There wasn't anything moronic about the story. You just get fricked in the ass by everyone and a war breaks out because snowBlack folk get uppity and think god is on their side.
I liked how everything tied together. How the only reason your brother got kidnapped is because a dickhead tested a potion on you. I liked how the kidnappers got tied into the story. I liked the suicide mission for the sword that ends in complete failure as the sword rejects you because you're not a snowBlack person.
The entire story was like a fairly straightforward Gothic story but with soviet Polish cynicism.

The whole deal with Volker was moronic as well. Marvin could just wait till royal guards leave the island and then murder him without the need to lose his companions in some moronic and dangerous expedition which resulted in the whole city being butchered by above mentioned snowBlack folk
Some bits of the story were nice but the main plot was contrived as hell
And the cherry on the top is how Marvin is allowed to keep Volker's uber sword when literally sent to prison

There is no italian voice acting and the series is popular there too

I wish there were more quests and pirate-related content in Gothic 2. Easily the comfiest faction out of all.

Risen 1 maybe, Elex only if you can get it for free
The counter-attack when blocking in the steam version of Risen 1 is bugged ever since they updated the game in January of this year. It's still not fixed half a year later.
achievements in Risen 2 that require you kill/collect/get a set number of things are broken since the launch, and the only way to get them is either to do them all in one go without exiting the game, or editing the file that's keeping track of them, because it resets every time you launch the game

Risen 1 is good and very gothic like, then they tried to do something different and Risen 2 was made, which had a nice premise and promising story/mechanics, but it's buggy and unfinished so it flopped. Risen 3 is salvaging Risen 2, with more polish but less vision.
Never played Elex, heard it's worth its price now, but it wasn't at launch.
I'm excited to get Total War Rome II, but why is the game with all of its dlc 60 dollars? It came out in 2013
