It's spooky month, any horror games you guys are looking to play or replay this month?
Will probably play an RE game like I usually end up doing and take some games off my backlog like Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water or Koudelka.
Any recommendations?
it's the same month as any other month
I'm playing through the silent hill games
Finished the first last week, now I'm playing 2
> What the frick is wrong with this clockwork?!
>PC "enhanced"
you didn't play the game
Majora's Mask
that's the PS2 version albeit
whats wrong with the mod? its faithful to the original
Sounds like a good time, I'm partial to 3 but to be fair I still need to get to 4 one of these days, enjoy anon.
Kek, what happened?
Majora's good, I hope you're playing the N64 version.
>no film grain
shiggy diggy, Stalker.
PC port + EE mod is literally the definitive edition of the game.
Ignore the autist. He's just mad that people can now easily play the game at real 4K and real 60fps.
>emulate Silent Hill
well duh, it's a PS1 game.
authentic experience is better than 4k 60
the low res adds to the spookyness controller etc
>authentic experience is better than 4k 60
PC versions are just as authentic as the PS2 and Xbox versions. Released roughly the same time too.
>low res
Then play at low res. Nothing's stopping you.
The ports originally only ran at 4:3 too.
>controller
Controller support's provided out of the box.
yeah but I'm talking bout pressure sensitive buttons and keeping it consistent through multiple games the resolution
the pc ports of the other games aren't that great especially 4
I was gonna play my first Fatal Frame but the fanbase is fricktarded so I might just consider myself gatekept and play something else.
The "fanbase" is fine. /misc/ got an in to poison the discussion with 5's costume censorship and you know how they are. The best way to start is to play the first 2 in either order, then 3, then the more recent games. 2 is much smoother than 1 so it's a much more liked starting point but narratively, you want to play the first 2. If you must play the recent remasters due to accessibility then play Lunar Eclipse for the horror and Black Water for the gameplay, but both are flawed as starting points.
Speaking of Silent hill, I finally 100% completed the 1st one. I'm going to eventually do the same with 2 and 3.
I normally replay a Resident Evil game around mid-October.
On Halloween itself I play a few holiday themed Doom maps, but might add some Quake into that since I recently discovered that games spooky month mods.
Tormented Souls. I've been wanting to play it since its sequel announcement and now seems like a good time to do so.
The only thing that kept me from playing this was the character model. She doesn't look like she belongs in the game. It feels almost as if she was modded in.Does that make sense? She looks cartoony in a way that clashes with the aesthetic of the game and that really puts me off for some reason.
I see what you mean. The vibrant design choice really does clashes the gritty environmental style. Hopefully, it won't be an issue once I get to start playing it.
She looks like she was designed by a closeted trans girl that wants to be her, the bow is hilariously gratuitous but yea it’s the entire image, autogynephilic create-a-player.
I agree in part, never liked how floaty her skirt felt with the standard costume. Her alternative costume is far superior.
>Does that make sense?
Yes, actually I don't want to play it because mc is a woman
So you don't want to play half of the classic survival horror games then.
I'll replay world of horror once the final update hits this month. Hopefully it will have support for steam workshop and we'll get tons of cool mods with all kinds of monsters from movies and videogames
God it feels like it's been forever, I been meaning to go back to it but have also been waiting for the final update after a handful of runs. I don't have a large amount of time in it but I frick with it a lot.
Remember to EMULATE Silent Hill. NEVER play those trash mods.
Prolly will replay Silent Hill 1-2. Again.

::INSTALLATION STEPS::
>SH1
This is a PS1 game, you need to emulate it.
I recommend the DuckStation, which is modern and easy to use. Most other emulators should work OK too.
>SH2-4
Insert the CDs or mount the ISOs of SH2, 3 or 4, and then run their installer to the end.
Use 3rd party programs like the Virtual CloneDrive.
Do NOT install the games under "C:Program Files"! This can cause issues.
For SH2, just download the Enhanced Edition mod's installer, and run it. It's that easy now!
SH3 & 4: grab the SH3/4 PC Fix by Steam006 from PC Gaming Wiki.
The GOG version of SH4 does NOT by default restore the cut content!
>Protips
-Play the games in the release order.
-Start with Normal difficulty is recommended.
-There's TONS of replay value, so do replay them all.
-Turn down the in-game Brightness setting, for better gamma & colors.
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors. Leg it, or sneak!
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help you in the dark.
I've just finished dead space 1, is it worth doing a rerun with the military armour or should I move onto dead space 2 or resi 0. Never played dead space only played 0 briefly. Going to end the month with silent hill 2 as well.
I don't remember impossible difficulty changing the game much outside of the damage, so you could just move on to 2 if you really want to play it.
Played the original so can only stick to normal. I saw the suit and some audio logs got unlocked so wasn't sure if it was worth going through again.
Apart from the light gun games and most of outbreak, 0 is the only one I haven't really played. X0s 4vh
Definintely just move on to Dead Space 2, also why Resi 0?
The only horror game I play this month is "potentially getting fired from my job"
picrel
not a horror game but it's october related
Horror, horror themed, it's all the same in my book.
I wanted to mention I was gonna replay Bloodborne but forgot to.
I adore the game so much but it also makes me wish there was a modern Castlevania game with a similar direction, maybe not a full blown souls like, but seeing a modern 3D vania game with competent devs would be amazing.
Ngl I would really really love a spiritual successor to Castlevania for N64/Legacy of Darkness I've replayed those games so much it's not even funny.
visage was pretty neat though the puzzles were annoying
The Cutting Room Floor doesn't have a page on the Silent Hill Collection. Think there was any cool unused stuff on that version?
The Bunny Graveyard is fun, albeit on the shorter side.
Not necessarily horror but I'm in the mood to play Dino Crisis 2 later today. Beanbag, CRT tv, real hardware.
