Fricking love this game more people need to play it. The devs subsequent project End of Dyeus is great too. It's a zelda (original zelda not botw) style open world adventure game. No tutorial or quest text or anything you just get dropped in and frick off.
>Northern Journey >512 reviews (Overwhelmingly Positive)
Might be the best, strangest, and most soulful game I've played in the last few years, and it's only made by one guy. It has retro-y FPS combat, but it's not super focused on that. It's like a surrealistic Scandinavian adventure game. If you're even remotely interested after seeing picrel, just buy it, you won't be disappointed.
Though fair warning it has a shitload of spiders.

can't say for the whole game but the opening starter location is fricking beautiful

Wolfstride fricking sucked because it sells you on "oh cool mech battles and rpg" but then you play the game and you get what, 2 mech battles (1 where you're supposed to lose) between a buncha bullshit story and really annoying dialogue
You get a frickton of mech fights, that's the one highlight of the game. Not only are there a myriad of required ones, but there's also a bunch of unique side ones that are optional and have wacked out mechanics.
The issue there is it's balanced like shit and the second you can get a high damage attack and one that boosts your meter, you win everything without any challenge.
But the actual issue with the game is the shit ending and lack of explanation for anything despite all the build-up, with a terrible attempt at ripping off Zone of the Enders.
The issue is that you have to put up with a buncha annoying dialogue and scrappy underdog shit before you even GET to the mech fights. I gave it about an hour and a half or maybe longer (it's been a while) before giving up in frustration. I wanted to do mech fights, not run fetch quests forever
The first post-tutorial fight is the longest to get to, but after that you get a mech fight every 5-10-ish in-game days and a day typically takes like 5 minutes at the longest if you're not grinding.

An XBLIG escapee, and it might be the best game from that hellhole.

Alright, fair enough.
Didnt know Sseth was getting that big.
pirate it if you want. But if you enjoy melee combat, the game has possibly the best system for it that I've ever seen. The early access is because Exanima is technically a tech demo for a full RPG called Sui Generis, but I don't know if that's ever actually gonna come out. I hope so. I really do.

No I haven't seen that. Thanks anon, I'll check that out. The combat in Exanima is one of the best things about it.
Exanima is a tech demo, not even a good game.
yeah it's technically a tech demo, like I said, but with the arena mode and getting through that massive dungeon, it could pass for a full game, I'd say.
Don't know if it's on sale but The Riftbreaker is pure hidden gem. A mix of ARPG tower defense and base building in a sci fi setting. Killing hordes of enemies with dual gatling has never been more satisfying. Coop expected soon.

Scan the galaxy for extraterrestrial life. Has a few spoopy things but mostly just a comfy simulator. You can put video files into a folder and watch them on the VHS player at your desk (picrel).
Be warned that it hasn't had an update in a very long time. Supposedly the dev has tweeted a few times that he's still working on it, but idk. Even if it doesn't get any more updates again, I think it's still worth the price for what it currently has.

I'm surprised anyone cares about Steam achievements since they don't even have an overall score tied to them.
personally I look at it that way - if the game doesn't have basic b***h steam features then:
1) dev is not to be trusted
2) there is absolutely no point in buying it on steam vs getting elsewhere
if they use an engine under the GPL license, it is not legal to combine it with the steamworks API
not sure if this is the case here, but it's not necessarily because the dev is lazy
You might as well keep waiting. It's getting a patch in a few days that'll make some of the movement smoother along with some other fixes.

Loved Wizard of Legend, I should play it again. I stopped playing because I got a fever during the time I was playing it, and one night I had a long fever dream set in the air level of the game, deformed with impossible geometry and looping paths, it was pretty uncomfortable because it went on and on with the same rooms and despite being very angry and annoyed I couldn't wake up.
This one is something special. I like the grapple/fling mechanic and it's got top notch waifu material. Absolutely agree it's decent though aside from those points.
For me it is the Fight Knight, the best Steam Summer Sale game. Kinda plays like first person Punch Out with dungeon crawl elements. Art is a bit quirky, music is pretty good, gameplay is great. I liked the dialogue but I'm also moronic so could just be me. Every enemy composition has it's own team name and it's charming.

It's not that big a deal in this context. Calm down. It strikes me more as the writer trying to give the character speaking a formal tone than pushing the idea that the player character is genderless or something.

THese posts are made by the ex-gf of the dev of Fight Knight. She's a schizophrenic Korean bawd who embezzled money from multiple indie game projects and tried to accuse the dev of hypnotizing and raping her after inventing the Coronavirus to keep her locked inside so he could hypno-rape her further before she counter-hypnotized him and made him scared of birds or something. She actively admits to browsing Ganker and shits up any threads that discuss the game. It was a bigger shitshow around release.

Metroidvania retro-style FPS with some really creepy and weird designs. instead of a crouch key, you have a "Metroid morph ball" key that you use to get in small areas and bounce all over the place.

I got this after a person (possibly you?) recommended it a few sales back. I liked the visuals a lot, which doesn't surprise me cause I like Zdzisław's art, but the gameplay was very basic. Not awful, just nothing special. So anyone going in keep in mind that the game lives and dies on it's visuals. Worth the 5 bucks IMO.

To call this extremely short game a "gem" would be a huge stretch but it's definitely hidden and there's a tiny bit of history behind this one.
A noir detective story set in a world of bugs, the game is divided up into mediocre shooting/platform segments and classic point and click investigation segments with dialogue and item combining.
This thing was the baby of some of ex-LucasArts employees, among them Larry Ahern (Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, Sam and Max Hit the Road, a project lead on Curse of Monkey Island, etc).
The game was meant to be released in two episodes but part 2 never materialized after the publisher got acquired by another company and the poor sales figures of Part 1 on PC couldnt justify even the shoestring budget of this game.
Meanwhile, the DS port was finished and shipped before the cancellation of part 2, so despite the fact that this game ends abruptly halfway through, the rest of the story and more point and click gameplay is available on the Nintendo DS, albeit with heavily downgraded graphics and no voice acting outside of pre-rendered cinematics.
The game is LucasArts alums all the way down, the musicians and character artists coming fresh off Psychonauts.
Veronica Taylor voices the main character, you would probably recognize her as Ash from the Pokemon anime.
The IP holders have expressed vague interest in rebooting the whole concept as a purely point-and-click experience.
good taste, this was one of the first games I bought directly on Steam in either a summer or winter sale (only thing I had before that was a physical copy of HL2). I haven't thought of it in probably 10 years, should probably replay it.

I want to get this game but I've seen people complain that it's poorly optimized, how true is that?
I really like the art direction but the minimum requirements DO look a lot higher than I expected.
I can't say, on my end it runs fine (around 120-130fps), but I also have a beefcake PC with an i7-9700K and 3080. pretty sure I've seen people complain about the same thing in past goblinism threads, so if your PC is just barely on the minimum requirement line then maybe wait for them to do an optimization patch.
>if your PC is just barely on the minimum requirement line
Yeah... my GPU is about the same as the one listed but my CPU is slightly worse. >wait for them to do an optimization patch.
I haven't been following development, -can- I expect them to do this?
devs do pretty large updates every month or two, I know they've mentioned optimization a bit in previous patches. could always see how it runs and just refund if it's sub-60fps for you, just don't go over the 2 hour mark.
Not that anon but if you're so worried you're pc won't be able to handle it, just wait until either you upgrade or the game is further along. Even if you're able to squeak by right now, a few updates could change that. >can- I expect them to do this?
They did a big optimization pass last year, but it's still not without rough edges. I don't expect another one for a while.
Yeah, I'll probably get it now that it's cheap to try it out and if the performance is completely unacceptable I'll just refund and wait for more development patches and/or upgrade my PC.
I've been using this PC for almost 10 years now and honestly it still does what I need just fine but recently I was unable to run Monster Hunter Rise, a fricking Switch port, so maybe it really is time to upgrade.

