How do you respond without sounding mad? Keep in mind that having a single transmutation spell will trigger Zone of Truth if you try to deny the accusation.

    >"Him, guardsman. He's the shapeshifter!"
Guardsmen aren't a part of my games, because they're busy protecting their nobles, and my games are about exploration and tactical combat versus monsters.
    There also aren't any shapeshifters.
    >transmutation spell

They don't sound like things that are in an actual game.

I don't respond, I wouldn't be in that situation; because I refuse to put myself in a situation where I'm sitting at a table where people pretend to play a game. I already tried it, it wasn't fun.

The few structures in place to test player skill and luck are superceded by rule 0, which is DM whim that may be invoked at any time.
        It's not a game.

Rule 0 exists in every roleplaying game, even if not codified. It is inescapable outside of GMs who specifically disclaim it--but, even then, that is a choice made at an individual level, not part of the game itself. And that can also be done within D&D.

And this is precisely why D&D is shit, the fact you can accuse anybody of anything and that it's 100% believable because of how schizophrenic the setting is and not the fun kind, having magic be available everywhere all at once that can do anything instantly and how none of this shit matters anyway because you can either roll high or fight your way out of any situation unless the DM wants to put you on railroads which will be very obvious when it happens.

Kek this is literally my experience. Played a changeling bard with the intention of being a super sneaky and manipulative guy, put most of my resources into deception and persuasion.

Then anyone meaningful I could persuade or deceive seemed to have some of truth and true sight. Upon realizing two very common spells nullified my entire character idea I just kind of waffled about trying to help the party in little ways.

In the last palladium game I played, my shapeshifter was the heads guardsman. He was hired to assassinate the man and then nearly got caught in the middle so he shapeshifted into the guardsmen and after living the man's life for a while, decided he liked it and just kept going. He had to fake a debilitating weakness in order to cover up his lack of melee combat abilities
