I don't know man, I always remember WRPGs being horny.
Thinking back to Fallout 2 where you had the brothel in New Reno, the ability to become a literal porn star, how you could end up in a shotgun wedding due to banging some chick, and how playing a female character basically meant that half of your problems could be "fixed" by offering sex (see Myron). That, or Planescape: Torment which has you playing as this mottled looking ghoul yet still have scene where you have Annah basically dry humping you after a few dialogue checks, not to mention the abundance of dirty humor overall.
I do agree that Bioware made it more of a staple where party members always mean some form of romance/culmination of the romance, but RPGs have always been pretty horny. It's why you have the classic bikini-clad warrior girls on covers for most older RPGs. See Elder Scrolls Arena for an example, or basically any fantasy game/movie/book cover back then.
Nerds are horny and make horny games. It's a bit annoying when it's sometimes forced on you, but that's just bad pacing/writing then.
Gen X nerds were horny as shit. Honestly everything from the early 2000s was very overtly sexual, games, movies, TV, ads, all of it... and it was glorious! Our modern hellhole started on college campuses, that was where those who hated the state of the world back then (mainly feminists and gays) took shelter and built their follower base that they then sent out to destroy the world. Honestly, all of us should just adopt their playbook and all apply to be teachers/college professors at the same time. Whoever controls the next generation controls the future.

I feel like a lot of the nsfw content today is made by people who either have never had sex, or have had so much sex that their brains have been fried and they no longer know how to portray how men and women interact in a healthy sexual encounter. There's no buildup, nothing to get you interested in a character besides their looks, which is a vapid way to look at relationships in general. Take KOTR, teasing Bastilla was fun, listening to her squirm as you take a dominant role in the conversation was something you don't really see anymore. At some point, "We'll bang, okay?" became the standard instead of fleshed out subplots.
The early 2000s was also more oddly sincere about it's horniness. Take Hollywood, everyone in the industry knew what people like Harvey Weinstein and Dan Schneider were doing back then. But it like a global scale good ol' boys network, everybody knew, but there was no social media back then to put someone on blast. Everything sexual now just feels disingenuous and forced, NSFW content feels like it's being made by children pretending to act like adults.