Also I live in a third world hellhole where computer parts are moronic expensive, well before crypto memes ruined the market even further.
I have hd 7850 and it works for me.
What CPU?
Once Sunbreak was released and my game was patched I was able to properly create a character and mess around for a bit, but the game crashed constantly and I can only assume it would be worse during multiplayer so I just refunded it.

That's interesting.
Do you play with graphics on "average" or did you have to lower that?
Not that anon but if you're so worried you're pc won't be able to handle it, just wait until either you upgrade or the game is further along. Even if you're able to squeak by right now, a few updates could change that. >can- I expect them to do this?
They did a big optimization pass last year, but it's still not without rough edges. I don't expect another one for a while.

good shit, can vouch for CARNAL, The Citadel, Hypnagogia, and Necrovision.
I have Sublevel Zero Redux on my wishlist but it is never on sale anymore, sadly.
been noticing that a lot with indies lately, like the devs just forget to discount it anymore.
Switchcars looks nice, but it's not on sale either.
Slime-san (45 reviews)
Now, this game is ugly as shit, HOWEVER it's a pretty damn good super meat boy-style platformer, and has a shitton of content (hundreds of levels) for very cheap.
Link's Awakening, pretty puzzle oriented but there's still the basic combat. Has a light Harvest Moon marriage system where are are bachlorettes to choose from
Ironically the day after I beat it like a month ago the frickers released a giant ass update for it but by the point I was done with the game

brigand is seriously addictive and its very easy to start flowing with the game's stilted sort of style and start laying waste to chumps. protip: by the time you get to the place in the pic, you're going to want to have some way to deal with disease

I need a new good multiplayer game to play. I'm begging you. I've looked through steam for at least 20 hours now this week and I have come across nothing that seems fun. I even tried Black Desert Online for a few days, I'm that desperate for a new good multiplayer to sink my time into.
I'm a friendless loser and my only joy from video games is social interactions with others. I can't play single players.

Wreckfest, get into some discord, cause some ruckuss and talk well spirited smack
it may not be as intense as you prefer (i'm rather quiet and play mostly quiet mp games) but i thought the general atmosphere in lobbies that weren't #realracing were fun and people would get pitted and tboned kamikaze style solely on the basis of social dynamics

Nevergrind online and that aliens fireteam game are pretty solid. Nevergrind plays like EQ but with all the bloat cut out and you can party up with randos in town. The alien game plays like a solid 3 player left 4 dead/gears of war mashup - i was suprised at how not shit and fun it was playing online with randos.
Here, you can play this. Constantly hundreds of people playing it still to this day, and dozens of clans recruiting 24/7. Just play it a bit, join into a clan (pref some casual one), and then you can just idle in some discord server because you're a goon and no one will care since there will be DOZENS of people active at once. It ranges from both serious & silly in terms of gameplay based on what group you're going for is doing. Have fun, anon.
If you need a regiment recommendation, I'd say the FRL. Their leader is some zoomer brit-asian nerd homosexual, and there's a bunch of kids in the group too, but it's very casual and has some of the cooler people you'll ever find in the community.

Are you fricking stupid? You could have used that time to go out and make some friends.
Start playing Magic at an LGS if you're that desperate.
You will probably like Dead by Daylight. You only actually text chat with people at the beginning and end of matches but the absolute variety of ways you can interact and potentially piss people off is addicting. I've played it quite a bit and have collected so much steam profile hatemail it's amongst my favs even if the devs are morons
Almost every game Adam Millard shows in the background on his channel or talks about

One of the best games I’ve played this last year, but I have seen 0 people discussing it
Yeah, those don't pretend to be western. You got a game with an obvious anime (Persona 5 comes to mind) inspired art style, and you name your MC Brian Pasternack? And what's up with those shitty character models? That general doesn't even have a mustache like on his portrait.
He's a yuppie though isn't he? I wouldn't go to some seedy bar to watch a bears game with a guy name brian pasternack but if I was hanging out with my buddy Skeeball and some yuppie walked by and skee was all, there goes Brian Pasternack i feel like it would make sense.

I don't really see your point?
I can't really understand why you would care so much about Brian's last name, especially when almost every charachter in the game has a western name as well
The issue with the models is a bagatelle, I'm not defending it, I'm just asking why you even care
It's a great game with a fantastic setting

just torrent shitty loweffort 5hour playtime games like any other sane person , the only games you should ever pay for are multiplayer globohomosexual competetive games if you want to be grped with dumb young idiots and drunktards or le weed smokers.
I can't be bothered to pirate anything under 40 dollars
And I don't want to play the sort of games that cost 70 dollars at launch if you know what I mean
5 dollars for a game is nothing, I genuinley don't care
The effort that it takes to find a torrent for a game when I already have the game up on steam isn't worth saving such a measly amount

Cute game about farming, but also has some depth in terms of survival mechanics. Also coop.
Pretty nice cart but Bloodlines was €4.79 at one time, so either you wait till it's that price or you say "Frick it, I want to play it now"
Same with DS2, game was €1.67 at one point.
feels like the devs forgot what made the first game good and just made a bland twin stick shooter instead. They also dont take criticism lmao.
Its not lookin great but who knows
yeah I got banned permanently on a first offense from their discord because I told one of the devs I preferred a different handgun from him (???) real gays tbh, soured me on the second game, prob won't bother with it
shame because I LOVED the first game, and my positive review has like 300 likes on it
I really think it's a case of the developer not actually understanding what people like about their first game
Any Run'n'Gun Shmup games like Metal Slug/Contra that aren't Blazing Chrome or Mercenary Kings?
ever played ABUSE? Bleed/Bleed 2? Butcher? Intrusion 2? Seraph? Assault Suits Valken? even Terraria can play this way, lol. there's like a ton more of these that I could name if I weren't running on 31 hours of being awake with a broken foot lol
>yeah I got banned permanently on a first offense from their discord because I told one of the devs I preferred a different handgun from him
Anon please. You aren't fooling anyone. You didn't say something like >yeah that's cool but I prefer the glock because it's cheap and disposable and fits well in my hand

and I said "man, I do way better with the last breath, the kaida is a piece of shit in my hands" with a nitro laughing emoji on the end

I'm still working my way through this thread, but to the anon who posted his list of like 200 games a week ago, you are an absolute champ and that list was great.
At least you're not hurling insults at me because I find the names jarring. I find names like these more fitting for a Book or Movie, Games have to have characters with names that stand out or at the very least sound cool, like Lloyd Irving or Colette Brunel (These sound like names you actually encounter but still are cool) I don't know, guess it's a bit moronic to keep dwelling on that part. Might have to play it in order to stop hating on an indie game.

