It depends on the game but i had stutter in twilight princess for example until i set the cpu threads to 3 from 8 with powertools
you have to turn off smt and sometimes limit your cores to 3, just limiting the cores isn't good because of how smt works
from what I read this 3.5 update should eliminate the need to do that though
>Explain. Is this bad and why.
Not a bad thing per se, it's like using Linux Mint to play your games. You have to wait a while for updates that give performance boosts in a 6-month to 1 year timespan. The changes you're seeing were long available to anyone on the latest kernel.
Finished BG3 on this thing, the game is buggy as fuck and fps in Act 3 is horrible
Playing AC6 currently, looks beautiful and runs great at medium settings 40fps locked
I stopped playing in act 2 because I wanted to wait for the improvements they promised would arrive with the PS5 release, but FSR 2 is still not available and apparently the real performance gains will be in the next patch. It's been almost 3 weeks now, how horrible are we talking here in regards to act 3? Is it playable/does it only lose frames even if it dips really low or does it slow down to a crawl as well?
>Steam Deck lets you play Steam games on a handheld device >Can just play them on your PC
Is this just for fatasses and lazy people to lay in bed and play games? I doubt most of you actual play games in public. I guess it'd be good if you traveled or something. Seems like a waste of money when I can just play my Steam games on my PC.
depends heavily on the game and on the emulator version, though it helps that you're not going to be running those games in docked mode (that's stupid on an 800p-oriented system)

It did for me, I'm fine with Switch games running well enough and I bought some of my favorites again like Bayonetta and Bloodstained just to see them run effortlessly at 60 fps with everything on high. So far the only game that has been hit or miss was TotK but it's probably because Yuzu needs devs need more time with it, BotW went from unplayable to almost flawless on Yuzu (yes not Cemu) in one year or so
Red Dead 2 and 100 presenting Hotline Miami. The two compliment each other pretty well. I'm loving Red Dead 2 so far but if I play too much of it, I will definitely get bored because there's no doubt that sometimes it really does just become horse rider simulator. But it's also a much more laid back, slow-burn game that you get a lot out of it if you just take it easy and not rush anything. So whenever I want immediate action and pure gameplay, I just boot up Hotline Miami. When I'm ready to be invested in the world again, I go back to Red Dead 2.
I've been pirating switch games and playing and I would like to say they are great but why do a majority of these titles feel like shovelware or even look like shovelware
should i get a deck because it's on sale and has better support/more popular or
wait until next month for lenovo legion which has 144hz screen?
I get that I'm not going to be playing many games on these things above 60fps so maybe it's a non issue but my eyes have not looked at a screen less than 120hz in at least a decade and i'm concerned it will look like shit.
I occassionally get jobs at work where I sit in my truck alone all day so I'm interested in a portable thingy
pirated games run identically to how they do on steam, which is to say steam neither knows nor cares the difference between a pirated game and a normal non-steam game
Banjo tooie right now and slay the spire mostly. After that I'm not sure.
Playing switch games
Nier Automata
Gta 4
ps2 games
Waiting for lies of p to be cracked
doing ok just my external drives keep getting removed and i have to add them back in
not on 3.5 but excited for it to come to the stable branch
I've been playing Elden Ring and sekiro and I can definitely see a performance boost on the preview channke
By perf boost do you mean 5 fps more at the same wattage or what?
wait 3.5 is out?
is this the update that fixes smt shit so you don't need to use power tools to limit your cores in emulators anymore?
It's on preview channel
Congratulations, you're slowly catching up to bleeding edge distros beta-testing these features.
Explain 3.5 what's it do.
Also playing viewtiful Joe on GameCube on the deck. Some reason it stutters.

Are you using powertools? Gamecube emulation isn‘t that smooth with default settings
>Isn't that smooth
Why
Are you serious?
I was emulating gamecube smoothly months ago, it gets 4 hours doing it too.
It depends on the game but i had stutter in twilight princess for example until i set the cpu threads to 3 from 8 with powertools
I'm slogging through the end of Sea of Stars. This game is extremely frustrating to me.
Been knocking out indies while watching TV. Was about done Cyberhook but battery died and can't be bothered to get the non Deck charger from my room.
*non Dock charger
Did they fix the menu closing right after opening it when docked bug?
God I fucking hope so.
That shit is infuriating.
>Steam Deck was on linux kernel 5 the entire time
What the fuck
Explain. Is this bad and why.
So is GameCube good or bad. I'm using dolphin RetroArch 1x native res and getting stutters with some shaders.
Try it yourself, it ran fine enough for me.
I had stutters too and followed this video
?si=XJLkfrefVwtIywhh
Most of the settings are default anyways but setting cpu threads to 3 solved the stutter for me

I'm waiting for the Deck 2. It needs to be able to play UE5 games at 720p medium without upscaling.
you're gonna be telling the thread you're waiting every day for years at this rate
It's fine, I don't absolutely need to play games on the shitter. I've already got a capable gaming PC that I use at my desk and in bed.
r/wooooosh
i don't understand the point of this post
why does anyone need to know that you're waiting for the next version of the deck
SMT DDS, pretty fun game, love the soundtrack.
So it's out ready for download.

anon-domo... you weren't a new IP address... at least use your phone...
But I am a new IP, I just entered the thread and that was my first post in the thread. It must be a problem on your end.
>Is this just for fatasses and lazy people to lay in bed and play games?
One of the first Steam Deck screenshots posted on Ganker was some richfag on his private plane playing a flight sim while beside his pilot.
The Steam Deck has also been repurposed in the Ukraine to remotely control sentry machine guns.
Kek tendie.
good animation but this is on the long list of shitposts that didn't come true
Idk smash bros ran at 60 for more

Because they're only worth 20 dollars or less and not the inflated prices you see when buying legitimately.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Breath of the Wild are the peak of switch games.

Mine was supposed to be delivered yesterday, aparently its delayed until Monday.
all I want from valve is a steamdeck with a non shit screen. please
Has anyone pirated anything yet?
