I don't think you get just how big the Harry Potter intellectual property is in popular culture. The prospect of a high fidelity game where you get to become a student at hogwarts and create your own character is seriously enough for a large amount of people to drop $500 on a console for 1 game.
To those same people Zelda shares the same space as Mario and Pokemon as kids or nerd games. If they're not already into videogames they aren't going to give Zelda a shot, though they probably will give Harry Potter a shot.
