DSP was right all along. That's the saddest part. People made a huge deal about Kojima moving to Sony but his studio got shuttered and now he has nothing.

Since when was Kojima Productions shuttered? They're working on a new game for Xbox, I thought.

They are. Kojima probably has more budget than ever now with Microsoft.

Don't forget they're working on DS2 too. Kojipro is doing just fine.

Keep crying standingcucks, your tears are delicious.

    >The worst written characters in any video game ever.
    >ZERO challenge.
    >Game is tricking you into thinking you're enjoying just walking.
    >Praised by gaming journalists, forgotten by real gamers.
    >Kojima tricked you into buying the game again but worse.

It's ok to accept your own feelings.

      >>The worst written characters in any video game ever.

all better written than MGS2 Raiden

Nah Last of Us is far worse writing
Also DS somehow has more engaging gameplay than LoU despite being a walking sim

Mr. Creatividad definitely is beyond me now. But DS was the third strike. The first 2 being MGS4 and MGSV.

I love how Death Stranding is really just a big budget take on the indie walking simulator genre, but morons lap it up because le ebin kojimbo made it. It's shit. I would call it a shit game, but it's not a game. It's just shit.

      Anonymous

I actually don't like the usual indie walking sim narrative games, but loved DS. Since most of what you do is just moving through the world, they actually put effort into making traversal engaging. You can't just hold W, you have to plan routes, manage your inventory and actually pay attention to where you step. But it's not for everyone.

      Anonymous

It definitely feels like an indie game with a AAA budget but it's nothing like what people call walking sims like Firewatch, Gone Home etc where you're spoonfed a narrative while walking a set path. If anything it has more in common with Eurotruck Sim or something.

    >DIRECTOR'S CUT
It usually implies the "original cut" wasn't cut by the director, which is often the case with movies. That's not the case here, HIDEO KOJIMA DIRECTED A GAME BY HIDEO KOJIMA, the original game is already the "director's cut", this new "DIRECTOR'S CUT BY HIDEO KOJIMA DIRECTED BY HIDEO KOJIMA" is fricking bullshit, just call it DLC.

Yes it's just a silly marketing move that Sony has been leaning into. I figured I might as well get the extra content though for a second playthrough.

Kojima wanted to call it Director's + specifically for the reason you cited. But sony said it would confuse players and made him call it Director's Cut.

Is kojima a good person or not? You think he cheated on his wife

        Anonymous

Let's put it this way- have you ever seen his wife? I doubt she even exists but Kojima is gay and hiding it from the public. He and Mads were frequentlling glory holes in LA.

          >have you ever seen his wife? I doubt she even exists
Have you ever seen Todd Howard's wife? Or any other vidya developer's wife or kids? This is a stupid argument-why would vidya developers show their family to toxic fans anyway ?
Kojima has kids, anon. And his wife got a divorce about 20 years ago.

          >He and Mads were frequentlling glory holes in LA.

Kojima had literally to pay Mads to take a picture with him. They aren't friends and they didn't even go eat together let alone visit a prostitutehouse.

I still think MGS3 is the game where he struck the best balance between personal expression and accessibility. Death Stranding is more one of those late career projects that feel indulgent and possibly tedious if you aren't completely on the creators wavelength. I didn't, but that's because I am. Compared to the (good) Metal Gears it's harder to get into due to its slow pace and the way it deemphasizes action.

Death Stranding is unironically a good game.
Also it managed to do something no other game has done. The asynchronous multiplayer got better as the dust settled and fewer people were left playing, because synced objects are fewer between and more logically placed. There's still a ton of cinstructs filling up the map but now there are less random bridges and shit in the middle of nothing that some redditor decided to put in because lol so random and had his social media goon squad rate it to the max so it shows up in everyone's game.

