I took a sizeable break to play Dragon Quest. Abandoning my dream game to make bite sized phoneshit that functions before I cobble together a broken dream that sucks

i can't even enjoy any good content anymore because when i see it a part of my brain always criricizes me, "so why couldn't YOU make something this good?" some people are inspired by witnessing greatness, but me, it just makes me more depressed because with somthing that good already made by someone, of what use am I? how did people far younger than me end up so proficient at creation, and i have no talents whatsoever...
All I care about is drawing and programming.
You don't need to learn Japanese for making games.
3D modeling is useless when you can just make a game in 2D.
Storytelling is optional.
Just hire someone else for music.
>I'm glad you remember it!
Remember it? It’s a fun game once you know how to play.
If I were you, I’d figure out how to port it to iOS and Android. That and having a high score system.
Those are my exact two main goals once I get my first pass on my animations done. I plan to have them done for next demo day, with my highest score waiting for anons to try and beat it.

I gave up making games - I had a fairly reasonable sized following ~5k on twitter, had a couple articles written about my games and even sold enough to pay for my wedding
but making games was too inconsistent - I now make more money working as tech support for some company and I've been getting persistent promotions
I now just draw, shitpost and making games is a little hobby to teach myself some coding stuff

wow this game would make me quit or ignore the hats entirely. So much time wasted on bling animations, a menu opens, closes, splash screen, menu opens again... you gotta cut it shorter.
This game was about upgrades and collecting hats - one of the upgrades was legitmately an option to reduce "hat unboxing" and was one of the cheaper upgrades - it was entirely intentional and to encourage users not to waste their money on hats first

How? It's a dead end job once you reach the highest possible level for a support monkey.
The company I work for is a little weird - our tech support also does some minor bug fixes for the tool we develop - so you need to know C#, SQL and some other stuff
the company is also expanding so I'll likely end up in a managerial role eventually - but hey

Loomis is a bunch of garbage. Scott Robertson's book How to Draw is 1000 times better.
Also, I wanted to read a mathematical book about perspective, I found the book Viewpoints, but it's absolute dogshit, it's one of those "Earn your knowledge" bullshit that expects you to rediscover everything doing exercises they don't bother explaining.

What's the carrot?
Know the guy before it is for writing.
FLStudio, it's what most people use for creating music nowadays.
No seriously musician uses fruity loops, the quality you get from it is potato. you can tell instantly if something was made with it

except if your 2d art direction is nearly flawless it's easier to NGMI
I've been making 3d models -> sprite sheets so I can have 4 directional sprites easily, and it's working well!
As a fan of Ecosystem Shapes, this is mega based.
Thanks anon, I'm glad you remember it!

whos the guy on the right and what's the pepper for?
My art is professional garbage, I can barely figure out CSS and HTML, but the writing part is fine. My dreams of learning Japanese are long dead.
The right is Loomis, commonly recommended as a learning tool for drawing.
Do you know the writing guy's name? He's not familiar to me.
>Do you know the writing guy's name?
Not that anon but Harold Bloom.
left is loomis
im ok
Prove it, post something from that game!
Took a break from art for while now, i don't feel good these day
it's pretty much impossible to learn japanese without actually living in japan
I dare someone to make a game based around having no music or sound effects at all

The Japanese with Anime guy hasn't posted at all recently. How am I supposed to learn Japeknees now?
How come i finish a meme degree in computer science and i feel i dont know how to code...
because it's all about experience once you grasp basic algorithm and logic
