Most of it is a brawler where you take advantage of the rhythm system to do extra damage but there's constant little interruptions where your character gets immobilized in a brief cinematic and has to hit specific buttons immediately or get fricked
specific buttons that are the same buttons every time you do those actions
I don't see what the issue is, it's no different than charging up a move. You're just prompted to wait for two beats and hit the button.

I just waited for a sale, because it wasn't this big title I was waiting for. Still bought it, and it's fun. Having played it now... I wouldn't have felt bad if I had paid full price for how bombastic and pleasant it is.

I didn't think the QTEs were that bad. During combat you'll get a few prompts during special attacks but it wasn't too egregious. There are rhythm game sections where bosses and mini bosses stop the fight to make you play Simon though, those get annoying.
Hi-Fi Rush failed because it sucked and no amount of shilling from Redditors on here will change that.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask or if this is a question that should even be asked. I heard that FFXVI is kinda basic and barebones in terms of gameplay. I thought HFR is kinda basic and barebones in terms of gameplay. Are these two games comparable to each other gameplay-wise?
I'm looking forward to when the PC version drops and if it's at least the same as HFR (I really liked the rhythm gimmick) in regards to depth then I think I'll be okay with it.
