Isn't this more on Square for not wanting to take the time to properly port it? Like how WiiU had almost no 3rd party games because porting to it was a massive pain

It is. Square couldn't be bothered to port the series hence them going with the Stadia route.

There's no excuse for 1.5+2.5 being a cloud game. It's literally a PS3 port of some PS2 games. Sure, there's a reason: they're already making cloud versions of 3 and 2.8 so putting the rest on the cloud required no extra effort on their part. But that's not an excuse.

pretty sure you use "arm chair X" when you try to pass as an expert in a field without even being in that field (basically "from your arm chair in your house)

Because of these shitty third party Disney princess games? LOL, sure.

Look, I know this seems like a tragedy to a Playstation tard because your console has no games so you need to rely on these crappy Disney princezs games, on the Switch we have more than enough good games for this trash to not matter one fricking bit.

wrong, it's no longer a PS2 game obviously
they got weird ass names like 2.5 final mix and 2.8, and they have 4k graphics and 60fps

            the switch, cannot, handle it
buy a real console to play games.

If Nintendo's next-gen hardware isn't at least as powerful as Steam Deck and doesn't jump from ARM to X86 it can say goodbye to third-party support.

The entire HD KH compilation is like 200+ GB on consoles. Forget about physical copies since Nintendo at best can only make 64gb cartridges. Forget about digital as most people don't have a 512gb SD card sitting in their Switch. Cloud is the only solution. It's like DQX or PSO2 on Switch where they could have easily ported it but the games are fricking huge to install.

Someone in another thread said a lot of the bloat came from the movies and the actual games themselves were much smaller.

so are you proposing the games be on the carts, and the cinematics stream from cloud

They should be able to. In the original Chain of Memories on the GBA, they actually had a full 3D cutscene. Just one.

that cutscene was both complete shit, AND took up half the cartridge memory

This. the GB argument doesn't make sense given where these games originated from. Square is just being horribly sloppy with the "remasters"

          Anonymous

That would still make them expensive to produce. Assume that each game is 20gb each. Nintendo would need to produce two 32gb catridges for 1.5 and 2.5 as they only make 4/8/16/32gb cartridge configurations. They haven't actually made a 64gb cartridge yet.

They would have to make the games digital only but there must be some Nintendo eShop rule where your game can't exceed a certain size like how Wii and 3DS shops had hard size limits on games.

My guess is they knew 3 had absolutely NO chance to work so they decided to make it a whole package
From their side,I kinda agree, the difference in the backlashes between "all cloud" and "half in cloud" is not big enough to justify the work to port it.

  7. 3 years ago
    Anonymous

    Yeah, that's bullshit.

If the Switch can run the Xenoblade games, the Bayonetta games and the new Metroid it can certainly run their shitty PS3 ports of these ugly ass games.

Square is just being fricking lazy.

  8. 3 years ago
    Anonymous

I chalk it up to Squeenix cashgrab laziness. The Switch could run the first two games just fine, only 3 should be cloud.
That being said, there really needed to at least be an upgraded Switch by now. Metroid Dread cruised along keeping 60 FPS the majority of the game but then after you get the Screw Attack, the game can't keep up with the speed you're moving around, drops to sub-30 at least for some time.
Link's Awakening and Dread were intended as 60 FPS games. If a game can't keep its intended framerate, then it's time for a hardware upgrade.

Nintendonlies are unreal. If they add 2B there will also be endless b***hing about NieR Automata not being on Switch when you can literally play it one every other console/platform.

they could have effortlessly ported kh1 and 2 and then make a cloud version of 3. they made them all cloud so that when the lifecycle of the switch ends and they shut the servers down you will be forced to buy it again on whatever the frick is out by then, the switch 3 or the wii u 2 or the nintendo 65, hell if i know

you guys are just plain wrong, stay mad i guess
but you should direct that outrage at Nintendo if you had any forethought

ps4 ports like the witcher 3 had indeed to be cut down
ps2 and ps3 ports like ffx and bioshock infinite run just fine on the switch without any compromise

I can understand most of them as it would need heavy porting, but KH3 is UE4 and a new version at that. 90% of the work is done with a single change in settings.

      Anonymous

it's not that easy guy, you would know that with some research on the subject
the latest UE cannot possibly hope to run on Switch without a frick ton of tinkering, if that even

Quite a few devs managed it without tinkering