Difficult platformer, metroidvania second. around 25-30 hours.
It has a 'metroidvania' mode which reduces platforming difficulty by removing some obstacles if some of you think it's too difficult, although it still stays hard. I recommend playing on either mode to your liking
Most of the negative reviews are just people crying WAAAHH IT'S TEW HAWD, but it's not as ball-breaking as they make it seem.
I hate games with skill trees where the entire tree is just generic shit like "+5% melee crit damage" and then a mage/ranged equivalent on the other trees
why even have a skill tree for generic shit like that
Probably so you can add to your playstyle without the trees being so different that a poor build would render things impossible. However, you can respec for free anytime you sit so I got to play around with things. I personally don't mind it but wouldn't care if it was gone either when games do it so I see your point. I enjoyed charms a lot in hollow knight because of how different they felt
ah I should of explained my self a little better
I find trees like that pointless since it just means you build into 1 thing and are effectively punished for using the others, if you aren't really going to make them matter, why even have them at all? just balance the game around you using everything
I know why its in the game though, if you google the game you get a bunch of posts from the developer talking about the skill tree and how hyped they are to have one in a metroidvania, and it seems like he decided in his head thats what his game would be, the metroidvania with the skill tree, but he didn't really have anything to put in it, and the game ended up a lot more platforming heavy so he definitely couldn't put that much in the tree that matters
I complain because I wanted it go be an interesting skill tree with cool abilities, not a generic pointless waste, I hate to see the missed potential, even if I understand why it turned out like it did.

salt and sanctuary has DEEP lore but give it a pirate
Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos is a good choice if you like ALTTP with rougelike dungeons. It's a pleasant grindy kinda game that is a hidden gem don't hear much on it.
If you want a good puzzle game with cool plot you can get both Puzzle agents for ~1.80€
It's basically "we have professor layton at home" but with weirdness instead of the sweet charm.
Finished both in 7 hours, 1st one is better both in story and puzzles but they're both worth it.

Deadbolt

All from the same studio btw
ror1 is super cheap and is literally 2 mb, try that one first
I've played the shit out of Roboquest, it's a LITTLE short on content right now but it is still in EA and what is there is a TON of fun, it's basically Borderlands except with much better gunplay and no stupid humor or any dialogue at all really outside of cutscenes
Roboquest is great and is probably one of the best shooters I've played.
Procedural levels are so well designed they feel like they were handmade
All guns are fun to use with amazing animations and sound
I'm actually surprised Ganker isn't talking more about this game since you play as a cool robobro helping a very cute and funny girl
That sounds nice, I like Borderlands a lot in terms of gameplay but I hate the moron humor
I'm buying it
How does this compare to gunfire? Gunfire is super fun and roboquest looks okay but i'm not a huge fan of the robot aesthetic. Is there good enemy variety?
I despised gunfire's gunplay, the weapons felt unsatisfying and often awkward, and they were also frequently of somewhat poor accuracy (other games with this problem: ziggurat, immortal redneck) which is a big dealbreaker for me
meanwhile, roboquest's gunplay is extremely tight, weapons are punchy and accurate and enemies have great feedback upon being hit or killed, plus the selection of class abilities is quite good, you can really customize your playstyle
to tell you the truth I refunded gunfire after an hour, lol -- it's also been like a year or two since that, so maybe that game is different now

Nebuchadnezzar is real shit, unfortunately.
I really wanted to like this game but it's just fricking boring, has 0 charm and feels like the developers were being forced to make this game somehow, rather than doing it for passion. There's no love put into it, unironically souless.
I already own Gurumin, The Vagrant and Fortune Summoners but thanks! I will check out the other games. (Desperados 3 and that samurai/ninja game from the same devs too).
I'm not a hard fan of LWA but if it's repetitive like the South Park games with enough story to keep me entertained, that's fine with me.
Fell Seal >like FFT and Disgaea >fully customizable generics down to the portrait >multi classing and free class switching >multiple difficulty modes with modifiers so you can play permadeath, permanent wounds, temporary wounds, no penalty, etc. >make sure to get it with the DLC since it adds monster taming and idle missions where you send your units out for resources >dull battle effects and clashing styles, especially the portraits
Dark Deity >like (classic) Fire Emblem >lots of units and classes to choose from, new units almost every mission >permadeath optional last I checked >classes change follows a branching system with two options per class change (3 total tiers IIRC) >tons of base conversations >S rank romances >can be extremely jank to the point where some people are getting bugs that crash the game >shitty game launcher pops up when you run it for some reason
Symphony of War >like Ogre Battle mixed with Fire Emblem >Big titty giantess unit >not on sale >I haven't played it yet
well, there's RoboQuest that we've been talking about; it's an early-access FPS roguelike thing that plays a lot like Borderlands except with better gunplay (better enemy hit reactions, less spongey enemies, more fun weapons), highly recommended (search the thread for more discussion of it)
Project Warlock is a love letter to classic FPS (pre-Doom, although it exceeds even Doom limitaions at times) made by two minors from poland, it's quite good if you like retro FPS
if you like weird settings, dungeon-punk styling, and Hexen-style puzzle/objective gameplay with hubs and even NPCs, grab Hedon: Bloodrite (has significant fanservice also if you're an Orc Content Enjoyer)
did you ever play Rage? might be a good time to do so if you haven't
Severed Steel is an insane bullet-time parkour environment-destruction FPS game where you die in one hit but so do most enemies, it's ridiculously fast-paced and has instant restarts like hotline miami, it's an absolute blast
(but honestly nothing beats doom mods for FPS IMO, grab Hydrosphere map mack and Project Brutality 3.x and have a grand ol' time, or grab ashes 2063 which is a stand-alone game created using GZDoom, pictured)
seconding ashes
ESPECIALLY its stellar sequel Ashes Afterglow
the jump in quality is fricking insane, would've payed full price/10 on steam tier
but its free
Rhythm + turn based Rpg, you attack and defend by playing a rhythm mini game.
The story is cool but the dialog is a bit cringe, there is voice acting but is mostly mediocre.
The song selection is great, but some songs do get repeated a bit too much.
It's a really cool unique game. Lasts less than 10h
Best factory game since Dyson Sphere Program. It's a bit tougher than DSP, as you need to think a little more realistically. >$30
If you have an interest in the factory genre, play this game. It's very good. Might not take off like DSP because it's not as casual and it's more expensive, but definitely must-play for fans of the genre. It's different enough from Satisfactory, Factorio, and DSP, making it fresh and worth playing.
So although I got a lot of games now, I still have one itch that can't be scratched (at least in my opinion) Games that feature DWARVES, be it as party members or even better you play them.
Then why isn't your itch scratched? Unless you want strictly fantasy dwarf that game is dwarf sim. if you need fantasy and a tactical rpg is okay try The Dwarves
Because as cool as the dwarves from DRG are, they are sci-fi ones. I want a dwarf with rich ornamented armor and an axe. But Vermintide 2 isn't fun anymore.
I backed The Dwarves before it came out, and I found it fun as frick.
Blade of Darkness has a playable dwarf.
Otherwise there's this guy cataloging them for you: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/11458897-Dwarves-of-Gaming/

For fricks sake I lived through when games looked like this already because of technical restraints, I don't want to go backwards. Making a game look like it was originally on Atari 2600/Amiga/Gameboy/WhateverOldThing is fricking lazy art design not 'retro styled'.

solid game and very cheap ($2.50 on sale, $5 normally)
>Tadpole Treble >245 reviews (Very Positive)
mario paint/rhythm adventure, really nice songs for the main story, the 3 levels with lyrics are insanely well done.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/354400/Tadpole_Treble/
I would highly recommend Intravenous. It has some pretty in-depth stealth mechanics such as: carrying more equipment affects your movement speed and sound, suppressed guns still make noise and the type of gun affects how noisy the shot will be; e.g a suppressed smg will be much louder than a suppressed pistol. Reloading also makes noise.
The game is viewed from a top-down perspective in simliar to Hotline Miami, but with the mechanics of the old school Splinter Cells. You can also run and gun like in Hotline Miami but its hard as shit. The A.I is quite intelligent and will try to outflank you. If you try to cheese it by standing in a room and shooting whoever comes through the door, they'll just surround the outside and chuck grenades in, killing you with shrapnel (yes grenade shrapnel can kill you in this game). There is also a level editor which lets you create your own, and play other people's levels via steam workshop.
The music is amazing, so are the visuals and the sound design is crisp. The story is pretty basic, not bad, just simple. Basically your brother gets killed by some junkies which then leads you down a vengeful warpath to kill men who killed your brother, which then leads to you wanting to find and kill the source that's peddling this new type of drug into the city in the first place. I won't spoil the rest, just buy it and play it. It's honestly the best stealth game that has come out in years, made by one guy.
You can play the entire game stealth, levels are quite large and have multiple routes leading to objectives like entering through windows or vents. There is a loadout screen at the beginning of every level and you can choose a variety of guns, gadgets and equipment. Some are for going loud, others for pure stealth.

