This is a good point, I like the idea of Nate being a terrifying, bloodthirsty and incredibly patriotic soldier during his early years. A legend, the perfect soldier, a Canadian's worst nightmare.

Biased answer, but mods are the solution to everything Bethesda related. If you care to mod it, which is fairly easy, you can get as much or as little in extra value out of it as you want. I think they even have entire ready-to-go modlists on Nexus to make things as novice friendly as possible. And these mods include everything from the average tacticool weaponry to large narrative mods like Tales from the Commonwealth and Sim Settlements 2 (I know, it doesn't sound like a narrative mod). So get it if you are willing to mod it.

Should I finally play fallout 4? I've had it and all it's dlc but never got around to playing it.
I played starfield for 26 hours and got bored when I realized the game was never going to let me really do anything fun and the setting is AFTER a cool ass mecha war.
People can say what they want about Fallout 4, but it's better than Starfield at least.

The food/water shit doesn't matter at all, the combat change is fricking stupid though, you deal a fraction of damage while enemies deal 2x more.
If you play it, get a mod that makes it 2x damage for the player and the enemy. It stops enemies being sponges and you can get one shot pretty easily that way.
