Unrelated question, has anyone gotten Black Ice to work on Windows 11?
I can only get the older version to work. I can't get the newer version to work. It would just crash during the loading screen.

Were you using aux ships or proper landing craft to attack? The former is rather poor for opposed landings. I prefer to land on the province next to the port, it’s less likely for the AI to guard it and the supplies that appear when you land are usually enough to last while you attack the port from the land.

Yep, had proper landing craft. Aircraft supporting the invasion, naval bombardment. All of it was overshadowed by the UK getting their insane homeland defense bonus

that's perfectly reasonable. my main complaint with Hoi4 is how Sealion is way, way too easy. The alternative is to give the UK literally 100 Home Guard divisions that can't move.

no it isn't reasonable and such divisions exist they're called garrison divisions and they're basically incapable of moving unless you redeploy
moreover the idea that the home guard would actually be able to stand up to real soldiers is just absurd and >inb4 fortifications because fortifications are modelled by fortifications not arbitrary bonuses
the thing which makes sealion difficult is and should be logistics hoi4 fumbles this because boats are just completely moronic in that but in hoi3 it's perfectly possible to totally starve troops of supplies in fact it's such a powerful strategy it's outright broken
and on that topic, abusing logistical bombing breaks hoi3 but even if you choose not to do that air power becomes massively important later on

Germany can get a 200% boost to IC for the atlantic wall, the AI uses it to build units instead.

I only did it many versions ago. Back then you needed to build up the infrastructure in Poland and have a few specialized fortress buster divisions to take the main Soviet cities, otherwise the defnder bonus will make it almost impossible. Never played at a higher difficulty than normal though.

You can't. Black Ice is a realistic and historically accurate mod. Germany simply is supposed to lose just like in real life. If anyone claims to have beaten the Soviets as Germany, it's because they cheated.

Bice is the only mod In all hois that makes the USA a endboss industrial juggernaut with endless resources. Like it should be. In base hoi3 and 4 (2is for kids and 1 is for retirement homes) the USA is underwhelming and hardly a threat. In 3 BICE its a wienerroach that survives nuclear strikes and finds ways to reproduce and replace tanks and aircraft carriers that should frighten even the best unit micromanager. They’re truly terrifying. The UK and Soviet Union are side theaters for BICE axis. The USA needs preparation from the very start of the game.

Offense is the best defense. As Germany a large navy and veteran troops is important. USA will be on the same page as far as technology is concerned In BICE, sending veteran armor to plains in Texas, vet infantry to the urban east coast, and marines to the Florida swamps(you can cheese a bit here) is a good idea.
Cuba is a useful air and naval base. Invade there and build up the ports and air bases. Your interceptors should have more experience and a brief advantage. If Japan stays alive they will tie up alot of naval and air assets. Italy is Italy, but if they don’t take too much of a beating from UK naval forces a you take initiate for them, they should have the strength to assist you. Use the war goal on a us east coast victory point and if the Italian navy is still alive they will drop a few corps or even an army to assist you. And that will come with air support and a navy to support thier supply line. The rest will be small victories, use rivers and mountains to build defensive lines in the USA and concentrate forces for encirclements, even one or two divisions deleted is a victory.japan may build enough steam to invade the west coast if you’re lucky, BICE ai is better at invading.