Can i offer a dungeon crawler that reminds me of the old SMT games? The music could use a bit more oomf but it works, the game has challenge but its not Etrian Odyssey CBT levels and your party is fully customizable even during exploration you can change what skills to bring all the time.
The translation sometimes bugs out but it fine 95 percent of the time, its also on the switch but for double the price.
If it get you to buy the game yes, you get a couple options for your team including an alt with the infamous swimsuit. Theres even a Conan copycat if thats more your thing.

Really great roguelike that's set in space. Has multiple win conditions. You can do questlines for 7 or 8 factions, do one for everyone, find the amulet of tyendor and some other endings i forgot.
I had this on my wishlist for a while but $10 for a roguelike when I can play (most for free or already own most of the steam tradroguelikes) doomrl, tome+dlc or even dcss seems a bit too much
Anyways, on to the next game:

Warsim is a text/ascii art based kingdom simulator where you can do ALOT. Bet on arena fights, conquer neighbors, start practicing sacrifice and worship of demons, be a good king... it's up to you.
I got this game back in 2017 when I was on a discort for a bunch of roguelikes on my first account and the dev was like "oh hey, my game is only $4 this sale, described the concept" and I got it in that sale.

All Day Dying
Indie shooter, mostly scored based with some objectives for each level. Tries to be rather free form and yet strict in that you do create your own path and strategy in maps that feel like could be multiplayer maps instead of linear straight levels, but has a very strong penalty where it doesn't let you just wing it.
Bloodlust: Shadowhunter
https://store.steampowered.com/app/280600/BloodLust_Shadowhunter/
Basically indie VTMB in a bootleg WoD setting, I played it many years ago when it was only in beta and it was already pretty good. It's made by one guy so don't expect much but it should scratch that vampire RPG itch that every other dev keeps missing.
there are good games that are cheap and there are bad ones. I got a ton of games for 90% off and have already played most them at least an hour. Just don't get bad games?
Why do so many people on this board act like its not possible to be good cheap and indie. Which couldn't be further from the truth. There are tons and tons of games below $5 that offer dozens if not hundreds of hours of fun. Theres a lot of trash too but thats what reviews are for.... The reviews on steam are in my experience basically always incredibly fair and perfect for determining if a game is good or not. Bad games virtually never get reviewed positively. And if it ever does happen you can find out by reading one of the pinned negative reviews that are always on games where such a thing is needed.
I just don't get this prevailing idea that you can't get good cheap indie games. You absolutely can find them and in droves.
Could you rec me some games with a lot of outfits?
action/rpg/etc doesn't matter just I want to dress up characters for action - last time I enjoyed this I played Resonance of fate
That's why I read reviews man. Praises are one thing and get me confirmation for the images and videos I'm looking at but nit-picky reviews reveal a lot of shit that are either nebulous or make me hold off on the sale entirely.
I read a lot more negative reviews than positive ones.
Also completely ignore any review with a sizeable amount of hours of playing time.
Most positive reviews are worthless, specially for <$10 bucks games.
One of my favorite childhood games. Had a blast replaying it when it released last year.
Combat might be a bit hard to get into for the first couple of hours but it is extremely satisfying once you get the hang of it.

Basically walking simulators with some light interaction, but I love the art and music in these games. Super comfy. There is a sequel coming out soon that is supposed to be more of a game with boardgame like elements.
speaking of walking sims I got this for 50 cents. It's not even really a game but for the price I think its worth it
.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1322170/Pluviophile/
Its just a game where you walk through the woods while rain falls piano music plays and you find poems on pieces of paper scattered around. Nothing much but relaxing and chill.
Thread's about to get auto-slid but I found Citizen Sleeper and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you're a fan of Disco Elysium it's somewhat similar to that; harder sci-fi and less stylistic but very enjoyable nonetheless.
I personally think it's worth it. But I'm a sucker for the artstyle and the writing. It's getting some free DLCs over the course of the next few months that'll expand the story. I fully recommend it, but it's all up to whether you like these types of story games.
I've gotten three replays out of it. There isn't a gigantic variety of branches like in Disco Elysium but there's a lot of different endings, all with good writing. The music is great. I'd say it's worth 16 bucks, easily. I've gotten 15ish hours out of it so far.
good riddance. This thread was a flop. Next thread can we keep it clean from shitty indian devs trying to hustle their connect the dot 10 review mixed games.
>there's only like 3 games in this thread so far that is worth a purchase >Exanima >Insecticide Part 1 >Undernauts

undernaut looks fine but not worth my cash. other 2 are failures, idk why someone wasted part of their life span "developing" them.

Might be the best, strangest, and most soulful game I've played in the last few years, and it's only made by one guy. It has retro-y FPS combat, but it's not super focused on that.

Top-down twin-stick zombie survival game with 4-player online/local co-op and an assload of content. It's sorta-kinda like Killing Floor. You survive waves of different types of zombies, then between waves you can buy stuff from the shop.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/512490/Zombie_Estate_2/
Oh shit I played the frick out of that with my buddy back in the day
Absolutely frick yes Zombie Estate 1 and 2, can't recommend this enough.
Charlie Murder and The Dishwater made it out of there too
nah those were XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade)
XBLIG (Xbox Live Indie Games) was 90% total shit. most were similar to the worst games you've seen on Steam when browsing the recently added section.
>The Vagrant
>okay it actually has like 7000 reviews but
this is basically the closest you will get to a real vanillaware side-scrolling RPG on PC, and it does not even cost one US dollar
it has fanservicey art and fun combat with actual RPG progression, highly recommended (I helped with the chinese to english localization but I do not get money from sales)
XBLIG WAS mostly shovelware, but there were some real gems in there -- I remember Epic Dungeon, ZP2K9 (and ZP2KX), and 10 Games To Play With Your Mates as being among the best ones.
If you like beat'em ups and fighting games then you would love Okinawa Rush. I have never seen anyone talk about this game on Ganker, I'm sure anon will like it.

Can't find a sales cart thread, so please give me a hand, Ganker. I played NWN to death when I was young but I haven't ever played Baldur's Gate. I'm also looking for some casual game with replayability especially if you can build your own buildings - I want something similar to the way Habbo Hotel let you decorate your room how you wanted with wallpaper, furniture etc.
>Barges in a thread unrelated to the discussion
How about you remove all of them and check out the games here?
No one played
on Ganker and there was barely any discussion around it.
Not going to make an entire thread just to get one question answered. I looked through my library before posting and there's nothing that would really pass as a hidden gem that's available on Steam.
Okay, I have nothing else to say but to frick off then.
Man STFU you insufferable c**t.
whats up with you, it's up to people to help answer or not, now you come barging in waggling your yardstick around, its either a thread or a comment in a thread, it's so meaningless to contest it one way or another

How am I not surprised. have a nice day newbie.
There's DLC for House Flipper where you can build homes
Pretty solid cart except for the D&D bundle since it has Siege of Dragonspear in it.
Do you know if Traveller's Rest is any good?
Had it on my radar, but from what I heard it is a pretty fun game where you collect resources, craft, farm and cook. I'd say get it, play it an hour and if you don't like it refund it. Thankfully, Steam has that option.
Thanks for your help, but it says that since its not abandonware, you only have the buy option.
Thanks man
There is another really good game where you farm and explore the world.
Check out No Place Like Home.

