Thoughts on AC Odyssey?
I purchased it in the recent sale and it seems well made. I like that they give you choices in some of the quests. I like that you get another ship to sail around in. The sneaking is functional. The territory control between Athens and Sparta is an interesting feature. I don't mind the leveling or gear stats. Overall I think it is pretty good and worth the sale price I paid for it.
Worth sale price but get ready bro cuz it gets BOOOORRRRRRIIIIINNNNNGGGGG. It’s especially tedious when you’re constantly hitting enemies 2 levels higher than you and dealing .1 damage
Boring as frick, I stabbed a guy in the fricking face and he went ooph and then I watched his health bar go down by 1/100 and then he kept swinging. I can’t explain why but this shit works for some games and doesn’t for others.
The protagonist swings his swords like a fricking dumbass, standard combat animations are horrible.
I stabbed a guy in the back in a contextual stealth kill and the guy didn’t die, he just lost 1/4 his health.
You can do funny shit like spartan kick people off cliffs but those skills are rarely usable without cheese set ups and most aren’t that entertaining.
The loot grind is immediate, obnoxious, and unceasing.
I don't think it's a good game but it's not bad either. It's fun wandering around exploring and doing some main quest missions. It's not a game I would binge, it's a game I can pick up for 30 minutes even an hour every other day. I like Alexios, nothing much I can say about Kassandra.
i liked it a lot. theres a funny quest where you do some funny stuff. hehe i still laugh about it. youll know what im talking about when you get there.
It was fun for a little while but gets repetitive fast.

It doesn't really matter long-term because the game will follow the real world history of the Pelopennesian War, just do whatever you need to hunt targets or get new loot

It is pretty good which is why Ubisoft immediately tried to turn every game into AC Odyssey.
The real trick is to just not try to do everything because you'll get burned out, but it's not a bad game to get lost in. I think I got over a hundred hours out of it before I wrapped up the story and the assassination board.

The next gen upgrade for this game is insane, it looks incredible. It even looks better than it’s own sequel (although that’s an infinitely better game as a game).

the color palette and the general art direction & aesthetics of the second game was a downgrade
Makes up for it in sheer QoL improvement and content variety and depth. The level of platforming, moveset diversity, enemy variety, it’s so much of a better outright game it’s not that big of a deal. They put their priorities in the right place imo, the first one needed GAME improvement, basically felt like a beta to play.
I hope HL gets the same treatment and it’s inevitable sequel is just more, more more more, compared to the very limited depth and shallow nature of the first.
