No, you want to be Guts or be someone like him or any of the heroes you read about. It's different from looking at a character and saying "this person represents me". It's not a matter of looks, men can identify with someone who looks nothing like themselves. The real reason why guys don't 'self-insert' as N is because he's a victim and for most of BW1 all of his actions are informed by lies somebody else told him. He's certainly sympathetic and interesting, the perfect "I can fix him" candidate for Yumejos to pine over, but there's virtually nothing about him which young men can find heroic or aspirational or identifiable.
