Weird how Ultimate, the supposedly ultimate Smash game and vidya crossover, only had characters interacting in the opening animation.
Did they blow all their money on reveal trailers?
thats what I'm saying, I really wish they didn't spend their cg budget all on character trailers for YTgays to soijak to online, frick hype culture, wish we actually a campaign with scenes that are in context with said campaign or at very least make them intros

entire subspace emissary got leaked online before brawl came out, sakurai was pissed and i guess continues to be to this day

I think it may also be because the game has too many third party characters now and they would have to get approval for everything they do/how they are portrayed on a story mode
Smash sells because of the roster, they can't just bring everyone back then cut over 20% of the roster. If they have to cut 3rd parties, they'd probably cut the Squeenix reps (except maybe Hero) and maybe one or two from Konami, Sega and Microsoft.
might as well not make a fricking game then since everyone's going to upload LPs of it
what a fricking Black person excuse made by a Black person dev that's repeated on loop by Black person players
Yeah, enemy variety is ass. They could've used the Meta-Knights for the Halberd segments and Zelda enemies in general given Ganondorf's influence in the plot.
I kind of liked the primids but everything else just felt like edgy kirby enemies. smash run had way better variety, although having like a dozen fricking kid icarus mobs versus like 2 fricking earthbound or dk enemies was pretty fricking dumb too
ultimate having the regular fighters be controlled by a fricking jpeg is a thousand times worse than either though, still feels like such an awful fricking idea.
>Adventure Mode >Subspace Emissary >Smash Run >World of Light/World of Darkness
When will Sakurai realize that the best part of Smash is being a crossover platformer with a vague chuuni story, and prioritize that over the competitive community?
Subspace Emissary was a huge disappointment at the time of release but it's better then nothing unfortunately.
It's like what happened when Dragon Ball GT 1st aired everybody trashed it and thought it was absolute dog shit but once Super came out and turned out even worse by a huge margin people started to realize GT wasn't so bad after all. Same shit here.
Did you just play it for the first time or what
Yes it was back when smash bros was soulful and sakurai cared more about quality singleplayer, rather than inserting literally who third party characters.
It was fun. Sucks they never did it again. Ultimates campaign or wtfever you want to call it was alright but it wasnt subspace. And i also lost interest and never completed it but thats a me thing I think.
There's no point in making a new Smash if we don't get another one of these. I don't care about 50 non-nintendo characters that I will play as for 5 minutes. Give me a new Subspace.
I never "got it".
The big thing is a bunch of mediocre cutscenes with unrelated characters vaguely working together.
Shit, you don't need smash for that., every fanboy that knew how to make flash animations made barrels of these.
>worse than every single kirby game ever made, but it wants to be a kirby game >everyone says its kino exclusively because of the shitty cutscenes and crossovers >bosses are just damage sponge simon says fights
literally only zoomers have nostalgia for this trash
>this is what zoombies actually, unironically believe
I'm 25
Oldest zoomies are turning 26. Or 28. Depends on whether you go with the '97 or '95 cutoff.
>12 when brawl came out
yeah, i'm thinking zoomie
>trying too hard
For anyone else seeing it, it's bait. Don't feed. Lurk moar.
I really liked it but I was 12 years old at the time
Zoomers grew up with 4 and Ultimate.
t. zoomer
Yes?
I'm 33 and I thought it was the most fun thing in any of the smash games, I also loved all the boss fights in ultimate, that's it.

I don't care
Get back to work sakurai sub count growing sir

they'll probably downscale for the next one so maybe it'll be more viable then

I love it when my crossover game story consists of countless scenes of characters nodding at each other and a 99% OC enemy lineup
The 99% oc enemy lineup ain’t bad. I thought the specimen room on the halberd where I can look at them all was so cool and made me appreciate them.

It gave us some cute character interactions, so I agree
YOU JUST KNOW
know what?
I wish I was that rat.

I bought Ultimate purely because I thought it would have another kino adventure mode
Boy was I fricking disappointed
thanks doc
>play Melee for many hours
>finally unlock all the characters
>see this
No moment in any subsequent smash game was quite as cool as this.
Stop with the melee. Its over its surpassed. N64 had better unlock moments.
>Stop with the melee. Its over its surpassed. N64 had better unlock moments.
Now that's just nonsense
>shit tier kirby game with cringe cutscenes
take off your nostalgia goggles

Are you calling fricking Sora and Minecraft Steve literally who’s?
I've wanted Erdrick in Smash since 64, and not only did I get Erdrick, I also got Terry (as the alt pallet for Eight).
DQ was my most wanted and he got not only one of the longest and best trailers but also 4 separate skins
It's completely fricking dogshit. Anyone that says otherwise hasn't played since they were a kid or is sub 80 iq.

How could they improve this mode if it had made a return?
What website is that from?

All of it was kino including (and especially) the Great Maze.
I never "got it".

Why do people still pretend SSE was good?
