no one is actually "good" at fighting games, they've just learned the order of buttons they should hit for whatever one character they've locked themselves into in the game and hit it over-and-over as fast as possible and claim victory/defeat.

I kinda agree on inputs. What I want is a fighting game where I have to think and maybe learn matchups but execution should never be a significant barrier to a game.
One thing I absolutely despise about Strive is how the game is really primitive yet inputs required for some "high level" stuff are absolutely fricking finger breaking asking you to perform some obscure perfect movement in a split second. At least older Guilty Gear games were insanely deep to justify autistic stuff like that (and even those didn't have shit like frc drift kara bullshit).
Street Fighter has autistic links but at least no half circles outside of grapplers and reversal seems a bit easier to hit.

Tekken 8 will not survive in the long run if they don't fix the netcode and performance issues. There are abundantly enough Tekken diehards that it won't go fully under but we could be seeing another Tag 2 disaster coming. Street Fighter 6 is the healthiest launch of the series for a variety of reasons but absolutely primarily because of true rollback netcode.
