>hates metroidvania Games
>try hk for the third time
>first time greenpath
Yeah I think i like this game.
Are all other metroidvanias shit or do I just like bugs more than I hate the genre?

why is one hollow knight poster so upset that dread was god tier
Is dread good? Never cared about any metroidvania before. I hate the gameplay loop in general. Hate going to dead ends multiple times and have to come back if I get specific items/abilities.
For now I mostly enjoy the artstyle and world of Hollow Knight. Maybe I’ll look into dread after that
NTA but Dread is great
>god tier
I liked it but come on
I had the same god damn charm loadout the entire time playing hollow knight. the fricking exploration wasnt fricking worth it, whats the point?
Why even have health upgrades if its supposed to be a shitty 2d darksouls where healing is not conventional anyway and you are just expected to memorize every attack in the game?
ooo do I get a bunch of attack range, attack speed, and flat damage playstyles? nah frick you. you get like 1 badge of each. who fricking cares what you try to build unless its magic.
FAVORITE CHARM?
FOR ME IT'S QUICKSLASH
Also does anyone know if pic related can be used efficiently? I've trying it out a couple times, but it never sticks around.
You're supposed to give it to Hornet

The first hour of Hollow Knight is one of the only bad parts of the game, why the frick would you like it?
Started playing Hollow Knight 3 times. The first I didn’t get past crossroads and hated it. This time I finally managed to get to greenpath and love the game since then.
The first two times*
Hollow Knight is one of those games that just gets better and better as it goes along. The quality just keeps increasing up until the very end.
It makes sense, the game started as a simple game jam project so the beginning of the game is very simple compared to where it ends up.
I want to give it a chance but the art style repulses me on a fundamental level
Then don’t bother. The art style is the best thing about this game
if you mean specifically the design of the knight and hornet, there's good lore reasons for them looking somewhat out of place. if you mean dirtmouth/crossroads the rest of the game is significantly prettier.
I think he means the contrast between the simple character designs and the complex backgrounds is off-putting.
>want to like the game
>bad at it, all fingers and thumbs when it comes to keyboard movement
>get filtered by Mantis Lords two-on-one
Who plays Hollow Knight on a keyboard? It's much better on controller.
I do. Beat the whole game. Why do people think you need a controller for this kind of game?
Me.
There's literally nothing about this game that needs a controller or works better with a controller.
everything in the game plays better with a controller, pc gays that still dont use controllers out of some misplaced pride and stupidity... for games that the devs themselves literally say are made for controller no less... are kinda moronic..
The controls are all digital input, which keyboards do just fine.
It's not about pride or loyalty, I have a controller that I use for many games, but this is not a game that benefits from having a controller at all.
>You MUST go and buy a controller to play a game you can already play just fine for some perceived insignificant benefit which will be lost on you anyway because you're much more proficient with a keyboard!
Pretty sure all the top speed runners play using the keyboard.
>Movement lacks momentum, stick sensitivity, button sensitivity or anything like that.
>Combat is incredibly simplistic.
How would keyboard not be superior to controller?
Did you upgrade your nail yet? You'll have a much easier time with them.
I did but the issue was a few too many blunders into attacks I should've avoided that kept me from finishing them off. Same issue with the Brooding Mawlek too.
Try Symphony of the Night. It's another good introduction to the genre.
Some other good ones are Blasphemous, Axiom Verge, Ori. Try those out.
I heard of sotn and already bought blasphemous. Good suggestions
>first time greenpath
That's the shit man.
I didn't think much of HK in the first area, but when I got to greenpath I knew I was going to like this game.
Yeah every area after crossroads was awesome so far.
Not a fan of wonder boy artstyle but ender lilies looks really good
Maybe you like the graphics and atmosphere. Take a look at Monster Boy and Ender Lilies, they have that animated art style.
How was I meant to know what to do here
ha ha I get it its the meem with the angry man
I dun geddit
Some homosexual kept making threads about some no name youtuber who got angry at that part of the game and called it "dishonest game design" because he got filtered by having to learn how to downward slash the mushrooms to make the jump
Hollow Knight is the peak of the hollow like genre. Every metroidvania that came before was rough and dated and everything after Hollow Knight (now called hollow likes) were cheap imitations
Though I haven’t played dread, I’ve heard that’s very good but just based off what I have seen it doesn’t come close to capturing the soul of Hollow Knight
And now we know team cherry will save the industry again within the next 12 months. Metroidgays will cry and seethe but it’s amazing two Australian autists can completely BTFO giant corporations with extremely famous IP’s
>One of the worst games in a genre is the only good one for you
No OP, you just don't like metroidvanias.
>you just don't like metroidvanias.
Well I know. I stated that I hate them in fact. Until hollow Knight tho. Still hate the constant dead ends and running back tho
