This is pretty bad, especially when this is a best case scenario, in reality about 10 planets will use 90% of those assets and the average planet will only have a few mb of actual assets available to it, the rest will be randomly generated

Are you fricks moronic? Of course planets will share the same asset packs as every game, especially Bethesda games, are designed around asset packs. The data that instructs how those assets are composed can be compressed to a shockingly small file size.
Oh I now understand what you mean. Thank you for explaining this to me. I am a little b***h, ain't I? Please respond to this. Please respond to this post. Tell me if I am a little b***h. Please respond.
Hard drives and SSDs are dirt cheap now. I like in a third world shithole where tech prices are inflated and I can buy a 1TB SSD for 60 dollars. If you live in the first world, you barely need to pay anything to get a shit ton of storage. Stop complaining homosexuals.
most of the filesize comes from uncompressed audio from other languages
it's on purpose, and it's to make you commit to one game, or to convince morons to buy bigger hard drives when they know damn well they could easily make the games size half of what it is.
picking pronouns is fricking stupid. we all know what you are (male or female there are only two genders) by just looking at you. you will never fool anyone, and you will never convince anyone youre something youre not no matter what they say to your face
It's not 2010 anymore you fricking morons, a 4TB HDD is less than a hundred nowandays. Move some of the dozens of games you'll never play off your SSD and install it there.

welp I need to self correct, I build my PC 2 years ago when a fast 4TB SSD was 600+ dollars. now it's 200, which is close to was I paid for my 2TB. wow what the heck happened. I guess I better buy a 4TB and add it onto my PC now.
Probably way bigger than this in practice but because its a next gen only game and requires an SSD it's probably doing the fancy next gen compression/decompression stuff with directstorage.
Borderlands 3 with all the dlc is around 160gb, red dead redemption 2 is around 130gb, Halo MCC is 150gb with everything installed, sadly 125gb is a pretty average file size nowadays
>125 just to download >patches not included
man frick that. developers are fricking stupid. they need to learn how to compress files, and allow people to choose what languages they want to install.
>0.125gb per planet

Space Engine is 5 GB.
>Space Engine is 5 GB.
space engine is fricking amazing. i love it.
As time goes on more storage is needed, this isnjust gonna be the norm from now on. Maybe now 4tb will the standard.

It was a joke obviously you colossal autist
Dead on arrival
This doesn't count.
Oh I now understand what you mean. Thank you for explaining this to me. I am a little b***h, ain't I? Please respond to this. Please respond to this post. Tell me if I am a little b***h. Please respond.
So 10% of my SSD. Not bad for a AAA game.
>heh, you've made me use 10% of my SSD. Not bad, kid.
Isn't every AAA game at least 100GB
Isn't the latest cod over 200GB?