Why are cucks so triggered by death stranding?
    >Non-white characters are genuine character rather than representation quota caricatures.
    >The atmospheric feel is good.
    >The environments are well designed.
    >Traversal is well designed.
    >Exosuits, bikes, trucks, ziplines, etc...
    >Combat to appeal to shootergays.
    >Stealth to appeal to quietgays.
    >Map design and objectives designed in a way to naturally encourage non-linear navigation for tacicalgays.
    >Inventory management for OCDgays.
    >Secret unlockables and collectibles.
    >No cash shop.
    >No microtransactions.
    >No always online.
    >Desperate cucks still going "BAWWWW!!! WALKING SIMELETOR!"
So what is it? Is it because it's Kojima? Because I also think he's a hack, but I'm not a little b***h that would shit on a decent game just because I'm not a fan of the person that made it. How insecure do you have to be to hate on a game that does everything right in the age when the industry is flooded with games that are all games as a service pay to win shitfests? Is that is? Is it because you're a literal fricking child that needs instant gratification and a way to spend your mommy's paycheck for the game to be considered good in you frickwitted mind? Or do you think anyone is actually fricking amused by you acting like a god damn moron?

I set some limitations at some points in the game and it really felt tense but immensely rewarding.
The biggest one was when I had to deliver a huge number of packages and planned a course and I decided to walk the whole time (laid out the course with pic related), planned the trip along with the tools I needed for each type of terrain as well as prepare for any enemy encounters. Didn't use any vehicles or zip lines. Near the end I got attacked by BTs at every turn but managed to keep all my packages in more or less good condition and finished with a well deserved bath at the hot springs.
It's not something the game acknowledges sadly but it made the whole thing really satisfying to pull off.

        >Why can't I just build whole cities.
Your idea is shit, anon. Like I don't want to attack you personally but god damn dude. There are plenty of settlement building games and they've all been shit. And Death Stranding is not a bad game. So to make it worse with settlement building, fricking why?
Also what do you mean "A true open world" The frick does that even mean?

          Anonymous

I think he means ''no ubisoft towers or checkpoints'' which is a talking point constantly regurgitated when people want to criticize open world even when it doesn't make sense in the game they're criticizing.

It's a fever dream. It does a whole lot really well, and some things are fricking braindead and idiotic. He lacks the talent and determination to be on the level of someone like Tarkovsky, but wants the acclaim. He also wants to be cool and be friends with all sorts of Hollywood celebrities, but can't pull that off either. Still he has enough pull and boneheadedness to put out unique concepts we wouldn't see otherwise. They are always severely flawed, however.

What does this "directors cut" even add or change? I thought it was just a final patch, but i see it costs money

Adds a new set of side missions in the first area that elaborate a bit more on the bridge baby project and Fragile's origins.
Adds an all-purpose exosuit that's kind of a mid-point between all the others, boosting strength, speed, and carrying capacity but not nearly as much as any of the specialized ones. a cargo catapult that let's you launch and parachute packages accross distance, something like one to one and a half zone-s length is max. A jump ramp, a footbridge made out of chirilium which is super cheap on resources and about the width of a human but doesn't work during timefall, delivery bot you can build as a vehicle so it can follow you and you can ride it. A bunch of new nightmares, some new cosmetics like BB pod skins. A roadster and a constructible racetrack with timetrials and shit behind timefall farms. Beating normal time trials gets you the roadster blueprint, finishing all time trials gets you the long distance roaster blueprint and getting S rank in all time trials gets you the golden roadster blueprint. I think a couple new guns.

I think he means ''no ubisoft towers or checkpoints'' which is a talking point constantly regurgitated when people want to criticize open world even when it doesn't make sense in the game they're criticizing.

But death stranding doesn't have ubisoft towers?

        >But death stranding doesn't have ubisoft towers?
Anything can be a ubisoft tower if you want to criticize the game. For example the facilities could be called ubisoft towers because it's a location that's part of your objectives where you can place your shit and you can get rewards and rest there.

This game certainly has its flaws, but it's easily one of the most unique and interesting games to come out in ages. The terrain mechanics are great and could really be applied to more games -- for instance, Sonic Frontiers would be much more interesting if going over rocks etc affected his momentum. Personally, it's my third favorite Kojima game, behind MGS2 and 1.