Successor to the GoldSrc mod of the same name. Retro-style multiplayer FPS running on the id Tech 3 engine. It's fun, even if you just play against bots. The negative reviews are from before last month's patch that overhauled the game and made it good.

Underrail
Age of Decadence
>Underrail
Shilled by Sseth and it's been discussed to death on /vrpg/
Ok so?
So it's not a hidden gem.
I think its important to understand that just because something is well known within a niche, it does not mean it is well known to those outside it.
I understand anon, but this is simply not one of those games lol. It's constantly praised as one of the great Isometric RPGs in the vein of fallout 1 and 2. Most people that liked Western RPGs would have known about this game.
Alright, fair enough.
Didnt know Sseth was getting that big.

similar combat, demo was fun
>early access game for the past 7 years
LMAO no
pirate it if you want.
The combat in Exanima is one of the best things about it.
yeah it's technically a tech demo, like I said, but with the arena mode and getting through that massive dungeon, it could pass for a full game, I'd say.
Exanima is a tech demo, not even a good game.
Don't know if it's on sale but The Riftbreaker is pure hidden gem. A mix of ARPG tower defense and base building in a sci fi setting. Killing hordes of enemies with dual gatling has never been more satisfying. Coop expected soon.

I admire your dedication to shilling/shitposting this awful game
lol I was gifted that game, installed it (it's 30 fricking gb) and have yet to launch it. I genuinely believe my life will end sporadically as soon as I play it.
You might as well keep waiting. It's getting a patch in a few days that'll make some of the movement smoother along with some other fixes.

The only time Ganker ever talks about this game is to dickypost, but it's actually a really good third person shooter/platformer/collect-a-thon (reminds me of Ratchet & Clank) with tons of easter eggs. There's weapons and whole levels inspired by stuff like TimeSplitters, Metal Slug, and even TranZit from Black Ops 2 Zombies.
Also there's a first person mod that works impressively well.

Even if it doesn't get any more updates again, I think it's still worth the price for what it currently has.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/839310/Signal_Simulator/
I'm surprised anyone cares about Steam achievements since they don't even have an overall score tied to them.
Does it have an ending?
no, though I'm not sure what they could add to make it have one, there aren't any missions/a story in the game. it's just an open-ended simulator.
personally I look at it that way - if the game doesn't have basic b***h steam features then:
1) dev is not to be trusted
2) there is absolutely no point in buying it on steam vs getting elsewhere
if they use an engine under the GPL license, it is not legal to combine it with the steamworks API
not sure if this is the case here, but it's not necessarily because the dev is lazy
>widescreen VHS

Loved Wizard of Legend, I should play it again. I stopped playing because I got a fever during the time I was playing it, and one night I had a long fever dream set in the air level of the game, deformed with impossible geometry and looping paths, it was pretty uncomfortable because it went on and on with the same rooms and despite being very angry and annoyed I couldn't wake up.
I bought it because of the cute protag. The game isn't amazing, but it's decent.

Sort of a rayman legends clone based on wukong shit. Drags on but it's a solid game.

Kidding aside, if that's the worse it gets, it's nothing at all.
I don't want to normalize they/them shit. it's moronic and every character refers the knight as "they", takes me out of it.
Too bad it's still in the game.
>I don't want to normalize they/them shit
It's not that big a deal in this context. Calm down. It strikes me more as the writer trying to give the character speaking a formal tone than pushing the idea that the player character is genderless or something.
>using the word "they" to refer to someone you don't know the gender of
>Guy has male grunt sounds
>Design is obviously very masculine
>"We just don't know their gender bro!"
You can cope all you want, but I will never support troony shit. I don't even think the first demo from the kickstarter even had this fricking shit, he was obviously referred to as a guy but then that dumb asiatic prostitute ruined everything and he didn't fix her mistakes.
Whatever homie. I don't care enough to continue this. Don't buy it.
Yeah sure you do, don't advertise troony games next time.

using the word "they" to refer to someone you don't know the gender of (because they're covered in full-body armor) has been normal for many, many years before trannies took over pronoun shit. I think you're looking too far into it going off your example pic.
nope, I'm too moronic to know how to make vidya.
>using the word "they" to refer to someone you don't know the gender of (because they're covered in full-body armor) has been normal for many, many years
nta but this is false. a knight in full armor has always been a male, the only time where it's a woman is to subvert your expectations and surprise you.
>a knight in full armour has always been male except for the times it hasn’t!
Meds.
>using the word "they" to refer to someone you don't know the gender of (because they're covered in full-body armor) has been normal for many, many years before trannies took over
It's only been a couple decades. The default was to he, him or his up through the 90s at least.
people have been using "they" to refer to a single person for literal hundreds of years
https://public.oed.com/blog/a-brief-history-of-singular-they/
This discussion is not about if they can be used for singular, it is about what the default should be if sex is unknown.
The writer me too'd the main dev. Guessing that they/them stuff is from when she worked on the game.
Based loremaster. We just need her current name/handle now because she actually met the dev through those amateur game dev general threads that appear here and on /vg/ sometimes. Other anons need to know to avoid her like the plague.
She's more busy stalking /agdg/ threads than this one.
>posts from an insane person
>make perfect sense
Are we meant to believe your posts advocating troony talk are designed to make Ganker like the game more?
>Schizo asiatic claiming some fat guy from the Midwest invented the coof to keep her locked inside with special rape hypnosis through Discord calls "makes perfect sense"
Frick off you roastie slant
All of those posts are about the use of they/them pronouns for a knight. Nothing of that shit you said is mentioned. You're not fooling anyone.
>You're not fooling anyone.
You're talking to yourself by this point, you schizo chink.
>can't argue against calling a knight he
>the person who wants to do this must be this one crazy woman
Yes, do go on.
>This one particular person criticised THING
>Therefore whenever I see criticism of THING it must absolutely only be that person doing it
This sort of association mistake is a possible sign of mental illness. Not trying to insult you, just want to recommend you get tested.
I want to play this game but I'm afraid that the birds will get me if I do.
I guess I'll double dip and post Phoenotopia Awakening too. Technically has over 1k reviews but not by much. Great little Metroidvania that blew me away. Cover art might make you think it's some shit lefty game but I promise it's not. I remember the dev shilling this game on a podcast
Its not quite as good as Dragon's Fury / Devil Crash on the Megadrive (which its really obviously taking after), especially in the soundtrack department, but I really enjoyed this!
why would you play this over the realistic pinball sims
because video pinball can do things that a real pinball machine could never do, like have a dragon breathe fireballs that heat up your pinball and cause it to do more damage against roaming enemies

you're in the Coast Guard investigating a distress signal that came from a huge Russian ship. also has a chunk of the game take place on an oil rig, which is a cool location that's rare for horror games, for some reason.

