cooler
What is the purpose of just catching the Pokemon?
Do you all not have jobs?
Looks guys I'm just curious if it's possible or not
What's your contingency plan for when the battery dies or when one of your friends dies?
I factored in the time it takes to change batteries into my calculation. I don't foresee this endeavor being dangerous enough to kill my friends
>I factored in the time it takes to change batteries into my calculation
It will erase the save
>I don't foresee this endeavor being dangerous enough to kill my friends
That's not what I was implying.
>your batteries die, your save data is gone
Have you ever played gameboy
More than you have, scrub.
Reread what I said.
You know you can just plug it into a wall right?
>when the battery dies
if you're going to do some shit like this at least use emulators and save fiels/savestates that you can send each other online, jesus christ.
I dunno about your weird plan, but I strongly suggest playing them with Pokemon Stadium to use the extra storing boxes and all the QoL provided by the item/pkmn/TM/HM management provided by Stadium.
Same with Gold and Silver and Stadium 2.
I think it's a version of the WW2 oven joke.
this board is so aspie nobody caught the obvious joke
