Great game, slow start though and you'll do quite a lot of backtracking and walking since the game world is huge and fast travel limited. It's for patient people.
On surface level from the eye of a brainlet can look qualitatively high quality but on technical stand point it's really nothing remarkable. The reality of fact is that it's nothing more than a generic simplistic side scroller like many other with the difference that it has effort on static backgrounds which are also often reused trough the entire game and this was just the result of someone who already has experience in doing art like this because of it's experience by having a career in film making. Hollow knight as a videogame isn't that impressive and doesn't do anything special or technically impressive to be considered more than just an indie since nowadays there are tons of indie studios that came out of nowhere and are making literal clones of basically same quality if not superior.
It occupies that spot right next to Shovel Knight of being THE best indie has to offer. The start is boring but I've always found it to be pretty calming before getting into the rest of the game, from there it is a standard metroidvania. The main draw most have is the charm system, where upgrades you feel like you need everywhere are locked behind equippable charms you need to switch out frequently
I like it but the boss battles are kind of not very interesting compared to the rest of the game. I got to the castle section and stopped playing never beat the final boss
in terms of bang for your bucks it's one of the best deals possible.
it's a very solid metroidvania, don't bother listening to jaded Gankeriggers and give it a try and it's free on gog-games if you are unsure
I dropped it like 3 or 4 hours in after I beat that hornet boss
The game is just too easy, none of the bosses are hard or anything like that, it's all clutch fights. People on the internet will say the good stuff is on the DLCs, but you have to beat the main campaign to reach that point (12 hours in)
I wouldn't call the game too easy but then again the appeal of the game isn't it's difficulty. But yes the final DLC adds fairly tough challenges that I have yet to beat.
5/5 game, might be my favourite ever and I was someone who really disliked 2d platformers and never saw how they could be considered good. If you like Dark Souls 1 and think it is the best souls game then you will really appreciate what Hollow Knight has to offer. Best value for money game I've had from a single player game. You should get it, just don't read any spoilers.
I agree with the peak interconnection. I can't recall another game that bridges areas so perfectly. Like the path from Fog Canyon into Queen's Gardens has flowers with bubbles growing from them, which is a small detail but I think its neat.
Just look in this thread, there's plenty of people shitting on it and when I mentioned it a month back it was the same shit. Some people like it but there's the usual contrarians saying it's awful reddit shit.
>shitting on it
there's one guy with an overall negative opinion and a few who aren't singing complete songs of praise you knob >contrarians
or heaven forbid they just don't like it
I found that travel significantly decreases once you get the dream nail portal and you place it next to a fast travel location. It never really takes more than a few minutes to get anywhere from those.

once you get half the stags going then travel stops being an issue, once all of them are collected it is a simple matter of knowing where you need to be, using the stag, then walking through like 3 rooms
>dev nerfs basegame mobs and bosses in order to release harder bosses as free postgame DLC >new players shit on the game as "too easy/boring" and shittalk
I can say cherry team deserves it
I liked it
I got it for free thoughever (I won it in a contest, I didn't pirate it if that's what you're thinking)
I was thinking you pirated it but I'm glad that's not the case.
oof, thank god, anon. I got a bit scared for a second there
damn you stressed me out, anon

It's only the best game ever made
probably the only good "indie" game ever made.
>"indie"
Why the question mark?
Because it's higher in quality that any metroidvania before it while only being made by 2(+1) people

Don't laugh... Don't laugh...

BWAHAHAHAHA
solid 7/10 game.
I like it but the boss battles are kind of not very interesting compared to the rest of the game. I got to the castle section and stopped playing never beat the final boss
The best hollowania game ever created.
in terms of bang for your bucks it's one of the best deals possible.
it's a very solid metroidvania, don't bother listening to jaded Gankeriggers and give it a try and it's free on gog-games if you are unsure
If you're not a complete moron the base game offers zero challenge whatsoever. It's still good but it's not as good as many would lead you to believe.

yes
its the peak interconnection and exploration of the genre
(this map only shows the shapes of rooms, not their platforms and other structural contents)
Shouldn't have spoilt that for him imo

see for yourself homosexual
Ganker doesn't like to admit it but HK has the exploration platformer genre completely mogged, nothing from the 21st century comes even close.
Just look at the Steam player count of this six year old singleplayer sidescroller at any given time.
>Ganker doesn't like to admit it
Ganker collectively deepthroats this game whenever it is mentioned

Yes, that means Ganker hates it
in these people(redditors)s' eyes*
No, it has artificial exploration which is bad.
it's kino
Bought it on PC and then later on the Switch. It's the only game I was willing to buy on both platforms, so yea
Yes.
I loved the game but there should've been more QoL features like fast travel between benches and improved map

If you like the idea of a (for better or worse) slow starting exploration based 2d platformer with lots of bosses and side content then yes
Is Silksong going to be different in its progression?
>dev nerfs basegame mobs and bosses in order to release harder bosses as free postgame DLC

Yes.
