It's a great game, an instant classic. I played it when it was brand new. The sequel is also great.
Wish Valve made new video games more often! The Orange Box made me into a very devoted fan of theirs, and I loved the Left 4 dead games. Alyx and CS2 are the only new Valve games I've been interested in since those.
A mildly interesting tech demo that failed to deliver anything of real substance, other than memes for smooth-brains to parrot non-stop for the next two years.
There are too many of those. I picked up Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari again this year for the first time in a long time and was hit with the sobering realization that the industry has had like two decades to learn from those games but just didn't.
There's plenty. >Games should strive to offer experiences completely unlike anything you can get from other forms of media or real life. >Games can tackle philosophical topics without resorting to being preachy or dour or even making the gameplay take a backseat to the narrative. >More games should be more creative in how they use the industry-standard dual analog controller.
Great game. Short main campaign, so if you're not into it it's over quickly, but has harder variants of each map and challenge modes available for those that want more.
probably the peak of that "classic valve feel" that's all lonely and mysterious. the last section of the game is one of my favorite sequences in any game
one of the best puzzle games ever made but that's not controversial
imo better than 2 because it's so concise and sleek. the lonely atmosphere of 1 feels a lot more novel to me nowadays than 2's sort of fantastical sci-fi dark comedy/adventure bent (but 2 is still great)

Great game and also Gankerermins like this guy should frick off
Youre thinking of Portal 2
basically reddit but with a portal gun
The Orange Box was one of the best deals of all time
Absolute kino
a classic hated by contrarians because people who suck also like it
always was, always will be
It was a cool tech demo. Too bad the tech didn't make it into any games until a decade later
Something like the orange will never happen again, i'm not the nostalgic type but holy shit i long for time where this is possible again.

Valve should make a third one.
On the moon.
Part of the greatest deal in vidya history.
Excellently fun puzzle game that didn't overstay its welcome.
This and portal 2 are the only excellent games valve has ever made
What about TF2 at launch?
team fortress 2 (before the matchmaking update)

I'd take a Portal 3 or a spiritual successor over Half-Life 3 any day.
>I'd take a Portal 3
Closest thing you'll get to that is The Talos Principle.
>no mention of Advanced mode
It’s a great part of the game

I still remember when you find the first survivor hiding place, it disturb me. The cake meme is garbage tho
Cool game that nobody learned from.

what is there to learn?

pretty cool but also very short

Neat idea but like:
>Do first couple of puzzles
>Quickly realize how the puzzles are planned
>Breeze through rest of the game
it alright