Worth the 5 bucks IMO.

how does this compare to dragon's crown?
hey I'm the poster in
it does not compare to dragon's crown, they are only slightly similar visually and that's about it, The Vagrant is a $4 game and it has a much greater focus on narrative and story progression than Dragon's Crown, which is basically a pure dungeon crawler/belt scroller type game

I can't say, on my end it runs fine (around 120-130fps), but I also have a beefcake PC with an i7-9700K and 3080. pretty sure I've seen people complain about the same thing in past goblinism threads, so if your PC is just barely on the minimum requirement line then maybe wait for them to do an optimization patch.
woops, ignore the pic I forgot to remove, was gonna recommend a game until I saw it wasn't on sale atm.
>if your PC is just barely on the minimum requirement line
Yeah... my GPU is about the same as the one listed but my CPU is slightly worse.
>wait for them to do an optimization patch.
I haven't been following development, -can- I expect them to do this?
devs do pretty large updates every month or two, I know they've mentioned optimization a bit in previous patches. could always see how it runs and just refund if it's sub-60fps for you, just don't go over the 2 hour mark.
UE4
Yeah, I'll probably get it now that it's cheap to try it out and if the performance is completely unacceptable I'll just refund and wait for more development patches and/or upgrade my PC.
I've been using this PC for almost 10 years now and honestly it still does what I need just fine but recently I was unable to run Monster Hunter Rise, a fricking Switch port, so maybe it really is time to upgrade.
>I was unable to run Monster Hunter Rise
What do you even have?
GTX 660
It pisses me off because the Sunbreak demo ran fine, not 60 FPS but it was more than playable, then I bought and installed the full version and this is what I got in character creation screen.
Same energy
kek
I did say my PC is almost 10 years old.
Also I live in a third world hellhole where computer parts are moronic expensive, well before crypto memes ruined the market even further.
What CPU?
Once Sunbreak was released and my game was patched I was able to properly create a character and mess around for a bit, but the game crashed constantly and I can only assume it would be worse during multiplayer so I just refunded it.
i5-2500K
That's interesting.
Do you play with graphics on "average" or did you have to lower that?
>GTX 660
bro
I have hd 7850 and it works for me.
I've had that in my library for well over a decade, still haven't touched it.

good shit, can vouch for CARNAL, The Citadel, Hypnagogia, and Necrovision.
I have Sublevel Zero Redux on my wishlist but it is never on sale anymore, sadly.
been noticing that a lot with indies lately, like the devs just forget to discount it anymore.
Switchcars looks nice, but it's not on sale either.
You can get Switchcars for <1$ on keysites. I'd recommend doing that, it's a fun game, but definitely a bit overpriced for how simple it is.
Slime-san (45 reviews)
Now, this game is ugly as shit, HOWEVER it's a pretty damn good super meat boy-style platformer, and has a shitton of content (hundreds of levels) for very cheap.
Prodigal
Link's Awakening, pretty puzzle oriented but there's still the basic combat. Has a light Harvest Moon marriage system where are are bachlorettes to choose from
Ironically the day after I beat it like a month ago the frickers released a giant ass update for it but by the point I was done with the game
>Marriage system
Did that update add more romance fluff cause then I'd be interested.
They added two new romance options but beyond that like additional scenes or content with previously chosen partners I doubt it
How long does it take to do everything in Prodigal?
>Brigand: Oaxaca
>240 reviews (Very Positive)
It might look a little bit too rough at first, but after that you'll get a solid grasp of it. The main story is absolutely great and those two DLCs are also pretty enjoyable.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/652410/Brigand_Oaxaca/
brigand is seriously addictive and its very easy to start flowing with the game's stilted sort of style and start laying waste to chumps. protip: by the time you get to the place in the pic, you're going to want to have some way to deal with disease

Deep Rock Galactic, left 4 dead 2
For something more your speed if you like spooky games check out phasmophobia.
Just check out this video second part and it'll go in depth about how neat the reliance on communication and interplay of vr and regular screenusers are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cszAeXv0XvA
haven't tried it but it made it sound fascinating

>I've looked through steam for at least 20 hours now this week and I have come across nothing that seems fun

Almost every game Adam Millard shows in the background on his channel or talks about
I think his videos are pretty good, but it’s worth watching them for the recommendations alone
Seriously, I was struggling to find something to play for a while, went on his channel for an hour and bought 5 game afterwards
https://m.youtube.com/c/Thefearalcarrot
Also, play Yuppie Psycho
One of the best games I’ve played this last year, but I have seen 0 people discussing it
> Yuppie Psycho
> MC Name is Brian Pasternack
And I am out
You literally watch anime where the protag is called nipnong gong ching a chong and mob
It’s good though
I don't really see your point?
I can't really understand why you would care so much about Brian's last name, especially when almost every charachter in the game has a western name as well
The issue with the models is a bagatelle, I'm not defending it, I'm just asking why you even care
It's a great game with a fantastic setting
You'll know whether or not you like it after 2 hours, hell I know I was going to like it after the first 10 minutes
Argh, I want to buy Inscription but I've already bought some games this sale so my time will be dedicated to those too first!

I miss the days where people would chew you out for buying VTMB and giving Activision money. And in those days it went for 75% off.
Pretty nice cart but Bloodlines was €4.79 at one time, so either you wait till it's that price or you say "Frick it, I want to play it now"
Same with DS2, game was €1.67 at one point.
synthetik 1 is amazing
how is the second one?
feels like the devs forgot what made the first game good and just made a bland twin stick shooter instead. They also dont take criticism lmao.
Its not lookin great but who knows
yeah I got banned permanently on a first offense from their discord because I told one of the devs I preferred a different handgun from him (???) real gays tbh, soured me on the second game, prob won't bother with it
shame because I LOVED the first game, and my positive review has like 300 likes on it
I really think it's a case of the developer not actually understanding what people like about their first game
ever played ABUSE? Bleed/Bleed 2? Butcher? Intrusion 2? Seraph? Assault Suits Valken? even Terraria can play this way, lol. there's like a ton more of these that I could name if I weren't running on 31 hours of being awake with a broken foot lol
>yeah I got banned permanently on a first offense from their discord because I told one of the devs I preferred a different handgun from him
Anon please. You aren't fooling anyone. You didn't say something like
>yeah that's cool but I prefer the glock because it's cheap and disposable and fits well in my hand
you said something like
>lol u r a dumb Black person if you like that gun the best gun is this gun and I'll tell you why - because frick you!
nah, you know if I said something like that I wouldn't be like "because I preferred a different handgun" I'd be like "because I called the dev a Black person" because that shit is funny
but no very literally what happened was one of the devs was saying that the last breath revolver sucked and also people who use it are annoying in multiplayer, and that the kaida is just way better (which is like, you're the developer, if you think there is a balance problem maybe fricking fix it you homosexual?)
and I said "man, I do way better with the last breath, the kaida is a piece of shit in my hands" with a nitro laughing emoji on the end
and I literally got kickbanned from the server with a message about slandering or maligning the kaida or some shit, like what the frick
yeah, I own Examina, huge letdown, that game sucks dick
>exanima sucks dick and I don't know how to use guns properly
hmmm.....hmmmmm....it makes me wonder.....
>posts a picture of an S rank win in synthetik
>over 2/3 of my kills are headshots
>"don't know how to use guns properly"
???? u wot m8
this whole conversation was a mistake from the beginning because I thought you were talking about actual guns, not video game guns. So I have nothing left except to call you a homosexual, homosexual
You are a dumb fricking homosexual. Leave before you embarrass yourself further.
I'm about to embarrass you when I post my foot and my gun on here. Then you will have nowhere to hide, anon. It's time to face reality - and I am its representative.
It's over for you.
>that 95% skin toenail
why is your toe nail so small
I don't know. Why is yours so big?
I don't know either
You should see my pinky toe. Barely any nail on there at all.
Perhaps I am just more evolved. I mean, what function do toenails serve anyway? Fingernails make sense, fingernails are useful. But toenails? They do nothing.
i got banned because i said the anime shit they added looks completely out of place and ruins the aesthetic.
Shrike (one of the devs) also has a tendency to just sperg out at everyone lmao
yeah of course it was fricking shrike sperging out
>playing a video game
>"I don't have time for this."
lmao
I'm still working my way through this thread, but to the anon who posted his list of like 200 games a week ago, you are an absolute champ and that list was great.
Link?
I don't get it. What's wrong with the name Brian Pasternack? Is this some animu reference?
No
But a pasternak is a vegetable
Are y'all having a giggle here?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boris_Pasternak
Bitch. I know who Boris Pasternack is. I don't understand why anon is enraged by this name in this indie game.

Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos is a good choice if you like ALTTP with rougelike dungeons. It's a pleasant grindy kinda game that is a hidden gem don't hear much on it.
I know this is far from a hidden gem, but I was thinking of finally buying the second two Deponia game. How are they compared to the first?
They're just as good. If you liked the first one you will like the other three as well.
more of the same.
In a good way. Even if some puzzles in 2 are more bullshit than usual
If you want a good puzzle game with cool plot you can get both Puzzle agents for ~1.80€
It's basically "we have professor layton at home" but with weirdness instead of the sweet charm.
Finished both in 7 hours, 1st one is better both in story and puzzles but they're both worth it.

Glad I bought that now. Devs politics has nothing to do with the game anyway you dumbass antifa
It's got more than 1000 reviews but Marlow Briggs is on sale this time for a buck and is fun.
Has anyone played "Dyson Sphere Program" and "Roboquest"? They look fun
I haven't but I don't often see Ganker saying anything but good stuff about Dyson Sphere Program.
I've played the shit out of Roboquest, it's a LITTLE short on content right now but it is still in EA and what is there is a TON of fun, it's basically Borderlands except with much better gunplay and no stupid humor or any dialogue at all really outside of cutscenes
That sounds nice, I like Borderlands a lot in terms of gameplay but I hate the moron humor
I'm buying it
>Roboquest
That sounds like absolute heaven. Borderlands without the moron characters and humor
How does this compare to gunfire? Gunfire is super fun and roboquest looks okay but i'm not a huge fan of the robot aesthetic. Is there good enemy variety?
I despised gunfire's gunplay, the weapons felt unsatisfying and often awkward, and they were also frequently of somewhat poor accuracy (other games with this problem: ziggurat, immortal redneck) which is a big dealbreaker for me
meanwhile, roboquest's gunplay is extremely tight, weapons are punchy and accurate and enemies have great feedback upon being hit or killed, plus the selection of class abilities is quite good, you can really customize your playstyle
to tell you the truth I refunded gunfire after an hour, lol -- it's also been like a year or two since that, so maybe that game is different now
Roboquest is great and is probably one of the best shooters I've played.
Procedural levels are so well designed they feel like they were handmade
All guns are fun to use with amazing animations and sound
I'm actually surprised Ganker isn't talking more about this game since you play as a cool robobro helping a very cute and funny girl
I'm too lazy to look up how many reviews it has, but I've been having a lot of fun with Fell Seal since I bought it early in the sale, I play it almost every day and I haven't even touched any of the other games I bought yet.

Anything I should remove/add based on these games I've been following for a while?
I could use a turn based strategy game as well like Final Fantasy Tactics but I don't feel like playing Disgaea these days if that makes sense.
Nebuchadnezzar is real shit, unfortunately.
I really wanted to like this game but it's just fricking boring, has 0 charm and feels like the developers were being forced to make this game somehow, rather than doing it for passion. There's no love put into it, unironically souless.
Shit, I've been craving a game like Caesar 3 for a while now.
Gurumin: A Monstrous Tale
Onirism
The Vagrant
Valdis Story: Abyssal City
Fortune Summoners: Secret of the Elemental Stone
Little Witch Nobeta
I actually kinda don't recommend the LWA game unless you're a big big fan of the anime, because it's kind of a slog through repetitive gameplay
If you want a turn based strategy game then try:
Fell Seal
>like FFT and Disgaea
>fully customizable generics down to the portrait
>multi classing and free class switching
>multiple difficulty modes with modifiers so you can play permadeath, permanent wounds, temporary wounds, no penalty, etc.
>make sure to get it with the DLC since it adds monster taming and idle missions where you send your units out for resources
>dull battle effects and clashing styles, especially the portraits
Dark Deity
>like (classic) Fire Emblem
>lots of units and classes to choose from, new units almost every mission
>permadeath optional last I checked
>classes change follows a branching system with two options per class change (3 total tiers IIRC)
>tons of base conversations
>S rank romances
>can be extremely jank to the point where some people are getting bugs that crash the game
>shitty game launcher pops up when you run it for some reason
Symphony of War
>like Ogre Battle mixed with Fire Emblem
>Big titty giantess unit
>not on sale
>I haven't played it yet
Metallic Child
>setup shop tray days ago
>check it now
>empty
frick, I don't remember the games I had picked.
Any hidden gem/underrated FPS games?
well, there's RoboQuest that we've been talking about; it's an early-access FPS roguelike thing that plays a lot like Borderlands except with better gunplay (better enemy hit reactions, less spongey enemies, more fun weapons), highly recommended (search the thread for more discussion of it)
Project Warlock is a love letter to classic FPS (pre-Doom, although it exceeds even Doom limitaions at times) made by two minors from poland, it's quite good if you like retro FPS
if you like weird settings, dungeon-punk styling, and Hexen-style puzzle/objective gameplay with hubs and even NPCs, grab Hedon: Bloodrite (has significant fanservice also if you're an Orc Content Enjoyer)
did you ever play Rage? might be a good time to do so if you haven't
ESPECIALLY its stellar sequel Ashes Afterglow
the jump in quality is fricking insane, would've payed full price/10 on steam tier
but its free
>hidden gems thread

>25% on wishlist already
I really doubt that
Post a screenshot
>own 1200+ games

I meant that I bought/wishlisted most of what was recommended in these kind of threads, in a good way
Play Blaster Master Zero Jesus fricking Christ
Rhythm + turn based Rpg, you attack and defend by playing a rhythm mini game.
The story is cool but the dialog is a bit cringe, there is voice acting but is mostly mediocre.
The song selection is great, but some songs do get repeated a bit too much.
It's a really cool unique game. Lasts less than 10h
sounds neat
I really love patapon, how does it rank against it?
Best factory game since Dyson Sphere Program. It's a bit tougher than DSP, as you need to think a little more realistically.
>$30
If you have an interest in the factory genre, play this game. It's very good. Might not take off like DSP because it's not as casual and it's more expensive, but definitely must-play for fans of the genre. It's different enough from Satisfactory, Factorio, and DSP, making it fresh and worth playing.
So although I got a lot of games now, I still have one itch that can't be scratched (at least in my opinion) Games that feature DWARVES, be it as party members or even better you play them.
Literally Deep Rock Galactic.
Azumgi, I own that game.
Thanks Azumgi, I own you one.
>no deep down with dwarfbros clearing abandoned underground cities where dwarves delved too deep
>no deep down at all
Why are we here, if not to suffer?
Dragon Age Origins has good dwarf content in the origin stories and when you go there for the main story.
Don't know if it will ever come to steam but there's a lotr game where you play a dwarf reclaiming moria which you can play with up to 8 players.
Yeah I'm looking at that one. Return to Moria or something like that?
Yes, but like I said, it could be a EGS exclusive as they showed it at the Epic games showcase.
I bought Drakensang, Icewind Dale 1 and 2. So maybe that will scratch my itch for a while.