So you are paying 70+ for a game and another 60 on top? Imagine spending three digits to play game
And you can download nearly 10 more 100gb games on your drive, amortize the cost of the drive and each game costs 66 dollars. Wow!
most of the filesize comes from uncompressed audio from other languages
it's on purpose, and it's to make you commit to one game, or to convince morons to buy bigger hard drives when they know damn well they could easily make the games size half of what it is.
tbf all you really need for that game is Campaign, then when you're finished Zombies.
At least they give you some install options, unlike most devs.
>Customizable install
This should be industry standard.
This is what happens when you onions over 4K and realistic graphics
Still fricking stupid that MW and MWII require Warzone, I don't play Warzone, never will and the largest part of the installation is it.
I wish more games gave me the option to pick what I want to install
In greater details than that even.
>RDR2 is 112gb
Wow its like games nowadays are big
they told you it would have a shit load of dialogue bro
It’s a reasonable size for an open world RPG game unlike MW which has no right to have more than 100GB
this industry has just given up, not a single person in charge gives a single frick and it's insane
oh right i forgot all about fallout 76 and that download shitshow. what little i cared about this game has suddenly vanished.
i wouldnt even pirate you.
My SSD doesn't have that much free space and most of it is taken up by the OS
SHIT
Will I really have to buy a new SSD just to run fricking Starfield? Surely it'll actually run ok from an HDD too, right...?
Of course it will run fine of a regular HDD.
>Surely it'll actually run ok from an HDD too, right...?
These games are designed for machines with SSDs so you may have texture streaming issues.
110gigs will be uncompressed .dds textures and audio files and the rest will be the actual game.
Why are storagelets and memorylets always so mad?
I pirated a leaked copy of Skyrim 2 days before it released
it was 4.6GB...
4.6GB
>Skyrim 2
wtf why didn't anyone tell me Skyrim got a sequel???
heh
payday 2 is 83gb
Inquisitor Martyr is 80gb
Killing Floor 2 is 90gb
not really that surprising at all. Devs are moronic now
125GB not that big tbh
Now 300GB I would be pretty mad about
Nah, 300GB is like the bare minimum for AAA games to be good these days.
If it was like 820GB, I could understand some outrage.
troony game
seethe
>muh trannies!!1
it's simple, just use normal pronouns then, chud.
picking pronouns is fricking stupid. we all know what you are (male or female there are only two genders) by just looking at you. you will never fool anyone, and you will never convince anyone youre something youre not no matter what they say to your face
My SSD is ready
Wait till i install big tiddy mods and turn MC into a xxXSpacePussyDestroyerXxx.
Half of my Stalker or a quarter of my fo3 folder
It's not 2010 anymore you fricking morons, a 4TB HDD is less than a hundred nowandays. Move some of the dozens of games you'll never play off your SSD and install it there.
>2020+3
>still using HDDs for gaming
What's your problem?
welp I need to self correct, I build my PC 2 years ago when a fast 4TB SSD was 600+ dollars. now it's 200, which is close to was I paid for my 2TB. wow what the heck happened. I guess I better buy a 4TB and add it onto my PC now.
thanks for letting me know.
This isn't even including the 100 gb day 1 patch
That’s alright I guess, I thought it was gonna be 400 gb or something
WHY DIDNT THEY JUST DO 100 PLANETS. WHY THE FRICK DO THEY THINK US EXPLORING EMPTY PLANETS WILL BE FUN.
FRICKING HELL. JUST DO 5-10 SOLAR SYSTEWMS AND MAKE THE GAME EXTREMELY HANDCRAFTED.
NOBODY WANTS AI GENERATED CONTENT GOD DAMN IT
>meanwhile all of v is circle jerking the game
shills paid to sell the idea the game is worth paying full price for*
If it needs an ssd, why are we supposed to believe it will run on xbox
Think long and hard before you post again.
No tell me homosexual
You can delete a ton of files in this engine without harming the game. Mods will fix it.
>pay $220 for 500gb ssd 10 years ago
>bought 1tb m.2 yesterday for $45
All thanks to what little free market practices we are still allowed.
too bad free market practices can't lower the price of food while increasing the quality.
The game is large because of all the high fidelity assets we have come to expect from Bethesda
Lol wots wrong wit dis ent u homies got hdds? Jus slap ur old games on there baka cant handle the BGB not gonna make it
95% of Ganker won't even be able to run this game on PC.
>implying I won't be playing starfield on my deck
Todd confirmed it will run on Steam Deck, so I'll be playing it on my back porch
Haha yeah if you like it ultra low settings and still barely managing
No he didn't, moron
A 1tb nvme SSD is only like 50 bucks these days.
4tb nvmes when
Probably way bigger than this in practice but because its a next gen only game and requires an SSD it's probably doing the fancy next gen compression/decompression stuff with directstorage.

Isn't that the average data cap per month for an American?
I have multiple games that size installed on my Series X right now
>125 just to download
>patches not included
man frick that. developers are fricking stupid. they need to learn how to compress files, and allow people to choose what languages they want to install.
just wait for the repack
I have 12TB of SSD space and only half of it is filled so I am good
now imagine when it's modded.
