I started with Red. He's right. I remember Fearow less than both Tangla and Seel. Dewgong is noteworthy because of Lorelei and Tangla is because of Erika. You run into Pidgey more often than Spearow and you probably traded your Spearow for Farfetch'd. Fearow is less generic looking and the cooler of the 2 basic birds, but I almost always have Pidgey.
What type would a regional form be?
Dark of they wanna go obvious about it. But honestly Fearow is pretty abstract so they can do whatever they want. I like like the idea of an Electric Fearow. Like it would be dark like a storm cloud and have "angry thunder god" energy like Zebstrika has
But Fearow shouldn't get a regional unless Pigeot also does, and their design/Types should be thematically related to each other somehow. They're a duo.
Game Freak doesn;t really treat them as a duo, they don't have the same number of evolution stages, they've never been version exclusives, we didn't get a Pidgey named Ghana in Gen 2, We didn't get a Mega Fearow in Gen 6. The only thing they hace in common is typing and being Gen 1. IF anything Fearow had more in common with Dodrio.

they treat duos differently all the time. Pidgeot got a mega and fearow didn't. Beedrill got a mega and butterfree didn't. pidgeot and fearow are arguably not even a duo; they've never been shown as a pair. Just two different earlygame bird choices.

Fearow might be up there. My instinct is Venomoth, but ace of Koga and part of that stupid "What if Butterfree and Venomoth switched places" might make it come up. Lickitung is up there, but might be remembered for having the best Pokemon Stadium minigame.
If I had to pick one, I'd probably go with Seaking, but even that Im not super confident in.

Seel and Dewgong take the cake and I don't even think it's close. Other runner ups include Lickitung and Horsea/Seadra but they both have cross-evos. Drowzee and Hypno are also up there imo but

Tangela got an evolution in gen 4, so it's not really forgettable. Goldeen is the pre-evolution of Seaking, so somewhat associated together.
Dewgong is remembered as the most forgettable gen 1 Pokemon, so it ironically loses this status.
I've taken that sporcle quiz where you name every gen 1 pokemon and this motherfricker is the only one I forgot, along with tangela. Besides the stadium minigame and jessie in the anime, who actually remembers this thing?
Me, because it's one of the gen 1s that got an evolution in gen 4. I associate Lickitung, Tangela, Magmar, Electabuzz, Porygon, and Rhydon all together. Jynx too, though it didn't get an evolution like the others.
My vote goes to Drowzee. Everyone remembers Hypno as a memetic molester, but nobody remembers Drowzee.

Really, Fearow's in a pretty good spot in its debut game. You get Spearow early, it gets the two good Flying attacks relatively fast, it has reasonably high attack unlike the Pidgey line or Farfetch'd, and you can trade up to Zapdos once you get access to the Power Plant or Doduo/Dodrio otherwise without skipping a beat. KENYA in 2 also puts in good work.
I always use it in Blue. Why? Because I don’t like the wig of the other bird and also 3 headed fricker is caught later
In Gen 7 they come out of the shaking trees and are aggressive as frick.
I will always remember and hate Fearow because of my most recent run of Blue Rescue Team. There's a bunch of them on the peak of Mt. Blaze and they can OHKO you with a multi-hit attack if you're unlucky, I had that happen to me a ton.

It's Seel and Dewgong. The only reason why people remember them was because TPC dropped a Galar short with Nessa, and there was Dewgong in the background despite being one of the Pokemon culled from the pokedex. They apologized for it.

This is exactly why it's a persona non grata in the franchise, anything that opposes ash and Pikachu are treated like shit, see team rocket pokemon not being catchable in yellow for example

The single most forgettable Gen1 Pokemon? Jynx. They haven't done anything with it other than giving it new moves. Not a single evolution, regional form etc.

Pidgeot is lucky for the Anime cause in game it was trash. Fearow isn't bad but Dodrio is just much better.