Making a game look like it was originally on Atari 2600/Amiga/Gameboy/WhateverOldThing is fricking lazy art design not 'retro styled'.
>is fricking lazy art design

So you looked through every cheap game and this is the best recommends you can come up with? Listen and I mean this literally: You have the worst taste I have ever witnessed. 95% of this shit is garbage.
every single game on that list is between 75% reviewed or higher. quite a few very positive. So the players disagree with you hard... Maybe you're just not really into video games?
>several of them are mixed reviews
b-b-but it's 75%!
No, they're trash anon. Plenty of much better higher rated $3 or less games.
>game is BAD!!!
>no other game to recommend
Why do you homosexuals do this?
there are none that are mixed reviewed. I filtered out anything below 75%. wtf are you talking about?
One of them literally only has 4 reviews with no average yet. And some of them are completely dead unity "mmos" wtf is this
I'm pretty certain the mmo has reviews from literally this month from people who spoke to the dev about the updates he has planned. The dev has been active on the game for years? Are you just intentionally trying to not read shit or am I missing something?.
Are you intentionally trying to shill your shovelware? You should reimburse every anon you trick into buying this shit.
lmao its one dollar. wtf are you even on about. You are way too mad for this topic.

Dungeon Manager ZV and its sequels
It's in the name, dungeon-maker-sim-defense. It starts out simple, but gets really complex fast. I know it's not on sale but I've only seen it talked about once in Ganker and that was when the anon was shilling it to me. It's a cool game, if you can't stomach the price, wait for it to go on sale.

That's what you were thinking, right?
its clear you just can't properly judge any truly underground indie game. You seem to care more about the review count, price, and I'm guessing graphics then you do about fricking gameplay so there was never any chance of you liking most indie games. But why even come to this thread of thats the care?
I came here for actual good games, and you have failed to provide any despite claiming you're looked through every game on steam $3 and lower.
Quite fishy these are the ONLY GOOD GAMES you could recommend and they're all shit. How much are they paying you? I'm sure McD's would be an upgrade for you.

highly unlikely

Keep dodging the question big man. Too scared to post your gaming preferences on an anonymous thread that's about to be archived.
Armored Head

You're a joke
No anon you don't understand. Anons posting obscure titles in the hidden gems thread is blatant shilling and he must defend the threads honor.
If they're bad, I can't imagine why anyone would share them here unless they're profiting somehow.
Why would anyone recommend a bad game here you fricking homosexual? We're all looking for interesting games here and that's exactly what the thread is for.
>majority of people in this thread are against me, better double down and call them shills and devs of the games
Just have a nice day. Your parents, everyone that ever was unfortunate enough to have met you, everyone will feel like a weight on their shoulder is lifted if you're gone.
I doubt there's more than like 2 anons who would seethe this hard after being called out.
and you failed. none of these are interesting.
I just don't care about the games that that Anon posted.
None of them are my cup of tea. I just like to tell you to off yourself. That is all.
likewise. Maybe we'll have less bait in the catalog if you stopped posting bad games one can only hope
I'm going to dump some niche shit recommended to me. If any anon played any of these let me know if they're good.

You are incredibly gay and probably should have a nice day.

Generally we explain why it's a good game.
Using an argument as stunning as "meme game" and refunding it in 30 minutes is fishing for (you)s.
Northern Journey, Lost in Vivo and Killer7 are all fantastic. Golden Light is unique but not very fun to play
This bad boy. never had more fun breakinga game before. not many first person roguelites around, too

What are some hidden stealth games?
Thanks anon I'll try it.
Same anon who replied to you. Since this is a stealth game is combat mandatory? Or are there sequences where you have to shoot your way out?
You can play the entire game stealth, levels are quite large and have multiple routes leading to objectives like entering through windows or vents. There is a loadout screen at the beginning of every level and you can choose a variety of guns, gadgets and equipment. Some are for going loud, others for pure stealth.
Bought that bundle on fanatical.
Let's see how the game is.
recommend me some weird, obscure, wacky japanese games.

Steam has a lot of porn.

why is the best porn forbidden from the common man?
It's like staring into the ark of the covenant

Can i offer a dungeon crawler that reminds me of the old SMT games? The music could use a bit more oomf but it works, the game has challenge but its not Etrian Odyssey CBT levels and your party is fully customizable even during exploration you can change what skills to bring all the time.
The translation sometimes bugs out but it fine 95 percent of the time, its also on the switch but for double the price.
>dungeon crawler

getting real tired of this but unfortunately only japs make wizardry-likes
It is very anime yes, id say its worth a pirate cuz 20 bucks even on sale can be a bit too much, very lightweight and can probably run on a potato.

Really great roguelike that's set in space. Has multiple win conditions. You can do questlines for 7 or 8 factions, do one for everyone, find the amulet of tyendor and some other endings i forgot.
I had this on my wishlist for a while but $10 for a roguelike when I can play (most for free or already own most of the steam tradroguelikes) doomrl, tome+dlc or even dcss seems a bit too much
It's worth the $10 tho
Anyways, on to the next game:

All Day Dying
Indie shooter, mostly scored based with some objectives for each level. Tries to be rather free form and yet strict in that you do create your own path and strategy in maps that feel like could be multiplayer maps instead of linear straight levels, but has a very strong penalty where it doesn't let you just wing it.

Basically indie VTMB in a bootleg WoD setting, I played it many years ago when it was only in beta and it was already pretty good. It's made by one guy so don't expect much but it should scratch that vampire RPG itch that every other dev keeps missing.
Definitely will play this game, always looking for vampire games. Thanks anon.
Word of advice anons.
Don't go crazy on cheap games or you'll end up with a pile of shit you will never play.
there are good games that are cheap and there are bad ones.

Negative reviews are the way to go
If you see Chink runes, or casuals getting filtered, you know the game is good
That's why I read reviews man.

Also real time shadows were ahead of their time when it released.

speaking of walking sims I got this for 50 cents.
Is it worth the current price? I was dissuaded by another anon because of it
I personally think it's worth it. But I'm a sucker for the artstyle and the writing. It's getting some free DLCs over the course of the next few months that'll expand the story. I fully recommend it, but it's all up to whether you like these types of story games.
I was interested because of the almost Ruiner look and the TTRPG angle, how's replayability?
I've gotten three replays out of it. There isn't a gigantic variety of branches like in Disco Elysium but there's a lot of different endings, all with good writing. The music is great. I'd say it's worth 16 bucks, easily. I've gotten 15ish hours out of it so far.
good riddance. This thread was a flop. Next thread can we keep it clean from shitty indian devs trying to hustle their connect the dot 10 review mixed games.
undernaut looks fine but not worth my cash. other 2 are failures, idk why someone wasted part of their life span "developing" them.
I will rape you where you stand.
I'm hunting for indie Metroidvanias, I remember seeing one years ago that was about a pixel-art succubus who had amazing jiggle physics, anyone know the one I'm talking about? All other cheap gem metroidvania recs welcome as well

Way to bump the thread
so easy with these shill devs. They MUST increase their sales count by 4.
Maybe I already did hm? You didn't consider that? Maybe I shitposted a bad game and blended right in with you clowns?
>maybe
Ahahahahahahahahahaha it's over homosexual
yeah it's over for you. You're welcome for your enlightenment. Maybe broaden your horizons to actual good games.
Which are? Oh wait, you're a literal coward. Aahahahah
>posts a gif of "who asked?" while asking.
Cringe. You've clearly lost your mind.
I want you to buy the shit game I recommended as punishment. Buy it shill and wallow in your own shit pile.
Stay mad homie. I really do hope you bought one of my games. "Highly unlikely" ahahahahahahah
ahahaha no
Has more than a 1000 reviews but for the price it's a great pick up

Is the controller support good?
Been a while since I played it, but I used a wired 360 controller. They were a little wonky but I got past it. I'd say give it a go and if it's not your thing just refund it as long as you spend less than two hours
Used to play that shit when I was a kid and it seems that I bought it years ago but forgot about it. Will play it and see how the controls are, maybe someone has a fix for it.
Seem to be a guide up that you just copy and paste

Comfy tower defense vs liquid. All the Creeper World games are pretty good tho.
